V/A - Are We Too Late For The Trend... 1979

And the answer of course is: YES! This record was a long fuckin' time on my Wantedlist and I thought to buy the platte but the horror prices which a few require are outrageous. I like to spend some money for music but I have limits you know. I guess you go there as well. - This rare compilation on ESR Records features Texas bands and is a fine collection of varied styles and gives a shiny impression what's going on in this era. Are some sagging tunes there but all in all a good record. So folks, that was a long fuckin' day and now I turn into a broccoli and lay myself down and look forward to the extra long weekend.

1.My Face Is On Your Lunch Box - VOMIT PIGS
2.Siamese Love - PLASTIC IDOLS
3.Solid Ground - THE TELEFONES
4.Giant Girl In The 5th Grade - THE INFANTS

V/A - Breaking The Silence EP 1987

Let's fade out September with two more compilations and first this nice 7Inch with four bands, released by German label Artcore, 1000 copies in yellow vinyl. Homo Picnic from Philadelphia with two rough goodies and a cool start, next Kazjurol from Söderbörke with an excellent Hardcore goal. Side b kicks off with Quod Massacre from Belgrade and this goodie is my personal winner, melodic guitar meets mid-tempo punk, they released an awsome tape in 1986 called Fait Accomply 83-86 and last but not least the Instigators from Dewsbury with a live track which was recorded in Berlin, more words are superfluous. Solid picking!

1.We Need More - HOMO PICNIC
2.Part Of The Race - HOMO PICNIC
3.The Human Force - KAZJUROL
4.Q.M. - QUOD MASSACRE
5.Not Free (Live) - INSTIGATORS

THE STAR CLUB - Toll Gate Ahead 10'' 1980

On this morning I'm glad to give you one more from the Wanted-List and let's move to the east and visit Nagoya where in 1977 the Star Club were founded. The first output was a live tape in 1979 and after another demo the band released their first record, the Toll Gate Ahead 10'' on ELL Record and its an extremely rare piece of vinyl and almost unseen outside of Japan. All six songs are fuckin' cool and what should I write more? A detailed biography on all records there on the orange letters above. At these recordings involved: Hikage (vox), Rhyo (guitars), Eddy (bass) and Bukka (drums). Get it!

ROLAND'S GOSSKÖR - Pigs Part One EP 1983 + Genom Barriären EP 1984

Roland's Gosskör are a punk band from Åkersberga which founded in 1978. First they playing their first concert at Bergaskolans Uppehållsrum in 1978 under the name Fast Kids. They were class mates Conny Melkersson, Curt Sandgren, Johan Lindström and Magnus Lange. Magnus departed quite early when the musical direction of every little sketch and too much punk. Ola Olsveten came in and the name was changed to Roland's Gosskör. In Winter 1979 they recorded the first demo and it became a worldwide success in the circle of friends. 1980, drummer Olis could not or did not want to play anymore, so during a concert in front of 500 raggare hazardous they recruited their new drummer Patrik Trankell. 1982 the 2nd demo was recorded. The Exploited played this year in Stockholm, but they never showed up so the band was honored to enter the stage instead, the audience consisted of fifty skinheads. After a few minutes of scratching in the barn so the concert started and Roland had a new bassist, Åke. In 1983 the first EP 'Pigs Part One' came out and they had ten hours studio time at night to an "unbelievable price". The EP was pressed in 480 copies but no one wanted to buy it and in the end they stayed minus. So the band come in contact with Janne Dahlbom from Rosa Hornung and he had heard Roland's second demo. He works on the compilation Vägra För Helvete and he puts 'Gossen Franco & Maktbegär' on this record. So at the time a radio show called 'Lilla Bommen' rewievs the comp. and the voice says: 'It sounds as if all the bands are recorded through a telephone, except Roland's Gosskör.' So they were very excited and sent a copy of the first EP to Lilla Bommen and the song 'FBU' was elected as the most played song in the show in 1984. So the train started to roll with more gigs and new songs. 1984 the second EP was released on Studio Otukt Records with three classic '77 style punk smashers. Patrik went to Florida and they're playing now as a trio. The result is a song on the live compilation Birkagården Gärdet. Roland's Gosskör continued to play a whole lot out there. 1986, they went into the studio again to record their third single 'Långt Härifrån', unfortunately, there was no money to continue and so the record never came out. Around 1988 they envolved into NEIN and play together with Coca Carola a gig in Ultrahuset, it was the night the house burned down.

