XUTOS & PONTAPÉS - Toca E Foge 7'' 1982

It's time to pay tribute to a band which makes records since 1981 and I steal all info from wiki because I'm a lazy sack but I just want to mention that this second single is an absolute Hammerteil, two beautiful melodic punky rock songs they recorded here in which the flip surpass the A-side a lot, as ingenious as my favourites UHF:

Xutos & Pontapés are a Portuguese rock band, which got together 1978 in Almadal, four years after the Carnation Revolution restored most freedoms to the country. They started off in the local punk scene and set the trend – singing rock tunes in Portuguese. After three decades of studio and live albums, Xutos & Pontapés continue to be considered Portugal's top rock band, still influencing new generations of Portuguese bands. In 2004, then Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio granted the band a state decoration for twenty-five years of career achievements in the music industry. On 26 September 2009, they played in Lisbon to a packed football stadium, Estádio Do Restelo, to commemorate their 30th anniversary. They played for three hours – each hour marking a decade of their steadily successful career. It was the first time seven screens were used on stage in Portugal. Current members are most of the original line up Tim (bass + vocals), João Cabeleira (guitars), Kalú (drums) and Gui (sax + vocals). Fans refer to the band as Xutos; and Xutos is pronounced 'shootoosh'. Both 'Xutos' and 'Pontapés' are words in reference to types of kicks, but with a twist because the first word when spelled "Chutos" is referred for kick on a ball or object, but here used as "'Xutos", slang for heroin injection, while 'Pontapés' for kicks mainly on people. Founding member and guitarist Zé Pedro died on 30.November 2017, aged 61 (R.I.P.) - One of the surviving bands of the Portuguese rock explosion of the 80s, Xutos & Pontapés have a history of more than twenty years.

I think their sound inspires and pleases you the way I do, Breakfast time.

V/A - Nasty Vinyl Sucks! EP 1994

This slab was a freebie in Plastic Bomb fanzine issue #8, Winter 94/95 and in co-operation with label Nasty Vinyl they released this nice record with old german classics & filled with current time stuff. Müllstation opens the musicbox with a heartfelt Merry Christmas everywhere what everyone learns in kindergarten, cool punk version. From Portland are Tattooed Corpse, here with a loud fat trash stomper, very good. Then one from my favourite Hanover band: Cretins and 'Walter' can be heard here and the best track on this little duttie, fine Geschrammel with great lyrics, Yeah!! Then La Cry from Hamburg with their melodic punk sound. They have shown on numerous albums what they can and punk from the Waterkant is still a good choice in my opinion. K.U.K. from Sweden celebrate a cool hardcore beast: loud, fast, coarse.. perfect. Then Beton Combo, everybody knows them, who not should search for their records, each a hit and finally Lost Lyrics from Kassel with a snotty 1:34 goodie. Overall, a respectable mix of old and new tracks and after ten minutes, press the repeat button.

1.Fröhliche Weihnacht Überall - MÜLLSTATION
2.Voodoo Hate Monster - TATTOOED CORPSE
3.Walter - CRETINS
4.No Sun Today - LA CRY
5.Ister - KURT URBAN KARLSSON
6.Fair Fick - BETON COMBO
7.Nasty Without Vinyl - LOST LYRICS

THE SIX GUNS - 7'' Collection 1989

And now a further post of 7inches, all released on Kaos & Skrål records, the Strebers own label. In detail: 'Silver Sex & Six Guns', 'Buenas Noches From Hell!' and 'Back From The Dead', all released in 1989. Info I found in the net so here we go: "Six Guns is Strebers when they started to sing in english instead of swedish and with Ztikkan as new bass player. They released three singles at the same time. The music sounded like Strebers but with a touch of western and heavy metal-influences instead of folkmusic. Bad english and other reasons made it necessary to change the name back to Strebers after only one and a half concert. A few years later when drummer Johnny (R.I.P) died in a tragic car accident they founded a new combo called Dia Psalma." Well, let me say the sound is a bit U.K. aligned like G.B.H etc... and a big throw is this not really - I know better stuff from Wasaland - but fresh ironed and polished. Decide for yourself on what hour you put the Six Guns in.

