THE CURE - Live @ Whiskey A Go Go 27.07.1981

Another interesting work on vinyl is the following two record set by Casino Records Entertainment, 350 hand numbered copies in yelloy splatter colors features a fine quality recording from the 1981 Picture tour with plenty of gloomy numbers. Has already been published several times and now again with rare photos and decent format. The sound is rich and full and extremely well recorded. I've heard a few bootlegs from the Cure, some of them extremely unfunny, but with this release everything is just right and if you like the band's early works, you've come to the right place. Eighteen Songs, Eighteen Nuggets! Dinner salmon is waiting. Cheers!

V/A - Where Birdmen Flew Revisited Vol.3 1999

Before I go to the orthopedic surgeon, I take advantage of the free time and send a sign of life with the following fantastic compilation from 'Down Under', a small series called Where Birdmen Flew Revisited enjoyed a small guest appearance at the end of the Nineties and is very welcome in my house. On the one hand because I love the music from there, on the other hand their singles are difficult to obtain in Europe and yes, there are numerous bootlegs with well known bands, which are almost all essential and therefore many of the bands and songs are similar, but we had this theme before, and yet it's good that new or tried-and-tested comps are constantly being published from there and they always piques my interest. It's difficult to get hold of these records these days and unfortunately they always cost a lot of money, but it's worth it. Volume 1 is a killer and this record as well.

1.Heart Attack - WORLD WAR XXIV
2.Piracy - QUEEN ANNE'S REVENGE

RAMONES - @ Sporthalle/Böblingen, Germany 20.11.1989

October starts with an excellent live Bootleg from the no less excellent RamonesA while ago the record was mentioned in the comments as one of the best live recordings by the four and so I went looking for it. And I found it and can absolutely confirm these words. Top quality for a recording from the end of the eighties and the track list on the cover is not complete, there are a total of twenty-five songs that I filtered out and the rip took almost three hours (cutting, converting, adjusting the sound, etc.) but live slabs are always a challenge that I'm happy to accept. And the result is a perfect rip with the quality I want. I'm really grateful that you continue to provide me with first-class information or recommendations which lead me to discovering new stuff. Please keep it up and don't get tired of it, I thank you with this post, which I know many will enjoy, because a Ramones record, in this case, is always a good reason to get back to yourself... and Life.

Have fun with this Blast, and welcome autumn!

V/A - Spit On Your Grave! Vol.2 2004

Ahhh, it's so nice that there are still holidays, even if they are religious in origin. I always welcome them and I think there should be more of them. Today is one of those and we'll come to one more post and it's the second & final Compilation from Buried Alive Recordings with more rare KBD goodies of early American stuff and like Volume 1 this selection is also impressive. Just wait a minute, I still have to buy some alcohol.... well, unfortunately there isn't a lot of information here either, cheap packaging and there isn't a 1977 song on it, but that doesn't bother you because the CD is well stocked and you can buy a copy cheaply or look for the original 7Inches which is almost impossibleNow it's time to dust off my place, prepare a delicious meal later, create covers for a self-made compilation and maybe a third post will follow, ma gugge.

1.Fifi Goes Pop - TINA PEEL
2.Take Me To Your Leader - THE PUDZ
3.Good Bad - THE BONERS
4.I Saw It - DEEP WOUND

V/A - Where Birdmen Flew Revisited Vol.1 1999

Rare & long deleted Compilation series with rare late Seventies early Eighties Australian Punk singles, which was limited of 1000 handnumbered copies. From 'Down Under' there are numerous such records and some with the same bands/tracks, but it's always a pleasure to discover something new and familiar and I love the sound from there. As a result, my radar is always active by music from the distant fifth continent. Six bands, twenty songs, plus a small booklet and you have an interesting and important record, that let us review the wild and early days in this part of the world and keep an eye out for their records. Cheers!

V/A - No Control At The Country Club (Live) EP 1990

Well, it's time for a fancy compilation with live recordings by four U.S. bands, released by Nemesis Records (600 copies). Three unknown combos (to me) and one that every Punk must know. I guess this 7Inch is an unofficial piece of vinyl but the recordings are consistently acceptable and after ten minutes the short gig is already over. I think, it was a cheap buy at a record fair and since fucking Covid there hasn't been one here. Well, everything comes back... A bit info from the back cover: "On December 1989 the last great West Coast Hardcore show of the Eighties was held, for those of you who were there, great, and for those who weren't, oh well. Here's an audio documentation of classic and upcoming Hardcore bands." Yeah, that should be enough, enjoy!

