V/A - British Underground Vol.3 1993

Last and great conclusion of this little unofficial series called British Underground by Chaos Wrecords, 500 copies were pressed and even available on CD. Well, the song selection is once again excellent as the first two volumes and sixteen punk & wave goodies are gathered here and the stand out and my favorite track is by They Must Be Russians, such a great tune and simply terrific! I'm sure you will like this compilations because the mix is great and all three albums also contain hits and rarities. It's just a shame that after volume three no more were created and so we have to be satisfied with these three. After all, they are there and now have fun with them!

1.Ghetto - THE WALL
2.All The Boys Love Carrie - ANOTHER PRETTY FACE
3.Soldier Soldier - SPIZZ ENERGI
4.Horrorshow - SCARS
5.Count For Something - THE OUTSIDERS
6.Benched Down - MODERN EON
7.Big Time - RUDI
8.Subvert - ZOUNDS

V/A - Who's A Punk? 2013

Bit late today, but I had a little housework and had to rip a cool record, but now I'm ready to give you an example of another cool unofficial compilation and first, I think it's from the same detectives who create the Je Suis Punk record; same artwork, almost the same album title and the same stable packaging. I wouldn't say that the songs belong to the very best British punkies, but they are rare, partly unknown to me but that is exactly what made such slabs interesting for me and I'm always curious and happy when such records appear (difficult to keep track of the publication as they usually only appear in limited editions). I have no problem with bootlegs as long as they have a good presentation (a booklet/small insert would have been desirable here) and the selection of songs is largely not available elsewhere, that applies brilliantly on this record. If I award points on a maximum scale of 100, I would give a 90. Ten deduction because no information is included (except on the back). Is that enough for you?... I'm sure - ENJOY!

1.Juvenille City - RICHARD NEWMAN
2.Alltime Needletime Loser - RADIO ACTIVE
3.Bye Byes (Ain't Nice) - TELESCOPE
4.School Days - STEVE VOICE
5.High Rise Love - GYPPO
6.Punk Rock - WOZO
7.Jesus Crisis - HORRORCOMIC
8.Do You Wanna Touch My Safety Pin? - SEPTIMUS
9.Gimme A Can Of Spray Paint - AIRSHIP
10.Down At The Vortex - YELLOW DOG
11.Badly Bruised, Slightly Stoned - COLIN LLOYD BAND
12.Throw Him In Jail - JOHNNY DU CANN
13.Johnny B Rotten - THE MONKS
14.Fuck You - ALBERTO Y LOST TRIOS PARANOIAS

BAD RELIGION - @ Volksbildungsheim, Frankfurt 21.06.1991

Let's end August with a fantastic bootleg from Bad Religion, which I myself was present (see ticket). Who was guest at the time, I don't know anymore, but what I know is the Volksbildungsheim was one of the best locations in Frankurt, I saw many bands there, punk/hardcore and metal bands, the sound was just great and today it's a mainstream cinema. This gig was released under Loosing My Love (a piss name in my opinion) and there are thirty songs to be heard instead of twenty-eight and the sound quality is consistently okay. I find it astonishing what career Bad Religion has completed, today their concerts are mostly sold out in a short time and small halls can't meet this demand, but they are still punkers without taking off. So a gig is always a great experience. I've seen them three times and I've always been satisfied with their performance; authentic and alive. I hope you feel the power and energy of the four and the song selection is also very successful, Bad Religion at its best. I re-upped all previous posts in the blog, Enjoy the Gig!

V/A - Hate Your Neighbours #1 1997

The last weekend before my vacation and let's ring this in with an unofficial compilation by Pussy Muncher and first the question: is there a sequel? As far as I know: No! It doesn't matter either... Eighteen rare New Zealand punk smasher from 1978 to 1983 convince even the deepest forest dwellers, muesli eaters and felt heads, with top insert, band-notes and other useful infos (more background a click away on audioculture), exactly my cup of tea. What more can I say? You Can't Kick Our Arse But You Can Lick It! In this sense, enjoy the nuggets with a cold drink and don't go to bed late.

