DAILY TERROR - Gefühl & Härte 12'' 1985

With their third album, Daily Terror have reformed and moved away from aggressive D-Punk and don't hit any new formula with a new line-up, but rather changed their sound to more melodic songs which are more emotional but not a bit quieter: Gefühl & Härte (Feeling & Hardness). And that's exactly what is brilliantly implemented in the five songs and I like the record from the start. Pedder's voice is a bit muffled as usual and the lyric sheet is a big help. Released again on Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) and I think they have proven once again with these recordings that they belong to the upper league of D-Punk and were incredibly important for the scene. At least for me they have given me a lot of good times and help me through dark phases that I had to overcome, and I will sell their records when I get Alzheimer. Daily Terror is always a good choice when you're feeling down and gives you much breathing room. Enough for today, let's go straight to Larz and watch the SGE versus Bayern (Hans, I haven't forgotten you). Enjoy!

CERESIT - Three Gallows 1985

Founded in Berlin 1981 as Ceresit '81, this is the only album by this five piece, Marcel (vocals/guitar), Sven (guitars), Daniel (bass), Marcus (keyboards), Ralf (drums) on ...Isn't That Cheating? Records. The first Demo, C90 tape, was released in 1984 and three songs from it were re-recorded and immortalized on the Let's Have More Fun Compilation on More Fun Records (1985) among other interesting D-punk combos that formed also in the early Eighties. A second part Fun's Not Dead came to light shortly after and again three songs were taken, why exact the same ones is not known. Well, the band then recorded their album in the legendary Music Lab Studio in Berlin and we know many splendid AGR records and this would have easily fit to the label. Remarkable is the use of keyboards, such as Razzia used on their second album, but Ceresit kept them more in the background, German and English lyrics, musically hard & solid D-Punk with a useful tempo. 👍

V/A - Kulturschock Attacke #2 1987

An excellent follow-up to Volume 1 is Kulturschock Attacke numero two on Broken Rollbrett Records and belongs for me to the most important D-Punk compilations like those by Weird System and AGRTwenty-two true nuggets are on here from bands that were either newly formed at the time and released their first recordings here, some only made it to a demo, others released some brilliant records (find them in this theater)Some songs are really exceptionally good, for example Result Of Boredom, Pestlilence, Silent Rate, F.O.H. or Catholic Sperms, whose songs are almost the highlights for me and which I would have believed had the potential for a great future in the Eighties. But the other musical outpourings are also worth listening to and I give these two volumes full marks; GREAT GERMAN NOISE ATTACK! Now I'm snipping four kilos of strawberries I've picked myself and in the afternoon there's the delicious SGE BurgerIs life great sometimes? Yes, it is!

VERLORENE UNSCHULD - s/t EP 1981

Puhhhh, a little tired from the hard weekend and all re-upp requests must wait until next week. Now Verlorene Unschuld, formed 1981 in Berlin by Raymond (vocals), Andreas & Straftat (guitars), Jörg (bass), Michael (drums) and they won the Senatsrockwettbewerb in the same year (a competition of Berlin bands), resulting in a government financed but self-distributed 7" production (1200 copies) and a sponsored gig in the capital. They signed to Pool/Teldec and produced one more single and a rare 12Inch. This nice piece of wax on Berlin Rock News is their debut vinyl and is not really a punk record & a bit atypical for Berlin bands at that time, we all know the AGR and Weird System bands but V.U. are a little different and have their own charm and delight us with three catchy mid-tempo goodies.

DIE SEUCHE - Pächter Des Wahnsinns 1990

After their debut die Seuche from Berlin released the same year this mini-album with four more metallic punk songs on the A-side and five live recordings from the Open-Air Festival Hasenheide/Berlin 21.07.1990, again via Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR). Very powerful record and good German lyrics. Die Seuche broke up 1993.

NORMAHL - Ein Volk Steht Hinter Uns 1982

Now a German Punk classic, second 12'' in form of a mini LP from Stuttgart on Mülleimer Records by Normahl before they made their brilliant Der Adler Ist Gelandet album. Eight good offensive songs in a gruff recording as I like it and even if they could not keep up with the AGR combos, the band has established itself in the scene and their first two or three records are among the best from the Eagleland. The first press was published with a white cover and I think with a lyric sheet. In the course of the 1980s, the band came closer to fun punk and became uninteresting for me. I mean, they already had a lot of non-serious lyrics and I wouldn't class them as highly political, but they just sounded rougher and snottier and scattered funnier texts here and there (Al Capone, Ich Entführ Ein Kind or Auschwitz), but always provocative and with ulterior motives, an ambiguity, do you know what I mean?... and this skill is gone in the newer recordings. Well, Normahl are still active, playing gigs and that's the main thing, I saw them live in Stuttgart and it was cool, definitely worth a visit.

