V/A - Killed By 7Inch #9 EP 2000

The next various EP is a bootleg, limited to 400 copies on thick black vinyl, plain white labels. One band from the U.K., the others from the States. And as we are used to it by the 12inch compilations bless us this little piece of vinyl just as with rare and superb punk goodies. I must say the 7inches of the 'Killed By Death' series are very hard to find and I'm glad I have a few, so search this Blog for it. Maybe sometimes comes the LP with all singles from # 6 - # 10 out as it did with the first five volumes which you can snatch here. You know with a record like this you can't go wrong, all four songs damn good and my favourite here is The Mel's cut. Detailed info in the file and on the back cover. It's the first post for today and it's early in the morning, first get bread and then again clothes wash. Enjoy the weekend and this little juwel.

1.Can't Understand - ROSES ARE RED
2.Modest Living - THE MEL
3.I Could Puke - WHITE BOY
4.Social Sacrifice - THE MARTYRS

THE SOFTIES - Suicide Pilot 7'' 1978

The Softies was a Dutch punk band that released two singles in 1978, the title track Suicide Pilot is shown on the Killed By Death #1234 compilation. They started during the first punk wave that flooded Holland in the fall of 77, when Michael Smith, a former roadmanager of the Damned came from the U.K. to Amsterdam to form his own band, soon linking up with FrankNstein and Joe Thumper. The Band soon signed up a record deal and the first single 'Suicide Pilot" was released jan.1978. The single was well received by both media and public with its much recognizable air-raidsiren,the opening of the song, and of the many shows that followed. The beginning of march 78 the Softies were joined by
Captain Sensible, who had left the Damned after their splitup, and took up the leadguitar with the Softies. A tour in Germany followed as well as Gigs around Holland. A second single was released in april and the now classic song 'jet boy jet girl', a satire version of the Plastic Bertrand version 'ca plane por moi' (by the way mentioned by Johnny Rotten in The New Musical Express as single of the week!!') was performed/sung by the Captain, great stuff and its said he is still performing it this day and age!!!! Anyhow, it was time for the Captain to go back home, to start his own band, and the Softies were a punkrockin threepieceband again. The Softies released their only album Nice & Nasty album in 1979 on Charlie Records. Michael sadly passed away, round about spring 2005.

V/A - Killed By 7Inch #8 EP 1999

In 1996 the Killed By Death Series starts small in form of ten 7 Inches and of course, again with extremely rare punk rock from the glory old days when this sound kicks every resonable head, ähem. Published again on Redrum Records in limited editions and still not found anywhere. So here is #8 with five bands and six rare goodies. What can I say, consistently cool. I love all the KBD records and I can really hardly detect a failure, that is music that simply moves into the blood and stays inside till collapse. This is what I feel. Anyway, you have the chance to get volume 1-5 on one record which came out in 2000. Get this quick and more pieces follow!

1.At The Hot Club - MATT GRIM
2.He's A Psycho - THE VIBRATORS
3.Blah Blah Blah - REVO
4.You Bastard - ATV
5.Witte Bamen, Zwante Bamen - DANGEROUS PYJAMAS
6.Fashion - DANGEROUS PYJAMAS

V/A - Killed By Death #22 1998

Nothing new but now a post from my former blog. Always satisfied when I listen to a compilation when every song hits the fan and with the KBD series I do nothing wrong. This damn sucker takes possession of the world, from the United States to Japan and the quality is top notch! 500 copies are pressed on black vinyl with white & black labels. A shame it's so hard to find. Everything is fairly brilliant and the makers did again a very great job. More KBD stuff comin' soon so come back and get yourself a fuckin' beer!

SUBWAY - Jesus Loves Me 7'' 1978

Subway was a band from Groningen I think. Their first apperance was a song on the Keihard En Swingend! compilation in 1978. One year later they released this killer 7'' with two tracks on No Fun. After a majestic church intro starts Jesus Loves Me and the fuzzy guitars are awesome. These guys master their instruments and like the Nitwitz they play cool punk'n'roll. One year later they made a second slab in form of a mini-LP called One Way Subway on Universe Productions and this tops the 7Inch double. The band can be found on numerous compilations, the two best in my opinion Killed By Epitaph ('98) and Killed By Death #24 ('99). In February 1983, the group finally took leave at the My Generation festival.