DIE ÄRZTE - 5, 6, 7, 8 - Bullenstaat! 2002

5, 6, 7, 8 - Bullenstaat! is a brilliant album with twenty-five songs by Die Ärzte on Bondage Records (500 copies) and was only sold on tours. The album was also available from the band's former fan club and is always available for download there as well as on the band's official website. "With a wink, die Ärzte on this album also address all those who have always called them "commercial punk" with "stupid pop songs" because they avoided the sometimes quite monotonous themes of punk music of the 80s, in which it was mostly about the German system, the fucking cops or the good old revolution, and preferred to go their own way to create and perfect their own style. Typical Ärzte humor and nonsense texts in perfection and all this to a musical mix of punk, ska, rockabilly and electro. Thematically it is about their favorite things: police officers, beer, resistance, student girls and rockabillys." One of their best records anyway and the CD version has as bonus the songs of the also fantastic 1, 2, 3, 4 - Bullenstaat! EP on which they cover German punk classics in their style. An absolute listening pleasure from the best band in the world!

LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH - Open Your Eyes/Live @ My Father's Place 1982

Excellent soundboard recording @ My Father's Place/New York from October 1982 and I must confess: I didn't know them at all! Well, I think it's a good choice to start with a live record and this unofficial release (200 copies) fits perfect. A bit wiki info: "The Lords Of The New Church were an English/American gothic rock supergroup with a line-up consisting of four musicians from 1970s punk bands. The band originally comprised vocalist Stiv Bators (Dead Boys), guitarist Brian James (The Damned), bassist Dave Tregunna (Sham 69) and drummer Nick Turner (Barracudas). Launched in 1981, the band released three studio albums and three live albums prior to their dissolution in 1989. During this time, they underwent several line-up changes. More melodic and slickly produced than most punk, their music both reached a broader audience than that of many bands in the genre and alienated hardcore punk fans. The band presented a stylized tribal identity around their appearance and their music that fans embraced: the writer Dave Thompson asserts this represented "the first time since the Sex Pistols' Bromley Contingent fanbase [that] a band had succeeded in grafting its own identity onto its audience without first paying obeisance to the gods of highstreet fashion. Their stage antics became notorious early in their career, with Bators stunts on one occasion reportedly resulting in his clinical death for several minutes." Thirteen crackers in a fine sound quality, ned übel!

SEPTIC DEATH - Gore Story 1992

An unofficial release by Lost and Found Records in 1992, 1000 copies pressed on four different colors (blue, red, yellow & green), with great recordings by my favourite Hardcore combo from Boise/Idaho Septic DeathTwenty-nine rare extreme killer for your deaf ears wait for you I advise you to screw loose things tight. Especially the first nine tracks from their last concert @ the Farm, San Francisco in June 1986 blow everything away, plus the rare rehearsals recordings as well. What more can I say?, I'm absolutely excited by this fantastic music. My recommendation: get the double LP Crossed Out Twice and burn your house down! And if someone has the EP from the Wanted List, please send it to me immediately - A fuckin' must!

V/A - Feel Lucky Punk?!! 1991

Let's sprinkle a bit of warmth into your little desperate hearts on this cold gray Sunday with this unofficial record from Gonzo Hate Binge Records, so let the detectives themselves speaking (so I do not have to blah blah): Greetings, Collector Scum! and welcome to the world of snotty, obnoxious, two-chord punkrock! NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - Ring Of Wild Roses 1996

Friday, weekend and we come to a man who can't be more versatile. I'm talking about Nick CaveAustralian musician, singer-songwriter, author, screenwriter, composer and occasional actor, his music is generally characterised by emotional intensity, a wide variety of influences, his baritone voice and lyrical obsessions with death, religion, love and violence. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were formed in Melbourne 1983 by vocalist Nick Cave, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey and guitarist Blixa Bargeld after the demise of the Birthday Party. So far, they have released sixteen albums and they're still active. These live recordings were released via Kiss The Stone and were taken: tracks 1-9: Bizarre Festival 07/17/1996, tracks 10-11: White Room 1996, tracks 12-14: Brixton Academy 08/14/1996 and I find the song selection very successful and shows an appealing cross section of his music. Enjoy & be enchanted!

V/A - England Belongs To Me #4 1998

Last part of this fine series and this compilation came out in a much less limited number (300 copies), but still kept the focus on the Queen's land. In the vein of the glorious Killed By Death, Bloodstains, Powerpearls or Back To The Front sampler this record is a Killer!!! with tons of rare material from the early punk days in Great Britain. This LP is a Japanese release so Discogs said and megarare. You could probably not find some of the original records for reasonable prices. EA80 - @ The AU, Frankfurt/Main 24.04.2016

Last but not least a great recording of the longest lasting combo in Germany: EA80 celebrating its 40th birthday this year and getting ready for the new album that will be out soon, some of them were presented in Mainz about 3½ weeks ago. The gig in the Au was a bit special, the beginning was at 17:00 on a sunday and it was still light outside and it was sort of weird to go to a concert in the afternoon. However, it was fantastic and the song selection as well. I guess it doesn't take more words. Who knows the four knows what follows, who not, will be thrilled.

