V/A - Attrix Records (The Vaultage Punk Collection) 1997

Now a nice Compilation by Anagram Records and this is part of their legendary The Punk Collectors Series. Attrix Records (Brighton based Punk label formed in 1978 by Rick Blair. The first release was by his own band, Attrix, who the label were named after) is a well-known label that was active in the late 1970s and early 1980s and specialises in Punk and PostPunk sounds. The "Vaultage Punk Collection" includes a selection of rare 7Inches that showcase both well-known and lesser-known bands, mainly from Brighton, that played a small role in the early days of UK Punk. This nice collection is a successful Compilation, a kind of journey through the history of those early days, as I like it. Have fun with it and since there is no Bundesliga today it will be a lazy evening.

V/A - Keine Experimente! Vol. II 1984

It's time to relive the old days and the following Kompilation brings only positive memories back and it feels incredibly good to put this fucker out of sleep. This superb record from Weird System is an album that has caused a stir, especially in the German underground scene. This collection offers a more personal mix of relevant artists and is an absolute highlight. Just as the predecessor was a huge hit with more political stuff by essential German Punk bands, the second part is a perfect continuation and ensures a varied entertaining listening experience. Most of the beautys are only immortalized on this record and are real timeless classics that are now indispensable. Forty years have passed since then and I can look back and remember exactly how I felt at this time and how wonderful and carefree my life was, with less responsibility, fewer health issues, just living without thinking too much. And time wasn't important, now everything has become a little complicated and things have changed, not everything for the better, well, what can I say, I hate to repeat myself but getting old sucks. Overall, Keine Experimente! Vol.II is an exciting discovery that is recommended for old rockers and all newcomers who are interested in really good sounds. German craftsmanship!

V/A - Raridades Vol.1 EP 2008

This little beauty came in a limited edition of 500 hand numbered copies and is equipped with four Portuguese bands who shine with four rough live recordings and is a collection of lesser known and unreleased tracks that are often of particular interest and offers an interesting insight into the creative process and development of these combos that contain a wild and amazing performance. The sound quality is acceptable throughout, even if there are a few small hiccups here and there - no idea how they were recorded - but on the whole it's absolutely acceptable and whether there will be a sequel to it is not clear. A brief overview of each song: Crise Total, this track addresses state repression and criticizes the authorities. The energetic instrumentation and haunting vocals make it clear that the band is conveying a clear message. Peste & Sida's song is about the fears and worries of the time, especially regarding nuclear threats and combinas catchy melodies and critical lyrics which reflects the societal tensions. The Censurados come with a political figure and a societal issue which is treated in a satirical way. The song is characterized by a powerful rhythm and provocative lyrics that make you think and the Vómito's are known for its satirical and often exaggerated approach to social issues. They combines humorous lyrics with a dynamic typical sound and the instrumentalists involved in this EP add to the diversity and soundscape. Overall, this slab offers not only a nostalgic look back at an important era in Portuguese music, but also a platform for critical and creative expression, a must-listen and a cool insight into the cultural and political currents of the small Portuguese underground scene.

V/A - Positive Energie #2 2024

Well, Teddy was constantly urging me to finally create a sequel to Positive Energie and I finally gave in and wasted my valuable time on this and set out on the long journey to create a worthy second part.... and today after six years, dear friends, the time has come: Another example by interesting bands, this time looking a little bit beyond Germany to the rest of the continent where I live but remaining in Europe, a healthy mix of new Post-Punk and Punk sounds that deserve a mention because on the one hand they put a lot of effort and money into their records and on the other hand they conjure up dynamic songs from their repertoire that are driving and rousing in my opinion and I am overall very satisfied with this selection. Without the support of some dear friends this compilation wouldn't have been possible and my sincere thanks are lovingly mentioned in the booklet. If you are more interested in the bands' sound, check out the relevant sites on the internet and look for more information and records, it is a lively ride through new discoveries and passionate energy. And Teddy was right again, get off your ass and do something smart, it's never wrong to create something beautiful. With that in mind, enjoy this CD and maybe I'll see your Fucker here.