A limited cassette (Långt Härifrån) was produced and given to all who had been involved in the 'Sista Dansen' project. The cassette was a full set from the concert. 1990, the label Studio Otukt released the live split LP Sista Dansen (with Asta Kask) and it can not measure up to the inferno that the three concerts were for those who were there, but the LP proofs that it happened. 1992 saw a re-issue of the second EP on Beat Butchers and the band had a short reunion to play on their 10 year anniversary. Roland's Gosskör leave us with two amazing crazy records and have a permanent place when we talk about early Swedish punk rock.

FERRUM - Shoot Me 7'' 1979

Well, this rare piece of 70s Austrian rock'n'roll is the bands only release on Atlanta and on the cover these three men look very happy as if they had smoked a good pipe. Necessary they have certainly not because their music is a straight energetic sound with a short number on the a-side and a three minute track on the flip. Fuzzy guitars consistently, decent tempo and astreine production, I was really surprised when I listen to this single, a real rare Austrian underground nugget. Bandinfo = nothing.

THE SCABS - There's Nothing Wrong 7'' 1981

I thought So Called Friends is Scabs' best song but they can make it better with their second 7Inch, again on Refused Records. The title track is a driving number wherein the bass dominates the rhythm and the rest fits to, it's like a drug as in some cultures where people singing oneself into a frenzy you know. At 3:30 in the morning certainly a difficult challenge and holidays are not in. The flip is a bit weak and is in my opinion too poppy and uninspired... and now a big cup of coffee.

WATABOUT - Snutstat EP 1979

Right now this morning and I'm damn tired and continue with this little platte. I listen to this rare piece hard edged swedish kbd punk debut by this Stockholm group which was released by the small label Bröderna Surf and this is a must have. Only record I think, they exist from 1978 - 1980, played a few gigs and then disappear. They are represented on numerous compilatons (check discogs) and that's all info. Superb record which is issued in a small edition. That's it for now. Next, a shower.

CRETINS - Live @ The Set-A-Lite 7'' 1987

The Cretins from Hanover are a German punk which I like a lot. Founded 1979 by M.O.F. Remmington (vox), Tier (drums), Trans Barbie (bass) and Hoss (guitars) and a few play also in Blut+Eisen. Their debut 7inch came out 1980 on No Fun Records and is a damn cool record with three killer tracks, Heimkind is one of my favourite Cretins songs. No wonder this cracker was re-released in 2005 with three live cuts (No Fun Festival 1980) on the b-side. After the release of the Keine Experimente II (a must have and coming soon!) compilation on Weird System the label put out a 10Inch called Man Between Walls in a limited edition of 1000 copies in 1985 and the bands sound goes more into a guitar rock direction but this not affects the punk factor. The last release is under the bandname is rare 7inch on Saturn Records and these two songs were recorded live January 1987 in Berlin @ the Quartier Latin through the Set-A-Lite concert and there exist also a video from this gig but I never see this elsewhere. Well, I will post soon their 10Inch and the Cretins changed then into Fun Fun Crisis and released a Mini-Album which is also great, Cheers, Donut! Well, the bands sound is really cool and I can't them throw away from my turntable. Enjoy this little rocket, the last for today, I leave home and ride to the stadium against Hertha BSC, for more three points!

EXIT CONDITION - Bite Down Hard EP 1988

From the West Midlands town of Stoke On Trent, Exit Condition (1988-1994) were part of the mid 80’s UK melodic punk/hardcore scene in vein of Snuff, Leatherface, etc... This six song record marks their vinyl debut and the band play a straight decent lively hardcore beat with a thundering guitar sound reminicent of British punk at the time it first began competing with the US in the speed trials. Credit for this excellent fusin of style certainly must go to the bands producer, former Discharge and Broken Bones guitarist Bones. Finished off nicely with the cool artwork by Squeal and Pushead this makes for a pretty nifty entrance, highly recommended. One more 7Inch can be listen at 8th Sin.

