DER MODERNE MAN - Sandman 7'' 1981

Today a four piece from Hanover which were founded in autumn 1979 and disbanded in the beginning of 1984 and Sandmann is the second 7Inch on NoFun Records with two solid New Wave goodies, recorded by Mattus (vocals/synth), E.K.T. (guitars), Jens G (bass), Claudius (drums). Der Moderne Man was an experimental band descended from the Punk band "The Worst", their records appearing primarily on NoFun Records and one of the first radio hosts to spin records for the group was John PeelIn the spring of 1980 the first EP Umsturz Im Kinderzimmer was released on the Heile Welt Records label and was soon sold out. The reactions to this debut weren't really enthusiastic. At a time when the more conservative German rock groups woke up and frantically tried to find connection to what is en vogue, Der Moderne Man flirted with a wink to be unfashionable. That concerned wit, humor and more relaxed approach to the diversity of style, the attempted competition is light years ahead. In 1981 the first single with a new line-up was released. The two titles fulfilled the motto that E.K.T. once put it this way: "A three-minute song that gets off to a good start is much more important than some experiment that blows the ears of a few people. And the much-vaunted avant-garde is also going in circles: experiment today, convention tomorrow." Sounds certified that the quartet delivered "a good piece of German Pop Music" with the single. Two more albums followed, including one live, and by late 1983 they were working on new material and planned to release the third LP in spring 1984, but never came.

MÄDELS NO MÄDELS - Take That! EP 1998

By popular demand, finally Punk from Sindelfingen by Mädels No Mädels who have been celebrating their cutting '77 style dance music since 1989. Originally founded as Heavy Mädels they released their first EP under this name on FAE Musik. This was followed by the renaming to Mädels No Mädels and since then several singles and three albums have been born. They haven't all the qualities of a successful band, that doesn't let anything or anyone get in the way. Unmistakable Punkrock that always sounds crisp like fresh from the baker. In this file you find their fourth EP plus the legendary 333 x Up & Down 7Inch from 1992, both released via the great Incognito Records label. Sound 'Made In Germany' that roars, sweaty concert-goers, 99% humidity and snapped guitar strings are trademarks for a typical Mädels No Mädels gig. It's no exaggeration to say that the band brings fun into your life with their refreshing, carefree music that takes you back to life and leaves everyday life where it belongs. Also represented on numerous CompisMusicians on these two singles are Oli (vocals/guitar), Johnny (guitars), Jenz (bass) and Hari (drums) and their debut Doggie Style comes soon. Until then, let yourself be intoxicated by their driving music, buy their records (if available) and enjoy spring. Cheers!

FEHLFARBEN - 33 Tage In Ketten 1981

Second album by Fehlfarben on Welt-Rekord, which in my opinion was wrongly given little attention and had a difficult time after the departure of singer Peter Hein. Guitarist Thomas now took over the vocals and I have to say he gives the very good lyrics the necessary expression, his own charm and style and 33 days in chains has the same emotionally oppressive density as the debut. Dynamic interplay of bass and drums, fast beats combined with unique guitar playing. I won't say it's better than the debut, but the fine production plus the fantastic lyrics make this record still worth listening today. I put it out after a long time and immediately transported on my phone. You will find two bonus tracks from the CD version in this file and anyone who likes the music of the Fehlfarben will definitely not be disappointed. Well, times aren't very pleasant right now and I've experienced once again how sneaky people can be, but that doesn't belong here and I need to clear my head. Enjoy Life and good music and trust no one!

PERZONAL WAR - Different But The Same 2002

Some time ago I brought you closer to the debut of the PowerTrashMetal band Perzonal War and today I give you their third album which was released via AFM Records. You can clearly see their development and their songs captivate with hard, powerful, catchy rhythms and melodies. The reviews of this album are mixed and the band is largely unknown, although they work at a high level and don't have to hide behind any big bands from overseas but they had their chance and blew it (some opinions)Of course, there are also weak tracks among them, but overall you can listen to the album, even as non-Metaller, without hesitation and you don't have to become a fan of them, but listen to goes always, right!

NEUE HEIMAT - Ich Bau' Dir Ein Schloss 7'' 1982

Today I'm fulfilling a request and I know there were a few more, but I have to admit I forgot a lot. I always think I can remember them, so I don't write them down and then find that they're gone. Well, that's the way it is, so I need a reminder from those who have uttered one before. The following 7inch is the best-known song from Neue Heimat and I didn't know until now that it's a cover version, it was originally sung by Dutch Schlager singer Heintje in 1968 (watch). On the flip is with 'König Albert' a snappy non-album track in the typical rockin' band style. Definitely a solid record and I retire because I've got a little fucking cold and want to be fit for today's difficult away game in Leipzig in a few hours.

