V/A - The Dark Days Are Over (13 Weeks Later) 2025

Welcome to another indispensable release on WDM Records, and number 017 is a small follow-up to the last Compilation I posted thirteen weeks ago. Both can be considered as a whole. That's of course due to the experience I've had, and I know that the person concerned will never listen to this music, but I had a little hope for change and didn't want to accept this situation. After all, I thought there was some feeling involved, but now I know for better, the file is closed I can say. I thought so too, but I like to give a second chance and I think it's only fair, but when you realize there's really nothing there, just only self-interest, selfishness, and zero emotions, I have no other choice to let this person go who was truly important to me, and that hurts like fucking hell. Well, dear friends, it's not a pleasant experience, but it's partly a slice of life, like buying bread from the baker. I hope this selection reflects the inner turmoil I've gone through, and if anyone now in this trouble or has currently experiencing something similar will find comfort & strength in this fucker, hope it helps you and conveys to you that YOU are valuable and you shouldn't let yourself be beaten down or taken advantage of, and that you will do better next time, recognize the signs, and listen to your instincts. Personally, I have to say it's one of the best Comps I've ever made, and it accompanies me while cooking, cleaning, or posting. Every song is a nail in the coffin and a cry for help. And an accusation, and if that whore ever hears this, think about your life and stop screwing over the people who like you. So, now it's out and finished. To all my dear listeners, I wish you positive thoughts while listening to this short emotional musical roller coaster.

PANIKRAUM - Demo 2016

Bands from Mönchengladbach are always worth listening to, and since I only know a few of them and they're all great, I can say that. Panikraum is one of them, a four piece formed around mid-2015 and featuring members of die Strafe and EA80. It's an interesting collaboration, and if you like both, you can't help listen. Five songs between heaven and hell, energetically driving, but with a large portion of despair, themes such as lost love, disappointment, struggle and always getting up and carry on, no matter how shitty the situation is and how emotional the rollercoaster ride is, are in the foreground and hit you right in the core (and of course in your fucking heart, provided you have one). A good eight years ago, they were guests at the Waggon in Offenbach (listen), and it was a magical evening, as always at this location. It's about time I went there again. And now full attention for Panikraum!

V/A - Happy Birthday, You Sweet Liar! 2025

I guess every one of you, dear followers, has experienced this. You think you know someone well, a lover, a friend, or some other confidant, and then one day everything changes. You are lied to for no reason by this person. And you clearly know it's a lie. Of course, this hurts immensely, and you ask yourself what the reason was? Self-protection, fear of consequences/conflicts, or social conformity/reputation in society? Or do people lie to get rid of someone, to throw away baggage... I don't know. In any case, you are left with ambivalence and have to make a decision whether you want to tolerate this person in your environment any longer or not even look at them again. They always say everyone deserves a second chance, but if you feel like you're being treated disrespectfully and the other person doesn't care at all, well, I'm for a cut, and a breakup is the logical consequence. There are certainly many views, thoughts, and opinions on this, so I came up with the idea of channeling my anger and dismay into music, and this Compilation is meant to help, or at least for the time being. Of course, you can always fall flat on your face, nothing is guaranteed, but when you're 100% being screwed, there's only one option left and I'm tired of crying after such ignorant people. Especially when they say of themselves, "I hate liars". - You see, they have no self-respect, they deceiving their selfs. Anyway, I'll think twice about who I'll give the next bouquet of roses.
Take Care!

EA80 - 40 CD 2019

On the occasion of EA80’s 40th anniversary, this pretty, simple, homemade Compilation was released with rehearsal room recordings of seventeen Nuggets from the entire forty years, recorded exclusively for this bloody sucker. First sold for € 5-, at a gig in Recklinghausen, where the band announced that they would make copies for future shows and even mail orders upon request. Was bleibt? Vierzig offers a comprehensive overview of EA80’s musical creation and is interesting for everybody who doesn't drink non-alcoholic beer and still remains clear-headed. The Four are known for their melancholic and often dark sound and the songs are characterized by deep, often poetic lyrics and an intense atmosphere. The words often deal with personal and social themes, including isolation, alienation, loss and criticism of social ills. EA80 is known for their "Do It Yourself" mentality and made all independently of majors and take care of the production and distribution of their albums themselves. Over the years they have developed a cult status in the German underground. Despite their long existence and extensive discography, they remain a relatively unknown quantity in the mainstream, and that is excellent. Their live performances are also intense and energetic and usually take place in smaller, intimate venues, which creates a close connection with the audience. It may be that I'm always repeating myself when I post the Gladbacher, but that's just the way it is and I haven't heard a single shitty record from them. Sure, the old stuff is always my thing and I play it often, but it's always a highlight to unpack an EA80 record. Enjoy the little journey through time and play it loud!