GLI INCESTI - Punk Rock 7'' 1977

Early Italian Punk from Gli Incesti and this is the band's first record on CLS with two rockin' songs. One of the first groups to approach the new British sound was the Milanese duo of Gli Incesti, formed by brothers Leo (who died ten years ago) and Antonella. They released one album called Ecco in 1978 and that's it. Enjoy this blast from the past and have a nice weekend!

DE STRAKS - Groeten Uit De Vrije Wereld EP 1982

With this record they changed their bandname to V.H. De Straks (formerly DE STRAKS) because of troubles with an anarchist newspaper with the same name. But not only their bandname changed, on their first record they played really raw punk with lyrics against the Dutch queen but on this record they play really melodic and poppy punk with lyrics about how the politicians do everything for their own interest which is nothing new. As a small bonus I pack the Vrij Onverteerd EP within.

You need more info so click to geocities where you find an interview with lead vocalist Bobby Strggle. Read while listening to the mucke.

THE FREEZE - @ The AU, Frankfurt 31.07.2009

Here is short concert video from The Freeze, which I filmed seven years ago @ the AU in Frankfurt, the old but very lively men came again over the big ocean after a long time of abstinence to Germany and start a little tour in 2009.

All I can say to you is that: it is absolutely worth to visit a Freeze gig! about sixty minutes of pure energy & fun. I'm not the greatest reviewer so I try to film a little with my camera (if i'm not drunk, haha) and put this evening in images (not always successful). Here I remember a lot of Pogodancing and it was incredible difficult. But I'm not just there for filming, right? So I think the pic speaks for itself, so enjoy this five song video in twelve minutes and the quality is largely goodB.t.w., Dr. Drunk post their awesome live album Five Way Fury from their 1991 tour, I think through the US, with massive hits. If you love the Cape Cod sound you should get this. They're still alive and that's just as well!

OHL - s/t EP 1981

Shitty coldy weather here, it seems as if it's raining now. So let's go on and fill the blog with more rarities. Here is the first OHL record which was released on the now scum Rock-O-Rama label and you could praise this as a crazy German-punk classic, a bit mushy and with calm guitars but melodious songs (the back cover says "Take" recordings, hmmm..). Three unpolished and rough lovesongs from Deutscher W & Co. and they show how brute the early years of OHL were before they went into a more darker sound (listen to their Jenseits Von Gut & Böse album for example). Nevertheless, the hatred in the voice of the singer Deutscher W (W stands for resistance or wealth?) is fuckin' impressive and the style is consistently continued on the following albums. Not everyone's cup of tea I think, but for me are OHL as well one of the important bands of German punkrock and their stuff is still worth listening to, perhaps out of date but zappy.

- Huge Thx to Reinhard -

TROTS - Långa Näsor EP 1982

Back to 7Inch modus and we stay in Sweden and move to Stockholm and meet Trots: Stefan (vox), Per (guitars), Johan (drums) and Thomas (bass), and listen to their last EP which came out via Sista Bussen and this file slumbers for one year unheard on my hard drive. This is nothing new because I have so much music here and I don't know if I can hear all this cool stuff in my time that I have left. Life takes precedence but I'm trying. Well, Trots play a brilliant mix of punk with 60s rock'n'roll spirit and Mr.Chuck Berry send greetings (particularly in song #2, great guitars). Nice little record in my opinion.

DISTORSIÓN - ¡Ké Buen Dios! 1988

One more good record at Discos Suicidas is the debut from Distorsión, a band that sowed the black seed of the Iberian punk in the 90s with angry, ironic, sardonic and irreverent lyrics and the attitude to show up to the big bands of the era, made to become a legend. They come from the Basque Country and made three albums and a few compilation goodies, in the mid 90s they broke up. But in 2009 they returned with great energy, led again by Josu, keeping the line and being faithful to their musical and life style, built, as always, based on illusion, effort and perseverance. At the end of 2012 they put out a new album (20 T- Mazos), where they made a careful selection of the best tracks from their previous work so that listeners could have them in digital format and with the current good sound. So far so good, let the music in.