DEUTSCHE TRINKERJUGEND - Alle Meine Freunde... 2014

A highlight of German Punk music was released by Hörsturzproduktion and Rotten Totten Records and these are always worthwhile because they are lovingly and handsomely produced, sometimes on colored vinyl, and these attributes also stand for the following record: twenty-four songs by Berlin legend Deutsche Trinkerjugend (DTJ) from the 80s! The a-side with twelve studio songs (Scheißegal EP from 1984 and Compilation songs) and twelve on the b-side with goodies from the "Live Im Flöz" tape from 1982. The band was founded by Jenne (vocals), Max (guitars), Bertel (bass), Uwe (drums) and they had their active phase in the alternative and lively scene in West Berlin in the early Eighties and were part of the "unruly youth culture", those years that confused and repelled the bourgeois milieus of West Berlin and contributed to the half-city appearing as an adventure playground for the abandoned, excluded and loafers. The content of the four is about excessive alcohol consumption and refusal to work. The DTJ first became known regionally through live performances, which often took place in squats. In 1982 the first recordings were released as a split-tape Live Im Flöz, together with Frau Suurbier. Most of these recordings were made during the live recording of a concert by both bands at the Etablissement Flöz in Wilmersdorf on August 13, 1982 and is only available on cassette and were mainly distributed regionally. The aforementioned sampler contributions followed, finally their EP on Love & Pils Records (a classic) and within two years, the Deutsche Trinkerjugend had achieved cult status in the scene. In 1984 the band broke up for undocumented reasons; however, its members continued to work together on various projects in the years that followed. After German reunification, the four came together again for a few gigs in the new federal states. Uwe died in 1996, Jenne in 2010. This is their legacy, short funny songs that may not be to everyone's taste but have left their mark on a new genre.

IDEAL - Der Ernst Des Lebens 1981

Almost a year earlier, Ideal had set a milestone in the young NDW scene with their debut album and it's still a fantastic record and a year later the second followed, which is again a strong statement from the Four. Der Ernst Des Lebens has become a bit more mature and smooth in terms of sound and the rough Punkroots (so I want to call it) are a bit lost to the mix, but the record still impresses with its good variable songs and they do this in an expressive way, no Ideal album is fucking boring!! As you can easily see, this is the promo version with a different cover and the lyrics are printed in English and French. Recorded again with the line-up of Humpe, Deuker, Behrendt & Krüger. Conny Plank was the producer and all songs were recorded in his studio, released then at WEA. At the time, the label emphasized almost like a prayer wheel that it was a "dance combo (from West Berlin)" and that the music was "definitely dance music". There was talk of "strict rhythms that demand movement and pop music" as well as "music without frills, without superfluous ornamentation. The roots in the New Wave movement are not denied. And yet the possibilities of studio recording have not been neglected". The descriptions may seem wooden, but ultimately the hodgepodge of descriptions is understandable. Ideal combined melodic features of the Schlager with the drive of New Wave, mixed with a bit more offbeat passages. Catchy, hard riffs and the typical subtly psychedelic interjections, with South Seas/Caribbean flair and an emphatically decadent mood, eleven nuggets that still sound fresh.

V/A - Powerpearls Vol.6 2000

Uhhaaa... next round of the grandiose Powerpearls series, today with Volume #6 and you know what that means. Seventeen fresh PowerPop nuggets from all over the world have made it onto this Compilation and the selection is once again considerable and equipped with plenty of rare 7inches (one song per record). It's been a long time since I discovered this style of music with enthusiasm and since then I have had a number of Schnittchen as guests in my house and basically no more words are needed to review this rare record I think, do you agree? Let's do it like this, it's best to use the opportunity to leave your review/opinion in the comment section, that's what it's for and I'd be really interested in what you think about the material, and please, don't be shy. 😌 I say: this package is damn cool and a must have for any true wdthtc follower, Enjoy!

