V/A - Killed By Death #26 1996

You know with a KBD Sampler you can't do nothing wrong, right? # 26 is a collectionn of early canadian punk from 1977 - 80. Unfortunately, this is one of the harder KBD's to find. It's also one of the best! Much of what is on here is already well known. D.O.A. (two live cuts), The Action & Viletones along with one Forgotten Rebels (Angry) are pretty. Even with the three Smash The State volumes covering a lot of the lesser known bands, a better effort than this could have been put forth. Once more a fine limited (1000 copies) Compilation from the series which I highly appreciate. Brand new and also great Bloodstains Across Canada with more rare Canada stuff.

1.Nazi Training Camp - D.O.A.
2.TV's On The Blink - THE ACTION
3.Danger Boy - THE VILETONES
4.Backdoor To Hell - THE VILETONES
5.To Have Some Fun - THE UGLY
6.Shoeshine Boy - THE CURSE
7.Killer Bees - THE CURSE
8.Angry - FORGOTTEN REBELS
9.National Unity - FORGOTTEN REBELS
10.What Do You Want Me To Do? - POINTED STICKS
11.Love Is Shit (It's Goodbye) - DISHRAGS
12.Steppin' Stone - CARDBOARD BRAINS
13.Want Some Bondage - D.O.A.
14.Step Out Tonight - MODS
15.Past Is Past - DISHRAGS
16.Do The Strangle - THE ACTION

V/A - Rip Off Records Compilation 2010

Finally weekend and you already know that I always greet it with refreshing music and today I open it with a fantastic compilation with combos from the legendary short lived Belfast based label Rip Off Records (specialized mainly on PowerPop) which at the end of the Seventies a bunch of great 7Inches released that are very popular today and it's amazing that an american label named Sing Sing Records brought us this divine record in 2010It goes without saying that the original records were released in very small editions, so this little compi is an excellent idea to keep all those great bands/songs from being forgotten in the dark oblivion of the ocean. Certainly an excellent addition to the two Bloodstains Across Northern Ireland goodies. And now I'm thirsty and I'm hissing a beer...

1.Friends - THE ZIPPS
2.Suzy 'D' - LENNY & THE LAWBREAKERS
3.You'll Never Find Love - MINOR CLASSICS
4.Sharon - PRETTY BOY FLOYD & THE GEMS
5.I Want You - TINOPENERS
6.It For The Kicks - THE FADERS
7.I Don't Like Girls - MINOR CLASSICS
8.Start All Over Again - NO SWEAT
9.Me And Bobby McGee - LENNY & THE LAWBREAKERS
10.Time To Kill - CLIVE CULBERTSON
11.She Doesn't Love Me - CRAMP
12.I Don't Wanna Be - TINOPENERS

VACANT LOT - Living Underground EP 1981

This Canberra based punk band released their only record on Doublethink and offers four weird punkies and they are a bit different to the "conventional" sound I know from down under. The songs are split in two great smashers, Multinationals was used for the nasty Bloodstains Across Australia compilation, the opener of this little piece is also a tasty punk tune and the other two goes more experimental with lots of electronic parts but not bad, not such shit which I sometimes find on good records, cuts like a three minute humming or something like that, you know certainly, I have to throw up. Not here, the five stars make this musically excellent. Check them out for gigs because they're still active and enjoy this stuff. Auf Wiedersehen!

EXPLOSIVES - Come Clean EP 1979

One fine vinyl today and we drive back to Austin/Texas and meet the Explosives: Fred (drums + vocals), Cam (guitars + vocals) and Waller (bass + vocals) and they released their debut EP on their own label Black Hole Records and playing a few shows with old pals Al and John. On this recordings Tom was used as an additional guitarist and a second Strat, of course, amplifies the catchy rhythm of the four even more and I don't know how I come to this band. I discover many new bands via the Killed By Death, Bloodstains or other  compilations but this three piece had no detective on his radar... until now. Wait, there's one record: Live At Raul's from 1979 and they place two grandiose tartlet. After two more 7Inches their first album Restless Natives comes out on Ready Go Records and shortly thereafter the band broke up to my knowledge. Records with Roky Erickson followed but they lost the powerpop/punky roots of their early days. Now I still don't know how I came to the Explosives?? - Anyway, Come Clean is a decent record and all four ciggys kick the yellow out of the egg.... for sure!!

