V/A - Give Us A Future (TR Compilation) 2018

Wednesday's emotions have largely subsided and things continue as 'normal'. A while ago I took a look at the Turkish Punkscene and this nice compilation on Wargasm Records, which came as a tape out, gives us an interesting overview of bands that are currently active and some that are already history. The bandwidth of the songs is consistently variable and anything but monotonous. All I can say; eighteen solid tracks in excellent quality and in my opinion this piece deserves a vinyl release. Certainly a challenge to establish yourself as Punk in this country, as well as to get performance opportunities that are definitely hard to come by, I guess. That's why it's important to listen and come in touch with this underground scene and, if you can, provide adequate support. Very good release!

UGLY SHADOWS - s/t EP 2015

Sometimes it's worth just looking on the internet and every now and then a little darling pops up. For example following interesting band that recorded some delicious tunes in their short lifespan. The baby is called Ugly Shadows, a four piece from Istanbul and formed 2014 by Gizem (vocals), Can (guitars, Umut (bass), Orkun (drums) and disbanded in 2017. After the band's split up vocalist Gizem, guitarist Can and final era live drummer Murat formed UK82-style combo Crudez. They released a demo, this EP (released on Dark Liquid, 500 copies) and an album which contains all their recordings. Their music is influenced by the early Eighties British Post-Punk-Anarcho style, with female singer and her voice is impressive and charming, and they do a superb job. I like this record, and comparisons with the Greek band Chain Cult are not unreasonable. Definitely not a mayfly!

V/A - Compilation Vol.1 1989

Now an underground compilation with much curious stuff. Besides the well-known bands such as Inferno, MFD, Bobwire and A.K.P. are here mostly young unknown German bands exclusively represented, and the sound range from rehearsal room recordings, studio and live cuts. Sometimes full of noisy tones which reminds me of cut a tree down, you know. The musical range goes from melodic punk to hardcore, one great wave song and always with a good portion tempo under the ass. Probably appeared in small copies and unfortunately no detailed information inside, hmm, that's something I don't like but fuck it! records are made to listen to it and not for read. I've bought the vinyl at the last record fair here and do not regret it. So here stands Volume 1 but I think a sequel was never released. Enjoy the music!

1.Happiness - IMAGES
2.Skater - LOVE LOCKS
3.Rotten Fruits - CRY OF TERROR
4.Leben (Live) - A.K.P.
5.Gnut Of Today - SEHIRLI GNUT
6.Storm - M.F.D.
7.Deutschland - ENTWARNUNG
8.Your's Not Mine - X-WOOLHEAD
9.Leaflets On The Shower-Ground - CONCRETE UNDERPASS
10.Country Roads - JOHN DENVER CLAN
11.Are They Nothing - INFERNO
12.Most Of You (Live) - BAD ATTITUDE
13.1986 - BOBWIRE
14.Jesus Fucking Christ - INVISIBLE VIOLENCE
15.Fistful Of... - ANAL FIST
16.Loss - THORNS
17.A...Total (Machos Fuck Off) - BARSCHELS UNTERHOSEN
18.Drifting Away - SKYLIGHT

TÜNAY AKDENIZ & ÇIGRIŞIM - Meselâ, Mesele! 7'' 1978

Well, let's get a bit exotic with this one. This combo has released their first record in 1970 and I can't tell you really much more where there from and what they doin' yet. They certainly a typical 70s rock band but this record, as you can see on the cover, is written as punkrock, well, it's not the punk I and we know but the a-side is a real earwig, starts with a 'cowboy' guitar & it blows me after listen to the first tone and the sound quick turnes into a decent melodic punk/hardrock tune and I'm immediately impressed and can play this again & again..... pulls really my pants off, where are you girls? The flip is a bit different and goes more into the so called krautrock theme, comes not bad because the turkish voice is awesome. I mean, I know Turkish people here in my city and they're sometimes tiring but this tops everything. Anyway, I'm talk too much, fuck words, this is their fifth and last single, released via Pardon Records and check them in the www and enjoy eight minutes of serenity.