DACKELBLUT - Fluten & Tauchen 1997

Now an older rip and some of you may be familiar with the sound of Hamburg's Dackelblut, sprouted from the rest of the seeds of Blumen Am Arsch Der Hölle, which in turn were the successor band to the legendary AngeschissenWith a slightly different line-up, the band consisted of Jens (vocals), Andreas (guitars), Wieland (bass), Heiner (drums) and this is their second & last album on Schiffen Records. In terms of lyrics, haunting everyday observations are written in witty words and musically packed in brilliant perfection. As with the debut, Frankie Stubbs managed to give the songs the right polish. All records of the band are only available on vinyl and in 2022 the complete discography (two albums & one single) were re-released as a double LP which I can only recommend (buy here). Fluten & Tauchen has thirteen great, cynically refreshing Punkrock attacks that hardly any other combo can write and anything but botched! A very good record that shouldn't be miss in any decent collection.

PAT FRAZOR & HIS BAZOOKAS - s/t EP 1989

Debut EP by this Hamburg four piece on Triton, Pat Frazor & His Bazookas formed in June 1988 with the following line-up: Honey & Hopper (vocals/guitars), Todd (bass), Kalle (drums). Although they dedicated themselves to early Punkrock, their music cannot be described in three chords alone, nor is it just a warm-up from the old days, but rather a fresh, powerful and guitar-oriented form of Rock & Roll. Characteristic is the constantly changing singing of the two guitarists, which gives the songs both a melodic and an aggressive character. Altogether they made two 7inches and one album and were a very good live band. Four dynamic, powerful songs are waiting for your ears and the Bazookas rarely at home on Compilations, suitable for the mountain festival and tonight Bundesliga... Yes!

ERIC HYSTERIC - Fool Around 7'' 1983

A gentleman who likes to be a guest in my theater celebrates a little evening mood and "Fool Around" was one of three songs (The Stiff Demos) recorded by Eric Hysteric with The Esoterics @ London's Elephant Studio in September 1980. Wasted Vinyl Records released this version three years later and the line-up were Eric (vocals/guitar), Leigh (guitar), Andy (bass), Dieter (drums). A short review: "More garage grunge from Mr. Hysteric. A couple of noisy, almost poppy songs appear here, the best of which is “I Wanna Be A Kid Forever” with its cool background vocals, fuzzy guitar, up-tempo approach, and lyrics that I can totally identify with." (Jeff Bale, MRR #12 • March 1984) - Two refreshing Lo-Fi numbers reviewing a sunny but cold day. Nice one!

BAICAL - Euphoria 12'' 2017

Today I introduce you to an interesting German band whose music is suitable for every conceivable moment and first of all I would like to thank iNgo for this tip and I would like to quote a few lines from their Bandcamp home: Baical are a three piece band based in Leipzig, Germany, dedicated to translating their emotional experiences into expressive and ethereal music of the goth, new wave and pop persuasion. Influenced by some of the most prominent alternative bands of the 1980s, they have been inspired by the finest aspects of these groups yet their fresh approach offers a new chapter for fans of this style. When they formed in 2017, they quickly got to work creating their debut EP, Euphoria, (300 copies) which was written in a basement over the course of two days during a cold winter. The forbidding seasonal state left an impression on their music that seems to have carried throughout their sound, blending sadness with beauty. Playing shows with Belgrado, Soviet Soviet and Bleib Modern cemented the strength of their songs and gained them further recognition. The following year, members Richard, Chris and Willi, recorded the album Funeral Party with producer Magnus Wichmann at Lala Studios in Leipzig. The result is a modern high quality sound that does justice to the strength of their songwriting. Featuring chorus saturated guitar tones reminiscent of the Cure and an authentically 80s drum sound, these finer details all come together to form a unified and harmonious debut release. The album is full of catchy hooks, luscious melodies, and even contains some dance friendly grooves.

Well I enjoy this band and while their music may seem very dark it is uplifting and full of positive vibes and I'm sure they will find many friends with their sound. TOP!

SUPERSTOLK - Froiedich's Kristkind EP 2010

Yesterday I didn't manage to post this ingenious D.I.Y. EP by this Offenbach duo, but there's more time this morning and it is the only Christmas post this year and I dedicate this honor to two good friends of mine and together they are the exceptional band from the small neighbor of Frankfurt: Superstolk. The band consisting of Mr. JörgRitter & Mr. TorstnKauke. Musical geniuses that cannot be pigeonholed play pop, jazz, rock, electronic, Punk & Hardcore. They've made a lot of releases and this EP is a big smash and let's see what they tell us now: "Here is a little Kristmas-present for everybody: Superstolk are playing twelve very trashy Punkrockrocker that were totally improvised and recorded using "Direct Brain-to-Audio" technics...This must be funny. After these songs Superstolk are playing the most popular x-mas-melodies directly to the recorder without practicing once. As merry as your christmas can get!" I promise you'll be amazed. Visit the world stars from the rhine-main-area at home on unpop-media and search for more obscure musical highlights, and this abstruse EP is exactly what Christmas this and every year deserves!