V/A - Bloodstains Across Europe #2 2000

One more today and let's have a look on Europe. On this trip we're back in the years 1978-1982 and meet fifteen rare punk blasts with dirty sound and useless lyrics which no one wants listen to. The Scandinavian region is here the most represented because the people there have nothing better to do as make nasty noises in any cellars to terrorize decent well-behaved neighbors. Even in the south the so-called outsiders leads to this tradition and celebrates gruesome sounds too. Occasion for another civil war? NO, simple punkrock we named it and have you a problem with us fuck your brains. Don't miss Volume 1 of this horrible music. I love you too...

1.24 Hours - THE SQUAD
2.Veckorevyn - BRIGAD 45 B
3.Lifad A Lyginni - FRÆBBLARNIR

THE VORES - Love Canal EP 1978

Juhuuu, Feiertag today and finally being myself and this feels so perfect. What's for breakfast today? The Vores from Buffalo/New York recorded two 7Inches on Family Only and this is their first one. The line-up consisted of Biff (vocals/guitar), Dave (guitar/vocals), Gary (bass), Mike (drums) and four pieces we have on this little sucker. Forming in the late 70s they came from the Punk/NewWave and apart from being included on various compilations documenting that era in US punk/music from New York at that time, they have generally been neglected. This is apparently due to the few really interesting labels of the time and therefore no entry ticket was available. But the slab is acceptable to me and it's not for nothing that the detectives invited them to the catchy series called Killed By Death and Bloodstains. Schee!

ARLO STENMIT & HIS HAMMERKIDS - Belinda 7'' 1979

Almost no one from the Vienna punk scene at that time heard of this band. Only in the nineties acquired Arlo Stenmit & His Hammerkids a certain level of awareness with the song 'Belinda' on the international punk compilation Bloodstains Across The World #2, in their choice set and these obscure 7" (b.t.w. cool cover) were soon on the search lists of all the punk record collectors worldwide. If you listen at 'Belinda', you can understand the reason why. The song rocks!!! It sounds like a punkrock joke in the style of Johnny Moped: bad English, disguised voices, snotty dirty guitar riffs and sing along choruses which can be desribed as comedy punk. That the single was released on a commercial, otherwise dreary Pop/Rock specialized disco label, does not detract the fun too. The flip has with 'COP's Boogie' a nice instrumental tune which starts like an E.L.O. intro, awesome!!!

V/A - Powerpearls Vol.3 1998

Uhh, damn exciting match yesterday at noon with a well-deserved victory for the SGE, the Champions-League is within reach. Now to the announced killer. In the nineties a wave swam over us with unofficial compilations that came up with rare punk classics of the early wild days, the well-known and certainly the best of them are the Killed By Death and Bloodstains series. But there is another interesting third: the Powerpearls series. Just as brilliant and significant contribute to resurrecting lost 7Inch nuggets and getting in touch with bands that nobody or only a few know these days, and whose music kicking just as much as the snotty punk buddies. My focus was more on the first two's and I didn't even know PowerPop that time, but now I like this genre, makes me feel positive and radiant, and it's close rooted with punk and sounds charming and lovely either. There are ten Volumes of these available, most at expensive prices, some with colored vinyl. So keep an eye out for them, it's definitely worth.

1.Bank Holiday Weekend - SEVENTEEN
2.Make The Rules - THE ORBITS
3.Crazy Today - UXB
4.Who's Gonna Tell Mary? - THE MOONDOGS
5.Tapan Aikaa - PROBLEMS?

7.Can't Wait 'Till The Summer Comes - RONNIE MAYOR
8.You Don't Live Here Anymore - THE FANS
9.Together - TESTORS
10.I Want My Woody Back - BARRACUDAS
11.Time - SPEEDIES
12.Degeneration - THE BLITZZ
13.It Shows In Your Face - THE GAS
14.No Man's Land - LEGENDARY LUTON KIPPERS
15.Björn Borg - GÖTEBORG SOUND

17.No Direction - START
18.No Way - THE DONKEYS

V/A - USA 1981 [2019]

Friends, March is rolling in and let's heat up the freezing temperatures with the following slab, which ranks among the best I've heard in a long time. It's good to see, things are happening again on the KBD / Bloodstains front and the detectives have outdone themselves with this compilation and I can recommend you the purchase without hesitation, but you have to be quick, it's "limited to 300 copies and then no more!" Nineteen bands, twenty-two rare songs and one cracker chases the other. The artwork is more colorful than what we know from the classics, but liner-notes to the bands or other infos have been saved (only all 7Inch covers on the back), too bad... two points deducted in the B-note. But that's a mosquito fartz in view of this brilliant record, because as it says here: "Why pay $500 to some gold digger for a 7Inch when you can get the whole package here?" Think about it!!