V/A - Keine Experimente! Vol. II 1984

It's time to relive the old days and the following Kompilation brings only positive memories back and it feels incredibly good to put this fucker out of sleep. This superb record from Weird System is an album that has caused a stir, especially in the German underground scene. This collection offers a more personal mix of relevant artists and is an absolute highlight. Just as the predecessor was a huge hit with more political stuff by essential German Punk bands, the second part is a perfect continuation and ensures a varied entertaining listening experience. Most of the beautys are only immortalized on this record and are real timeless classics that are now indispensable. Forty years have passed since then and I can look back and remember exactly how I felt at this time and how wonderful and carefree my life was, with less responsibility, fewer health issues, just living without thinking too much. And time wasn't important, now everything has become a little complicated and things have changed, not everything for the better, well, what can I say, I hate to repeat myself but getting old sucks. Overall, Keine Experimente! Vol.II is an exciting discovery that is recommended for old rockers and all newcomers who are interested in really good sounds. German craftsmanship!

EA80 - Schweinegott 1998

One of the longest running Punk bands in the German underground world and "with their eighth album, the guys have proven that EA80 is far from out of breath. The band has managed to produce twelve varied songs in a very innovative way, some of which leave well-trodden paths. Sometimes dark and melancholic, sometimes noisy and dissonant, the band furiously fires their entire complex sound spectrum into the ether." Comes on request and normally I don't start an EA80 record with a review, but here I like to because I agree. The sound is more dirtier and more aggressive, not untypical I'd like to say because they're a Punk band and the Four are able to write such pleasant crackers, and the production is similar to Grüner Apfel but a bit more powerful and energetic, that kicks and shoots the band into the new century, I'd like to mean. Driving and manic hymns meet twelve soulful and dynamic ass kickers like no other band in this country can do, unique and uncopyable. They underline impressively why they rightly have an absolutely exceptional status in our music scene, a real obstacle for everyone who doesn't understand the lyrics but if you really want to, you can translate their words and you see what's going on. Sometimes disturbing, but a real exceptional band and not without reason their gigs are always full & attractive. I've seen many and I hope there will be coming more.

Enough words, enjoy every song/sound and discover EA80 for yourself, it will be a pleasant journey like a holiday in Crete! Εβίβα!

V/A - Es Gibt Ein Leben Vor Dem Tod 1991

A record I ripped many years ago is this Benefit Compilation for "Rom e.V.", "Ausbildungswerkstatt in Managua" & "Angehörigenkonto" and the slab came with a sixteen-page booklet, which I didn't scan and to be honest, I'm not enthusiastic about the music. I was only interested in one song and that's why I buy the thing, the rest is alternative stuff which doesn't knock me off my chair, a reason to sell the record quickly and I haven't listened to it for a long time either. Some even offer them for horrendous prices, but convince yourself whether the record is worth these amounts. Certainly an important release and good to finance such benefit things with compis and it's nice that there are mostly new and unknown bands among them, that  combines the useful with the useful. Well, I'm sure there is something for almost everyone, except Hardcore fans will probably stay away from it, it's your turn.

EA80 - Vorsicht Schreie 1983

It's really a fucking shame, but this record isn't on the blog and I thought it was already in the game, but you my friends took notice and so I follow another request and open May with this forty year old milestone: the debut by EA80Equipped with countless hits and some of are still played live today (except 'Heinrich'), it was also the start of a wonderful musical journey that has now lasted for four decades. I still remember when I heard EA80 for the first time many, many years ago: bandname top, cover top, music top, lyrics top and everything in proven D.I.Y. manner cobbled together, and nothing has changed to this day. I'm sure you know the feeling of arriving, be it in the garden or by the sea, and you breathe freely and carefree, that's exactly how I feel when I listen to their music, addicted, epic, neatly paced and as moody as hell. The band stays independent and doesn't give a fuck about commerce and that's one more reason, why I like them. Eighteen classics that I can sing by heart and highlights like 'Korn', 'Häuser' or 'Kühlschrank' just make you sit there with mouth open and marvel, this album has an amazingly long lasting effect, lots of energy and strong convictions. Vorsicht Schreie came in different versions among the people, my copy is the fourth edition with yellow labels which has an insert and to my knowledge 500 copies or so were pressed. Excellent!!