V/A - Vertigo - Synth Punk Blasts 1978-1984 [2020]

When I took notice of this record I bought it immediately, on the one hand because the song selection is great, the time of release, the bands (more than 50% unknown) and I love international stuff, and then limited, so damn... why waiting?? Info: Vertigo is a compilation of SynthPunk, mainly from little known bands. This first volume will be available (vinyl only, limited to 300 copies) on December 15th, features American, German, British & Swedish bands. The term SynthPunk has been popularized in recent years, or rather vulgarized, becoming a genre that mostly describes electronic or new wave bands. This compilation highlights anger and nihilism punk with the violent rhythm of a fingering that assails a keyboard. Here, no synth pop, no new wave, no experimental music. This could be the sequel to the Killed By Synth compilation which is also led by raw razor shape synthesizers.

brilliant review: "Well, first things first: compared to the unrelated but similarly-themed Killed by Synth comp. that preceded it, this new comp at least succeeds in only including bands that actually used keyboards, so no BIG BOYS, OIL TASTERS, or BOB this time around. In true KBD tradition, the focus here is on the the flipped-out and the fucked-up in the words of the compiler(s), “no synth pop, no new wave, no experimental music” and despite (presumably) being named after the SCREAMERS song, Vertigo skips over the usual synth-punk suspects in favor of some deeper and less obvious cuts. Highlights include the Bloodstains-via-Red Snerts snot of “Sophistication” by PLASTIC IDOLS (Houston’s answer to DOW JONES & THE INDUSTRIALS), organ-smeared mutant new wave with wild femme vocals from Santa Cruz’s SCHEMATIX on “Nothing Special,” the dark, frenetic end-times robo-pulse of “Happy Funeral” by Sweden’s KITCHEN & THE PLASTIC SPOONS, the jarring juxtaposition of sparse minimal wave and intense, unhinged vocals in German from DER KÜNFTIGE MUSIKANT’s “Es Ist Kalt”… also, totally bold move with the inclusion of “Food Fight” by the VILLAGE PEOPLE (yes, really) in the post-disco early ’80s, they revamped their image to pass as New Romantics and recorded this one-off, utterly dumb but kind of amazing slice of PLASTIC BERTRAND esque punksploitation with the former “construction worker” channeling his inner Tomata Du Plenty, now officially enshrined as the first dollar bin KBD bonzer. Not a predictable comp by any means, and that’s very much to its credit. (Erika Elizabeth, MRR #454 • March 2021)

This blast works fine and rubs really against my nervous head. Have a relaxed time with this hot fucking stuff and a pleasant time travel!

1.Laundramat Loverboy - ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
2.Making Time - THE STEVES
3.Trust In Technology - ADAPTORS
4.Businessman's Bounce - CRAIG BEVAN & THE TOURISTS

FEINBEIN - Feinbein's Psychoshow 1983

Well, I had imagined the long weekend off differently, but the new equipment is driving me crazy and I have to find a solution quickly, otherwise I'll run amok. Irrespective of that, I come to the next post and we meet the local heroes from Hanau called Feinbein with their second album with ten rocking numbers are adorned with sophisticated lyrics and they may sound funny sometimes, but they shine with a healthy portion of sarcasm with criticism of different kinds of social conditions. All seven are also very talented musically and I recommend the third album, Schräge Vögel for further samples. A small contribution to Hessian music culture, also suitable for HardcorePunks. Breakfast now!

THE 1980'S - 3'rd Kind Rock 7'' 1980

One of the best World Cup finals I've ever seen was on yesterday and I won't go into detail about it, I just almost missed my train, anyway... it was worth every minute. But back to shitty Monday which was horrible once again and therefore sweet music to calm down a bit. In Bremen at home are the 1980's and the trio consisted of Jet (vocals/guitars), J.Pop (bass), Knox (drums) and in their two-year lifespan they managed one 7Inch, probably on their own label Kandikorn-Record (it looks very D.I.Y.) and we enjoy two passable New Wave goodies, very charming and somehow cute. Other musical activities are present on some tape compilations that are out of my league. Now a cigarette, a beer and life becomes a little more pleasant.

