CORAIL - Comme Un Surfer 7'' 1979

One more rare 7Inch from France. In Paris are Corail at home and they released their sole record without an label, and are thus another band which no television sect, maybe a few, have them on their radar. No compilation contributions or other activities are known (except on the CD-R Je Suis Né Dans Une Poubelle by Get Baque Records GBR 25) and therefore as white as my wallpaper. Fact is, both lullabies kick decently, in which the flip is clearly the better one with its excellent dirty catchy mid-tempo beat. The a-side is a simple rockin' stomper with perfect guitars and a solid solo, four minutes must be filled.

JIM KNOPF & LUKAS DER LOKOMOTIVFÜHRER - TV Time 7'' 1982

Now a very rare record by a band from Zurich and it's a repost, first posted eight years ago via the beautiful Girls Of Tahiti blog and today I come across with this slab and am excited. Released by the band itself and they recorded two excellent KBD classics, both sung in English. The A-side once a song about the glorious invention television while the flip deals with the question of love, musically top! In 2016 the Berlin based label Static Age brought a reissue in an edition of 100 copies out.

MALE - Zensur & Zensur 1979

Male was one of the first German punk rock band and pioneers of the German New Wave. The band was formed in December 1976 in Düsseldorf by Jürgen Engler, Bernward Malaka & Stefan Schwaab. After their first appearance in March 1977 at the legendary "Ratinger Hof" they played in 1978 at some historically significant festivals of the burgeoning punk scene (at the opening of the SO36 in Berlin and at the legendary Hamburg punk festival "Into The Future" and "In Die Zukunft"). The following year, 1979 they released their only LP, "Zensur & Zensur," the first German punk album, and later the single "Clever & Smart" at Rondo. In May 1980 they accompanied the British punk band The Clash on their tour in Germany. After a final single production with a new sound that had first announced at the Clever & Smart 7'', under the name Vorsprung the band split up. Engler & Malaka founded Die Krupps, while Schwaab and Claus Ritter (drums) went on to pursue the new wave sound under the name "Freunde Der Nacht". Although Male released a few publications and performances during their existence, they were one of the most influential bands of German punk. After a short reunion in 1990, Male exists since 2002 (more or less) and play almost in the original line-up. - Great record!

EXCEL - If It Rains 2011

June 1976, Stephen (drums) and Davis (keyboards) from Yorkshire formed a band called XL. The kid with the guitar, Stephen Smith, was eager to be noticed, so he become a further member and Paul was added to the equation and the band was complete. They knew five songs (covers of Beatles, Showaddywaddy) and played those over and over. After a year of solid gigging, the lads changed their name to Excel and replaced Paul with new axe man Richard. More gigs followed and they writing + performing more of their own songs. Excel founded their own label which was rare in the seventies. Founding member David leave because he was unhappy with the punky direction of the band. Alan enters the stage and in January 1979 they recorded their first 7Inch 'If It Rains' on their newly formed A.R.S.S. Records. Excel toured very much and at an amazing gig in London they sign a contract with Polydor and the second 7Inch 'What Went Wrong?' came out but it unfortunately failed to chart. Undaunted the band recorded a third 7Inch but it came to disputes within the band, arguments broke out which led to fights and it become almost impossible to continue with the recordings. Emergency meetings were held but singer/songwriter was asked to leave Excel. Hearing this, Polydor lost interest and the band were dropped at the end 1980. - The Japanese label 1977 Records, (known for re-releases of early punk/powerpop classics) released this brilliant compilation with fifteen killers, the debut + the second single and demos from their unreleased album. Enough for today, now I have to go to the Museumsuferfest, Cheers!

A5 - Erst Ausgabe EP 1980

The beautiful short life of the band A5 from Bremen ranged from 1980 to late 1981 and the commercial success of the Neue Deutsche Welle was immense and A5 don't five a fuck and wandered off the scene. A5 is a band which characterizes the transition from Punk to NDW very nice and presents a wonderful mix of both. In September 1980, the band consisting of Sabina May, Ego/N, Harald Hass, Wolf Schaller, Rainer Kosch and Knox, their first EP Erst Ausgabe (also known as Seesack EP) were recorded and was released by No Fun Records. In the summer of 1981 they toured with famous bands such as Hans-A-Plast, Rotzkotz and Der Moderne Man and in October 1981 they released their second and last vinyl Kalte Erotik 7'' and shortly after, in late 1981, the band broke up. So on this record are four pretty mid-tempo sterile strips.