DEZERTER - s/t EP 1993

Dezerter, founded as SS-20 in 1981 in Warsaw, is one of the most popular punk bands from Poland. They had to change their original name to Dezerter because of the reaction of the Communist authorities. Besides a band had very controversial lyrics and being constantly attacked by state censorship they made a choice to change a name without change anything else. To become less recognizable by regime they often changed name at posters, sometimes written as "De-zerter", sometimes as "The Zerter" - it was cheap and efficient trick to cheat an opponent. Dezerter debuted during the Mokotow Music Autumn Festival, in November 1981. In 1983 Dezerter recorded a four-song EP, Ku Przyszlosci (Into The Future) also known as Spytaj Milicjanta (Ask (a question to) a cop). The record was issued by the state label Tonpress and it was very warmly welcomed by fans, with 50,000 copies sold. With fast guitar riffs and intelligent lyrics written by Grabowski, Dezerter's concerts have drawn thousands of fans and their LPs are very popular, especially in the late '80s and early '90s.

PROBLEM CHILDREN - On The Air EP 1988

Let's talk about Canadian punk and I have unfortunately not very much of it, shame on me but this 7Inch by Problem Children, a punk band from Dunnville/Ontario and the record was released on Problem Children Wrekords with green and yellow sleeves. Formed in 1982 by Jamie Stowe (guitar & vocals), Paul Kelly (guitar), Barney Rebel (bass) and Bill Culp (durms) and they gladdened the punk world with three albums and this one. Five mid-tempo goodies with energy and potential. I'm sure you want more info so click over to Raised On Canadian Radio and ye shall find. I hit myself in bed and watch Euro-League, I'm soooo fuckin' tired. Good Night!

VOMIT VISIONS - Punks Are The Old Farts Of Today EP 1980

Sorry for the delay but I was looking a bloody long time for this shit but here it is, the first Rock-O-Rama release: the Vomit Visions EP. "Very good punk of the Vomit Visions of Germany: ultra-fast, ultra hard, absolute rubbish music, of which there are now really too little." (Sounds 1/1982). To me just only cult! Because they come from my hometown, so it's my damn must to post this on wdthtc. Four excellent low-fi smasher and the best German punk record ever, I still have one more 7inch which I post sometime.

SHOTGUN SOLUTION - Shotgun EP 1983

Nice little 7Inch by this band from Rome with four wild & angry shotguns, released via High Rise and this record is all they made on vinyl. Singer Valter is in my opinion a 'softer' type of Raw Power's Mauro but don't worry, hier wird ordentlich aufgedreht. Shotgun Solution opened for the Dead Kennedys in their show in Rome in 1982 and were Valter (vox), Stefano (guitar), Alberto (drums) and Pierpaolo (bass). RaveUp Records released in 2016 a repro (350 copies) called "1983" with one unreleased track. That's it, I'm tired again and in four hours the night's over.

BAD NEWS - 333 x Up & Down EP 1995

One more record from the legendary 333 x Up & Down series, 333 copies and today hard to get. So Bad News is very unknown and probably their only release and I think they're from Wesel. It's amazing how many such pretty pearls like this dug out again of dusty cellars and step into the light of the whole wide punk world and become a real true gem. This little four track piece is indeed a Killer and has a knotless '77 punk rock sound, catchy, dirty, short, aggressive and if a record starts with "Kiss My Ass" you know in which way it goes. All songs sung in English and you only know what's best for you. Too bad I have so little info about this band and I would be interested to see if there are any more releases. Well, I only advise you to grab this awesome groupie quickly, play it loud and enjoy their music. TIP!

