BETON COMBO - Sound Ltd EP 1983

I can still do one more post today and this combo doesn't need many words: straight forward, verbally & musically aggressive and in every way not remorseful, if I can say it soBeton Combo were an influencial political Punkband which were formed in spring 1978 as DC10 in Berlin and this is their only 7Inch which came two years after the great full-length on Karl's Aggressive RockproduktionenFor them, the political is more important than secondary. They play at squats, at demos, in front of prisons,etc..... Radical anti-capitalism is paramount. After this EP they also record the mini-LP 23 Skiddoo, which was their last regular release. 2014 re-issued by StaticAge in partially limited gold vinyl edition. Three uncompromising blasts with a killer production that is raw yet powerful! BetonCombo is a musical monument and we leave it this way. I'm going to eat something now, turkey goulash with salad, and tomorrow I will be back in 100% topform..... I promise!

KILLER PRALINEN - s/t 12'' 1982

Killer Pralinen is a combo from Frankfurt, my hometown, and emerged from Middle Class Fantasies, and consisted of Deo (vocals), Judas (guitars), Prinz Hulk (bass) and TG (drums) and to document the cut, they decided to change their name to Killer Pralinen. Musically, elements from the avant-garde were adopted. They moved away from the fast and hard punk style which they presented gloriously in their few publications, towards post-punk in the style of Killing Joke and UK Decay. In 1982 the band released their only 12'' on Aggressive Rockproduktionen which flopped and really disappointed the punk hearts in Germany, but now a sought-after rarity. Tensions within the band spread and they played again in front of an almost empty hall in Bochum and then dissolved. Today; after Prinz Hulk and TG so also Deo passed away a few years ago. Over the years and not least because of their participation on the first Soundtrack Zum Untergang compilation, the band became cult status of the German punkscene. Their recordings were distributed via bootlegs. In addition, some songs appeared again and again on compis, such as Party In The Gaskammer on the anti-Nazi compilation Nazis Raus!, published by Zap Fanzine and Weird System, etc.... When inquiries accumulated, Deo recorded five older but never published songs from the Killer Pralinen era together with Michael "11" Mayer and Stephan Mahler from Slime which were 2007 published on the complete discography of Middle Class Fantasies under the title Fick Dich Selbst by WS.

TARGETS - Menschenjagd EP 1984

Second and final 7Inch by this short-lived Powerpunk three piece from Hamburg on Aggressive Rockproduktionen, both released shortly before their magnificient album, and all songs were recorded in the legendary Music-Lab Studios in Berlin, the guarantor for flawless productions in the Eighties. Three excellent pieces including a nice version of a German schlager classic. In 2017 a Compilation with both EP's & Outtakes was released on Colturshock, which is definitely worth buying.

DIE SEUCHE - Pächter Des Wahnsinns 1990

After their debut die Seuche from Berlin released the same year this mini-album with four more metallic punk songs on the A-side and five live recordings from the Open-Air Festival Hasenheide/Berlin 21.07.1990, again via Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR). Very powerful record and good German lyrics. Die Seuche broke up 1993.

MISFITS - Earth A.D./Wolfsblood 1983

Last Night I had a sleepless one, too much confusion, too many thoughts I can't handle so I choose a record which helps a lot. Can't tell why all this trouble's in my head but I'm always seemingly disillusioned, disappointed. I guess, I got a bang. Scheiß Drauf! So that's the reason I can't go to work today and you'll see what album I post now and it's superfluous to say something about this brilliant band. The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years, with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain. I love them because this is the sound I like, short, rough, dirty and wild and I have all their records of the Danzig era. Earth A.D. is the second album and it's by far the hardest. Kiss were far as I know the first who paint itself, the Misfits make even partial and thus differ significantly from the others and it works, yeah! I have the German licensed edition of Aggressive RockProduktionen with silver labels. You can get more audio samples on kbdrecords, there are some of their early 7Inches. I must now eat something, I neglected too much. Enjoy the record!