V/A - Keine Experimente! 1983

In the early 80s there existed two essential labels in Germany, Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) from Berlin and Weird System from Hamburg and numerous classics were published on both, while the Waterkants devoting more to the bands than AGR in terms of artwork, limited colored vinyl, lyric sheet, royalties, etc.... but both were significantly involved to give German punk socially acceptable in this country and over and above that. It wasn't as big as AGR, but their early releases count today as important cult factor. WS also became more interested in American bands from the mid-1980s and tried to give new musical impulses, great slabs were licensed and relevant contacts with overseas were created as well. Keine Experimente! was the third release and German bands were asked to send their demos with a bit of basisinfo & lyrics and the result is this fantastic compilation with largely exclusive songs, many became famous afterwards and are still among the best bands in Germany, no wonder that Vol.2 had to follow a year later. Enough Bla Bla, enjoy the old Gassenhauer and a relaxing Pentecost.

2.Du Denkst - BOSKOPS
3.4er-Tram - ZSD

DAILY TERROR - Andere Zeiten 12'' 1999

Always welcome are Daily Terror from Braunschweig, today with their early recordings. The first three from the BS-Punx EP (No Fun Records,1980), #4 appeared on the essential compilation Soundtracks Zum Untergang (AGR, 1980, tracks 5 + 6 originally released on the compilation Hannover Fun Fun Fun (No Fun Records, 1980) and the last three were originally released as Klartext EP (AGR 1982). The idea for this had the small Bochum label Dirty Faces and they packed lots of information, liner notes: Pedder † 11.04.2009, in the booklet with all the lyrics and a complete discography. You can clearly see here the rough sound, the offensive words and the pure anti-attitude of the band which they continued brilliantly on their first two albums. For me one of the most important German punk band whose music invariably infects you, if not go home.

THE BOIKOTTZ - Another Kind Of Humor 1987

Of course we start today with a German record on this cold gray day off and we listen to: Jan (vocals), Stephan (bass), Christian & Lemmi (guitars) and Ander (drums), Hamburg old punk legends with their only album, as I know there exist just one pressing on white vinyl. Fourteen songs with mostly english and german lyrics. Solid fast punk rock mixed with beautiful pissed-off lyrics and the album is a total kicker. Too bad the guys have not made more. They released in 1984 their first EP Punk Wird Leben via AGR which is pretty rare and should have anybody a copy you are a womanizer... Now a cold jever for breakfast and let's see what I continue to unpack.

TOXOPLASMA - s/t LP 1983

Ahhhhh, the monitor problem is fixed and finally it goes forward in this theatre and I throw another german punk classic out. Toxoplasma came from Neuwied and were founded 1980 by Wally (vox), Stefan (bass), Harry (drums) and Markus (guitar), who was replaced after only a few samples by Uwe. The band name derives from the infectious disease toxoplasmosis, in which the singer Wally fell ill in the late 1970s. In 1981 they released a demo and one year later the band was represented on the German-American compilation Underground Hits of the Berlin label Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) with three pieces, where they published the first album in the following year. At the same time, the band went on tour with the American reggae/hardcore punx Bad Brains through Germany. After this tour, Stefan switched to Canal Terror as drummer and Thomas "Mitch" Michel joined the band as bassist. In 1985, Harry got out too. After further changes and failures, the band broke up in 1986 for the first time. In the early 1990s Wally, Mitch and Uwe recorded with a drum computer new records with metal influence and that was it then for me. Their debut is still a great record and belongs definitely one of the top twenty German punk slabs.

TRIEBTÄTER - Hass & Krieg 1984

Cool German Punk from Stuttgart by Triebtäter, founded 1980 and Corpus (vocals), Johnny (guitars), Peter (bass) and Willy (drums) have set with their fifteen striking bangers an exclamation point and brought via Rat Records on our turntables. Solid masterpiece that fits seamlessly with classics from AGR or Weird System. In 1992 Incognito Records released a six track EP with demos from 1982 as part of the 333 x Up & Down series and present on numerous tape compilations. Shortly after Hass & Krieg the band unfortunately broke up.