THE YOUNG LORDS - Young Lords EP 1980

Out in the town of Halden right on the Norwegian/Swedish border in the late seventies, the band was named The Ice Cream Band (name inspired by a Jonathan Richman song) successfully opened up for hero Elvis Costello in Oslo in 1978, before drop this name for The Young Lords. By the time the band came around to releasing their debut album (Same Shit - New Wrapping) in 1980. Henning's songs and the band's musical qualities put them way ahead of the Norwegian punk/new wave music scene at the time. The Young Lords actually sold records and toured. By 1981 the road hardened quartet had expanded to a quintet, changed their name to Saturday Cowboys, left their record company for Norway's first independent , New Noise (partially owned by Henning) and recorded the album We Like To Watch with Norwegian renegade punks Casino Steel and Geir Waade as producers. Steel and Waade had just arrived back in Norway after spending formative years as card carrying members of the London punk explosion. Between them they had played with London SS (early Clash), The Hollywood Brats, The Boys and Wreckless Eric's band (source: The ModPopPunk Archives). Four songs = great record!!

THE PARANOIDS - Stupid Guy 7'' 1979

Further with some power/pop/punk which fits wonderfully on this sunny day. These guys are from the U.K. and this single (btw cool cover) is released by Strand, an indie offshoot from major teldec I guess. This is a promo copy with label sheets on the back cover. I give you the chance to decide which continent plays the better, europe or america. Also two gems that are worth hearing (and I'm a stupid guy as well). They released two more 7Inches and then the fun was over.

12°5 - J'ai Envie 7'' 1980

Yesterday sunny, today sunny and tomorrow too and later Bundesliga. Time for sunny music with this excellent French group with female voice here with a promo single on Ballon Noir, the two cuts were taken from their debut record, simply called 12°5. Two years later they released their second album "Entre-Temps" on CBS Records and they changed their style and become uninteresting. 12°5 is not really a punk band, they had a decent PowerPop sound and the a-side has a pretty "disco" funky atmosphere, schwippi-schwappi-doing-doing. The flip has cool wavy guitars and like a tsunami, the song increases, gets faster and ends in 75 BPM. If you like it and you want more I can possibly reloading their first album. Interesting band in each case.

SUPERSTOLK 2000 - Was Kostet Die Welt? EP 1997

So, einen für heute hab' ich noch und es ist mir eine besondere Ehre. It's time to honor a band that deserves my deepest respect. A brilliant, funny live band & with always a surprise in their baggage. From the beautiful city of Offenbach came these two gentlemen and with this EP they have set high standards in the international underground music world. Their delicious mix of HC/Electro/Wave/Punk/Beat/Pop/Rock made them famous in the Hesse area and their records are sold out after a few weeks. So even this blue piece of plastic came out in 1997 via the small punky label Knorz Records. And the guys did everything by themselves. Here you can read a detailed review, in German, by tvuzk and more infos about Superstolk 2000 and his other music projects. A cordial greeting to tvuzk and JR - I love you guys!!! By the way, 'Kleiner Schlumpf' is exclusive and only on this record. Get it quick!

ASB - Monsieur Rasoir 7'' 1981

Early in the morning, sleep is over and I come to this rare nugget, released by Blue Cedar and it's the debut record by Aero Sole Band with two decent numbers, very melodic with nice guitar playin' and French voice, really charming. I post their second 7Inch Never long time ago with more infos so it's worth to have a look. Monsieur Rasoir is a solid small piece of vinyl (and who is Mr.R?).

The 930th post belongs again to a superb selfmade compilation which I made in August but there wasn't enough time to post it before because my flight was very early and I was almost too late. Brings me always joy to sit then here and put the nuggets into one BlastKillerLullaby, also with the artwork. MO-DETTES - White Mice 7'' 1979

The Mo-Dettes (alternatively The Modettes) were an all-female punk band, formed in 1979. This first self-released 7'' contains their most well-known song "White Mice" and was recorded in the mid 1979 on Mode Records, with "Masochistic Opposite" on the b-side. The single was distributed by Rough Trade and spent five weeks at No.1 in the indie charts. And although the assumption is that they were a mod band, this is incorrect: some called them punk, others thought they were more pop-punk, while still others compared their music to that of early Raincoats or Slits. Well, for me these two cuts are simply pop-punk songs and I can always listen to them. Whip your feet, shake your body and listen to White Mice while during the download. The all-girl band disbanded in 1982 after just one album.

