KULTA DIMENTIA - Außer Funktion 2x7'' 1997

I rummaged around a bit on my hard drive and found something suitable for today. For this we travel to Austria’s capital and meet Kulta Dimentia, a four piece from Vienna and consisted of Tom (vocals), Philipp (guitars), Eva (bass), Roman (drums) and this is their only 7Inch, but there are two of them, which was released three years after the debut album. The band is known for its metallic Punk style and combines both genres in an excellent way. The band has made a name for itself in the local music scene and attracts audiences with its energetic performances. Characterized by profound themes, their lyrics deal with both personal and social issues. Catchy melodies and harmonious instrument behavior lead to a varied sound experience, which has helped them gain a bit of popularity and they have immortalized how it all comes across live on a CD, which was recorded on December 21st in Vienna's Flex. Overall OK.

THE COURT - I Wüü Net 7'' 1985

It's not easy to write about a band when you can't find anything about them on the internet, but that just shows how damn rare this little round black one is, and today it comes by a four-piece band called The Court (Herbie (vocals/guitars), Andeas (bass), Leopold (keyboard) and Kurt (drums), presumably from Vienna, and this two-sided cracker was born by Karma Records. Musically, they move somewhere between Hardrock and Punk at a decent tempo, with a shrill voice in charming Austrian slang and, as far as I can understand, some solid lines. The Flip tries harder and seems a bit more cheeky, because the screeching keyboard wants to go through the ceiling like an alarm, it's amazing. I'm glad I finally managed to check my hard drive again, is sometimes like a treasure hunt with exquisite finds, enjoy!

V/A - Attack Is Now Suicide 1988

A short appearance from me and in my mind is the next record, a fucking hot Compilation of the late Eighties and released in 1988 by the small but equally important German label Double A Records in collaboration with Americans from Phantom Records and is chock full of superb international Hardcore/Punk material with some exclusive highlights. US.Distress opens the musical ecstasy with an fucking energetic track and so it happens one after the other, short and intense songs (especially the Vatican Commandos & Dusk is a brilliant example with an unusual title and a rough sound and Dresden 45 contributes the longest track, which bears the band's name and creates a dark atmosphere). This beauty offers a diverse mix of aggressive and experimental sounds. Although not all tracks are equally strong, Attack Is Now Suicide is an interesting contemporary document of the Hardcore & Punk scene around the world of the late 1980s. The album also contains a folded insert with band photos and song lyrics which is not included within.

1.Who Possesses You? - U.S. DISTRESS
2.British Troops In Cyprus - SIC BOY FEDERATION
3.Housewives On Valium - VATICAN COMMANDOS & DUSK
4.Fjernsyn - O.H.M.
5.Bimbirimbirimbam - S.H. DRAUMUR
6.Werewolf's Life - FEAR ITSELF
7.Intolerance 2:24 - I DENY
8.When You've Got The Choice - DAWN OF LIBERTY
9.Dresden 45 - DRESDEN 45
10.Korruption - EXTREM
11.Don't Waste Your Time - COLLAPS
12.Paralized - RANCID DECAY
13.Nor & Far - RAPED TEENAGERS
14.Russia Nuked Themselves - STIKKY
15.Aggression - NO FRAUD
16.Koyhat Kyykuyn - TERVEYSKESKUS
17.Breakfast Of Champions - PROBLEM CHILDREN
18.Call For Freedom 3:14 - ASOCIAL
19.Ain't No Crime - DAMAGE
20.Gente - SUBTERRANEAN KIDS
21.Fuck S.A.C.E.M. - PIN PRICK

MORDBUBEN AG - Angst Vorm Rock'n Roll? 1980

Yesterday was an exciting match and unfortunetaly with the happy ending for Leipzig, but deserved in the end and it was good to meet my old buddy again. Let's come now to an older rip I did in 2011 but somehow the slab fell into oblivion but I redid the scans, the old ones sucked. We travel to beautiful Vienna and meet one of the first austrian Punk bands ever, the Mordbuben AG and they made four 7Inches, one full-length and guests on lots of Compilations, their songs have a perfect dose of untypical loud & rough Punk'N'Roll with magical Viennese dialect. The AG were formed 1978 and were, along with Chuzpe, the most essential band of the Viennese Punk scene and on this bloody record the band consisted of Wörndi (vocals), Fredi (guitars), Hardy (drums). Ten great tracks you can listen here and you definitely don't have to be afraid because it contains exactly what you want. Highly recommended is the release on RaveUp Records Mia Woan De Stören which was released in 2018 in a limited edition of 350 copies (partly on green vinyl) with songs from the singles and other rare material. Enjoy the sound, the sun and Sunday!