1.Protect And Serve - CARRY NATION
2.Money Is Freedom - VISUAL DISCRIMINATION
3.Feel Their Pain - INSTED
4.I Want Something More/We're Only Gonna Die - BAD RELIGION

Uhhaaa... next round of the grandiose Powerpearls series, today with Volume #6 and you know what that means. Seventeen fresh PowerPop nuggets from all over the world have made it onto this Compilation and the selection is once again considerable and equipped with plenty of rare 7inches (one song per record). It's been a long time since I discovered this style of music with enthusiasm and since then I have had a number of Schnittchen as guests in my house and basically no more words are needed to review this rare record I think, do you agree? Let's do it like this, it's best to use the opportunity to leave your review/opinion in the comment section, that's what it's for and I'd be really interested in what you think about the material, and please, don't be shy. 😌 I say: this package is damn cool and a must have for any true wdthtc follower, Enjoy!

V/A - Spit On Your Grave! Vol.1 2004

Looking pretty professional at first glance, but Buried Alive Recordings is the name of a bootleg label from Spain and they have released two CD's with rare American KBD stuff from 7Inches 1978-1983, included some rare tracks and others which always used for such CompilationsSparsely held to infos, only the most necessary, release year, covers and nothing more (b.t.w. dizzy cover 😵). All in all, I think it's a successful selection and absolutely worth listening to, and it's not expensive to buy either. With that, another chapter weekend is heralded and volume 2 follows if you live well-behaved and uninhibitedSo come on, you Maniacs!

DEAD KENNEDYS - @ The Farm, San Francisco 24.05.1985

Now for a current sad occasion a superb live recording by the fantastic Dead Kennedys and this record is one of a three vinyl record set called DK 40D.H. Peligro, drummer the band, crashed at his home in Los Angeles on October 28, 2022 and succumbed to his head injury shortly thereafter. How he did it remains a fucking mystery. Fact is, the world is losing another great musician, even if he testified against Jello Biafra in the legal dispute between the former members and Jello after the dissolution, he will not be forgotten. So today's post is dedicated to him and I think a live record is just the right choice, because his skills and dynamic are here unpolished and demonstrate how important he was for the music of the best American Punk band ever in my opinion. Now enjoy these fifteen crispy recordings, pay your respect and remember him positively... R.I.P.

TROOPS OF THE SUN - Rehearsal For Magdeburg 18.09.2021

OK folks, now rare stuff by Troops Of The Sun which you can't buy or stream or anything like that... The band was formed after the fatal end of Serene Fall and basically picks up where it left off. No wonder, first as Carrows which made a demo and shortly thereafter renamed Troops. Parallels to the early days of Serene Fall are undeniable. The current line-up consists of Maul (vocals/guitars), Lumpi (guitars), Eddie (bass), Uli (drums) and they made one album (2019) and one 12Inch (2021). Stylistically, the four move in a dark, melancholic, almost epic sound and tell stories that are mostly unfunny and develop a real affection with hymn-like choral passages. Because all the shit around us that we face on a daily basis, makes us angry and tired, and the band manages to pound it in your face with terrifying clarity. Life doesn't mean pretending and always swallowing shit, NO! ... Life means standing by yourself and representing your ideals, regardless of the losses. And sometimes it takes bands like this to remind us not to be or become an Asshole.

THE ADICTS - The Peel Sessions 1979 EP [2015]

Again a fine John Peel session record, this time by the Adicts from Ipswich, influential and idiosyncratic British Punk outfit known for their wry lyrics, ferocious yet upbeat sonic attack, and distinctive image (still an active and popular live treat 😊); on Pirate Love Records which came in an edition of 300 copies. This goodie was recorded on 20.November 1979 and broadcast on 5.December. I really have to say, this DJ has done a great job and made many bands known and is certainly appreciated in the music scene, but are there any honors, remembrances or anything else? Admittedly, I haven't really done any research, but a lot of superfluous shit is remembered and the real, innovative personalities are forgotten. It's a damn gray World! On this nice one we have four classics and everyone who knows the boys will be delighted and those who don't know them will be this as well. Enjoy!