REBELL - Jag Behöver Inte Dig 7'' 1979

Not much info about this band from Nyköping with their only release on Stage And Music Records. Maybe you know them from the Bloodstains Across The World #2 compilation where they are present with one song. They started as a rock band but when Punk comes along they changed their band name and style and recorded this awesome record. Two delicious KBD punk anthems they shoot out from the depths of hell and that's it. Both tunes are kickin' and rockin' and poppin' as it should be for 1979 recordings. Whoever stands still by this sound should go to a Roland Schweiser gig.

LES HÉROS - Elle A Le Nom D'Un Cocktail 7'' 1982

This rare piece was released via Spac Production and is the only 7Inch by this French three piece and the Les Héros are one of the combos which made a record and disappeared into nowhereReally a pity, I hear two charming melodic nuggets with a decent tempo and a solid production and I'm sure they had the talent for an album, even the bootleggers have not discovered them. Well, there are blogs like this to change that. The band have somehow the typical French drive as I like and this record belongs definitely to the Punkrock Anthology of the early days.

V/A - 10-29-79 1980

Start today with a rare cool compilation with Portland bands and all songs were recorded live at 29.October 1979 and released via Trap Records, Greg Sage old label. Damn hot stuff and this record has mostly offers of $ 100, !! Of course far exaggerated in my opinion. Well, the sound is still wonderfully fresh and it's nice to feel the spirit of the early raw punk music and myself wants pogo and is ready for a hot hot weekend.

2.Running Dog - LO TEK
3.World Gone Mad - LO TEK

DIE KLOPFERBANDE - Bessere Zeiten 1982

Yeah, one more goodie now with the third album from the Klopferbande and it's a successful continuation. On this album we have eleven brilliant wave/punk songs with intrusive-serious German lyrics. And it's great as before and I will let you know what I'm talking about, of course I'm mean their first album Barbarei and the songs are much more mature, powerful and a real boost to the first album and the cover is even fantastic. So give yourself the full Klopferbande blast. In 1990 they released their 4th record and 2015 the current one. Great record, great music!

ANTI-HEROS - That's Right! 1987

Another classic album for me is the debut by the Anti-Heros, an American Oi!/Punk band which were formed 1984 in Atlanta/Georgia. They took a hiatus from 1989–1993, but continued to record and play concerts through the early 2000s. Anti-Heros are one of the first and most popular American Oi! bands. The original line-up consisted of Mark Noah (vocals), Mike Jones (bass), Phil Solomon (drums) and Joe Winograd (guitar). The band released two records on Link Records in the late 80s, 'That's Right!' in 1987 and 'Don't Tread On Me' one year later. Despite the band's vocal admonishment of racism, their association with such ideals has long been a topic of contention among fans. Their theme song, "Anti-Hero," featured as a standard in their live set. The Anti-Heros stance on racist Skinhead participation in the Atlanta Skinhead scene circa 1987 is addressed in the song "Some Fun" with Mark Noah's lyrics "Now the Nazis are coming around, let's run them out of town!" Their last studio album 'Underneath The Underground' was released 1999.

CITY-X - s/t LP 1985

Well, if you a little bit familiar with danish punk then you should know City-X, listen to the Bloodstains Across Denmark and the 2004 Elektriske Svin compilations. After three decent 7Inches Irmgardz Records released in 1985 the bands only full length and they are with this nine songs far far away from their punk roots. I honestly can't understand why and the change brought nothing special out. I would not even call it New Wave, sounds more like lame pop shit. A real disappointment in my opinion, why then post you will ask? Sometimes such music is okay and it's a rare record and maybe a few like this but I must say, it ripples like a dripping faucet. Anyway, City-X were a very good punk band and when we talk of early danish punk they are an important part of it. Tune 4 and 7 prove this a little and plus points for the pretty artwork.