DAILY TERROR - Schmutzige Zeiten 1982

Yesterday, the election for the Mayor in Frankfurt was held and the privilege of democracy gives me the opportunity to vote and of course I was there but I don't give a damn about politics, stupid rules, ridiculous bureaucracy, ambiguous decisions, who needs that anyway? Nobody! We need a place to live, in freedom & with our rules. And with the sound of Daily Terror we come a bit closer to Anarchy. Their debut album was groundbreaking for me and is still a damn classic record: direct, offensive & emotional: Klartext! packed in fourteen anecdotes. Pedder (vocals), Ebbi (guitars), Heiko (bass) & Frank (drums) recorded this brilliant slab. Their first vinyl appearance was on the legendary Soundtracks Zum Untergang compilation in 1980, followed by the BS-Punx EP on No Fun Records and finally the deal with Karl's label Aggressive Rockproduktionen brought us four essential irreplaceable albums. After AGR many more slabs were recorded but I find no access and lost interest. Well, I keep the band as an important part of my life in my heart and don't get tired of enjoying their early statements. As well need their second album Aufrecht from 1984. Deutsche Wertarbeit, can't call it anything else!

TARGETS - Massenhysterie 1985

We start the long X-Mas weekend with full steam and let's open door #22 with a German classic, thirty years ago and not a bit rusty, this legendary and only album of the Slime successor band appeared. Targets existed only two years, released two EP's (listen) and one album, all on Aggressive Rockproduktionen, and they are still popular in our orbit nowadays, no wonder that Colturschock/Höhnie Records reissued the slab in 2014. Why AGR only at the first pressing with red labels the track "Großer Bruder" has is a mystery to me, my copy has yellow labels. Anyway, the songs sounds still fresh, dynamic and with such intensity which is unparalleled in my opinion, and lyrically as brilliant as Slime: "An Outbreak Of Emotions, People Running Around, On A House Sits A Madman With A Sharp Rifle - Chaos Panic Masshysteria!" - I think that's enough info, buy the record, enjoy this German punk nugget and have a nice time!

V/A - Life Is A Joke 1984

A collection of Punkrock, Hardcore and high energy noise from around this planet. Yeah, exactly and this is the first part of this mini serie, a total of three compilations exist, shot from the Hamburg label Weird System in the 80s into the orbit. I remember at that time I was interested in the publications of the label and bought a lot of records, together with AGR the most important in Germany for essential punkrock. While AGR put its focus on German bands gave the Hamburger international bands the chance to send their demos to them and connections were established, lots of plenty stuff roll in and so they created some damn cool records with awesome songs/bands which are, in my opinion, nowadays belong to the best ever. Life Is A Joke is full with rare tracks, partly nowhere else published, Volume 2 was released as a limited double LP, all records numbered and the first presses come in colorful vinyl, always in an elaborate artwork, made in Germany!

1.Red Threat - FANG
2.Dogs Of War - SAVAGE CIRCLE
3.Miseria E Fome - INOCENTES
4.Oblivion - HYSTERIA
5.The Buck Stops Here - CIVIL DISSIDENT
6.Capital Investment - RIOT SQUAD S.A.
7.Der Söldner - RAZZIA
8.Sota (Endless Version) - TERVEET KÄDET
9.Fuckin' Shit - SHIT S.A.
10.Enorm In Form (Manchmal Träum' Ich Vom Holzbein) - RAZZIA
11.Silent Hate - HYSTERIA
12.Revive Tu Vida - SHIT S.A.

DIE SEUCHE - s/t LP 1990

Time for Die Seuche and they released two records in the 90s via Karl Walterbach's AGR label and I think the last Punk ones. After that, as far as I know, only German metal bands come out on his new label Noise International because he prefers this genre and AGR became history. You can hear this on this album: excellent lyrics, catchy powerful metalpunk sound: Die Seuche!! A short bio in their own words: In the winter of 1984/85 Mannsteinstraße in Berlin-Schöneberg is haunted by a loud and contagious epidemic. It penetrates into the brain via the hearing and settles there. A humid cold attic serves the 5 Urviren (Tom, Frank, Jens, Mark and Ludger) as a breeding ground for the further spread. At the end of 1986, this "New Plague" was briefly dammed up and then spread out over the borders of Berlin with a new occupation as "The Plague" in 1987. They are followed by highly contagious concerts and tours across Germany. Three contaminated phonograms are released and the neighboring countries are infected. Since 1993, Die Seuche has been confined, but not eradicated. Individual components are still active... - In the same year, a mini-album followed 'Pächter Des Wahnsinns' with four new and five live goodies. A solid debut.