SEX PISTOLS - Kill The Hippies In Atlanta 05.01.1978

Pretty cool shot of the Sex Pistols which was recorded in Atlanta/Georgia @ the Great Southeast Music Hall on 5th January, 1978 and released via Big Music. It was their first show in the states and we all know, nine days later they gave their last concert in San Francisco and then the band split, making their ways separately to Los Angeles. McLaren, Cook and Jones prepared to fly to Rio de Janeiro for a working vacation. Vicious, in increasingly bad shape, was taken to Los Angeles by a friend, who then brought him to New York, where he was immediately hospitalised. Rotten flew to New York, where he announced the band's break-up in a newspaper interview on 18 January. I think the states came too early and the people there were not ready for the shockers from Europe but Malcolm saw it differently and so the tragedy took its course. Anyway, I still enjoy their music and without them Punk would not be what it is today.

PLACEBO - @ Olympia Hall, Paris 13.03.2003

I remember, I first came in touch with this three piece with their 7Inch Every You Every Me and I thought to myself, WOW!..who is that?.. lively fresh music, cool voice, great lyrics and it took not long, I bought their first two albums and I'm still a big fan of their music, even a concert in Offenbach on 17.03.2001 I visited. What I like is their sound developed throughout their career, adopting diverse elements from other genres and their quiet pieces meet exactly my dark side. A bit info: Placebo is alternative rock combo from London and were founded in 1994 by Scottish-Belgian singer/guitarist Brian Molko and Swedish bassist/guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Original drummer Robert Schultzberg recorded the band’s debut self-titled album in 1996, but was replaced shortly after by drummer Steve Hewitt. They are known for their androgynous image and angst-fueled musical content. To date, they have released seven studio albums. This very good bootleg was released by Sandie Records and reflects twenty views through their first four. Molko has been quoted as calling the band "for outsiders, by outsiders." Any questions? No, then enjoy the concert!

VENOM - @ Hellfest, Clisson 20.06.2015

The Gods of Black Metal and to date the undisputed #1 are Venom from Newcastle which were formed 1978 and with some breaks still active. Fifteen albums (I only have two left) appeared during this period and with their extreme music they enthrall countless fans all over the world. In 2015 they played at the Hellfest which went three days and here is their gig in a fantastic recording quality. So join the Venom's Legions, pick up the double album From Hell To Unknown as well and have a sunny Easter Monday. Now I have to ride with my bike to Heike's brunch in the heart of Offenbach.

AGENT ORANGE - @ The Dive Bar, Las Vegas 26.09.2014

Hmmmm, I hope you enjoy this month with live stuff and for all those who are on Easter holidays I wish carefree relaxation and for us at home as well. Next show shoot us to Las Vegas at the Dive Bar where Agent Orange played on 26.09.2014 a grandiose gig and they are a fantastic live band and one of my favoritesEnergetic surf punk from the very best and I can't understand why since 1996 no further album was recorded. I believe that there are enough ideas, but obviously it is not easy to unite all members for a short time because family and everyday life make it difficult. Well, maybe there's something to follow and as long as they go on tour they stay alive. Enjoy!

THE DAMNED - Early Demos & Live 1976-1979

Into the weekend with a real rarity and I can't say when this litte piece was released. Facts are: 1-9 Demos ca.1976, 10-21 live elsewhere 1977, 22-24 John Peel Session 11/79 and we listen to the wilder and rogher side of London's the Damned, hopefully everyone knows, the recordings are in my opinion fuckin' special, at least for meThe recording quality is relatively decent and it is always worth putting out a record of the band who been intoxicating us since 1976 with their great music.

BAD RELIGION - Silencio @ Vienna 28.08.1989

Yesterday I was totally exhausted and nothing goes so today I'm feeling better and have time for this next post by Bad Religion and this Bootleg is a excellent come back. Twenty-seven nuggets from their first three album (and I mean the Punk ones) in a solid quality. I think, I must no write further useless words because anyone who has already visited a gig by the gentlemen knows how sweaty ninety minutes can be. So open a beer and spend a little time with finest California smasher.