DIE BÖSE HAND - Blumen 7'' 1993

Now to a band where I didn't have to think long and hard about whether I should buy their records or not, NO!... that was compulsory and couldn't go wrong. We're talking about Die Böse Hand and this three piece was a side project featuring the voice of EA80 Junge, drummer Ulf and the voice/guitar of Martin, both from the Boxhamsters. Both singers also play guitar/bass on the recordings. The band seems to exist only temporarily again from time to time and five 7Inches were released from 1990 to 1996 and mostly cover versions of world hits were recorded in their own style. 'Blumen' is their third single and it's the short version of the awesome Ranola track (a fucking must listen if you don't know this slab) and it's a single-sided record, the B-sides are featuring hand drawn designs that are unique to each copy like little flowers or even season greetings ("Christmas 2003"). Limited copies were painted by the mother of band member Co. All songs were released on one CD via Bad Moon/Musikzimmer in 2004 and I haven't forgotten, this one will follow.

DIE AUTOS - Niemals! 7'' 1983

December also kicks off with a rare 7inch, and also based in Mönchengladbach are Die Autos, a duo consisting of Lloyd & Junge, and their only creative outpouring came out on the small Park Platten label (200 copies in green vinyl)which also threw the fantastic Pesthauch Des Dschungels compilation. My copy is the re-release on KillerReleaseRecords from 2001, this edition came handnumbered of 1000 copies, yellow vinyl and in sturdy fold-out poster sleeveThe special thing about side projects is that the actors let off steam musically and exploit other musical resources that sometimes lead to extremes and are far from what you are used to. Weird and experimental but also different and catchy. The two goodies from the Autos impress with their wavie rhythm that floats in a solid mid-tempo and provided with meaningful lyrics, and I would almost say, the record sounds like an early EA80 demo. Well, what am I supposed to keep talking? Anyone who appreciates the Gladbach sound will grab it without hesitation, everyone else should definitely do the same. Note: 'Slaughter' from the flip was 1991 re-recorded for the first Böse Hand EP (coming soon). Now enjoy the first delicacy of the Advent Calendar!

EA80 - 20 EP 1989

I say goodbye to the ugliest month of the year with a rarity from my favorite band: EA80. From this little sunshine were 200 copies made for the Birthday of a friend of the band and was then served as a ticket to the Party on 23.December 1989 and was never sold regularly; there are three different artworks, all copies are numbered. 'Twenty' is a typical provocative song that hardly any other combo can write: ass kicking, self-reflective, uncompromising and clear. 'Coming Down' is a tender thoughtful Christmas carol for everyone who didn't stay at home (or don't want to stay at home these days) and 'Dilettanten' was recorded live in the rehearsal room in the distant past (1983?) and is dedicated to all those who have no solution for everything and thus continue to make things worse, Hauptsache es macht Spaß! Innovative and pithy as ever and enjoyable at any time.

COCKTAILBAR STAMMHEIM - s/t LP 2011

An interesting duo called Cocktailbar Stammheim comes from Düsseldorf and the band consists of Christian (vocals/guitars) and Alex (vocals/guitars/drums) and they make amazing music, and besides Klotzs, they're the only duo I know, and that alone is remarkable. This record is their debut and was released in an edition of 500 copies, plus 100 (different artwork) for P.Trash Club members only! Songs between the beauty of failure with an angry smile, anecdotes about the stupid society, and personal views of the global threat, all wrapped up in a scratchy catchy sound how I love, definitely not a summer record. Label info: "These two trashcan-shakers were already spilling their rot-gut Punkrock as Bud White on the Killed By Trash Vol.2 compilation and now decided to open up the Cocktailbar Stammheim for everybody who doesn’t want to sip that fancy-schmancy hipster sound through a narrow-minded straw anymore. These fourteen songs are as honest as Asbach and Cola with which you flush down the ugliness of a sheeple society drinking Wodka & RedBull and running for another season of Big Brother on fucking TV. Two guitars, two feet stomping on the drums and the love for the Wipers are the base for the Bar in which these fine German songs are shaken and stirred in the best Kommando Blumen Am Angeschissen Arsch Von Oma Hans way, refined with a little shot of EA80 and a dirty dash of Superhelicopter and served with a crying angry face. Though this may probably seem to be an untypical release for the P. Trash catalog, but this record has heart and soul and every swig of it runs ardently down our dusty throats, and that’s the way we like it!" - Me too Peter (R.I.P.)