1.Guns On The Right - DV8
2.Learn To Say Goodbye - DV8
3.Amerikan Story - CULT HEROES

SILENT NOISE - I've Been Hurt 7'' 1979

Appropriate for my physical condition, the following is 7inch and comes from a four piece and was released on Easy Records in an edition of 1000 copies and features two excellent tracks, but in order: Norfolk-based combob which formed 1978 as "Broadside Outcasts" they performed at least one gig with an added saxophonist. The band's name was then changed to Silent Noise after one of Dave's songs and the band consisted of Neil (vocals), Steve (guitars), Dave (bass/vocals), Polo (drums). In 2002 the dutch label Low Down Kids Records released a fantastic compilation "Whatever Happened To Us" with twelve rare goodies and if someone has this, please drop me a mail. Present on a few Compilations, one of them Bloodstains Across The U.K #3, but the four certainly deserve more appearances with their excellent PowerPop stuff. On the road to recovery, I remain yours sincerely.

PORNO CASSETTES - Your Face, A Fucking Disgrace 7'' 1983

Heresy Records had the pleasure of pressing the only single by the Porno Cassettes from London, 100 copies made. Approximately 40-50 copies were rumored to have been thrown in the trash by Heresy after a move in the later 1980's. The band consisted of Stan (vocals), Jacko (guitar), The Dean (lead guitar), Niggs (bass), Paul (drums) and probably dissolved shortly after it appeared. Thereon two real cracker, the A-side is already guest on the Bloodstains Across The World #4 and the full 7Inch on Bored Teenagers Vol.8 compilation from 2015. That's it with information and maybe another tartlet follows afterwards.

LOST KIDS - Bla Bla 1980

Now an album of my favorite ones. Bla Bla is the first longplayer by the Danish Lost Kids from Copenhagen. Founded by Jan Jet 1978 after a trip to Britain. Danish cover versions of first generation punk songs were frequent in the early repertoire, which were revitalized by Jan Jets fresh word-games. With Sods the most famous band from this small Scandinavian country. After two 7inches, Født Som Nul and Cola Freaks, the record was released via Medley Records and is with seventeen songs perfectly loaded. What I particularly like is this record has a great variety, female/male singing, short punk goodies, reggae and a little pop stuff and the singalong factor is enormously high. The use of many instruments is positive as well and garnished here and there with decent short guitar solos. This should persuade you. Also necessarily: Bloodstains Across Denmark. Give It To Me!

CITY-X - s/t LP 1985

Well, if you a little bit familiar with danish punk then you should know City-X, listen to the Bloodstains Across Denmark and the 2004 Elektriske Svin compilations. After three decent 7Inches Irmgardz Records released in 1985 the bands only full length and they are with this nine songs far far away from their punk roots. I honestly can't understand why and the change brought nothing special out. I would not even call it New Wave, sounds more like lame pop shit. A real disappointment in my opinion, why then post you will ask? Sometimes such music is okay and it's a rare record and maybe a few like this but I must say, it ripples like a dripping faucet. Anyway, City-X were a very good punk band and when we talk of early danish punk they are an important part of it. Tune 4 and 7 prove this a little and plus points for the pretty artwork.

FDS - Paranoia EP 1980

OK, a short summary of the rise and fall of Snarklangarna/FDS, as remembered by Patrik, with help from Micke. After various incarnations as Ingenting, Kallsvett, etc, Snarklangarna where formed in 1979 in Rågsved, Stockholm. The initial members where Eva Johansson/Pojken on vocals, Patrik Nilsson/Pinch on guitar, Micke Woxmark - formerly in Insekt - on drums and Jonas Lundborg/Picko on bass. Later in -79 Picko left the group and was replaced by Jocke Pegard/Plutten - formerly in Trams. Around this time the band also changed their name, to FDS. In February -80, they recorded a self-financed EP - Paranoia. As on FDS' live performances, Micke and Jocke switched between drums and bass on different songs on the EP. Guest vocals on the song Arabien, as well as art work on the cover, was provided by Aldo Morot and some reviews where quite positive. Apparently the song Paranoia from the EP later turned up on the awesome punk rock collection Bloodstains Across The World. In the spring/summer of 1980, the band had the pleasure of adding a fifth member, Essing, formerly of Incest Brothers. Unfortunately, all that is left in recorded form from this latest and greatest incarnation of FDS is one studio demo and a handful of badly recorded rehearsals and live tracks. At the end of 1980, the group split. So here now four great early Swedish KBD classics for your discerning ears. (Info from Patrik)

