RUBBER CITY REBELS - s/t LP 1980

Last post March and sailing across the Atlantic and stop in Akron, Ohio and meet the Rubber City Rebels, formed 1977 by Rod (vocals), Buzz (guitar), Donny (bass), Stix (drums) and Pete (keyboards). Let me give you a bit info from wiki: "In their early years, the Rebels were fans (and friends) of fellow Greater Cleveland-area bands the Dead Boys and Devo. Their breakout show was opening for the Dead Boys at legendary New York City rock club CBGB in 1977. This led to a split album with the Bizarros, titled From Akron, which was released that year on Clone Records. The Rebels moved to Los Angeles in 1978, minus Pelton (who was replaced on drums by Mike Hammer) and Sake (keyboards were deemed unnecessary for the band's change to a heavier sound), and gained considerable fame on the Sunset Strip. The band was signed to Sire Records; however, a clash between band and record label ensued and the recording contract was terminated before the Rebels could record their debut album. Following some personnel changes (Damage and Hammer left to form the Hammer Damage Band, replaced by Johnny Bethesda and Brandon Matheson, respectively), the Rebels signed a deal with Capitol Records and the eponymous debut album was released in 1980. Although praised by critics, sales of the album never vaulted the band past its underground status. In 1981 a 7Inch follows and the band faded from the scene and ceased touring in 1988, although they never officially disbanded. Despite not touring or recording any new material through the 1990s, the Rebels' reputation and support among fans remained strong and in 2001 the Rebels were back and still alive." So let's enjoy ten superb Ohio crackers and have a great weekend.

V/A - A Fresh Selection 1981

A not uninteresting record is this gem from the house Fresh Records, a small label founded by Alex Howe's Wretched Records stall in London's Soho Market in 1978. Bands such as the Art Attacks, Second Layer, UK Decay and Manufactured Romance came to the stall looking for an outlet for their records. The label existed until 1982, at which point it became part of the Jungle Records family. This is Fresh 14 and shows a very cool overview of good bands which were not quite unimportant in the English underground scene and their singles are nowadays rare and still audible. Fourteen goodies, including some classics and a decent mix of new wave and punk.... undiluted, proper, tidy, preppy and of course... fresh!

1.Sorrow - DUMB BLONDES
2.Someone's Crying - CUDDLY TOYS
3.Octopus - THE IGLOOS
4.Savoir Faire - FAMILY FODDER
5.Madman - CUDDLY TOYS
6.All Day And All Of The Night - BERNIE TORME
7.Back In The Night - WILKO JOHNSON
8.Unwind - UK DECAY
9.Time Of My Life - MANUFACTURED ROMANCE
10.Hawaii Five-O - THE DARK
11.Ghetto - THE WALL
12.Earbending - J.C.'s MAINMEN

V/A - Hardcore Vol.1 1988

This nice litte compilation was released via Starving Missile and one more Volume 1 of which there is no second, as so often. Mostly German bands present plus two from immediate neighborhood. Twelve, partly only here, solid punkies with the two, for me ingenious EA80 songs, especially Drums Over London which kicks in the original version is awesome. But even the other bands contribute to a not boring listening pleasure, no fillers on board and a top record, 1000 copies exist.

1.Machine Gun - ARTLESS
2.The Common Man - ARTLESS
3.Drums Over London - EA80
4.Straße Nach Nirgendwo - AIDSCATS
5.Kein Anlass Zur Romantik - AIDSCATS
6.Search & Destroy - K.G.B.
7.Woman - CROWD OF ISOLATED
8.Run 'Til Death - CROWD OF ISOLATED
9.Ostsee - EA80
10.Schokolade & Schläge - BOSKOPS
11.Videot - BOSKOPS