GENERATION X - Untouchables (Live & Demos 1981)

"This group are important. They are something new, young and exciting. They're fuckin great!" Mark P.(Sniffin Glue 5.11.1976). This nice release was brought to us by A William Broadcasting Production and I don't know the exact release date but that doesn't matter, fifteen live recordings in a modest quality, plus three demos gather here for an hour to document the early days of Generation X, formed in London during the fall of 1976, Billy Idol (guitar), Tony James (bass & vocal) and John Towe (drums) perform a few gigs, under the name Chelsea with Gene October as frontman. Idol and James are also developing a song writing partnership, the results of which are not performed by Chelsea due to a lack of fit with the current group. Idol and James eventually decide to leave Chelsea so that they can create a group based upon their own vision and songs. John Towe comes along as well. On December 4th Billy finds the missing key to their new line up at the Fulham Arts Centre, when he sees seventeen year old Bob "Derwood" Andrews playing guitar in the band Paradox. Derwood is quickly recruited, given a hair cut, and within as little as three weeks after leaving Chelsea, Generation X play their first gig. In mid April 1977, Generation X decide that the weak link in their line-up is drummer John Towe, and he is asked to leave. After auditioning over twenty different drummers, they decide upon eighteen year old Mark Laff (a.k.a. Mark Laffoley). He was drumming for Subway Sect, and upon completion of their lengthy tour with the Clash, leaves to join up with Generation X. With Mark Laff now on-board, the "classic" line-up of Generation X is complete. In May 1979, Bob "Derwood" Andrews tells the other band members, that he is quitting the band. However, his departure is short lived and he soon comes back to finish the remaining live dates (including a tour of Japan) as well as recording sessions for the 3rd LP Sweet Revenge. On December 19th 1979, Derwood again announces to the band that he is leaving and this time sticks to his decision. On January 23rd 1980, Billy and Tony ask drummer Mark Laff to leave the band as well. Bob "Derwood" Andrews and Mark Laff go on to form the group Empire and release one LP Expensive Sound in 1981, before breaking up. Billy Idol and Tony James recruit former Chelsea guitarist James Stevenson and ex-Clash drummer Terry Chimes, re-christen the group Gen X, and go on to release one LP Kiss Me Deadly in 1981, before breaking up.(Source: Mark Gale & Mark Laff) I think you are well informed now so enjoy their sound at maximum volume!

RAZORS - @ The Rebellion Festival, Blackpool 08.08.2014

More awesome live stuff, this time by the Razors which were formed 1977 in Hamburg and with interruptions and changes in the cast, the band is still active today. Feller, Gott and Schwabe began making music together in summer 1977 under the impact of the emerging punk wave. Until May 1978 was rehearsed without a singer and with Klaus a singer was found. He only had three days left to rehearse the set until the first real concert. This took place during the Grünspan concert series in Hamburg. The Razors were henceforth also active in the environment of the Krawall 2000, one of the early important location in Hamburg and there they played regularly. The 1979 7'' Christian Child/Enemy was produced and distributed by the band itself and is a blast in my opinion. The next two releases appeared at the later Cologne right-rock label Rock-O-Rama. In 1981, the band broke the contract with the label and changed for two releases to the Hamburg label Konnekschen. In 1981, singer Klaus left the band to take care of his children from now on, the vocals took over Lui from Napalm. For some concerts, the Razors remained in this formation. Among other things, Martin had during this time a few guest appearances on studio recordings of the band. The band broke up soon thereafter lack of perspective. 2003 is the reunion of the band and one year later a single with new recordings was released by Klartext Records, recorded in the studio of Martin and since them they keep on rockin' which they here clearly underline.

PANIKRAUM - @ Waggon, Offenbach 09.09.2017

Now it's time for live stuff on WDM Records and in September 2017 Panikraum were guests at the best location in the Rhine-Main area called Waggon. Panikraum are Alexander (vocals & guitar), Markus (guitar), Jasper (bass) and Nico (drums) and were founded in Mönchengladbach. "We make music, a little punk, a little rock, a little wave. Lyrically emotional and personal, but also political. A mixture of its own kind." After a nice demo they released their debut Kopkino in 2017 on Major Label (order) with fourteen fantastic emotional goodies and since I love the bands in which some of the gentlemen are also musically active it was a must to cycle to Offenbach and as always, it was an extraordinary experience and a fantastic evening. The recording is quite brilliant and if you wanne get in touch with the band join Facebook and bring them to your city. Thank you for the little break from everyday life!