- Special Thx to Fredrik -

DER DURSTIGE MANN - Himmel & Hölle 1987

Majestic amateurish punk rock from Frankfurt Der Durstige Mann, everyone knows, everyone loves them. Who does not know a single tone becomes yet 100% a fan. ''Himmel & Hölle'' is by far the oddest album they have produced. It includes a Beatles cover 'Little Child' and has many beautiful short songs and the sound quality had prosaicness charakter. Side 2 consists almost entirely longer pieces. For "Monotons Traum" Mark was recorded thirteen minutes at snoring and the result was backed by wild tone-impressions... ("We needed something to make up for the full plate!") Well, is this avantgarde? The record is pressed in flashy colored vinyl. All together, the publications of Eric († 20.01.2016) and syndicate members are great fun an amount.

V/A - Punk Är Trevligt/Jazz Är Farligt 1979

"Punk Är Trevligt/Jazz Är Farligt" means "Punk Is Good/Jazz Is Dangerous" and here are thirteen tracks which have it all. TT Reuter with a classic live tune, City Kent shoot a perfect kbd track in the sky, Garboshock heat with an ingenious organ, D.Kon slightly melancholy calm, Martti Lethargie (cool band name) sounds like the Swedish Doors, brilliant and the rest can also convinced. V/A - Life Is A Joke 1984

A collection of Punkrock, Hardcore and high energy noise from around this planet. Yeah, exactly and this is the first part of this mini serie, a total of three compilations exist, shot from the Hamburg label Weird System in the 80s into the orbit. I remember at that time I was interested in the publications of the label and bought a lot of records, together with AGR the most important in Germany for essential punkrock. While AGR put its focus on German bands gave the Hamburger international bands the chance to send their demos to them and connections were established, lots of plenty stuff roll in and so they created some damn cool records with awesome songs/bands which are, in my opinion, nowadays belong to the best ever. Life Is A Joke is full with rare tracks, partly nowhere else published, Volume 2 was released as a limited double LP, all records numbered and the first presses come in colorful vinyl, always in an elaborate artwork, made in Germany!

V/A - Kick Your Mama's Ass 1996

OK Leute, now we meet a fantastic bootleg which is peppered with eighteen raw and furious punk nuggets from around the world and a label called Reverendo Moon Records from Italy, certainly another synonym for an KBD maniac, pressed this compilation in an edition of 500 copies to the surface. Excellent mix of songs which mark the punk sound between 1977-1981 and you can say what you want: The music was at that time simply better and I wish I had been part of it. Well, no matter. All infos written on the back cover, superb record, let the drugs flow into your brain!

V/A - Vancouver Independence 1980

A short trip across the Atlantic to Canada with stop in Vancouver. There pressed the label Friends Records this nice compilation with eight bands, who had their first concerts and possibly 7Inches at the start, and said: "Hey! It's time to make a record and wake wp the messed up society with new impulses, away from stupidity with fresh sounds." And the result is a varied piece of punk/ska/synth rock. I'm always amazed why such good bands with really great songs shortly afterwards disappear from the scene, also here, lack of money, different kind of interests or other personal differences, who knows. Perhaps it is well so, it makes such rare slabs interesting and in today's mp3 era accessible for everyone. So I guess you will like this stuff + enjoy the early 80s sound.

1.Behind The Smile - SUBHUMANS
2.Don't Like It At All - METROS

V/A - Tollschock 2 1991

Today was sunny so we need the second compilation on Pedder's label Skan Produktions with more bands which partially appear for the first time on vinyl and all fifteen songs are exclusive and unpublished (status 1991 of course). The creative individuality of each band speaks for itself and, with all its diversity, fits into a provocative and homogenous whole. Pogo Ist Trumpf my Friends! A perfect continuation to Tollschock 1 in my opinion. All scans included.

1.Groschengrab - DAILY TERROR

V/A - Bloodstains Across Belgium #3 1998

Last blood across Belgium with more essential punkrock blasts from the early days and this small country had a lot of good bands ready. I guess writing more about this record is superfluous like a stone in the shoe. I'd rather tell you that I'll get another Jever and watch football at home in bed. Also required the other two volumes and I promise, more awesome compilations coming this week, stay tuned.