RADIKALKUR & E.M.S. - Erkenne Dich Selbst EP 1998

Another fantastic record from Austria with two nice bands. Radikalskur's political punkrock meets the powerful and emotional HC/Punk of E.M.S. - This split EP was released in co-operation with both bands and Paranoia! Records in an edition of 500 copies! Radikalkur exists since 1996 and were formed by some classmates. Their first demo "Willkommen In Österreich" was released in 1997 and they're playing powerful Deutsch-Punk at that time, pretty much mid-tempo with nice melodies and clear lyrics, the way 18-years buddys see their ooh-so-evil world. Their 2nd demo "Irgendwann Sicher" came out in 1998 (more political aggressive lyrics). Three of those four songs were used for the split EP with E.M.S. (Ego Means Survival). This was their first step out of the rehearsing room into the D.I.Y. world and they're still active. E.M.S. exists from 1993 - 2002, originally a high school band that played melodic punk rock and covers and under the name "Eat My Shorts" they released two tapes. They changed their initials 1998 in "Ego Means Survival" and their style and music got much harder and they released this split EP with Radikalkur (Vienna). With anarchic lyrics, their D.I.Y. operation and musical idiosyncrasies get well known in the anarcho-punk scene and Autonomous/Gegenkultur movement in Austria & Germany. The german lyrics sometimes let you think of punk-rock as well, but the music is plainly more like melodic-hardcore-punk. E.M.S. quite often playing in front of people who weren’t in any scene at all. And so they reached totally another audience than most of the punk-/hardcore-bands did, which played in front of the same crowd all the time. Overall, they played more than 100 concerts, especially in squats and autonomous centers in Austria & Germany and the neighboring countries. In 2002, the band broke up.

NISSES NÖTTER - Hammerhill Holocaust '83-'85

I'm ready for KARIES and FRONT in Wiesbaden and I'm in a hurry so a quick post and a yummy Hardcore Attack. This band had no official release and I wonder why because they're damn good. Nisses Nötter was a punkband from the suburb Hammarkullen in Gothenburg. Hansi Baumgartner (guitar), Nico Bergling (vocals), Tommie Liekola (bass) and Hans Wilholm (drums) started to play together in 1983. They made a cassette for Äggtapes called "Knäckta Nötter" in 1984. They made lots of gigs in Gothenburg and became famous mostly for their young age =11-12 year old punkrockers! And their gang: HK-Punks. Paul Vahala replaced Tommie as bass player in 1985. A few gigs were made and then the band went seperate ways. Nisses Nötter became The Nuts in 1986. In 2006 Nisses Nötter were regenerated, new songs were made and the band is out for gigs. Maybe their first record will come out, who knows. In 2008 the American label Farmhouse records released this superb compilation with all their recordings, some live stuff. A brilliant documentation plus a great artwork with lots of pictures, all lyrics and a short biography. "Punx not dead, we're only a bit older." All is said, haut rein boys!

LEATHERFACE & JAWBOX - Your Choice Live Series 1994

The "Your Choice Live Series", every gourmet knows about these great live recordings and all releases are recorded in a high brilliant quality. Since 1988 this serie is alive and a lot of cool records were released. On this piece of orange vinyl we have two bands I would not use more words to describe them, Leatherface are known to everyone and I think Jawbox as well. Nothin' more to say, except I like the A-side more because Sunderland's punkrocker are one of my favourites and all albums are milestones. Marylands Jawbox isn't bad but the music's not mine. This record was released with two inserts, a further point for the label. And now: enjoy the record and this sweeping live sound.

RAMONES - @ The Palladium, NYC 7.1.1978

"Hey Ho Let's Go" - Yes, you know what comes... Yeah, the Ramones and I must tell you not much. In the World Wide Web there is sufficient information available. Like the Sex Pistols, the Ramones stands for punkrock of the first hour. Every punk has their records in the shelf, of course even me. Unlike the British with their snotty anarchic style the Ramones playing short, melodic, snotty 1-2-3-4 hymns and influenced a lot of bands. They were also different from the outfit; leather jackets, worn jeans, sneakers and long hairstyles (like the Beatles), almost in uni-look, the Ramones outfit was born. For me in addition to the Dead Kennedys the best band from the U.S. - This bootleg was recorded at the Palladium in New York City on January 7, 1978 in an amazing sound quality. Tommy Ramone is the drummer on this recording. He left the band soon afterwards, although he continued to work with them as a producer and manager, this is his last album as drummer. Hard to believe that all members are dead. I will listen to the Ramones till my death because this feelin' is etched in me. Have fun with this sound and "Gabba Gabba Hey" my true followers.

