Good evening folks, to be honest: I'm slowly losing the desire to keep my blog alive and I don't know why, maybe I need a break. Wie auch immer... Fuck it! FOXY - Por Vida, Stay Foxy! 2001

So, the second semi-final of the DFB Cup will start shortly and yesterday my favourite team Eintracht managed to make it into the final and let's see who is on 27.05.17 in Berlin with us. But first another highlight which I have already posted on DU and I think it's worth to present this stuff again. This is the debut album by Foxy from Orange County, which includes thirteen songs that were produced by John Maurer (Social Distortion) and recorded 2001 at EMG Studios, North Hollywood/California. Beautiful melodies, inspired by the Ramones and Clash, and all songs are really rockin' and rollin' and they live entirely clear of the rough, but never screamin' voice of hot Lisa, uuhhhhhh..... - You can read a detailed review of the record on OC Weekly, and I leave you for today because I have to pay my bills and soccer rolls in. So suck down this brilliant album and enjoy!

KOLLAA KESTÄÄ - Kokonaan: Jäähyväiset Aseille 1995

Let's meet singalong punk from Tampere: Kollaa Kestää. Founded 1976 by Kai (vox+guitar), Juha (guitar), Erkki (bass) and Jyrki (drums). Mikko came for Erkki on bass after recording their single "Musti, Sotakoira" in 1978. In the band's hometown Tampere the record company Poko Rekords was founded and members of the band were good familiar with the owner Epe Heleniuksen. Kollaa recorded their first single on the Gulf of Microvox studio in the afternoon of 28.November 1977, on the same day Eppu Normaali recorded in the morning their debut single as well. The band recorded the b-side "Tähtien Rauha" in January of the following year. The single was released on March 30, 1978. The new lineup recorded their first EP called Kollaa Kostaa with six songs with Mika Sundqvist MSL-studio on August 24, 1978. Later more songs were recorded for the Hilse compilation and "Adverts Blues" made it and on the Poko Christmas album "Kylmää Joulua!" Kollaa delivered another classic with "Tonttuarmeija". On 19 March 1979 the band recorded the MSL-studio single "Kirjoituksia Kellarista", which appeared during the following month. That same year the band asked Johanna and the labels interest in the publication of the first length album was honest. The label agreed and the band decided to leave Poko. Their debut album Jäähyväiset Aseille was recorded at the peak Finnvox studio and released in yet to the 1979 season. The record became positive criticals and its title song became a small success. Jyrki Siukonen wanted to do something different from the punk-rock and left the band. Mikko Nevalainen from Eppu Normaali joined as bassist. Kai Stone and Juha Helminen were in favor of continuing and did a few gigs with drummer Eila but however, the band broke up the same year.

Kollaa and Jyrki made with Siukonen a gig in Helsinki @ the Old Student House and in summer 1982 the band come for a short reunion together. Kai died on 10 June 2007 at the age of 48 at home and Juha died in March 2013.

HELLHAMMER - Apocalyptic Raids 12'' 1984

All right, the weekend was very intense and after the incredible soccer match Saturday my best friend Larz and me have a session in my room and we talked about our metal days in the 80s and listen to some old trash goodies and he told, he had recently sold this unique record from Hellhammer for about € 50,- and I know the band but none of their songs and so I find a rip and post this bloody sucker here as a further metal post. Musically extreme black/death metal stuff with awesome guitars and I must confess: I still like that. The band released three albums and two EP's and split up three months after recording this record and later regrouped as Celtic Frost. Just try them.

ETER - Berns 7'' 1981

Another hot slab is this rare 7'' from a totally unknown band from Sweden. Here I have absolutely no information and the www gives nothing so forth quite a few words to their music. Shallow pace mixed with brilliant distorted guitars with a female voice, cool solos and both tracks sung in native swedish. I would rather say that the sound tends more to Pop Punk but both songs would not be wrong on a KBD sampler. With a running time of nearly eight minutes is a listening experience guaranteed. Nice record this little gem of swedish subculture - Worth every tone.

- Special Thx to Fredrik -

V/A - Rock Today 1980

I will be a bit softer with the next record which is probably not released (Metronome) and as promo platte cataloged but its still coming out I think. Well anyway, I have a copy here and on this record is a decent gathering of different styles and not all songs are quite cool but more than 50% I would say is acceptable, especially at the end the sound kicks, no wonder with this bands. The drugs show effect and I feel much better than yesterday, must be fit for the stadium tomorrow. All right, that was it for today, tomorrow is another, enjoy the weekend.