15.Chaperon Rouge - SEXY BOLLOCKS
16.Ca Gaze Pour Moi - PLASTICHKE

PANSY DIVISION & JELLO BIAFRA - Average Men 7'' 2009

San Fransisco collaboration between Pansy Division and Jello. I believe the only recording and what should I say? Simply brilliant. 'Average Men' is taken from their 2004 album 'That's So Gay' and the band has been active since 1991 and released their seventh album last year. Jello is by far the most famous punkrocker of the states and what he does has always, in my opinion, hand and foot. The flip is a non-album track, I think a cover version, which ends in a locked groove. - Two superb shots!!

VANDAALIT - Betonikolossit 7'' 1981

Vandaalit (Vandals) is a punk band from Hyvinkää. They have been active as musicians ever since the mid-70's, when they were known as Hard-Boiled and performed Hurriganes-type rock'n'roll in English. It all changed in 1977 when they heard Ramones' 2nd LP "Leave Home" being introduced on the radio. The boys changed into fast punk rockers, opted a new name Schlachthof Fünf (did they read Vonnegut?) and soon switched to singing in Finnish after seeing punk pioneers Eppu Normaali. Vocalist Vesa Häkli, bassist Sepi Rautiainen, guitarist Pekka "Piitsi" Huhtakallio and drummer Ari Lindroos debuted on record as one of the eighteen bands on the legendary punk compilation Hilse (1979). Apparently their song became so popular that they were allowed four songs on the sequel "Hilse 2" (1980). One of these four songs were their first-ever composition "En Ole Nainen". Making his debut on a Vandaalit recording was new guitarist Jari "Klide" Pelkonen, whom the other guys had noticed playing in a punk band called Hermones. Sepi Rautiainen headed off to Canada after the debut album was released and lived there until his death from cancer in the liver in 2004. Aki "Appa Nasaretilainen" Kuronen became the new bassist. Another assignment for Häkli was Billy Boys with Terveet Kädet man Läjä Äijälä. Two singles and a mini-LP during 1983-1986, described as experimental electronic psychobilly. Ari and Klide formed hard glam band Sticky Fingers in 1984, and made the "Fight For Fun" LP in 1984. Vandaalit decided to re-unit after seeing each other on Klide's 30th birthday. This reunion lasted for three years and produced two more albums, 'Apinoiden Platta' (1992), which the boys regard as their best, and 'Psykoakatemia' (1993). Vandaalit took great care in their street boy/labourer image, with leather jackets, and guitar straps so long that the instruments almost sweeped the floor. On their records they were far from any preachers or intellectuals, just fun-loving guys who liked playing music much more than going to school or work.

DIE SEUCHE - s/t LP 1990

Time for Die Seuche and they released two records in the 90s via Karl Walterbach's AGR label and I think the last Punk ones. After that, as far as I know, only German metal bands come out on his new label Noise International because he prefers this genre and AGR became history. You can hear this on this album: excellent lyrics, catchy powerful metalpunk sound: Die Seuche!! A short bio in their own words: In the winter of 1984/85 Mannsteinstraße in Berlin-Schöneberg is haunted by a loud and contagious epidemic. It penetrates into the brain via the hearing and settles there. A humid cold attic serves the 5 Urviren (Tom, Frank, Jens, Mark and Ludger) as a breeding ground for the further spread. At the end of 1986, this "New Plague" was briefly dammed up and then spread out over the borders of Berlin with a new occupation as "The Plague" in 1987. They are followed by highly contagious concerts and tours across Germany. Three contaminated phonograms are released and the neighboring countries are infected. Since 1993, Die Seuche has been confined, but not eradicated. Individual components are still active... - In the same year, a mini-album followed 'Pächter Des Wahnsinns' with four new and five live goodies. A solid debut.

REVOLT & SKÄLBY ÖRJANS - Fritt Spelrum EP 1981

Two Järfälla-based bands with three songs each and both play excellent '77 punk and this record was released in an over sized foldout sleeve with all lyrics printed on it and all in good D.I.Y. manner. Both bands toured a lot in Sweden together and the result were these six sound orgasms. Skälby Örjans with their only vinyl songs, Revolt went on releasing a great mini-LP called Vår Blotta Existens (as bonus with it) in 1982 which goes more into rock but they have not lost their punky roots and they also featured on the Förortsrock - Musik Fran Järfä compilation which was released in 1983, of course via Järfälla Rock Records. In any case one more rare + beautiful record and I know you would like both. And now I have to move in bed.