THE STAGGERS / SKEPTIC ELEPTIC - Split 12'' 2005

Today I'm comin' up with a split record and the follow up is an extreme rare copy (hand numbered to 500 copies) which was released Broken Heart Records. Let's start side a with the Incredible Staggers (formerly The Staggers) and they are an Austrian 60's-garage-trash-surf-rock & roll band from Graz. The band say about themselves: "The 2002 launched 60s garage punk and rock & roll band "The Staggers" from Graz/Vienna has both musically and visually quite prescribed the late 50s and early 60s, the sis freaks in tailor-made yarn and Chelsea boots are mainly related to one hit wonders various 'Back From The Grave' compilations or legends like Screamin Lord Sutch, but they are not free from surf influences. Alright you Nerds and Finks prepare for an onslaught of primitive beats, chainsaw guitars and the eerie farfisa sound. It's raw! It's frantic! It's horrifying! It's the Staggers!!!" And the band keeps its promises: you expect five terrific rock'n'roll surf numbers of the finest. The b-side is just as nice. Skeptic Eleptic from St. Pölten, founded in winter of 1999 by bassist Mots T. Sux, Thoms'n'Roll (drums), Tom Mohawk (guitars) and singer Sickboy Eleptic. The band describe their music simply as punk rock and they found in the early stages yet increasingly influences of hardcore and street punk, so in the meantime their music has developed into a mixture of punk/garage/surf/psychedelic/ trash/pop and rock'N'roll. The band insists that it will not be forced into a certain genre corner. In 2009 the band broke up. Both bands have numerous records out and if you like a decent rock'N'roll surf punk sound then get this ten blasts and Go Go Go!

THE CAUZE - Stockholms Bomb 7'' 1981

Holy Shit, these descriptions here are sometimes hurt my balls and read this anyone at all? - What shall I write about this band?? I don't know, never heard of them until now. Hmmm, what I know there is a song on the Killed By Death #99 compilation which is a tape but I never see this. Anyway, the Cauze is a total mystery to me, don't know where they from or any releases and this 7'' is I guess their only record. What's on it? Legitimate question, haha - two goodies of some sort of pop/punk/rock (mod) but not shitty you know. The songs have charm & the guitars cry out for toothpaste, both are sung in wonderful Swedish dialect and I like this a lot. I mean honestly, who make it with a song on a KBD sampler is a) rare and b) damn good, any doubts?

V/A - Effenaar EP 1982

Now an obscure record from the Wanted List is called Effenaar and we have four bands with seven not typical mid-tempo numbers, it's a bit of GRRR style and the first three are very experimental, somehow I know such sound only from our neighbors and partly reassured me this immensely. With Tubifex the single rides on and goes rough and energetic, Big Sigars is almost hardcore and the last two shine with female voice and goes stomping in, reminds a little of The Ex, not bad. Overall interesting fifteen minutes.

 1.Pos, Sleeuwen - RABBIT FUN
2.Two Lives, One Step - VOVO KAI
3.The Kariboe Twist - VOVO KAI
4.Symbols Of Hate - TUBIFEX
5.Big Sigars - TUBIFEX
6.Bury Them With Their Names - VIVA LA MUERTE
7.Trains - VIVA LA MUERTE

WARM GUNS - Instant Schlager 1980

Danish Pop/Rock band 1978-1983, based in Århus, the second largest city in Denmark. Though a quartet, no doubt the central figure of the band was Lars Muhl, the band's prime composer and vocalist and the structure loose as the band members played in other groups as well. The inspiration came from the British early new wave/punk sound like so many other European bands. Their debut album is a brilliant mix of punk/pop/wave & rock'N'roll goodies. The band had a modest national hit with "The Young Go First" in 1980, but never made it really big to a level matching Muhl's writing skills, that was very much inspired by the likes of Elvis Costello. The band had it's last major performance at the 1983 Roskilde Festival, a concert released as the bands 5th and final album. In 1984 the band broke up. In 1985 Lars Muhl released his first solo album. The other members of band went on to play with some of the major danish bands the following years.