EA80 - @ JUZ Perla Palast/Raunheim 25.04.1987

Ich mache es kurz: Junge (vocals/guitar), Hals Maul (guitars), Nick (bass) & Nico (drums), better known as EA80, with a fantastic live performance captured on tape. Almost thirty-five years ago were these recordings made and are still worth listening. Energetic, funny and absolutely entertaining. I didn't go to the gig at the time because I had already seen their concert at the JUZ-Bockenheim, at least I think it was in the same year, but I could be wrong. However, a visit to the Mönchengladbachers is, and will always be worthwhile. The song selection is as well, even with one non-album track. The surprises contained in a performance by the four are unique and I only know a few bands that can keep up.
Get in and enjoy the evening!

... BUT ALIVE - Für Uns Nicht 1993

Welcome 2022 and the first post belongs to a band that I appreciate very much and whose music is one of the best of the nineties and thus gave an important part of the lame movement of that time new input. Krawehl, Krawehl was their first demo from 1991 (connoisseurs know immediately who gave this words), and it soon attracted the interest of the Hamburg label Weird System, which finally signed the band. - The quartet But Alive was one of the most influential German punk bands until 1999 and were, alongside Wizo, Boxhamsters and Dackelblut, at the forefront of German punk movement for four records and seven years. Actually started as a small fun band, the political claim developed more and more as a permanent trademark of the group. Spurred on by German formations such as EA80 and, above all, Slime, But Alive quickly became one of the biggest mouthpieces of the intellectual punk scene. Because of their left-radical and highly political lyrics, ...But Alive should not be equated with the blunt slogans of the "Mob & Gesocks" punks. Their message is hidden in demanding lyrics, which often wrong interpreted (also from punks itself). After a few bass players, there is finally the line-up around Marcus (vocals/guitars), Hagen (guitars), Torben (bass), Frank (drums). They made four very good albums, of which more will appear soon in this theatre. Für Uns Nicht is a great debut, arranged sharply and fluently and with lyrics that get to the point, they spoke out what is wrong in this world and that fourteen times. The first 500 copies in blue vinyl, my copy. Enough useless words, nobody cares anyway, enjoy the music and look forward to an interesting new music year.

V/A - Skloom Al Komul! 2021

Well, as you can see, my old schoolmate Teddy is more than happy with his new girlfriend and he asked me to put some of his favorite songs together and share them with you. Of course, I would like to comply his request, even if I hardly find time and my computer soon crackes off, I have taken the trouble to create the following compilation from the extensive repertoire of his hard drive and now finally present it as the ninth release on WDM RecordsHe chose a healthy mix of old and new classics and I am very satisfied with his selection. I'm responsible for the artwork, which I think is excellent, and all this together makes this little musical composition another highlight on this damn uninteresting Blog. Wherever you are now, enjoy the days off, make the most of it and always remember, You're Not Alone!

VERBRANNTE ERDE - Chrrr!!! 1998

Out of the ruins of the D-Punk combo Deutschlands Erben formed Ingo (vocals), Mischa (guitars), Eddi (bass), Jens (drums) in 1995 Verbrannte Erde and the four move in the dark, melancholic punkrock area which became typical of the band. Their style can best be compared with that of L.S.K., Serene Fall and EA80, with whom the band has played numerous gigs. In 1996 the first tape, Traurig Aber Wahr, was released, followed by their first EP a year later and up to date, they released four Longplayers, two EPs plus a live split album. As already mentioned, the four prefer largely dark minor sounds with personal & thoughtful words that I like very much and partly reflect my inner being, but why I only have this one album is quickly explained. The singing bothers me a little and doesn't captivate me as much as with the other bands. And for me, the voice has to fit just as well as the music, I'm demanding in all things. For the first album, very good and enjoyable!