PSY-9 - I Don't Want To Get Old 7'' 1998

PSY-9 was found in Summer 1996. After hard years of growing up in the so called town "S.T.P.-Rock-City", these three guys found together again to start their mission. It was definitely not the first band the members played in. Every band member played in different other combos before, so everyone had great knowledge & experience, and brought this into the band when they started in August 1996. Fast, aggressive Hardcore/Punk turned into slower, more rocking melodic sounds, this was in summer 1998. They started to write songs like "I Don't Wanna Get Old" or "Big Teen Burnout", and they got really more acceptance with this kind of noises, so they got involved more and more into the underground scene. PSY-9 crashed into every fucking record company in Austria to get a deal, but they had no actual material of the new songs, so it happened that they went into the Matterhorn studios in Vienna in December 1998. They produced two 7Inches together with Matterhorn-Music-Productions in four days in December 1998. A total of three albums were released until 2002 and some time later they went into a well-deserved musical afterlife. This 7Inch was sold more than 500 times + it's a classic record.

DÄMMERATTACKE - Das Märchen EP 1981

Damn, I'm late with this slab, it was requested seven years ago and I said yes. Sorry for the extreme delay, but I'll take care of it today. Not many records exist from this combo which were formed by school friends 1979 in the Wiener Neustadt called Dämmerattacke and the line-up were Walter (vocals/guitar), Thomas (bass), Wolfgang (drums), Erich (keys), Michael (sax/vocals) and 1980 they performed together with X-Beliebig @ the Vienna Amerlingbeisl and gained attraction of Austrian Punk pioneer Panza who released this fucking 7Inch on his Panza-Platte label (200 copies) and we enjoy four shallow New Wave goodies and if you want to get the original EP you have to dig deep into your pockets, which of course is completely exaggerated in my opinion, there is no re-release either (their only album Tausend Seen was reissued in 2012 in an limited edition, if that interests you). The album received unfortunately not much attention (I think the Punk community wasn't open to this kind of music) and after this commercial failure the band was dropped by distributor Ariola and folded by its members. Thomas and Wolfgang later formed the Bates Men.

I have to admit, I can't listen to their songs all the time, I have to be in the right mood and it may sound clichéd, but this is exactly the right music for gray November days like today. But it's all a matter of taste, as always. Dämmerattacke is a clinical term for states of short-term altered consciousness and now decide whether you wanted to do this to yourself or not... I say: you can do it!

HERWIG MITTEREGGER - Kein Mut-Kein Mädchen 1983

First solo album from Herwig Mitteregger and I bought it because of the terrific 'Kalt Wie Ein Stein' single which became one of my favorite songs and I still enjoy listening to it nowadays. A bit info: "Herwig was ahead of his time. His music is far more akin to the Punk it originally came from than the typical Spliff sound. Less pop, more rock is the order of the day here. Production techniques that were innovative at the time, multifaceted arrangements and ingenious ideas when writing Mitteregger's words make this album something special. Kein Mut - Kein Mädchen is a diverse and inspired album that was unparalleled at the time." (Source: Deutsche-Mugge) - Eight atmospherically varied songs, including a cool cover version of AC/DC, are gathered on this record, which aren't always funny, but inspire and still have a merriment here and there. Good stuff!

RADICAL CHIC - Wien Ist In 7'' 1981

Radical Chic was a short-lived combo from Vienna and this is their only record on WEA Records with two nice New Wave goodies. The band were founded in the early Eighties by Annie (vocals), Werner (vocals & guitars), Thomas (bass), Hans (keyboard) and that's all infos I could find. I guess, the band was a small project to chase away boredom and implement a melody that was circling around in the brains of the Four as a long-running favorite. Well, Wien Ist In is a funky groove number while the flip is an instrumental that shows the band's musical skills, that's it.

NEUER FRÜHLING - Abendlos 7'' 1982

The swim day is over and the dry season will soon seem like a desert land but who cares. Now minimal synth/NDW stuff by this short-lived Austrian combo called Neuer Frühling from Vienna on CBS with two surprisingly catchy songs. I can't say much about the band, some information says there are only two in the band, others report five members, in the end it doesn't matter because the 7inch is cool and there's nothing more to tell. Bundesliga in brief with the first away game in Berlin.