TARGETS - Schneller, Lauter, Härter EP 1984

One more superb German Punk I like a lot and I regret to sold this awesome EP many years ago. So if anyone wanna sell this record I'm the right man, of course at a reasonable price, please leave me a message in the comment section for fair offers. Targets were founded ca. 1984 after the dissolution of the best German political punk band Slime in Hamburg by Eddie (bass), Elf (vox & guitars) and Stéphane from the Buttocks (drums). Targets stand for aggressive punk with brilliant offensive lyrics and anyone who knows their full length album can imagine how great they are live (I was lucky to see Slime in HH anno 1990 in Altona/Fabrik: awesome!!). Hamburg had a very active scene + many cool bands released lots of classics and the list is endless. Schneller, Lauter, Härter was released on Karl Walterbach's AGR label and their second 'Menschenjagd' in the same year. 1985 they went to Berlin again and recorded their fantastic album Massenhysterie. Shortly after, the band broke up. What remains are three brilliant records which should have a place in every well-stocked record collection.

NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS - Das Reich 7'' 2003

One of my favourite bands here and I recommend you to buy their stuff wherever you see a record. Some info from wikipedia: No Hope for the Kids is a Danish punk band that originated from the punkculture evolving around the Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen and they were active from 2003-2007. Kasper Maarbjerg had earlier played in the punkbands Hul and Asbest, while the drummer Peter Bonneman is a former member of Amdi Petersens Armé. No Hope for the Kids plays a type of punk that is influenced by early English punk pre-hardcore, also incorporating heavy rock elements. The lyrics of the songs, sung in both English and Danish, evolves around war, death and depression. The group achieved some popularity in the hardcore punk scene, both in Denmark and abroad, mostly by word of mouth when it released its first single, especially in the United States. The band, in addition to other bands like Gorilla Angreb and Amdi Petersens Armé, was part of a wave of interest abroad for Danish punk. This led to tours both in Europe and the USA. Ronni Dybdahl and Kasper Maarbjerg also plays in the spoof band The Natzees. Their debut 7'' Das Reich from 2003, with a first pressing of 300, was quickly sold out and are now a collector's item sold for exorbitant prices at auction sites like eBay. But there is a 2nd pressing on white vinyl, too, but those are even rarer. The band's debut album was released on vinyl in 2003 by the now defunct Danish label Kick'n'Punch. Titled No Hope for the Kids, it is sometimes wrongly labelled as Storkøbenhavn because the bandmembers on the coverphoto is placed next to the citylimits sign with Storkøbenhavn written on it. The album was released on CD in 2004 by the American label Feral Ward. 2006 saw the release of the Angels Of Destruction 7'' on the label Backwards Masking. The song 'Angels Of Destruction' had previously been released in 2003 on the Danish compilation København I Ruiner on the Kick'n'Punch label. In 2006 the song Treblinka appeared on the punk-compilation Public Safety released by American punkrock magazine MaximumRocknRoll. The self-titled album has now been reissued a third time by Danish label Hjernespind (since the demise of Kick'n'Punch). In January 2008 Hjernespind released an EP which is a reissue of the songs from the bands two singles.

V/A - Killed By Hardcore #2 2002

Redrum Records, you know what this means? Genau, massive rare punk stuff from the early days and now we meet the Hardcore section and this compilation is a great example of nasty bands from every angle of this planet. I quote from back cover: "Welcome to the second installment of Killed By Hardcore. Just like that others series by those useless eaters from hell. This one's already going down hill... to the big money at the end of your wants list. Be warned: all anarchy & violence taken from original vinyls. So if it ain't digital enough you can always listen to disco shit. So bummer bitches, you'll find here explosive material of black small round flat 80s and invite your neighbors and enjoy a hearty BBQ with lots of beer." Twenty-three more on Volume 1 - I wish you all a groovy Sunday and enjoy the music.