NORMAHL - Der Adler Ist Gelandet 1984

I think this record was a request by a visitor from the babbelstub and I'm chaotic and forget a lot but here I am sure. This is the third 12'' by Normahl, founded 1978 in Winnenden, near Stuttgart. Released via Mülleimer Records and as a cool bonus were the songs from the rare Stuttgart Über Alles EP packed, eine tolle Sache. The band had unfortunately never the reputation like the other German bands on AGR or Weird System although they wrote brilliant music with offensive lyrics (especially on this album). They were put into the fun-punk drawer and so they had this stigma on their throats. Sure, many songs go in this direction but I think Normahl have recognized the signs of the time and they want fun and brought clear their attitude and political statement over and take no leaf before the mouth. Well, this record is one of their best and was even released in red vinyl. A German classic!

COBRA - Indie Omnibus 82-86 [1991]

A trip into the land of the rising sun and let's meet Cobra, a Japanese punk/Oi! band from Osaka and they were one of the first bands in Japan to incorporate the style of Oi! in their sound and since 1982 they are more or less active. A lot of records are released and the band is still alive. Of course it's not easy to get their records in Europe so this rip is not mine and I can't say how many copies were pressed from this CD but it's a nice compilation of their early recordings and when the music is not so stressful as much of the Pacific Island then I like that. Fourteen melodic punk lullabys in this file, mostly from their 7Inches and other sources (use the search option top left), gives you a decent impression from Yosu-Ko and his band. This picking was released 1991 via AA Records/Pony Canyon, grab it!

NO FUCK BÉBÉ - s/t LP 2012

Another lost nugget from France now finally available and No Fuck Bébé were formed 1979 in Montbeliard by René (vox+guitars), Lolo (bass) and Jimmy (drums) and they recorded all these goodies on this record in 1984 before they split up and Mémoire Neuve released this in an edition of 400 copies in 2012. Eleven solid rockin' punkies in the vein of the superb Dogs. Fine artwork but unfortunate everything in French, why remains unanswered. Anyway, sounds still fresh after thirty years, especially the instrumentals have a driving beat. A mind-blowing album.

RED LONDON - This Is England 1984

One still goes before I leave home and we travel over to the British Isles and meet Red London, a four piece Oi! Punk combo from Sunderland, formed in 1981 by guitarist Kid and his brother Gaz on bass, vocalist Patty and drummer Raish and after the debut 7inch in 1983 they released their first album on Razor Records and they recorded thirteen excellent streetpunk songs with tempo and fine ballads and I must say this record fascinate me instantly because I love the English Oi! sound. Very melodic and dirty snotty guitars combined with the quiet pieces, simply fantastic and a singer who has a brilliant voice, Yeah!, lovely. You can get more Info via an Interview from the end of the century on PunkOiUK and in 2002 the band unfortunately disbanded. Yo, that's it for today. I must now make myself pretty and fresh for my pearl - Have a great weekend!!

- Great Thx to Fredrik -

V/A - Hardcore Power Music Part 2 1984

A rainy Saturday here and I am fit again after this hard week and as announced now the second Part Ultra Hardcore Power, whereby hardcore is slightly exaggerated. Ten bands, fifteen songs and an absolute increase to Volume 1. This compilation is packed with 85% unpublished stuff and convinced with many renowned German bands and in my opinion one of the most important D-Punk records, again via Mülleimer released, comes with a small Insert and partly in colored vinyl. V/A - Ultra Hardcore Power 1983