V/A - 1984 The Third 2LP 1987

One of my favorite compilations is the double album by the important French label New Wave Records, who released a small series called 1984 in the Eighties with tons of international bands and every release is a direct hit in my opinion. Also Freunde, Volume 3 was pressed 1500 times and there are thirty-eight bands/songs to discover, plus a detailed booklet with lots of infos and lyrics and and and... I love such loving and detailed slabs because they not only make an impact acoustically, but also visually and I'm certainly not alone there, and on days off like these, the pleasure is doubly pleasant. The only downside is that I have to write so much and don't like to write much. I've already thought about not writing anything anymore, but I don't like that either. What a conflict hahaha... Now I'll open a beer and the subtle reference to Volume 4 (the last part) and the first two will follow... someday!

NUDLAUG' - Mei Art 7'' 1981

Now an interesting band, probably from Vienna, with their only 7Inch on Kovarik's Musikothek. Nudlaug' were Randy (vocals), Andy (guitar), Fritz (bass), Ulli (drums) and they recorded two decent rockin' numbers and the classic 'My Way' is brilliantly celebrated by the four in Austrian and that's something a Punk must have heard in this life, really a great performanceThe flip is a piece of their own, which also comes dynamic and refreshing. About the band itself I can't say much, apparently they took advantage of the moment and got together for a record, which doesn't confirm any compilation invites as well. But that is a minor matter, this small round slab is big fun and a delicious Schmankerl!!!

V/A - Planet Punk #4 2005

Second and last part of Planet Punk and with Volume 3, this little self-made series is already complete. H2D#26 is another tidbit full of rare stars from international bands that are still kicking ass, much in demand and popular in our fucking disillusioned times which bring little decent music to light in my opinion. Music is like inventions, there is nothing innovative that can really impress me, hardly any wow factor or thing that I can really admire. And I would say that for almost twenty years. Speaking of music, we all hear & see the so called "combos" thrown together, the TV shows which offer only shit and are played over and over by radio stations, all this crap is boring, repetitive and only geared towards profit, commercial shit and really sucks. It's really intoxicating to get acquainted with such music as on this further fantastic compilation and to eke out an existence far away from this dead & dull society. That are the words for Sunday, Amen! Enjoy the vibes of the good ole days!

FALCO - Jeanny 7'' 1985

Another artist of the New German Wave was Falco from Vienna, who conquered the world with his Kommissar at the beginning of the Eighties, and was one of the most successful interpreters of this pop culture. In contrast to many other musicians, he was able to establish himself consistently with his music. After a short low phase he could build on old successes with his album Nachtflug at the beginning of the Nineties again. A bit backgound: Jeanny is the title of a series of songs, the first part of which sparked one of the greatest scandals in the history of German-language pop music. When Jeanny was published, there were allegations that the title played down or glorified rape, although the text didn't explicitly mention violence. However, it shows the perspective a rapist might have on his victim. The way in which the text is presented also allows the conclusion that it is a matter of a stalker who kidnaps his victim because of spurned love and kills him in his madness. The Newsflash part of the song reports a "dramatic increase in the number of missing people" and "another tragic case" of a nineteen year old girl who had been missing for fourteen days, where the police can't rule out the possibility of a crime.

Well, such views are typical of some moral apostle who only scratch the surface and cannot look deeper. Some radio stations fell for it and boycotted the song "for ethical reasons", absolutely ridiculous. Falco himself said in 1986: “Jeanny is alive, that is clear from the text and the video. Part II of Jeanny will prove in the fall that the man is the real victim. It's not for nothing that he ends up in the loony bin at the end, completely knocked out by Jeanny."

I say, a brilliant love song of a different kind with a lot of passion, obsession and still a classic! - On February 6, 1998, Falco died in a car accident on the road between the towns of Villa Montellano and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. R.I.P.

V/A - Planet Punk #3 2004

Planet Punk is/was another serie of selfmade compilations/revival from Chuck Warner’s Hyped2Death efforts, and before your requests for Volume 1 + 2 come, these are not available. The first appearances of this homework label in this theater have already been made through the Bad Teeth series and H2D is focused on early KBD slabs, sometimes worldwide, sometimes country-specific, and this Fucker is dedicated to rare European stuff. The exact year of publication is given by me, because I believe that it must have been generated at this time, of course I can be wrong, but that doesn't really matter, it is important that they exist and that people like Chuck make such treasures tangible and unforgettable, I am like him and as a regular reader of this blog you already got to know some nuggets from WDM RecordsWell, you can listen to thirty decent cool songs, most of them already on vinyl (click on the top left), but this compilation is just this kind of work that was cobbled with passion, a lot of time, heart & soul and deserves your respect and attention. Enjoy the delicate tones and Volume #4 is coming soon.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World #5 2019