ZWITSCHERMASCHINE & SAU-KERLE - DDR Von Unten 1983

Inspired by Woltis post last wednesday I dug up this record which unfortunately I don't have anymore. Released via Aggressive Rockproduktionen was this the first punk record from the DDR which came on a conspiratorial route from the GDR to West Berlin and is officially appeared only in the West. For years it was the only publication of its kind. The creation of DDR Von Unten occupied the Ministry of State Security for several years, the repression almost exclusively the band mucus germ concerned. Two unofficial employees (IM) were involved in the creation, including the much appreciated alternative writer Sascha Anderson. Zwitschermaschine were founded in Dresden and shine with experimental punk noises while Sau-Kerle from Erfurt play dirty fast Polit/Hardcore/Punk, the band is better known as Schleim-Keim (listen). Approx. 1500 - 4000 were made and more infos in the file.

SLUTS - Bäh!!! 1982

German Punk classic and one of my favorite: Braunschweig early 1980, three guys and one girl got together and decided from now on to make Krach! - the birth of Sluts: Schlampe on the mic, Pelle torments the guitar, Kat tugged on bass and Peter sat on the drums. The Berlin based label Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) set with this release a high standard and "Bäh!!!" is a milestone of German Anarcho-Punkrock. This album is like a drug, don't get confused by all the wankers who criticize this album as a typical punk cliché. Short and concise songs with brilliant lyrics. Unfortunately, their only album with this line-up. When I rip the LP, I found this music lost none of its freshness, hardness and energy. And who listen to this record once stays forever punk & the feeling never goes out (I felt that with many records but this here is every time a blast!), and here I feel like going on the road and hit someone in the face, Streetfight...hell Yeah!!!! In the following two years, the band played several times in Braunschweig and environment, but the end was approaching rapidly and in 1982 Sluts disbanded. Schlampe and Peter joined in 1983 Aktive Notwehr, which were reactivated at this time. Pelle went to Heidelberg and founded 1986 Sluts new. To show that it's not the original band, the name has been attached with an N (new). Since then the band called SLUTS'N. Several years with several line-up changes followed, especially the singer changed frequently, only Pelle on guitar held by constant. Martin sit on the drums since 1988 and sits there even to this day. In this current triple-cast Sluts'N have played around 30 live gigs and released two 7inches and two albums. Overall, Bäh!!! is full of mid-to slow tempo numbers with good strong hooks. ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!!

NEUROTIC ARSEHOLES - Angst 1985

Another highlight of German Punk are the Neurotic Arseholes [Zombie (vocals), Kurt (guitars), Zahnie (bass), Der Kurze (drums)] from Minden who already shone with their debut on Aggressive Rockproduktionen in 1983 and the change to Weird System was the right step. If the debut was quickly & unprofessional recorded in a few days, the four of them reaped more time and understanding from the Hamburgers for the second album so that the production sounds smoother and cleaner and it turned into a masterpiece. I can still sing along to all of the lyrics today. For me, in any case the best album by the Arseholes. The band, whose three albums have now become popular classics of German punk, never saw themselves as a professional or commercial band. Kurt composed and wrote most of the lyrics. The first album consisted of all sorts of song material that had accumulated since the band was founded. The second album is, in the broadest sense, an album which was made up with a few pieces that were created spontaneously in the studio. The concerts of the 1980s took place mainly in youth centers and autonomous centers for minimal fees. Even during the last tour in 1998, the musicians had no ambitions to pursue a further career with the project. Zahni in an interview from 1998: "The concerts have all been great so far, but we don't have to overstrain it either and I don't want to let it get to the point where people start saying it would be better if we didn't have another one did." Thirteen catchy & timeless nuggets features Angst, an album that my earpieces can delight at any time and is a long-running on my phone. Duty Stuff!