LA CAME AUX DAMÉLIAS - La 5e Roue Du Système 7'' 1978

On Oxygene were this damn machine gun released and the only cut by this band from Paris. Recorded 1978 and the sound is wild, rough and kicks a lot, the dust on my table vibrate and the mosquitos leave quickly the room. La Came Aux Daméllas were Alain (vocals), Patrick (guitars), Alain F (bass) and Roland (drums) and more info isn't available... regrettably. Maybe the band members joined other french bands, continued working as producers or all were heading for an economically healthy career. Howsoever, they left with their single an Explosion! of two ass-rockin' lullabies, probably pressed in a small edition. Even as guests on numerous compilations, 125 Grammes De 33 1/3 Tours or Rare Punque Francais '77-'83 (KBD #200), etc... puuhhh, I'm a bit tired. I think, I leave the stage and make a short nap.

GARAGE - En Movimiento EP 1982

Amazing first record by this four piece from Alicante and the band were founded by Angel + Carlos (guitars), Basilio (vocals + bass) and Carlos (drums) and I have no further info except one year later a second single was made via Dos Rombos Discos. Really a pity because what the guys here celebrate is first cream. Three excellent uncompromising kbd flowers and it's no wonder that one was use for the fantastic La Repera compilation on Get Baque Records. One more slab of rare nuggets from the early 80's and makes the frost melt, guaranteed!

THE PRIDE - No Holding Back! 1996

After the Fresh & Burning EP this four piece Oisters from Bruges released their debut album via Streetpunk Records. The band starts in the early 90's as the Mushrooms, Patrick (drums), Steve (guitars) Chris (bass) and with second guitarist Berca they changed their name into The Pride and the music manifests in a decent streetpunk sound, away from the simple three chord punk of the early days. Meanwhile they have released a few records, played gigs and have a good name in the Oi! scene I think. Twelve solid untameable melodic hits and would you like to know more, point your cursor at Backstreet Battalion and have pleasure with an interview while you listen.

DAILY TERROR - Schmutzige Zeiten 1982

Yesterday, the election for the Mayor in Frankfurt was held and the privilege of democracy gives me the opportunity to vote and of course I was there but I don't give a damn about politics, stupid rules, ridiculous bureaucracy, ambiguous decisions, who needs that anyway? Nobody! We need a place to live, in freedom & with our rules. And with the sound of Daily Terror we come a bit closer to Anarchy. Their debut album was groundbreaking for me and is still a damn classic record: direct, offensive & emotional: Klartext! packed in fourteen anecdotes. Pedder (vocals), Ebbi (guitars), Heiko (bass) & Frank (drums) recorded this brilliant slab. Their first vinyl appearance was on the legendary Soundtracks Zum Untergang compilation in 1980, followed by the BS-Punx EP on No Fun Records and finally the deal with Karl's label Aggressive Rockproduktionen brought us four essential irreplaceable albums. After AGR many more slabs were recorded but I find no access and lost interest. Well, I keep the band as an important part of my life in my heart and don't get tired of enjoying their early statements. As well need their second album Aufrecht from 1984. Deutsche Wertarbeit, can't call it anything else!

AGM - Das Ist Heimat 1980

Another lost treasure of the small Bremer label Heimat Records is the album by AGM (ArbeitsGemeinschaft Rock) and I came to the band, Michael (vocals + guitar), Uwe (bass), Wolfgang (guitars) and Peter (drums), via the great compilation "Unser Sämbler No.1" which I bought cheaply on a record fair in the year 19??, represented there with two very good pieces and I searched for their one and only a long fucking time and finally after many birthdays I have her. Who now expects a typical german punk record as it recorded by many others in the early 80's will be surprised. Eleven songs at a leisurely pace, most over three minutes long plus exquisite lyrics about social ills, personal depths, longings, TV and war are described intellectually and I like that pretty much. On the cover is a number given, probably a limited edition but how many remains a secret. By the way, I added this time the booklet within. Now I dismiss you into the weekend, macht was Sinnvolles!