Early hour on this Friday, I pack another Bloodstains compilation out with more rare early sounds from all over the world, and Volume 3 is once again as CD-R in vinyl look released and by the same detectives, I think. Half of the twenty songs are known to me and are always welcome, while the 'new' material is sometimes questionable and I personally would have made a different selection. But with so many unknown bands/songs I'm always amazed where music was made with sometimes first-class nuggets. And I don't hesitate long, as soon as a new release of this brilliant series is available. It's a shame that Killed By Death doesn't go any further. Maybe there comes one more hype like in the 90s, who knows. 100 copies exist and watch out for #6 next year. Have fun discovering new musical highlights!

1.Wanted - STRUGGLER
2.Riot Riot - BOMB SQUAD

Weil heute so ein scheiß' Wetter ist bekommt ihr einen Nachschlag, two 10 inches, all songs live and I'm sure you've all heard or downloaded a record of the Your Choice Live Series before, and if not, the uncle won't let you die stupid. The series began in the late 80s, lasted until the mid 90s and the last effort was in 2002 and since then is Schicht. The plates were mainly characterized by the very good recordings and brought rather more unknown bands a platform on which they could show what they can (mostly fast & loud)As you can read, these are songs that didn't make it onto the regular albums, including some covers and other specialties. A total of thirty-five records were published, two of them on the blog. Das war's für heute, now I'm making myself comfortable and touring France, Salut!

1.Bankrobber - SO MUCH HATE
2.Passing Through - LIFE, BUT HOW TO LIVE IT?
3.Smash It Up - LIFE, BUT HOW TO LIVE IT?
4.It Doesn't Make It Allright - VERBAL ASSAULT

HOTEL MORPHILA ORCHESTER - Schwarze Energie 1982

"Punk Meets Art", unique and grandiose interpreted. We're talking about Hotel Morphila Orchester from Vienna, founded 1978 by Peter Weibel (vocals) and Loys Egg (guitar), completed by Paul (guitars), Franz (bass) & Wolfgang (drums). After their 7Inch Dead In The Head on Extraplatte they released a short time later via Schalter their first full-length. A bit of information about the style of the band: Peter's long, programmatic preface corresponds to the artist's staccato on stage: an eruption of key words, text fragments, codes and associations “in his unmistakable style, in which no syllable can be certain that it will not be swallowed up by the flood of words "(Thomas Kramar,"Die Presse"). But that's what one expects and hopes for from Weibel and his Hotel Orchestra: wise words in the corset of well-hung 70s rock'n'rolls: "Schwarze Energie", the combo's splendid debut." But not only excellently lyrically, also musically the four play a solid mid-tempo Rock'n'Roll, not quite so hard but that wouldn't fit. I added two bonus tracks but I don't know where from. They split up in the 80s, reformed in 2011 and a new album Face To Face came out and before that, this album was re-released. A furious masterpiece celebrated with an inspiring dark swing. By the way, cool cover, looks like mine!

BLOODY MARY - Chaos Im Wohnzimmer EP 1998

One more highlight from Mr. Reinhard, my special Austria connection, and he brings us another brillinat record closer. The Vienna riot grrrl band: Bloody Mary, founded in 1994 and disbanded so about 2003. They played many gigs and were an integral and important part of the Austrian punk scene around the EKH (Ernst-Kirchweger-Haus, the occupied Anarchist center in Vienna) and there were also their rehearsal room. I think, this is their only release and Bloody Hell, it's awesome. Tracks like "Sick Of You", "Money Sucks" or "Impotentes Bullenschwein" cut directly into society's face and are absolutely to my taste. Seven bitches from hell on it, great playin', short songs, clean production, nice girls, rare record, fast download, sunny weather, cool band name, no failures, Easter....so enough reasons to fuck with this band and say hello!!!

RONNIE URINI - Sail, Ship 7'' 1986

An old friend in this blog is Mr. multi-talented Ronnie Urini, Austrian sub-culture icon. The list of his publications is endless and his numerous band projects as well. Search for more examples and you'll discover lots of different stuff. This rare record was released on Sparkling Records and is a pretty chanson which should be enjoy in a romantic escapade with a glass of wine. The B side is the instrumental version. Once again, a small jewel from Ronnie which occurs day and night with large optical Ray-Ban Sunglasses and has built a myth around his figure by the indissoluble mixture of truth and fiction.