V/A - Tepid Spit Artists/Rare Trax Vol.9 1988

I leave April with this bootleg tape from Down Under which I bought in the 80s from any mailorder when I remember right. At that time I'm not an insider of Australian Punk stuff and  that's why I get this tape for a low price. Now most of the songs are still available and on classic compilations (Flowers From The Dustbin, Bloodstains Across Australia, Not So Humdrum, etc...) scattered but a few cuts are still rare and the records nowadays very hard to get. I think the song selection here is quite good and the work has been worth in any case. This is a C-60 tape in an acceptable sound quality and the last post for today. I wish a sunny long weekend.

2.No Complaints - LEFTOVERS
3.Task Force - RAZAR

THE PINCHERS - Tonight 7'' 1981

The Pinchers were a short-lived combo from Westerlo, a small village near Antwerp, and this their sole single which was released 1981 on Color Records with two hot tracks and is one of the most sought Belgian Punk singles. Comped on Bloodstains Across Belgium #2 as well as other KBD style comps, original copies go for a hefty price tag and in 2018 Belgian Waffles brought a reissue in a limited edition of 500 copies out. Lacking any kind of distribution most records were sold at local shows and very few exist in the wild. Nothing of further information about the band which means that probably only a few know them at all.

DESTROY - Sanoja 7'' 1980

This fuckin' two-sided killer is an absolute must have and if you own a copy then keep it firmly because it is as good as a felicitous relationship. A private release and 200 copies exist. Destroy were Mikko (vocals + guitar), Jukka (guitar), Aki (bass) and Timo (drums) and they are probably from Helsinki because the two songs were recorded there and they master their instruments. The a-side is a brilliant mid-tempo punky one with a slice of rockin' touch, a superb hammer (one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard) and the flip is also great, starts slowly and melanchoic and ends up in a rough fast tempo, oh bloody hell, this is pure awesome music and that's why I love my life. If you've heard something like that you can't be anything else. Sanoja is rightly chosen for the Bloodstains Across The World #2 compilation with other splendid lost nuggets...one of my best posts here. Enjoy the record, the weekend and let's have a drink!

THE BAITERS - Droga För Att Våga EP 1979

Short and sweet the next slab and a bit infos about the band from punktjafs: "The Baiters were born out of Confusion (formed Nov-Dec 77) where Ubbe (guitars) and Johan Fredriksson (bass) were in. In spring '78 bassist Johan Skogh was added and the name was changed to Baiters. At first, the group mixed Swedish and English lyrics, the original for the upcoming single track "Raggare give up" was then called "Raggare piss off". Their big stage debut, they made at the Rock Against racism gala, at Kåren in September -78 together with bands like Skabb, Ebba Grön and GBG Sound. After that, the band was expanded with singer Zäta, this quartet made their debut together with Stoodes at the classic Medborgarhuset gig, an evening that was banded. In autumn-winter 78-79 they were one of the most popular punk bands in Stockholm. They regularly gigged at venues such as Fyran and Musikverket, where they played a total of eleven times. In February '79, the band recorded their debut single (Attack Records) which received good reviews in the daily press. The album also played in the radio program "Hemkört" where Gyllene Tider also made its radio debut. Baiters also participated in the Rock for the Job gala with, among others, Grisen Skriker and Ebba Grön. For single #2, the band had a contract with MNW. The album had a more pop sound and also received positive reviews, but it also became the group's last record. Ubbe and Johan later formed Rex De Rox who released an EP - Modern Mysteries at EMI. Johan Fredriksson can be found today on TV4 as a foreign reporter." Represented on numerous compilations, Bloodstains Across Sweden is one of them.

MR. HYDE - Trop Belle! 7'' 1980

Start today with this rare 7inch by Mr.Hyde, a four piece combo from the city of Saint-Malo and this sucker was released on FLVM and the boys give us two rockin' mid-tempo goodies which should not be forgotten. The a-side made it to the Bloodstains Across The World compilation and another one on Rock'N'Rennes (1981). In 2015 the French label Poch Records released a record with thirteen lost nuggets in an edition of 300 copies. I guess the band has split up shortly after appearing the single. Solid stuff the weekend can start.

V/A - Bloodstains Across Belgium #3 1998

Last blood across Belgium with more essential punkrock blasts from the early days and this small country had a lot of good bands ready. I guess writing more about this record is superfluous like a stone in the shoe.