VOXPOP - 2 1981

Here is the second record, also appeared on Genlyd Records, by this Danish powerpop combo Voxpop with their charmin' singer Elizabeth. On the debut album the punk factor was more intense while the pop sound on this slab is more in the foreground. The songs so therefore rippling past me with little inspiration and no real highlight. I don't know why the power, freshness and enthusiasm from the debut album were not continued. As if the band made a deal with a major so the songs sound. I mean, if you listen to their first album and compare that with this then you're disappointed. At least I feel that way. Reminds me a little of the fourth album by the Upstarts "Still From The Heart", you know. The statutory concept album that broke off my feet. Maybe was the case here. - Well, the band prove talent and maybe it was changed with their third album.

STARJETS - God Bless Starjets 1979

Today we come to a nice Powerpop/Punk band which were formed in Belfast 1976 by Terry (vocals + guitars), Paul (guitars), Sean (bass) and Liam (drums) and they released a bunch of 7Inches and this awesome album at Epic: the StarjetsThey supported Bay City Rollers and Stiff Little Fingers and because of their amiable style they were labelled "the Bay City Rollers of punk". I think this is enough info and I'm not in the mood to write more except this album deserves your attention. 1983 the band disbanded due to musical differences and Terry formed with Pat Gribben the Adventures in the same year. Captain Oi! released a compilation with twenty-one songs in 1999, I think a good investment.

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS - Listen 1983

I turn the gear back a little and we beam ourselves into the glorious UK New Wave/Pop era of the 80s and this combo is still a secret favorite in my eyes and Listen was the second album by A Flock Of Seagulls, released 1983 on Zomba Records and this is their most commercial oneThree singles were released from this record, including a re-recorded version of their debut single '(It's Not Me) Talking', but they were only minor successes in the UK and abroad. The ten songs are not really bad but they come a bit too clean (can't find a suitable word) therefore in my opinion, presumably the Science Fiction theme was presented too vehemently and the stupid society doesn't honor further developments and changeor it was simply not a brilliant idea, who knows? Anyway, even after 35 years, their music can compete with the scrap that they call music today -  I have re-upped their debut album before you ask... and now enjoy the sound of Liverpool!

DZK - De Geração Para Geração Eternamente Punk 1993

A successful blend of early Olho Seco mixed with a pinch of Oi! and the sound of the 90's, that is DZK, a brazilian combo from Santo André/São Paulo. The band had a hard beginning, always line-up changes and on their only album were: Barata (vocals), Charuto (bass), Flexa (guitars) and Makarrão (drums) involved I think, released via We Love Music Company and this is the CD version with seven more tracks from the rare 7Inches they recorded before. Twenty-one famose goodies can be heard and I promise you will love them all. I don't know if the boys keep making music, but there's some info in the file, you should check.

BÄRBEL - Punkzirkus 2001

"Old" men from Hamburg, some with glorious punk rock past - for example 3000 YEN, made a cool album with eighteen punkies and great German lyrics = catchy tunes. Nice lyrics about pretty women cocktail drinking, one or the other tragic love story (with or without a happy ending), their children or simply the preference Punk sung that one probably does not even let go over the years. The fact is the guys from Bärbel have the right sense of humor on the one hand shows the band name and the other the cool cover version of California Dreamin'. Their only album was released via Johnny Mofa Records and Punkzirkus is a record for friends of Hamburg punk rock and of course all other maniacs.

SEKAANNUS - Eksyneet EP 1987

Sekaannus (Confusion) was a punk band from Virrat and they were active 1983-1989 and again in 2008. The band was founded by four high school graduates early 1983 but quickly the bass player went. So Ari (vocals), Hate (guitar) and Sami (drums) started through and played first gigs, a short time later Juha joined as new singer and Ari moved to the bass. A demo was recorded 1984 and together with their friends Massacre they combine their money and released the first vinyl EP called 19??, three songs per band and the result is fast-paced hardcore with limited playing skills, and 300 copies were pressed. 'Kutsu' followed one year later and the music became a step slower but still okay. 1987 Hate left and was replaced by Mikko and this line-up recorded the brilliant Eksyneet EP, released via Stigma and Häkkinen is perhaps the most famous song of the band. Three solid mid-tempo Finnish geysers, highly recommend. The last studio album came 1988 (again on Stigma) called "Minä Ja Hän" with seven goodies. The band decided to make their expression simpler, resulting was a straightforward Hardcore tape recorded in Salo 1989 but is still unpublished. Also represented on compilations, mostly tapes from the 80s. During their six-year history Sekaannus played 30-40 gigs, the last of which was be played @ Puntala in summer of 1989.