AHEADS - Freedom Of Speech EP 1980

Rare self-produced debut EP from the Aheads, formed 1978 in Herdord by Andy (vocals), Bernd (guitars), Bernie (bass), Werner (drums), with four splendid tracks which not only me delighted, also a certain Mr. Walterbach, founder of the Aggressive Rockproduktionen label, because he put them with two songs on his first release, the great Soundtracks Zum Untergang compilation. Followed with their only album one year later. Musically not as hard as the other label mates, but with short melodic hymns Aheads played out their anger & emotions and belong for me to the most important German punk bands of that time. In 1997 another compilation with demos, the EP and album songs was excavated from Loud, Proud & Punk Records which is just as appealing. Great Stuff!

BLACK FLAG - Everything Went Black 1982

Beware!!!! Now a damn classic... masterpiece... eleventh bid... multiple orgasms... passionate vibrations!!! Black Flag was one of America's first hardcore punk bands. They emerged from Southern California to gain international prominence, touring enough to become a major attraction in virtually every city where a scene existed and undoubtedly inspiring others to get in the game. Via the band's SST label, Black Flag played an essential role in the development and popularization of American punk. Through countless revolving door personnel changes — which spawned numerous spin-off bands along the way — Black Flag persevered until 1986, finally dissolving after locating and exploring the zone where punk and heavy metal intersect and overlap. Everything Went Black is an awesome compilation and was released 1982 through SST Records and comprises early unreleased recordings 1978-1981 before Henry Rollins became the band's vocalist in 1981, and was initially released without the group's name on its cover, due to their lawsuit with MCA/Unicorn. Instead, the names of the group members were listed on the first release. Three singer can we enjoy; Keith Morris/Ron Reyes/Dez Cadena and I would say; by far the best time for the Californians & I would like to add a small extract from a brilliant review"As if these recordings needed any more mythos associated with them! Although Nervous Breakdown would set the underground punk scene on fire, and wile Keith Morris’ sardonic, cagey delivery would go on to impress and inform thousands of future punk rockers, there was a scant four Black Flag tracks to his name prioer to Black. As Black Flag seemed to operate in cycles, the same could be said of Ron Reyes as well as Dez Cadena. Little did fans know that for each vocalist, there was nearly a full album’s worth of material- the same material mind you, but unreleased material none the less. Except it wasn’t quite the same material for each singer. Granted, almost all these songs had been released previously and many of the songs crop up two or three times on this release. But, Black was a boon in that it showed how each singer brought his own unique perspective to this material. This showed both the strength of the individual vocalists as well as the core material." Nothing to add I think. I personally prefer the Johnny "Bob" Goldstein era and you guess why, I have the Aggressive Rockproduktionen release and this vinyl-rip comes in refreshing 320k/Bit. Let's Pogo!

V/A - Keine Experimente! 1983

In the early 80s there existed two essential labels in Germany, Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) from Berlin and Weird System from Hamburg and numerous classics were published on both, while the Waterkants devoting more to the bands than AGR in terms of artwork, limited colored vinyl, lyric sheet, royalties, etc.... but both were significantly involved to give German punk socially acceptable in this country and over and above that. It wasn't as big as AGR, but their early releases count today as important cult factor. WS also became more interested in American bands from the mid-1980s and tried to give new musical impulses, great slabs were licensed and relevant contacts with overseas were created as well. Keine Experimente! was the third release and German bands were asked to send their demos with a bit of basisinfo & lyrics and the result is this fantastic compilation with largely exclusive songs, many became famous afterwards and are still among the best bands in Germany, no wonder that Vol.2 had to follow a year later. Enough Bla Bla, enjoy the old Gassenhauer and a relaxing Pentecost.