I know this is not the Hardcore Vol 1 sampler that was required (I'll post it soon) but this one is just as essential. It's the first compilation from Mülleimer Records, the third most important German label in my opinion and have released in six years a few cool german punk records which are nowadays very sought and you can find a few of course on wdthtc. On this platte five bands, Normahl had at that time two records out, their legendary Stuttgart Über Alles EP and their first album Verarschung Total, Chaos Z with four cuts which are already sound dark and personel and already have the later Fliehende Stürme touch, all exclusive. In Stuttgart at home german Oi! combo Herbärds with their first vinyl outputs, two decent streetpunk numbers with funny lyrics. In 1984 the band released their debut album and they're somehow still active. Then Inferno from Augsburg and their classic hardcore tunes which made them interesting for the American punkers and their first album Tod & Wahnsinn is a blast (comin' soon) and last but not least Bluttat from Mülheim who unfortunately did not make the breakthrough, although they had three first-class brilliant hardcore albums with aggressive lyrics and they have been honored by Colturschock Records with a compilation called "Raw And Pure 1981-1984" (1000 copies) with old & rare goodies and I can recommend this record because it's fuckin' great. For a first label compilation not bad, everything sounds very raw and genuine and a year later Part 2 came out with more German underground noises, a better production and with bands which are not under contract upon Mülleimer and on the record are 100% exclusive tracks and it comes also in 192k/Bit in less than eight days. Cheers! and enjoy this early D-Punk classic.

1.Wein, Weiber & Gesang - NORMAHL
2.Alltagsshow - NORMAHL
3.Auf Der Mauer - NORMAHL
4.I'm Feeling Down - BLUTTAT
5.Ohne Mich - BLUTTAT
6.Slips & Mieder - HERBÄRDS
7.Schweinebauch - HERBÄRDS
8.Immer Noch Keine Antwort - CHAOS Z
9.Einsam - CHAOS Z
10.Qual Der Erinnerung - CHAOS Z
11.Verflucht - CHAOS Z
12.Wir Sind Schon Tot - INFERNO
13.Administration - INFERNO
14.Ronald Reagan - INFERNO
15.Nationalgefühl - INFERNO
16.Krieg Dem Krieg - BLUTTAT
17.Kohl Ist Gewählt - BLUTTAT
18.Computer - NORMAHL
19.Müslibrei - NORMAHL
20.Paragraphen - NORMAHL

THE CONSUMERS - All My Friends Are Dead 1995

Yeah, this is a real Killer and kbd maniacs have heard of the Consumers and have this record and they were the first punk rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, but their members quickly relocated to Los Angeles, and became involved with the then-burgeoning L.A. punk scene. It is so much info in the net about this record so I give you this one:

Much of what is passed off as "punk rock" these days is pathetic and limp - no secret there. The Consumers were the real deal antithesis of pathos and limpness. Formed in early 1977, The Consumers were probably one of the very first in Phoenix, Arizona, to play punk rock. Influenced by punk scenes in England and New York, The Consumers cooked up a sound that was fast and hate-fueled. You will not find lyrics like "I'm going to find a way to drive you mad like piss on you or fuck your dad" on a Pennywise album, no sir. The Consumers recorded their one and only album in a small Phoenix studio in December of 1977 - eleven scorching tracks delivered in nineteen minutes, all loaded with anger and pure nihilism - and immediately moved to Los Angeles. Once in L.A., the band hit the live circuit, playing clubs like the Masque and the Whiskey A Go Go. Their sets were often violent; in an incident documented by Slash magazine, the entire band once beat vocalist David Wiley bloody onstage for no good reason! It didn't take long for them to be banned from clubs all over town. Legendary punk record label Dangerhouse agreed to release their album, but within a few short months, the label folded and the band imploded. Eventually the band members went on to other things: guitarist Paul Cutler formed 45 Grave and later joined Dream Syndicate, vocalist Wiley formed the Human Hands and the rest went on to lives of drugs, the military or dead end jobs. Presently, only two members of the band are still living.

The Consumers album remained unreleased until 1995 when The Red Records issued it as a limited-edition LP which sold out quickly. Now, for the first time it is being issued on CD, newly re-mastered and sounding louder and nastier than ever. This is real punk rock - the kind FM radio is too chickenshit to deal with and video network lunkheads are paid handsomely to ignore. Shocking early works by psychos who would go on to 45 Grave, Dream Syndicate, and Human Hands Loud and nasty punk rock from 1977 for the first time on vinyl, initial limited pressing of the vinyl sold out immediately.

I can only underline all this words and this record is an absolute hammer and an important release when we talk about early american punk. Let's fuck your brain, play air guitar like a damn idiot and look for a girl and have everything with her while listen to this great unique awesome music!