2008 the band was re-activated and released two years later a new split EP with Abortti 13 and a split album again with Massacre. Ari (bass), Hate (vox + guitar on the EP), Juha (vocals), Sami (guitars) and Mikko (drums) play some gigs after their reunion and are back full in juice. More new songs are available as digital downloads somewhere.

V/A - Court Metrage EP 1994

For breakfast I serve some delicacies from the French label Panx Productions and the table is plenty covered with sixteen bands offering specialties from their countries, the whole pleasure takes just eleven minutes and so fast I haven't eaten any bun, garnished with eggs, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers + strong coffee. Wish a healthy appetite everybody!

GLUEAMS - Live EP 1981

All these songs on this awesome EP were recorded @ the "Swiss Punk Now" Festival in November 1979 and Glueams are the only band which released a few samples of this legendary two-day festival and the sound quality is fuckin' TOP! Spray painted cover, done by Dorette herself and 1000 copies were pressed. Glueams were a swiss punk band from Bern with female singer and lyrics in swiss dialect. They had a short existence, I think two years exactly (1979-1981) and the band turned later to legendary art wave/punk band called Grauzone, who created the smash hit "Eisbär"! Glueams released all in all three 7inches and they arequite essential. Raw dirty + catchy killer stuff and extreme hard for an alpine country in my opinion. In 2010 came a complete discography album by Static Age out with all their official songs and if you had the chance to buy a copy don't hesitate. Swiss Punk at it's fuckin' best!! Cheers :)

RÄDSLA - Sanningen För Pojkar 1981

Founded 1979 in Lund/Sweden by Mikael (vocals), Henki + Boklund (guitars), Mats (bass) and Bure (drums) and together they were a pretty rough powerpop-punk blast, maybe the first who have long rehearsed. The name Rädsla (Fear) is taken from a song that they called Fear and they thought this was a good one because it is often found in newspapers with both: fun and exciting meanings. 1980 the band released their first 7Inch called "Mannen" on Heartwork Records with three songs, one year later this mini album followed, again on Heartwork Records and on it seven remarkable tunes. Not in the traditional KBD style, rather very playful with nice harmonic snotty guitars, exact my cup of tea and I can listen again & again to their charmin' sound. This album is a real highlight and everything is perfect. Rädsla have further contribute a few songs for various compilations (check Vägra Raggarna Benzin Vol.3 & 4 for example) and 1981 the band broke up. Enjoy this music and finally you will say: "From being nothing, they have become something!"

CHARTS - Tears 7'' 1979

At the beginning of the punkhype Belgium had a lively scene and lots of good bands made cool records, one of them follows now and it's another re-post which was first posted on the unfortunately inactive Girls From Tahiti Blog seven years ago and as loyal reader you know which rare and fantastic records were to be found there. Well, about the Charts there is absolutely zero info and even on relevant compilations the four are nowhere to found. Their only slab was released on Eden Production and Tears I've already used for one of my boring selfmade composition, the heartbreaking Kiss This (re-upped) weed. The a-side is a decent 3:44 number and I would almost say that I hear a slight breeze of Oi!, comparable to the early English or South American sound, the guitar heavily distorted and four chords are enough. The flip sounds as well, just a bit shorter = finished. Get Baque Records released a cool CD called Belgique Putain Frigide with massive highlights of the early Belgian scene and Charts were immortalized on it - Enjoy!!

HISTERIA OI! - Meninos Do Brasil 1988

Let's move to São Paulo and meet Histeria Oi!, formed 1982 and they released one album via Devil Discos and recorded were twelve solid Oi! numbers by Animal (bass), Betão (vocals), Marcelo + Toni (guitars) and Vitorio (drums). I have not much info about them but a few words I found via the great Lone Rider site, an interview with Bronco Armyalso from São PauloHisteria Oi! released a very raw and powerful album in the 80’s and a few songs for the compilation series Oi! Um Grito De Uniao some years later. Their record had the real face of suburban Oi! music, with themes that all suburban kids could identify with. We recorded two Histeria cover songs that should have been released in a tribute to them, but due to some problems between label, organizers and bands this tribute will probably never be released… - Well, few words but all who loves a good streetpunk sound comes fully at their expense.