DIE AUTOS - Niemals! 7'' 1983

December also kicks off with a rare 7inch, and also based in Mönchengladbach are Die Autos, a duo consisting of Lloyd & Junge, and their only creative outpouring came out on the small Park Platten label (200 copies in green vinyl)which also threw the fantastic Pesthauch Des Dschungels compilation. My copy is the re-release on KillerReleaseRecords from 2001, this edition came handnumbered of 1000 copies, yellow vinyl and in sturdy fold-out poster sleeveThe special thing about side projects is that the actors let off steam musically and exploit other musical resources that sometimes lead to extremes and are far from what you are used to. Weird and experimental but also different and catchy. The two goodies from the Autos impress with their wavie rhythm that floats in a solid mid-tempo and provided with meaningful lyrics, and I would almost say, the record sounds like an early EA80 demo. Well, what am I supposed to keep talking? Anyone who appreciates the Gladbach sound will grab it without hesitation, everyone else should definitely do the same. Note: 'Slaughter' from the flip was 1991 re-recorded for the first Böse Hand EP (coming soon). Now enjoy the first delicacy of the Advent Calendar!

EA80 - 20 EP 1989

I say goodbye to the ugliest month of the year with a rarity from my favorite band: EA80. From this little sunshine were 200 copies made for the Birthday of a friend of the band and was then served as a ticket to the Party on 23.December 1989 and was never sold regularly; there are three different artworks, all copies are numbered. 'Twenty' is a typical provocative song that hardly any other combo can write: ass kicking, self-reflective, uncompromising and clear. 'Coming Down' is a tender thoughtful Christmas carol for everyone who didn't stay at home (or don't want to stay at home these days) and 'Dilettanten' was recorded live in the rehearsal room in the distant past (1983?) and is dedicated to all those who have no solution for everything and thus continue to make things worse, Hauptsache es macht Spaß! Innovative and pithy as ever and enjoyable at any time.

LOIKAEMIE - III 2002

Thomas (vocals/guitars), Paul (bass) & Mischa (drums) = Loikaemie. This Skinhead band stands for honest, straight, critical and hard Streetpunk. This is their third album on KnockOut Records with a Studio Side and a Live Goodie which were recorded 2000 @ Conne Island in Leipzig. The boys bring their lyrics straight out without hiding behind any phrases and confusing the listener. This album put them to the top position in the German Oi! League and pushed their friend & foe potential. Shone Wir Sind Die Skins, III is an excellent increaseSince 2022, delayed by the Covid-19 shit, active again and playing regular concerts, including at the Sternburg Fanfest in Leipzig, where new music/record was also announced. A few weeks ago their latest 7Inch Lumpenmann came out via Fettfleck Records with two new songs after more than fourteen years, keep going boys!

V/A - German Mystic Sound Sampler V 1995

All right Friends, almost forgotten Volume five of the German Mystic Sounds series finally follows and that bloody hand is equipped with twelve dark forces. The music is dark and shaky to the point, as with the previous volumes, but a different genre called EBM/Industrial runs vehemently on this compilation and does it all really well. I have a very good friend who likes black music and she used to take me to alternative disco nights in the Nineties and it is really interesting and if you're in Tanzwut you're definitely at the right place. I felt very comfortable in this scene at times, although I would never betray my Punker heart. The nearly sixty-five minutes start spirited and wild, but already after half my interest goes slack and at the latest when Haujobb starts it's going to be terrible, their song is absolutely superfluous. Thereafter follows shallow, self-pitying tones which doesn't turn me on either. But since the series lives here, this post is dedicated to all those who need exactly this sound to be able to keep breathing and don't want to stay at home.

1.The Providence - AGE OF HEAVEN
2.Turn Around - HEAD ON FIRE
3.Woodland - STILL PATIENT
4.Wake Again In Heaven (Sometimes) - ENDLESS
5.Comfortably Numb / Some Kind Of Stranger - SYRIA
6.Torn Skin - WUMPSCUT
7.World Window - HAUJOBB
8.Pornocrates - PHALLUS DEI
9.Stadt Der Träume - ARTWORK
10.Second Life - LOVE IS COLDER THAN DEATH
11.1000 Beats - 1 AM
12.Schein Der Hoffnung - TATMOTIV ANGST

- Special Thx to STARGAZER -