KAOS ROCK - Basta Basta 7'' 1980

Welcome in the raw, wild and psycho-o-phonic sound of this wild punk rock band from Milan. The group were formed in 1979 by Luigi Schiavone (guitar), Gianni Muciaccia (bass), Maurizio Granata (drums), Gianfranco Segatto (guitar) and Cesare Pedrotti (vocals). These restless young teenager were immediately attracted by the wind Punk Rock and also from the slums of unhealthy Lower East Side and CBGB's in New York (R.I.P.) which brings a raw and powerful sound over the ocean and they had enough from the melody and romanticism shit which was characteristic of the Italian light music. So they start Kaos Rock, a musical revolution, a real electric shock. From the capital of Lombardy the band had the opportunity to get a rehearsal room and played first gigs. Eventually the Italian label Cramps Records released their debut album WW 3 (World War 3) in 1980 with fourteen tracks. After the album two 7inches followed and shortly after its release the label unfortunately closed its doors. One of the last albums by the label was the Rock'80 compilation and Kaos Rock has two songs on it and as well on the awesome Killed By Death #201-D'Italia. In 1981 the very short and intense career of Kaos Rock ends. Killer record!

HOLLYWOOD SQUARES - Restrangled 2006

Brilliant Re-release by the Italian label Rave-Up Records and I recommend to buy this record because this is real classic. Detailed information included and all brilliant recordings plus the B-side had live recordeds from the Whisky-a-Go-Go on May 13, 1978 in Los Angeles. Notes from the back cover: "The Hollywood Squares were an American band formed in Los Angeles/California in 1977. They are probably best known for their classic "Hillside Strangler". They broke new ground on the Southern California musical landscape, influencing punk and new wave bands for generations to follow. Guitarist Eddie Vincent and drummer Tad, having played together in various bands since the early seventies, found themselves in London after a gig in Switzerland during the famous punk summer of 1977. Enthusiastically responding to the energy and mayhem of the punk explosion, they were inspired, once back home in L.A., to form the power trio they dubbed the Hollywood Squares. In 1978 they released in a very limited edition on the trio's own Square Records label their first 7'', the issue quickly sold out and has since become a highly sought-after collectible. The single has reappeared in various bootleg incarnations over the years including the 1989 compilation album Killed By Death #1. Eddie's tongue-in-cheek lyric was torn from the headlines that kept a frightened Los Angeles in turmoil for months, and the single spawned a string of bootlegs and uncredited cover versions by punk wannabes that continues to this day. Although new songs were recorded, the group folded before their release. With little contemporary record-label interest or compensation for their work, by the end of summer 1979 the members had gone their separate ways." Only hits here, 24 minutes of explosive material, essential!!!!

V/A - Killed By Hardcore #2 2002

Redrum Records, you know what this means? Genau, massive rare punk stuff from the early days and now we meet the Hardcore section and this compilation is a great example of nasty bands from every angle of this planet. I quote from back cover: "Welcome to the second installment of Killed By Hardcore. Just like that others series by those useless eaters from hell. This one's already going down hill... to the big money at the end of your wants list. Be warned: all anarchy & violence taken from original vinyls. So if it ain't digital enough you can always listen to disco shit. So bummer bitches, you'll find here explosive material of black small round flat 80s and invite your neighbors and enjoy a hearty BBQ with lots of beer." Twenty-three more on Volume 1 - I wish you all a groovy Sunday and enjoy the music.

FLACKOFF - The Flackoff EP 1980

The rooster crows at an early hour and its wake-up call alarms and urges you to get the following awesome slab by this four piece from Leamington Spa on Sofa Records, and this is the only vinyl release by Flackoff with great female vocals and the band consisted of Claire (vocals), Arthur (guitars), Rod (bass), Rick (drums) and this infectious energetic catchy three song goodie is one of those great local one-off EPs that would get a spin on John Peel back in the day, brimming with an endearing and infectious energy that characterized the era. Re-released 2018 by Inflammable Material/Sofa Records in a limited edition of 300 copies and I don't think it's easy to get hold of one of them today. No wonder, three mercilessly brilliant songs who made it onto the essential Killed By Death #007 compilation. Top record of a short-lived combo that definitely had what it takes for more.