FLATSCH! - Was Mer Hat Des Hat Mer 1980

Flatsch!, named after the sound what makes a cake, or similar beautiful things, if it lands in a face, was a hessian band + founded in Offebach and plays a solid rock sound with funny german lyrics, mostly in hessian dialect recited, and in the Rhein-Main Bembel area very popular with their mix of rock and comedy. Gerd Knebel, the singer of the band, has become nationally known as one half of comedy duo Badesalz (along with Henni Nachtsheim). Live (as far as I can remember) an exciting pleasure and they played at that time lots in youth clubs or similar places and I had the opportunity to experience them a few times for little Deutsch-Mark. For everyone here in Frankfurt/Offenbach is Flatsch! a term as Äppelwoi or Handkäs'. But even if you don't understand a fucking word they are a musical highlight. So this is their legendary debut on Rockport (original on Tonstudio Bieber) in a modest recording quality and the band existed from 1979-1988. More info on wiki.

GECKOS - Twilight Zoo EP 1989

I became acquainted with the Geckos when I did my community service 1990 in Lüneburg and browsed Hamburg for records and I found among others this little EP in a well-stocked record shop in St.Pauli. The Geckos made their debut album 1988 called 'Gritar' and one year later 'Twilight Zoo' with four beautiful pop songs, both on Rockaway Beach Records. The flip is for me the winner, "All In Vain" is a nice acoustic song while "Your Ears" brings a bit more speed, both with brilliant lyrics. And a goodie in German is also within. All in all a pleasant little example Hamburger Schule.

V/A - Bloodstains Across Yugoslavia 1997

After renewing some Bloodstains posts I add another gem of this series, this time with massive hits from Ex-Yugoslavia, we stay also on the Mediterranean Sea, the place I love and now would to be. Today it gets very frosty again and I hate winter but maybe this hot compilation helps with twenty two glowing stars to get my engine started, who knows? Fact is, today is Friday, soon is weekend, I drink a delicious caramel coffee and I'm amazingly fit. To the slab not much: the créme de la créme of early Yugo-bands are here together and the song selection is quite superb and by using the search function you'll find plenty records of the bands (sure not online anymore, ask for a re-upp). The bike remains in the closet, subway preferred. Wish everyone a nice weekend!!

V/A - The Price Of Silence 2013

Attractive sounds from my favorite country and the songs were recorded from the late 80s to early 90s. Three combos, probably from the Athens area, have the channel full anwant to share their aggressive moods with us and they do this with full passion. Top record, fantastic hymns and hearty as a sunny holiday in Greece... Enjoy!!

REASON TO BELIEVE - When Reasons Sleeps, Demons Dance 1990

A remnant of my old blog and I don't remember who sent it but it's worth to post this music again. Reason To Believe was formed in South Bay, Los Angeles in summer 1987. They released "The Next Door EP" in 1988 and "When Reason Sleeps, Demons Dance " two years later, both on Nemisis Records. The band plays a decent catchy melodical hardcore with a singer who's voice is damn amazing, reminds me a litte bit of the powerful English sound from HDQ, Gun's & Wankers or the Instigators. These twenty-five minutes are quite brilliant and has such dynamic like a waterfall and I can listen to everytime, everywhere, early 90s the band split up and now ready for the Waldstadion!

LES CADAVRES & VATICAN - Rien N'a Changé 12'' 1982

Paris, city of love and home of many cool french punk bands. For example these two rockers. This 12'' was issued in 1982 by F.L.V.M. and we have fine well-produced mid-tempo punk from Les Cadavres with four powerful, accelerated singalong choruses numbers, excellent stuff. With short interruptions they have released lots of 7Inches + albums to date and according to my information they still alive. - The flip belongs to the Vaticans and in their short lifespan (1981-1984) they have not much recorded but this three tracks are pretty cool and excellent as well. Fazit: 1A punk rock sung in French with a touch of Oi! = fine release!