SLIME - Yankees Raus 1982

March, last post and I dedicate this one to a sublime sound experience by Hamburg's most famous Punx named Slime on Aggressive RockproduktionenIn 1981 they met Karl-Ulrich Walterbach, who signed the young band to his recently founded label and after the two samplers tracks on Soundtracks Zum Untergang, he first released the self-financed debut album and then continued to support the Five in the realization of their follow-up albums. Shortly after the release of Slime I, the band had separated from their drummer Peter "Ball" Wodok, who was unreliable due to frequent drinking. Christian brought Stephan into the band, the two had previously played with ScreamerThe band itself wasn't satisfied with the recordings, because the sound was too 'thin...flat' produced, but I would say the music is still fresh and dynamic after more than forty years and Slime are definitely one of the most important combos in my life, among other things they paved the way for my current existence. And in all these years they're never been taken in by any fucking political scene. 'Alptraum', 'Gerechtigkeit', 'Demokratie' or 'Wenn Der Himmel Brennt' are still great songs and make every tired ass think. Yankees Raus is powerful, straight forward and written during the Reagan era and captures the harsh climate, gray betong canyons and morbid times of the early Eighties brilliantly, a tough part of the town. Do the POGO!

NEUROTIC ARSEHOLES - ...Bis Zum Bitteren Ende 1983

Now to an important band that always inspires me and whose music is way ahead of other bands even after so many years. The music of the Neurotic Arseholes offers predominantly melodic punk with frequent changes in tempo, routine breaks, harmonious guitar solos and the varied mix of styles prove the high musical quality of the talented four. The predominantly subtle political texts are partly German, partly English. The band was founded 1979 in Minden by bassist "Zahni" and guitarist "Kurt", who were inspired by John Peel's program Rock Today. The two had already released a punk fanzine in their home area. In 1980 singer Dierk (“Zombie”) and drummer “Der Kurze” joined the founders (Der Kurze got his pseudonym because he was fourteen years old when he joined the band, and thus about four years younger than his bandmates) and their first appearance took place 1981 in a youth center in Minden. Also in 1981, the quartet received a record contract with Karl-Ulrich Walterbach's label Aggressive Rockproduktionen, whereupon three pieces were recorded in Berlin in one day and published on the essential album Soundtracks Zum Untergang 2. A year later three tracks followed on the Underground Hits compilation and in 1983 the band's first LP, ...Bis Zum Bitteren Ende, was finally released. However, after the album production the collaboration between the band and Walterbach ended, as his label, now Noise International, began to concentrate on the production of metal bands in the mid 80s.

In 1984 they therefore switched to the Hamburg label Weird System, which initially released two new tracks on the brilliant Keine Experimente! Vol.II record before the second album Angst comes in 1985. Despite enthusiastic reviews, there were differences within the band, which therefore decided to break up and gave their official farewell concert on January 25, 1986 in the AJZ Bielefeld. Only for this occasion the Paradise EP (200 copies) was produced and released via Weird System and only sold that evening.

In 1986 the third and final slab Live... All' Die Jahre came out with recordings from the band's last concerts. Individual tracks were also re-released on other samplers of the label. After the split, the members went different ways, Der Kurze founded the band The Brides with guitarist "Kurt", but they never achieved professionalism, so the project was abandoned and Shorty hired himself out as a drummer in dance music bands. Only bass player Zahni, who recently played with the Drowning Roses, achieved a certain level of reputation with this band and was part of the opening act for NOFX on a USA tour.

In 1989 the four reformed and a smaller tour which was simply titled "Just For Fun Tour" was the result that delighted many fans, including myself. During the tour, the Just Do It For Fun EP was distributed with older unreleased recordings. The busy fanzine maker Karl-Heinz Stille took care of the production of the single, the idea for this record: it's a small gratitude from them to everyone who has stood by themselves and know who they are! - Karl-Ulrich Walterbach released a new edition of the debut LP in 1989 without paying royalties to the band, this led to a lengthy legal battle between the four and Walterbach. Then it became quiet around the Arseholes. In 1998 they surprisingly returned with the Melancholia EP and a smaller tour across Germany.