SACRE BLEU - Broken Promises 7'' 1979

Well, this band from Dublin is a typical Pub Rock band and they have two 7Inches released on Polydor and Sacre Bleu were formed 1978 by Anthony (vox), Pat (bass), Frankie (keys), Dick (guitars) and Albert (drums) and you should visit the glorious Irish Rock site for more info. In this file you find both records and if you want get the rare Just For Kicks compilation for more interesting sound from the green isle. Too bad that's so little of this land is available - I think I'll have something more tonight.....maybe.. stay tuned!

TUNNELANGST - 180 BPM [Tape] 1997

Here's a fine tape from Herborn's Tunnelangst (which means "Fear Of Tunnels") and I remember them very well because the manager is a good friend of mine and singer Heini is a real charmin' man, this also applies to the whole band. I organized a gig together with Serene Fall in September 1998 and this evening's still remembered to this day. Sorry for delete the live recordings, always annoys me when I think back. Tunnelangst play punk in the classic british style of the early 80's, leather jackets, lots of alcohol, iros, and songs against all the wrongs of the world. Oh yeah, their scary looking singer (Heini had a iro as big as the fair tower) is also the model for the "Knuddelpunk 2" picture record. They were present on both "Sieger Sehen Anders Aus" compilations and in 1997 they released their full length CD on United Kids Records called "Gepflegte Szene" with fifteen heart attacks. Shortly after the band broke up due to musical differences, a few members founded the Rotten Bastards (Hardcore pur!) to put their musical outpourings into your bloody ears. This tape here contains both demos which they recorded 1996 or 1997 and has eight offensive punk trashers in German/English. Haut Rein!

Well, I still have one tonight and its the fifth volume of the classic Back To Front compilation on Incognito Records with rare and obscure punkrock worldwide and the vinyl version is again limited to 1000 copies. Was in principle already in sleep mode but it came surprisingly visit from a very good friend of mine and you know what that means. Fuck Off tomorrow, no matter that I have to sit at 6:00 on my bike so I shit fat on it, you only live once and the night I will enjoy. The whole ass-kisser doesn't live and I hope your none of those... The Gin tastes good, the music makes me breathe and the full moon salutes! Let's punk my friends :)

ÖVERSLAG - Varför Får Man Inte Va' Annorlunda 7'' 1980

This is a fine Hardrock 7inch from Överslag, only record when I'm right and also here null info about the band. Both songs have a really good dirty guitar and come across in a moderate mid-tempo sound. The flip side for me the winner because the tempo is more tightened and a classic 'Ho Ho Ho' singalong makes me singin' out loud, a solid solo in the middle...what more can I expected? Yep, I like this record, released on Noon Records, damn rare and if you find a copy don't hesitate. That's all for today, tomorrow is another.

LA UVI - Ya Está Bien EP 1982

Debut record by La Uvi, a four piece from Madrid, on Spansuls Records. Nothing new in Blogland but I've just arrived and got this band in my head during the train ride and it gets not out, surely you know what I mean. So reason enough to bring the boys back. Excellent kbd stuff and they are represented on numerous compilations, some also in the blog, search on the top left. The sun shines and I leave home briefly.

SERENE FALL - Demoband 1995

Starting to rip a few tapes last week and the beginning makes Serene Fall from Mönchengladbach with their demo tape from 1995. Seven melancholy punk songs we have here, partly unpublished and with "Just Friends" is one of their greatest songs on it. I remember, I get the tape after a gig in Gladbach and while driving home to Frankfurt it ran constantly (a miracle that it even still runs today). The band started as a four piece band as Mine, Ether Command in the late 80's, changed their name into My Eden Dies and it ends up as Serene Fall. To date, they have three albums and two singles out and after a long pause they shrunk to three. On the tape you can hear how important a second guitar is and for me is their sound much better as today. They had not found any useful musician, and so they go to third. Serene Fall is at home in punk with a strong dark touch and funny songs are different you know, very personally lyrics and Maul's remarkable voice is the best for this kind of music. - Enough babble, enjoy grandiose music from a small band and have a nice weekend!!!!