P.F. COMMANDO - Svenne Pop 1978 + Nu Ska Vi Ha Kul 1980

No big surprise now because Sweden is blessed with brilliant punk bands and P.F. Commando from Gävle prove it now with their two EP's. Excellent catchy music which I can listen to again and again. Everything's just right: sound, tempo, voice! As good as it gets! The band was created by Sonny Jansson and Janne Ricknell and they were one of the first swedish punkbands that recorded an album called Manipulerade Mongon and came out 1979. At the same time they were featured on the compilation "Nä Nu Gävlar". During their existence they release two more albums, Jag Är En Duva (1981) and "In A Pose" (recorded 1979 and released in 1997). Excellent music!

THE RAGS - s/t EP 1990

Loud, fast and melodic '77 punk from Darmstadt hide this four men in their luggage and it's time to open the door to the barbarians and together we celebrate their debut record with three ass-kickin' numbers, nothing more nothing less, released via the essential German label Incognito Records. The Rags: Sebastian (vocals), Holger (bass), Reiner + Marc (guitars) and Oli (drums), had also an song on the not uninteresting international Flops Of The Pops compilation and in the same year they published their only album called Crunch (coming soon). I think after playin' a few gigs this year the band broke up. So enjoy a small legacy by this great combo for your deaf ears.

DIE X AGENTEN - Durch Die Wüste 1983

Fuck! I hope I will not get sick, since yesterday fever and sore throat, so today only a quick flare. Let's move to Hamburg and I remember it took a long time to get the 2nd album by the X AGENTEN because the debut Im Lichtermeer is absolute brilliant and I must had to hear this damn successor, but unfortunately they push their "punky" wave sound in the back and float more into a poppy, more keyboards & less guitars style and that brings songs with over three minutes out. Even textually they move around in a peaceful landscape with little thorns. Well, Durch Die Wüste is still a nice album and you can use it maybe for a nice evening for two with tons of wine/beer and Ahle Worscht or anything else. Released via Reflektor Z and the Agents were: Martin (vocals), Jan (bass), Oliver (guitars), Gerald (drums) and all (keyboards). Now back into bed, DVD in and prepare myself for Sunday's match.

FRANKIE STUBBS - Unhinged EP 1995

Always a good choice and a permanent guest on my turntable is this gentleman: Frankie Stubbs, known by his rough voice in Leatherface, Jesse, Pope, N.R.F.B.... and he released two solo records, first the Unhinged EP on Rugger Bugger and in 2000 a 10'' via Sounds Of Subterrania and both goodies in this post. Nine acoustic beautiful melodic songs, some covers plus an unpublished one, made to come down and refuel new strength. There are only a few people who can transport such emotions and Frankie does it in an impressive way and too bad that he obviously stopped making music. Well, eventually it is enough - Thanks!

V/A - Killed By Synth Vol.1 2012

Last but not least on this icy Thursday a compilation with sixteen nervous synth punk tracks from the early days and I was really surprised about the title. We all know the fantastic records that came out mostly in the 90s and unfortunately not much follows nowadays but sometimes something comes along, like this beautiful record and this is a bit chaotic: all in all are fourteen songs on it and the tracklist is not correct either but I completed it and now everything is in order. All bands from the States and most tracks are from rare singles that hardly anyone knows, including me, so an excellent reason to look for it. Healthy mix definitely and a synthesizer can also please. I'm curious if Volume 2 follows. What do you all mean?

1.Signals - SHOX LUMANIA
2.City Streets - LAST FOUR (4) DIGITS
3.Red Asphalt - RED ASPHALT
4.Modern Noise - A-MOMS
5.Laundramat Lover Boy - ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
6.T.V. - BIG BOYS
7.Police State - ASBESTOS ROCK PYLE
8.Rip Me - OIL TASTERS
9.People - F-SYSTEMS

WARM GUN - s/t EP 1977

We top it now with this little slab by Parisians punx Warm Gun with their only record on Isadora who unfold a very sharp rock and that, like great part of the bands of the first wave of French punk, remit to influences proto American punk. The line-up while they recorded this homonymous EP were Thierry and Philippe (guitars), Fred (bass), Olivier (drums) and Jean-Paul (vocals). During their two years of existence they appeared later on some compilations, two here: Killed By Death #24 and Paink (French Punk Anthems 1977-1982)Four cozy mid-tempo numbers which sure to hit and I'm looking forward to the weekend.