PINPOINT - Third State 1980

A very underrated album is the full length by Pinpoint which were formed by Arthur Billingsley (AKA Arturo Bassick) in 1978 after he left the Lurkers, compiled by David M. Allen (bass) and Hugh Griffiths (drums) and it's really a shame that this LP received not much attention at the time of its publication. So for this we are bloggers here to change that. They released overall with the album three 7inches and the most known is their debut single Richmond, all on Albion Records. This album has ten great songs on it, a perfect mixture of fast punk numbers (Blind Eyes, Dark & Red), cool synthesizer smasher (Family Life, Waking Up To Morning, Drowning In The Wave Of Life) and simply great wavie tunes (Listen To The Snow, Hospital, Third State) and a fine ballad (Somebody Told Me). This brilliant record receives my full score and belongs in every punk collection. Compilation featuring the band on Killed By Death #1010011010 and Pure British Pop For Raw People Vol.1 and there is a complete collection CD with all their recordings out which you can order here. So enjoy the 'Third State' and have a sunny time.

V/A - Killed By Death #8½ 1995

After such classic compilations is absent of course a record from the most famous series and this volume has "All American Punk, No Foreign Junk" on it. Excellent song selection, bringing to light some previously unknown (and now ridiculously expensive) records. First pressing with white cover, second in blue. A few bands can be find on other comps. (for example the Texas bands) otherwise the level stays high and gives nothing to moan... other ones follow, Yiiihaaaahhh!!!

THE REJECTS - Back To School EP 1980

Early Texas punk by The Rejects from San Antonio and their only record was the third release on Closet Records. Three excellent smashers, the flip is an instrumental with slight melancholic elements and a nice contrast to the A-side which own two shiny kbd nuggets. 100 copies exist and is just as rare as a sperm sample from the pope. "E.E.G." and "Barbed Wire Baby" also appear on Killed By Death #12, one of the many volumes in this infamous bootleg series chronicling worldwide punk rarities (with a little help by Ryan Richardson).

ISM - Attack 7'' 1980

From the Wanted-List now a rare record by ISM, Punk from Bayside/Queens, N.Y.C. and this is their first release S.I.N. Records. ISM was originally a concept by manager & producer Bob Sallese and lead singer Jism. Larry Ray (now deceased) was the official drummer but Greg D'Amgelo and Dave Miranda appeared on some records and play at some live gigs. They released two albums and the debut album 'A Diet For The Worms' is nowadays fuckin' rare and I never seen a copie elsewhere. Two goodies on this, chunky sound with nice keys. The title track of their second 7Inch was used for Killed By Death #4. So far so good, enjoy!

FLYBOYS - s/t 12'' 1980

I know, I posted this splendid little mini 12'' in my old blog, back then in a lousy quali, but now it has been renewed and came fluttering in by a stork. The last record by the Flyboys from Arcadia/California on Frontier Records, the label of that time, which made essential slabs that are very sought nowadays, no wonder at this high level. The band was formed 1975 and on those last shots were present Jon-Boy (vocals/guitar), Thames (guitar), Scott (bass) and Denny (drums), they released their debut single (1000 copies) in 1977, their second 1979 and their last see above. The Flyboys catch you with no-frills mid-tempo powerpop/punk that can run stress-free at any workplace and even your girlfriend convinced, because you always hear such dirty basement stuff. Present on compilations since the 90s, one of them the fantastic Killed By Death #1010011010 slab. The band broke finally up in 1980.