Important, a bloody must have and buy immediately!!!

TARGETS - Massenhysterie 1985

We start the long X-Mas weekend with full steam and let's open door #22 with a German classic, thirty years ago and not a bit rusty, this legendary and only album of the Slime successor band appeared. Targets existed only two years, released two EP's (listen) and one album, all on Aggressive Rockproduktionen, and they are still popular in our orbit nowadays, no wonder that Colturschock/Höhnie Records reissued the slab in 2014. Why AGR only at the first pressing with red labels the track "Großer Bruder" has is a mystery to me, my copy has yellow labels. Anyway, the songs sounds still fresh, dynamic and with such intensity which is unparalleled in my opinion, and lyrically as brilliant as Slime: "An Outbreak Of Emotions, People Running Around, On A House Sits A Madman With A Sharp Rifle - Chaos Panic Masshysteria!" - I think that's enough info, buy the record, enjoy this German punk nugget and have a nice time!

DAILY TERROR - Schmutzige Zeiten 1982

Yesterday, the election for the Mayor in Frankfurt was held and the privilege of democracy gives me the opportunity to vote and of course I was there but I don't give a damn about politics, stupid rules, ridiculous bureaucracy, ambiguous decisions, who needs that anyway? Nobody! We need a place to live, in freedom & with our rules. And with the sound of Daily Terror we come a bit closer to Anarchy. Their debut album was groundbreaking for me and is still a damn classic record: direct, offensive & emotional: Klartext! packed in fourteen anecdotes. Pedder (vocals), Ebbi (guitars), Heiko (bass) & Frank (drums) recorded this brilliant slab. Their first vinyl appearance was on the legendary Soundtracks Zum Untergang compilation in 1980, followed by the BS-Punx EP on No Fun Records and finally the deal with Karl's label Aggressive Rockproduktionen brought us four essential irreplaceable albums. After AGR many more slabs were recorded but I find no access and lost interest. Well, I keep the band as an important part of my life in my heart and don't get tired of enjoying their early statements. As well need their second album Aufrecht from 1984. Deutsche Wertarbeit, can't call it anything else!

V/A - Soundtracks Zum Untergang 1980

Start today, in my opinion with the best German punk compilation ever: the first release of the Berlin label AGGRESSIVE ROCKPRODUKTIONEN (AGR). Full with rare stuff from bands which release a lot of good records and on this vinyl are seventeen hits! Offensive, hard, very good lyrics, straight to the point and a good artwork. Some idiots bothered by two dittys and submitted an application for indexing and got right.... the plate was removed and all other releases were with beeps accompanied (MCF #1 and Slime #6), so simple subculture was then dismembered. Well, the uncensored are rare and expensive, but every damn penny worth. Two years later Volume 2 comes out with more new German bands, more hits and it's, without question, also great, Deutsche Wertarbeit!

TOXOPLASMA - s/t LP 1983

Ahhhhh, the monitor problem is fixed and finally it goes forward in this theatre and I throw another german punk classic out. Toxoplasma came from Neuwied and were founded 1980 by Wally (vox), Stefan (bass), Harry (drums) and Markus (guitar), who was replaced after only a few samples by Uwe. The band name derives from the infectious disease toxoplasmosis, in which the singer Wally fell ill in the late 1970s. In 1981 they released a demo and one year later the band was represented on the German-American compilation Underground Hits of the Berlin label Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) with three pieces, where they published the first album in the following year. At the same time, the band went on tour with the American reggae/hardcore punx Bad Brains through Germany. After this tour, Stefan switched to Canal Terror as drummer and Thomas "Mitch" Michel joined the band as bassist. In 1985, Harry got out too. After further changes and failures, the band broke up in 1986 for the first time. In the early 1990s Wally, Mitch and Uwe recorded with a drum computer new records with metal influence and that was it then for me. Their debut is still a great record and belongs definitely one of the top twenty German punk slabs.