1.New Lines On Love - SNIFF'N' THE TEARS
2.So Good To Be Back Home Again - THE TOURISTS
3.The Eton Rifles - THE JAM
4.Hunted - THE PASSIONS
5.American Heartbeat - DUNCAN BROWNE
6.Dead The Beast, Dead The Poison - THE RADIATORS
7.Heavy Duty - JIMMY HIBBERT
8.Gabrielle - THE NIPS
9.Frustration - PURPLE HEARTS
10.Jumping Someone Else's Train - THE CURE
11.Smash It Up - THE DAMNED
12.You're Ready Now - SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS

NO NAME WHY - Sick Life Sucks EP 1997

Motopunk, legendary label here in Frankfurt, was known for their cool garage/hardcore/punk releases and they give mostly bands from Frankfurt (for example SUPERFAN, MONOCHORDS, etc...) and its suburbs of the Rhine-Main-area the chance to get a little bit more famous in Germany or Europe. With No Name Why was the second record released and the band from Oberursel immortalized four dirty Punk'n'Roll numbers in less than six minutes, you think great?? - Yes, fuckin' Great!!! So, now you can imagine from what Mucke I'm talking about. Great AssKickin' sound mixed with finest songwriting form together an explosive bomb which is amazing. And I remember that I spent one or two euros at a record fair for this EP so really a superb investment. Get yourself four.

SCALLY - Que Fue De Los Dos EP 2001

Puuhh, I guess I caught a cold again, no wonder at the frosty temperatures, Fuck! and I'm slowly getting old, ARGHHH. Where are my defense bacilli? - All right, somewhere in the swiss mountains, where otherwise well sonicate only alphorns the lush alpine meadows, Scally have recorded their second EP and it comes with classic old-school hardcore, angry, rough, dirty and bang on your cap. A damn fat piece and the special thing are the spanish lyrics (!) and the expensive D.I.Y. artwork. A total of seven songs, including a live track and very interesting and worth every minute of listening.

JUMPIN' CADORS - 3 Titres EP 1983

Psychobilly stuff by this four piece combo from sunny Nice. Their only record but with three decent killers, released on Rekin's RekordsI am a little fucked and don't slept last night and I move immediately back to my bed to be fit for tomorrow so all I can say about this band is that they have one more song on the Week-End A Nice compilation from Black'n'White Music which came out in 1984, sure a good one. Maybe later more.

NO BOIS - ...Don't Ask! EP 1994

Again rare german stuff from the Cologne label Corrosive Productions comes this EP by this sympathetic five piece band from Cologne I think. No idea if they made more but I think that's all what these boys ever recorded. Unfortunately I can't say much about the band because no information or lyrics exist. They found together on ads or on beer parties, grabbed broken insrumentes, scrape together money and spit out this six fast songs and then immortalized them on vinyl, in the hope then to have a secure pension, haha... - A rarity is this EP well today and I can't imagine that there exists more then 1000 copies. So my pension is secure. Musically No Bois comin' dirty, crashin' and with good short catchy punkies, all sung in English and they provide for miles all the great old punk bands from the UK or USA in the shade. And the singer is convincing with his crushed voice. Don't ask, just trust me: these guys blowing the dust out of your fuckin' deaf ears and that's exactly why such blogs like this (and others) are alive.. to bring you music you have never heard.

BETON COMBO - Perfektion Ist Sache Der Götter 1981

Another German classic record from AGR is the debut of Berlin's Beton Combo and I'm angry because this fantastic platte I have sold due lack of money, GRRRR. Well, life sometimes doesn't ask for it so with some mp3s have to keep it. Beton Combo was a punk band from the surroundings of the club KZ36 in West Berlin: Heske (vox), Frank (guitars), 3528 (drums), Roger (guitars) and Shake (bass). Heske was involved in the organization of the KZ36 together with Karl-Ulrich Walterbach and Walterbach started a short time later with AGR one of the biggest punk labels of Germany and releaesd the only album in 1981. There followed one mini album and one EP and a few compilation songs before the group dissolved in 1986. On this record are twelve offensive, aggressive wild punkies.