I think it's the last KBD Compilation that's missing here and this slab isn't that bad as the title suggests. From Lo-Fi to decent songs, the range is amazingly diverse and anyone who likes things a bit easier will get their money's worth with this cutie. Liner Notes: "Hello & welcome to the newest installment of Killed By Death series. There is now so many, who knows for all of them? So we start over with #1 in an offshoot to pay tribute to all great British D.I.Y. bands from the late 70's & early 80's. Sure everyone to have recordings by SWELL MAPS & TVP'S, but how about the SODS & all the rest of most excellent sounds on this record? We start off with LONDON PX & their classic handclap singalong 'Orders' from '81. Next are two cuts from the fantastic EP 'Deadbeat Revival' by HORNSEY AT WAR which came out in 1979. The PETTICOATS do 'Normal', then it's the MUD HUTTERS with 'Water Torture' off their spazzed out 1979 EP, 'The Declaration'. My mother says they are to sound like Punk version of legendary Stardust cowboy. It's true! PURITAN GUITARS '£100 In 15 Minutes' from their 1980 handstamped Riverside label. The DISCO ZOMBIES did three 45ers I know of, all are to kill for. 'Drums Over London" was the 2nd one I found & was in amazing silscreened wraparound sleeve. The SODS end side one with their organ driven classic 'No Pictures' from 1979 on Stortbeat. FUN 4 were Scottish & drummer Steven Daly later was to be in Orange Juice. Why is this record dedicated to Simon Weisenthal. To much! Another Stortbeat band SPELLING MISSTEAKS follow with 'Popstar'. Do not confuse them w/New Zealand band of the same name. ONE GANG LOGIC ask the question 'Who Killed Sex'? It wasn't me. Maybe you? The ATOMS do the great & goofy 'Beatlejacket'. The wirdo sounds of 012 are next w/'Fish From Tahiti' which is on the Weird Noise comp on Fuck Off Records. SHOES THIS HIGH were from New Zealand not England but they were great. 'The Nose One' is the best from their rare EP. Were they British, they would have made many records for Step Forward. It's true! Now go out, buy fish & chips & bottles of lager & crank this the fuck up. It's great! Thanks to Spider for all help."  That should be enough to make the vinyl interesting and a second part is possible in the foreseeable future, maybe.

Another Chaos In Compilation from Tough Ain't Enough which came out in an edition of 600 copies in different colored vinyl and this time with thirteen bands from the Basque Country. In the usual excellent presentation, but since this is unfortunately not my rip, the infos aren't within, but I deceide this because I listen now to this cool record and that's reason enough. Catchy melodic songs on the whole, hardly Hardcore but vehemently dust-free and very pleasant. I am always amazed by the fantastic music that is created from all parts of our planet and never stops. It's never too late to get off your ass and not accept everything. This also applies to me. Well, nice record, every tone a hit! First post in August brings us a brilliant Compilation from Spock Productions and 500 copies of these two 45's were pressed and this release was a benefit for "Secours Populaire Français", a non profit organization which has been fighting against povertyall around the world since the end of World War II, and still is. I love these kind of records with international bands because, on the one hand, you can usually only hear them on these kind of Compilations and, on the other hand, I like to feel the vibes of these countries. And that's what happens here with twelve really good, varied songs. And I guess that's also the passion of the small label that has unfortunately only released about a dozen 7Inches, but each one is certainly a real gem. Well, it was fun to digitize them and there will be more material at the weekend, so stay tuned.

Now comes a recommendation, so don't be surprised if there's no download link available, but it is important to mention this brilliant record, because who has an overview of when and where which gem is released??? V/A - Attack Is Now Suicide 1988

A short appearance from me and in my mind is the next record, a fucking hot Compilation of the late Eighties and released in 1988 by the small but equally important German label Double A Records in collaboration with Americans from Phantom Records and is chock full of superb international Hardcore/Punk material with some exclusive highlights. US.Distress opens the musical ecstasy with an fucking energetic track and so it happens one after the other, short and intense songs (especially the Vatican Commandos & Dusk is a brilliant example with an unusual title and a rough sound and Dresden 45 contributes the longest track, which bears the band's name and creates a dark atmosphere). This beauty offers a diverse mix of aggressive and experimental sounds. Although not all tracks are equally strong, Attack Is Now Suicide is an interesting contemporary document of the Hardcore & Punk scene around the world of the late 1980s. The album also contains a folded insert with band photos and song lyrics which is not included within.

Last volume of this small tape Compilation series from U.P.C. with even more bands from former Yugoslavia. I thought there were only two volumes but the network of friends sometimes works well and so I was able to enjoy this fantastic sucker which, like its predecessors, has a lot to offer, very good songs by twelve bands, variable and all in an excellent quality. You won't die of a heart attack while listening to, but the level of rough sound and unconditional hardness will melt the paste of the wallpaper. Jaja, and the beer tastes more intense in the early morning, believe me.