MARILLION - @ Rundsporthalle, Baunatal 01.10.1983

Now a really awesome bootleg by Marillion and this concert was broadcasted back then on a cold December winter evening at the HR3 radio station and you can't imagine how fitting & great this for me was during this dark timesI was unhappily in love again and was looking for solace in music, this year the band's debut album came out, which immediately appealed to me and then, to top it all off, this transmission comes, better than winning the lottery. Screw love when you experience a moment like this. The sound quality is excellent and Fish tries really hard to present his German which works brilliantly and as it was obviously their first visit in this country and I think he has it mastered brilliantly and it's a pleasure to listen to. Last week my mind got stuck on this tape and to be honest I don't know when I last played a cassette but I searched for it on the net and it was published as 'German Script' and of course I grabbed it immediately and for all of you Marillion fans out there, here it is! Now enjoy eighty minutes of a fantastic performance.

SHAM 69 - John Peel Session 28.11.1977 EP [2020]

Another unofficial release of an early John Peel session, this time by Sham 69 and the line-up on these recordings were Jimmy (vocals), Dave (guitars), Dave P. (bass), Mark (drums) and I guess, I don't have to tell you much about this early English and brilliant band. Founded 1975 in Hersham and with Borstal Breakout If The Kids Are United they create two immortal hymns and everyone who listens to Punkrock must know this bloody songs and both will long be heard while you and I rot in eternal black! If not, catch up immediately! Maybe together with them, but that's a fartz. The four hasn't commercially successful as many of their contemporaries, albeit with a greater number of chart entries, Sham 69 has been a huge musical and lyrical influence on the Oi! and streetpunk genres. The band allegedly derived their name from a piece of football-related graffiti that founder Jimmy Pursey saw on a wall, which originally said Walton and Hersham '69 but had partly faded away. Numerous albums were released just waiting for you to hear and they are still touring the world, be sure they are coming to your town. Some compilations in the blog aren't unimportant as well. Enjoy five rough goodies in a row and in one go.

V/A - It's All Been Said Before... EP 1993

...Yes, it's a bootleg Punk!' and not a bad one at all. For an unofficial release, the artwork (a 9-Page booklet sleeve) is amazingly elaborate and available at a low price, I think I paid three euros for this slab. All songs are already been released, details here, and the song/band selection is also impressive and shines with nine fast loud goodiesSome familiar to me, some new. Reason enough to enjoy this record at a relaxed moment. It's going to be hot today, that means 🌞🌊

2.Rules - B.G.K.

4.Police State - STATE

NEW ORDER - @ The Venue, Blackpool U.K. 30.08.1982

It's strawberry season again my friends and for the past few days I've been enjoying 500 fresh grams of them, that I can buy here on the side of the road from a local farmer. Even today, not exactly cheap but fresher. Yesterday I told you, that I have a lot of housework to do and today I finished Part 2 and I can tell you that cleaning windows is exhausting, especially when they are big. It's an old building where I live but I would never want to live anywhere else. For musical accompaniment I had this fantastic soundboard recording of New Order's Blackpool performance from 1982 in and I thought: why not post it? The sound quality is okay throughout and I like the early recordings of the four because I think they combine a perfect fusion of Joy Division & New Order and some of their new stuff is also to my liking and runs temporarily on my turntable. Nine songs but that's enough for an entertaining pastime. And now I want to go out in the sun.

Here we go...

EA80 - @ JUZ Perla Palast/Raunheim 25.04.1987

Ich mache es kurz: Junge (vocals/guitar), Hals Maul (guitars), Nick (bass) & Nico (drums), better known as EA80, with a fantastic live performance captured on tape. Almost thirty-five years ago were these recordings made and are still worth listening. Energetic, funny and absolutely entertaining. I didn't go to the gig at the time because I had already seen their concert at the JUZ-Bockenheim, at least I think it was in the same year, but I could be wrong. However, a visit to the Mönchengladbachers is, and will always be worthwhile. The song selection is as well, even with one non-album track. The surprises contained in a performance by the four are unique and I only know a few bands that can keep up.
Get in and enjoy the evening!

V/A - Powerpearls Vol.4 1999

You certainly weren't waiting for this compi, because it's no longer a rarity in Blogland, but I almost forgot that I have a few of my own rips from this great Powerpearls series, which I wouldn't want to withhold from you. Part IV is again full with rarities of the years 1977-1981 from around planet earth and as always, the bar is set decently high because the originals are as rare as snow in July (North & South Pole area not considered). What should I write next? It's great, that are people who probably have enormous costs associated with such projects and share their collection with us mortal music freaks and therefore have the will and consistency to implement this, pull it through and let us be part of this undiscovered music & bands. I take my hat off and I share a beer or two with those, cheers! Song selection is superb and I'm going off to the weekend and look what comes next.

3.Your I's Are Too Close Together - THE ELEVATORS
4.Downtown - CUBAN HEELS