KLICHÉ - Okay Okay Boys 1982

Kliché was a Danish new wave band (1977-1985), influenced by Kraftwerk, Punk, Devo and David Bowie. They had, however, a distinct sound mainly due to lead singer Lars Hug's original voice. They would semi-ironically quote Mao Zedong and Buddha and perform in uniforms - often coloured overalls. Lead singer, Lars Hug (later Lars H.U.G.), began his  solo career in 1984 and has released several albums. After Hug left the band, the remaining members released a single album titled Dobbelt Plus under the name Voss Torp Brill. Another member, Nils Torp, later formed the band Souvenirs together with Sofie Bonde. "Okay Okay Boys" is the second and last album from Kliché, released on Medley Records in 1982. Besides the band's usual crew Hilmer Hassig helps as additional guitarist. He was later a member of the Love Shop. The album continues the style from their brilliant debut album Supertanker with futuristic and socially critical lyrics. The song "Bravo Charlie" was released as a single and is a kind of nonsense show where all the words derived from the NATO phonetic alphabet (with the small exception that "Juliet" has become "Julia"). - Nice Powerpop/Wave/Punk!!!

CHARTA 77 - Välfärdens Avfall 1984

The following band has released in their existance a lot of records and it's tedious to enumerate all here (check discogs). Charta 77 was formed in the stairs outside the local dance palace in Köping by a not so sober Per Granberg (bass & vox) and an absolute sober Johnny Smedberg (guitar). Pers old band (N.O.S ) had just split up and he knew that Johnny was looking for a new band to play with. Martin Nordberg (drums) was contacted and the first set-up. One of Swedens most longlived acts and this is fact. The band is a very popular live act and often plays on music festivals. Musically their sound is full of vitality and energy and that's all you need to know. This is their debut album on Birdskit Records with thirteen fairly straight-forward attackers. Who falls asleep here is already dead.

V/A - Street To Street #2 1981

I hope you enjoy the Easter days like me and if not let's go to change that with more extraordinary music. A trip to Liverpool and this record is again released via Open Eye Records and it a worthy sequel to Volume 1 two years earlier. Five bands, two songs each and again musically very appetizing. As with the first record, I am also thrilled by the new wave/synth-pop sound and both together result in a completed whole. Partly pretty minimalistic (Games) and also a bit tempo (Systems) but overall rather calm quiet sounds. So, interesting enough?

1.Days On Edge - EGYPT FOR NOW
2.The Thesis - COOLING TOWERS
3.Total Recall - SYSTEMS
4.Eden - CHINESE RELIGION
5.Unrest In The Real World - GAMES
6.The Song - GAMES
7.Glare Of The Lights - SYSTEMS
8.Make This Day End Soon - COOLING TOWERS
9.Soldiers - EGYPT FOR NOW
10.Chambers - CHINESE RELIGION

NOMEANSNO - Small Parts Isolated & Destroyed 1988

Playing with the occult, having an affair, murder, lust, hating parents, unbelief, cheating, filthy talk, worshiping false gods, envy, homosexuality, witchcraft, wanting something that belongs to something else, swearing, selfishness, incest, stubbornness, pride, shacking, drunkenness, ignoring god, lying, stealing, murder: NoMeansNo, Victoria/British Columbia, formed in 1979 by brothers Rob and John Wright, this is their third album, eight fuckin' nuggets, awesome live band, any questions?

VONBRIGÐI - Ó, Reykjavík 2010

This is a solid release from Mauerstadtmusik with seven punkies from Vonbrigði, an Iceland band which was formed in 1980. Their first 7Inch on Gramm is a brilliant goodie with four songs and you can listen to that via KBD Records. A year later the full length Kakófónía was released and the sound goes more into wave with a dark touch and 1985 the band broke up. In 2004 they come back with guitarist Hallur Ingólfsson and since then they are still active. This mini album shows the bands rough side and hits harder than their album tracks.

THE BUTTOCKS - Fuckin' In The Buttocks 1985

The Buttocks were founded 1978 in Hamburg. The band played a very fast and aggressive style and I can cartainly say at this time the band was the first "hardcore" band from Germany, even heard by the Munich punkers. They released two awesome 7Inches via the legendary Konnekschen label and both are nowadays very sought. Most songs are sung in English. The Buttocks broke up in 1983. The drummer later played for Slime and Torpedo Moskau. Live they are in eyes and ears of many contemporaries the best Hamburg punk band ever. This record was limited to 1000 copies and contains a lot of rough and live material. Damn cool album!

Z. CRAIGNOS - Abus De Pouvoir 7'' 1982

At this hour we stand before a small town called Douzens in the south of France and meet Z.Craignos which released their only 7Inch on P.A.I. Records and let's discover two decent mid-tempo numbers and both shine with an excellent organ which is very beautifully embedded in the whole rhythm like a pulse beat. Yeah, I love this kind of sound. Besides these two nuggets, there are no more songs, not even on any compilation, a real pity. Also no ifno about the band. Anyway, turn up to eleven.