THE CARDIAC KIDZ - Get Out! 2009

The Cardiac Kidz were an American punk band from San Diego, California active from the late 1970s through the early 1980s. In 1979 the Cardiac Kidz released two 7" vinyl records; a 45 rpm disc, "Get Out / Find Yourself A Way" and an EP called, "Playground." They were the first punk band to make a TV appearance in San Diego June 1979 appearing on San Diego's KFMB-TV show "Sun Up San Diego" (Host Jerry D. Bishop) and were played on San Diego mainstream radio stations of the time such as KGB-FM, KPRI, etc... Articles on the Cardiac Kidz appeared in the San Diego Union Tribune, Kicks Magazine, and the San Diego Reader. The Cardiac Kidz are still featured across the US and in the UK through independent radio shows and podcasts such as "Strange Reaction”. They performed with many San Diego and Los Angeles punk and new wave bands of that era, such as The Penetrators, The Dinettes,  The Monroes, The Rick Elias Band, The Americans, and many others. In 2009, the Italian independent record label, Rave-Up Records, released a limited edition vinyl compilation, collecting the single and EP plus rarities. Get Out! was the only full album released by the Southern Californian punk rock band over thirty years after their last recorded release an 7" vinyl EP featuring four songs recorded live. In this album, The Cardiac Kidz showcased their ability to cross music genres by producing music that treads over both punk rock, and new wave. It was released on October 15, 2009. This was also their first album on Rave-Up Records, after their previous label Lub-Dub Records was folded in 1978. The vinyl LP had a limited pressing of 1000 units. They also featured on Killed By Death #007 and #12. Cardiac Kidz are back again!!!!!

THE COSMETICS - s/t 10'' + Demo 1979 [2019]

The Cosmetics were a five piece from San Francisco, founded in 1979 by Terri (vocals), Jimmy (vocals/guitar), Cliff (guitar), David (bass) & Jane (drums) and they began to start playing alot of gigs in the Bay Area, mostly as opener for well-known like Black Flag or Agent Orange (which I would have liked to experience). In 1980 they released their only record via Doolang Records with five high energy harsh tracks for your sensitive ears. This classic was reissued with their 1979 Demo recordings, which didn't make it onto the record, by PukeNVomit Records, 100 copies in blue, 400 in black vinyl. Their music shine with the excellent two part female-male vocal harmony & interchanges and has a real hit with "Twinkie Madness", who has a guest appearance on the fantastic Killed By Death #8½ compilation, one of their rare compi invitations. Great Stuff!!

BAKRUS - Blå Ljus 7'' 1979 + Nettan 7'' 1980

Obscure stuff now again with more very rare sounds from Sweden, this time with Bakrus from Gothenburg seems to me, and the band existed only for a short time and consisted of Johan (vocals), Bernt & Sven (guitars), Kent (bass), Roland (drums) and they released two 7Inches on their own label Bakrus Records, certainly in small editionsSome of you may known them for their contribution to the terrific Killed By Death #51 compilation, which is packed with extremely rare stuff and the song is the flip from their second single 'Nettan'. But one after the other...

....'Blå Ljus' comes with two four minute lo-fi's which make their way in a leisurely tram pace without looking spectacular but never seems boring, comparable to a glass of beer that you drink with pleasure, you know. 'Nettan' is more punkier, more powerful and dynamic and also better produced, a real cracker. I wouldn't see them as the winner of the two because I'm fascinated by both and I like development. Presumably both slabs were recorded in the Nacksving Studios and apart from the compilation mentioned, they were never invited. That leaves four catchy songs by Bakrus and it is good that they recorded them... in every sense!

- Great Thx to Mr. Fredrik -

CADILLAC - Sweat'Shit 1978

Tonight I will make you happy with another re-post from the Tahiti Girls blog, which unfortunately died much too soon and this nugget is by a four piece from north europe, more precisely Vaajakoski/Jyväskylä and Cadillac were active 1974-1978 and founded by Jouko (guitar + vocals), Tapani (bass + vocals), Jussi (drums + vocals) and in 1977 they released their debut album 'Fly' as Rock Cadillac on Discovox. But one guitar was not enough for their '77 rock sound so Jarmo joined as second guitarist and the Sweet Brains 7'' followed in advance as a sample on Titan out and few months later this, the second and last, brilliant album with twelve decent mid-tempo cookies came and you can clearly hear why two guitars are sometimes a mustRepresented on only two compilations: Bloodstains Across Europe 2 + Killed By Death #33 and supposedly only 300 copies were made of this album and therefore predestined for wdthtc. You'll like it...I'm sure
