SNFU - She’s Not On The Menu 7'' 1987

SNFU (She's Not Fuckin' U) is a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1981 in Edmonton, Alberta and later relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia. They have released nine full-length albums and are cited as a formative influence on the skate punk sub-genre, as well as the punk rock scene at large. From their founding in 1981 by lead singer Mr.Chi Pig and brother's Marc and Brent Belke, the band has broken up and reformed numerous times, each time gaining more and more loyal fans along the way eager to share the gospel of SNFU with the next generation. This 7'' was self-released by the band, 500 pressed with silk-screened covers. Side A recorded 1984 and is another mix of the original song (which is much better as this), side B from December 1982. Saw them 2009 live here in Frankfurt and they were fuckin' brilliant - You Need This!!!

SNFU - ...And No One Else Wanted To Play 1987

Slept long today, had a fucking night so it's time for a Jever - Now we move westwards to Edmonton where we meet SNFU with their brilliant debut album on Better Youth Organization which has remained influential in underground circuits. They grew in popularity following two further studio albums, but disbanded in 1989 due to internal tensions. The album made an immediate impact in the underground punk scene, with noted artist Pushead writing in Maximumrocknroll that the album's "[r]igorous energy push[es] the limits of power with knocking flurry and extreme excitement." Pushead concluded that the album was "A Scorcher." I had this vinyl with the Europe cover but I can't find them anywhere. I know, I loaned and borrowed many records and today I miss a few.... Assholes! Howsoever, there is nothing you can't not find in the modern world. Well, fourteen Muntermacher and grap the She's Not On The Menu EP too.

SLAM - End Of Laughter 1987

Third and final album by Slam from Gävle and line-up on these fifteen songs were Zone (vocals), Thomas & Uffe (guitars), Pär (bass), Tony (drums) and the year after they got the chance after releasing this album (in the US by Subcore Records) and embarked on a two month U.S. tour that resulted in twenty-seven shows at various venues which made them playing together with such acts as Circle Jerks, Gang Green, SNFU and many more. Slam's last show was in 1987 at the now defunct Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen, and Fagersta Fokets Hus. No further material have been released until 2008 when they appear on 'Svenska Punk Klassiker Vol.2'. Here's a review which I feel the same way: "Out of the fifteen mid-tempo Punk songs here, most are made up of delicate guitar leads, simple drum beats, and droning vocals that lean toward the dark side. Maybe the songs are too long, maybe the band doesn’t live up to their name, but this slab just doesn’t stand out. (Martin Sprouse, MRR #42 • November 1986)Well, unfortunately they didn't make a big bang with this record but I recommend checking their debut album which is a complete different caliber.

- Great Thx to Fredrik -