Fantastic Compilation which came out via Jungle Hop International and is dedicated to French Punk/Hardcore and full with rare and exclusive blasts by eleven bands. The first pressing came with a yellow cover and this blood was released a year later, comes with a nice lyric/info-sheet just the way I like it. And there's nothing more to say, I'm a bit kaputt from yesterday, too much alcohol and little sleep. Enjoy the record and the sun and keep your good mood.

V/A - United Skins 1982

Today a nice Compilation that was released on the Boots & Braces record label in the early Eighties and the album title has a fundamental meaning. At that time there were significant fights or conflicts in the skinhead scene that were rather stupid and unnecessary. Of course also because of the right-wing scums who called themselves skinheads and had no idea where the culture came from (unfortunately it remains unchanged to this day). I think I don't have to use my mental cells any further, you know the stories, but you don't know where I got the record from. I bought them at a flea market in Berlin many many years ago and I was quite surprised to see them offered for so little bucks, apparently the record god meant well for me. Today you'll have a hard time getting the original because it's banned through the usual channels, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. All seven bands were by no means right-wing at the time and their songs are good and belong to Oi like alcohol to beer. Of course, everyone knows today that Skrewdriver took a broken path and that's the only reason why the slab has become a rarity. Crazy, right! But that is humanity: stupid and extremely stupid. Well, I'm open now an alcoholic drink, enjoy the day off and see what else can happen here today. Enjoy the music!

V/A - Where Birdmen Flew Revisited Vol.3 1999

Before I go to the orthopedic surgeon, I take advantage of the free time and send a sign of life with the following fantastic compilation from 'Down Under', a small series called Where Birdmen Flew Revisited enjoyed a small guest appearance at the end of the Nineties and is very welcome in my house. On the one hand because I love the music from there, on the other hand their singles are difficult to obtain in Europe and yes, there are numerous bootlegs with well known bands, which are almost all essential and therefore many of the bands and songs are similar, but we had this theme before, and yet it's good that new or tried-and-tested comps are constantly being published from there and they always piques my interest. It's difficult to get hold of these records these days and unfortunately they always cost a lot of money, but it's worth it. Volume 1 is a killer and this record as well.

Released via Birdnest Records gives this double record set an fantastic impression of the Swedish underground scene with bands that have caused a sensation with good Powerpunk rock since the mid-eighties, all this were recorded live during Totalgalan, the 18th and 19th of October 1991. This is the CD Version and we find we also infos inside but only in Swedish. But I'm sure these little bio or liner notes express what can be heard, namely a solid selection of bands/songs that achieved a bit of fame in their country and outside of it. Check out the blog and you will find studio material for many of the protagonists mentioned here. Cool piece!

Last X-Mas post and it's an interesting Compilation which was released in 2002, and this Sucker compiles both sides of previous singles from renowned French combos at the heyday of fresh, rough and awesome music. Most of them are probably familiar to you because the original 7Inches are in the blog and many are also represented on other comps. My contribution on today's date, and you know this time is nothing spectacular for me, but I'm not alone on this earth, but here is something special for you: Kylmää Joulua! (A Cold Christmas!) is the Finnish Christmas greeting that was released 1978 by the essential Poko Rekords as a 12Inch as promotional use, which includes ten splendid Punk and Rock versions of traditional Christmas carols by early Finnish combos. At the time, only 500 copies of the album were pressed, and it was distributed free of charge to partners and close friends of the bands appearing on the album, among others. In 2007, a remastered CD version of the album appeared, which was printed in thousand copies and this file is this version, the original is damn rare and an expensive affair these days. The back cover said that the B-side contains the song 'Silent Night' performed by an Orchestra called "Tampere Chamber Ensemble", but in fact nothing was pressed on it. It's really terrible what's only coming out of the radio today, of course I don't need to hear it, but while my eyes are watering from cutting onions, Hardcore/Punk isn't efficient, so I just stop working in the kitchen and focus on the next slab, which isn't at the top of the British Punkrock region, although the bands all have an excellent PowerPop/Punk to offer, but apart from the Cigarettes and Half Life, the others remained largely unknown to me. Well, this big Nugget was released via Dead Good Records and has all infos and fifteen fantastic X-Mas songs you need.... a fresh and sweet sounding record... back for preparing dinner, Bon Appétit!

Second Compilation from this cool series which came via Really Fast Records and again 1600 copies were pressed. And on these records are only Swedish bands who celebrate more fast and aggressive Hardcore/Punk and to preserve a monument to them this little idea was born. Some made it onto vinyl, others only on those gems. This edition also comes, like Volume 1, in a beautiful poster sleeve with pictures, artwork and information about the bands, a solid release, Enjoy!