PROTEX - Strange Obsessions 1980/2010

An unreleased album recorded for Polydor around 1980, finally released in 2010 by Sing Sing Records. Protex was a band from Belfast and formed 1977 after a Clash gig by Paul Maxwell (bass/vocals), Owen McFadden (drums), David McMaster (guitar/vocals) and Aidan Murtagh (guitar/vocals) and they released four nice 7Inches and are on numerous compilation (click me). The band was greatly influenced by The Clash and took their original name, Protex Blue, from an album track on The Clash's eponymous debut album. The band did not realise the Clash song was about condoms. They toured much. opened for the Boomtown Rats on their UK tour and on further tours in America and Canada in 1980. Protex's final release for Polydor was the single A Place In Your Heart, after which they were dropped by the label. The band did farewell shows at the Pound Club in Belfast before splitting in 1981. In 2010 New York label Sing Sing Records unearthed unreleased Polydor recordings for an album that never happened and released them on vinyl as Strange Obsessions. This prompted renewed interest in the band. Original members Aidan Murtagh and David McMaster reformed the band with new members Norman Boyd on bass and Gordie Walker on drums and they're still alive.

JOACHIM WITT - Edelweiß 1982

A intense day is coming to an end and I don't want to talk about death and despair. This is my thing and it's nothing for you. Meet Joachim Witt, a German musician and he became a major star of the German pop scene during the eighties with huge hits such as "Der Goldene Reiter". He was one of the biggest names of the "Neue Deutsche Welle" (New German Wave). Edelweiß is his second album and offers ten tracks, composed, written and produced by himself. Like the debut album Joachim Witt shines with a musical & lyrical synthesis of comedy and committed criticism. Stood by 'Silberblick' the state description of our society to the fore, brings the artist here in succinct sense his expressed feelings - the inner world has replaced the external world - Neutral music that represents our spirit of the time of his particular corner of the eye. Dark, poetic, sarcastic, a musical highlight of German pop music.

AKUTT-80 - s/t EP 1980

First the Babbelstub is temporarily defunct and until I have a new one please use the comment section for requests or other questions. Now a rare nugget from my old Wanted-List is this record, as rare as the Niveau Null EP. Only eighty copies were pressed, self released and that's all info I have about this obscure Norwegian punk band. I think, all four songs are presumed recorded directly at their rehearsals to tape, at least they sound like this and I like that very well. Gruff, crude, dirty and pretty bumpy noises are fabricated by this four piece combo and this is why I'm love Punkrock! I look in the mirror and feelin' right and so this is the sound in my veins, you know... Amazing the pretty ballad 'Alta' which has a reggae/jazz touch (I think it's extraordinary) and with 'Prostituert' a superb melodic KBD firecracker finally. They featured on these two unknown compilations Bloodstains Across Norway and Hurra For Norge Vol.3 (both coming soon). Now That's all for now folks, maybe I'll come back tomorrow. Now continue with football, hope the SGE shoots the 1:1.

SKALOPE - Derrigor 1989

Over to Spain in the Basque Country and meet a band from Bilbao. Skalope were formed in 1987 by Sabin (vocals), Jon (guitar), Mo (guitar), Oskar (guitar), Juani (bass) and Javi (drums). Their debut on Discos Suicidas is a mythical album in which you can find fifteen tracks to punk and ska rhythm. About half an hour to sing, dance and fight, based on funny songs and they include two cover versions ("Police & Thieves" & "Blitzkrieg Bop"). A record full of good songs with no expiration date. That's all for today, tonight the football game against Mönchengladbach and I will slowly get into the mood.

THIS SPORTING LIFE - Show Me To The Bellrope 1982

April: more sun, trees become green, skirts are shorter, life awakens. Let's see that these thirty days will be attractive here in this theater. Auckland in the early 80s, out of the ashes of Alms For Children This Sporting Life were formed by Gary (vocals), Paul (guitars), Ben (bass) and Daron (drums) and after a line-up change the band released their debut album on Flying Nun Records and it's to me surprisingly fresh and cheerful and if this had not been requested I probably would not enjoy this great band. Sure I'm not the post-punk type but there are a few babies that inspire me. Quite powerful low-fi Geschrammel who let me wriggle and wild dancing in my room like a madman (hello neighbors!), puhhhh... heart attack is near.... In 1983 a second record was released in form of a 12'' called 'In Limbo' and I would pleased for an email. In the same year the group dissolve.

- Great Thx to Gen -