EA80 - Grüner Apfel 1995

Seventh album by the most important & best German Punk band from M'gladbach: EA80Published as a double 10Inch with four varied sides that once again illustrate the diversity and creativity of the band's songwriting. The musical orgasm begins with five fast, loud pieces that express the anger and desperation of the four, played fascinatingly and very contagious. Followed by the typical long melancholy songs for that I love the band, peppered with spicy words and excellent moll melodies. At the end, a colossal fifteen minute symphony that makes clear to you that everything is fleeting and nothing lasts forever. "EA80 remain untouched by everything that happens in modern punk rock and do what they have always done. The result is the radical incorruptibility of one's own aesthetic universe, which is completely beyond the influence of the wrong and the stupid." Grüner Apfel is a dark monumental masterpiece and fits seamlessly into the band's biography as another jewel.

DIRE STRAITS - Live @ the BBC 22.07.1978

New week and I'll start with something completely different, that means no punk rock but just as brilliant and when we talk about solid rock with corresponding soft elements, I can't get past this band and these guys fascinate me with their melodic and playfully impressive music, like the Wipers or EA80Live @ the BBC is a live album by the Dire Straits which was released in 1995 but the songs were recorded on 22.07.1978 at BBC Studios in London and involved were Mark (vocals/guitars), David & Hal (guitars), John (bass), Pick (drums), Alan (keys), with one track recorded on 31.January 1981 for the BBC TV program The Old Grey Whistle TestThe album features one unreleased song, "What's The Matter Baby?", co-written by Mark and his brother David. The riffs and general structure of that song were largely recycled for the song "Lady Writer" from the band's second album Communiqué, which may explain why it was never re-recorded in the studio. Check out their '82 album Love Over Gold which is also superb.

TURBOSTAAT - Live @ Clouds Hill 10'' 2014

Always welcome in my theater and a band I appreciate very much and enjoy is Turbostaat from Husum, now located in Flensburg. The five came up with the splendid idea for their fifteen-year existence to organize a tour under the motto: "fifteen years, two evenings, sixty-three songs", quasi birthday tour. On two evenings in a row, they play all sixty-three songs that have been released on record so far. On the first evening the songs from the first two and a half albums, on the second evening the songs from the following two albums... This slendid  10Inch with eight songs was recorded live on 21.09.2013 @ Clouds Hill Recordings in Hamburg and only available for ticket owners to the band's 15th anniversary tour. All of these copies are signed by the band. After the tour the band sold a few unsigned leftover copies through their homebase. Limited to 4000 pieces. In my concert life I only had such a brilliant experience with EA80, but then I had to drive from one place to the next and here it was the same location on both evenings. I was completely exhausted after the first show and by the second evening, a Sunday, I really had to pull myself together but it was worth. Great and unforgettable moments/memories, I am very grateful for that! Now enjoy the record and notice: Turbostaat are and will remain Jan (vocals), Roland & Marten (guitars), Torbert (bass), Peter (drums).

EA80 - Schauspiele 1992

Last post today before I say goodbye for ten days on a well-deserved vacation. Schauspiele is the sixth album by EA80 with Oddel for the first time as new bass player. The album is full of classics that they always love to play live, especially the first track is a great opener for example. Long dark songs mix with fast aggressive pieces, plus again great lyrics which are deep and, as always, critical, unique, introspectively and the whole misery of human existence on a small and large scale describe, demonstrate the clear attitude of the four. The recordings are harder and more punk compared to 202, sometimes I find the drums & bass drum a little too quiet, but even this small deficit becomes irrelevant when the song is on, no wonder by the twelve quick-witted hymns of the very first quality. I can only recommend you to buy this record, the original is long been sold out, but Major Label from Jena was allowed to produce a re-release in 2015 (plus other EA80 records) and that's a good thing. Another milestone of by far the best and most innovative band in this country.... A Fucking Must Have!!! Maybe one sentence to previous posts, sure some are down, but write for re-ups in the comment-section and I'll fix it as soon as I'm back.