V/A - Bloodstains Across Canada 2015

I don't know why I always reading, that this compilation has a shit sound and then I wonder, what did you expect, asshole? Be thankful that after many many years a new Bloodstains record is out and again full with damn rarities and awesome artwork to that. You see, there are idiots everywhere who are not satisfied with anything. Fuck them, I think this record is overdue and besides the ingenious Killed By Death #26 and a few more compilations, this is a well-kept overview, besides the well-known bands, what was alive in the second largest state on earth.
Eighteen catchy rare bollox on this record, pressed in red vinyl and limited to 666 copies, includes an insert with liner notes. What more do you want? I hope there will always be people who make these rare pearls accessible to us, you are the best!

WIPERS - Complete Rarities 1979 - 1990

A must for this day are the Wipers, music for eternity in my opinion and We always had a good time with them. A bit info to this: Misunderstood, mistreated, underrated, and/or just plain unknown, Greg Sage should be mentioned in the first breaths about trailblazing guitarists and U.S. independent music of the '80s and '90s. Since forming his band, Wipers, in Portland/OR, in the late '70s Sage has been put through the ringer more than enough to justify his hermetic operating methods and attitude. This set just contains all the song material which was either not published regularly, outtakes, different versions, live recordings and three acoustic pearls. All done by myself and a worthy completion of this great music, b.t.w. I spent too much time ripping my vinyl. Now enjoy this unique and superb music and have a drink with me!

DIE PILSKÖPFE - Tausend Tolle Tage EP 1989

Today is a special day and my true follower know what I mean. So this Thursday starts with lots of rain and then at 10:00 a dentist appointment, I did it fast, had still something to do but this must wait and I'm back home and rip one more record and I am in my heart with my pearl. So this record is the only one by the Pilsköpfe, funny name but it's no funpunk, released via Intelrecords and two cuts were used for the great 1990 compilation Neues Deutschland and the title song is a beautiful love song which is about a lost relationship, describes the situation in which one is stuck and lettin' go is always hard but important. The other ones are no less bad, a solid record.

V/A - Songs From Pigland 1981

Faster back than expected and the following post was a request by Marcus and this compilation was released via Bull's Hit Records in a limited edition of 1000 copies and came with a cool handmade cover. Honestly, I do not know any of the bands and the musical range goes more into a New Wave, Alternative and a few experimental vibes, also punk goodies are there and my ears come 100% again. Don't get me wrong, this is an interesting mixture of songs and not a bad record at all. Listen to it with a well-tempered beer.

2.Super Heroes - THE MODEL
3.Action Man - THE PADLOCKS
4.Drugs Kill - THE RAYZORS
5.Yaketty Yak - JON PERKINS with KAZ

7.Ambiguous Ambition - THE CUCUMBERS

DOGS - Different 1979

Shortly out of bed and welcome to the debut album of the French band Dogs from Rouen which are already represented several times on wdthtc. Thirteen decent punkrockies in the usual dog quality, played by: Dominique (vox+guitars), Hugues (bass) and Michel (drums). For more info click on their '84 7Inch Mon Coeur Bat Encore and you will find the guys become not tired, on the contrary, they recorded more than ten albums, not bad. After Dominique's death in 2002 it became quiet around the band. Well, I hope the noises shooting you off, I go back to bed and die a little.

MANIACS & TIN CAN ARMY - Split 1983

I want to present you another hot record, this time a split album of two German combos, released on Mülleimer Records, another important label from Germany, which has not published any shit in my opinion and the first one comes in blue vinyl and is nowadays very sought and if anyone has a nice copy with both inserts drop me a mail. OK, on the a-side the Maniacs from Rotenburg an der Fulda set the level already high with their english-hardcore style, founded 1982 by Peter (vox+bass), Peter (guitars) and Kai-Uwe (drums) and they released two singles + albums and two members are unfortunately already deceased. The lyrics took up classical political themes and against right-wing extremism and established society. In 1991 the band split up. Tin Can Army, abbreviated as TCA, was a hardcore punk band from Göttingen, which existed from 1982 to 1987. They released one 7Inch, one album and many songs on various compilations, some you can find on wdthtc. Especially the demo recordings are now regarded as cult. In contrast to the recordings published on records, these recordings are much harder and better recorded. The Ox-Fanzine called the band as "best German intelligent Punkrockunderground, which is after twenty years later still gripping." All Right, join the hardcore sound and have a wild Tuesday