TARGETS - Schneller, Lauter, Härter EP 1984

One more superb German Punk I like a lot and I regret to sold this awesome EP many years ago. So if anyone wanna sell this record I'm the right man, of course at a reasonable price, please leave me a message in the comment section for fair offers. Targets were founded ca. 1984 after the dissolution of the best German political punk band Slime in Hamburg by Eddie (bass), Elf (vox & guitars) and Stéphane from the Buttocks (drums). Targets stand for aggressive punk with brilliant offensive lyrics and anyone who knows their full length album can imagine how great they are live (I was lucky to see Slime in HH anno 1990 in Altona/Fabrik: awesome!!). Hamburg had a very active scene + many cool bands released lots of classics and the list is endless. Schneller, Lauter, Härter was released on Karl Walterbach's AGR label and their second 'Menschenjagd' in the same year. 1985 they went to Berlin again and recorded their fantastic album Massenhysterie. Shortly after, the band broke up. What remains are three brilliant records which should have a place in every well-stocked record collection.

SIEGER 1957 - Regen Über Tokio EP 1982

The releases from the Bremen based label Heimat Records are always interesting. Musically, they move between early German Punk, NDW or experimental stuff and sure some redundant records including. I like the label because they set not specifically in one direction such as AGR or Weird System did, rather they gave bands from Bremen and surrounding areas the chance to put their music among the people. They wanna stay small and nowadays Heimat plates are extremely rare and precious. If I can catch one, I don't hesitate. About Sieger 1957 there is not much to tell. A few members were active in AGM, the best punk band in Bremen, and this is their only release. Three tracks you like or dislike. It starts with a reggae tune, sax-intro and lapping comfortably forward. No real Punk cracker at all but nice playing as well. 'Aufstand In Der Badewanne (Riot In The Bathtub)' attracts the pace and is a nice two minute NDW/Punk goodie. The last one 'Europa' is the best for me here, much music like an instrumental and good lyrics about living in our narrow Europe. Check it out!

MARIONETZ - Jetzt Knallt's! 1981

The Marionetz was a german punk band (first as "The Marionettes"), founded 1978 in Munich and this city had at this time a pretty cool punk scene with lots of essential bands, ZSD, Condom, Pack or FKK Strandwixer to name a few. This album was recorded and mixed at the Metro Studio in Munich, April-May 1981 and published by No Fun Records. Goody sound paired with funny lyrics and always worth hearing. As appetizer you can download two songs from the essential Soundtracks Zum Untergang 2 compilation on AGR. One and a half years later (December 1982) came to the following sounds review: "Looking at the scene you can't get away from the Marionetz, even though they are not longer be called punks and classify their music as uncompromising Power-Pop". - Their No-Fun-LP is selling well in hardcore circles and their performances are acclaimed by Undergroundzines writers. Marionetz appeared, fuckin' hell, on radio & television, shows that the group is medium. Their football anthem "Heya-Heya T.S.V." was even played in the Olympic Stadium Munich.

BETON COMBO - Perfektion Ist Sache Der Götter 1981

Another German classic record from AGR is the debut of Berlin's Beton Combo and I'm angry because this fantastic platte I have sold due lack of money, GRRRR. Well, life sometimes doesn't ask for it so with some mp3s have to keep it. Beton Combo was a punk band from the surroundings of the club KZ36 in West Berlin: Heske (vox), Frank (guitars), 3528 (drums), Roger (guitars) and Shake (bass). Heske was involved in the organization of the KZ36 together with Karl-Ulrich Walterbach and Walterbach started a short time later with AGR one of the biggest punk labels of Germany and releaesd the only album in 1981. There followed one mini album and one EP and a few compilation songs before the group dissolved in 1986. On this record are twelve offensive, aggressive wild punkies.

NORMAHL - Der Adler Ist Gelandet 1984

I think this record was a request by a visitor from the babbelstub and I'm chaotic and forget a lot but here I am sure. This is the third 12'' by Normahl, founded 1978 in Winnenden, near Stuttgart. Released via Mülleimer Records and as a cool bonus were the songs from the rare Stuttgart Über Alles EP packed, eine tolle Sache. The band had unfortunately never the reputation like the other German bands on AGR or Weird System although they wrote brilliant music with offensive lyrics (especially on this album). They were put into the fun-punk drawer and so they had this stigma on their throats. Sure, many songs go in this direction but I think Normahl have recognized the signs of the time and they want fun and brought clear their attitude and political statement over and take no leaf before the mouth. Well, this record is one of their best and was even released in red vinyl. A German classic!
