WIZO - Bleib Tapfer 1992

If you're into German punk culture in the 90's, maybe by the name Wizo (to pronounce Veezo) will ring a bell. Accounts of the inception of the punk rock band Wizo differ, even among the band members themselves. While Jochen traces the band's roots back to 1981, Axel claims that the band started in 1985, when the band made their first demo recordings. In 1986, the band from Sindelfingen, Germany changed their name from "Wieso" ("Why?") to "Wizo". What did not change was their steadfast commitment to their punk origins. True to their style, they more or less shunned the establishment and largely did what they want. To remain independent from commercial influence, they founded and published under their own label Hulk Räckorz. This second example is strong & tough right from the start, very fast melodic songs, wicked and humorous and it’s more than twenty years old and what I would call: a solid punk record! After a short creative break, they've been since 2009 present again and still hard-working and funny, as if they had never been away. Keineswegs Für'n Arsch und tapfer bleiben Freunde!

WIZO - Für'n Arsch 1991

Wizo is a punk rock band from Sindelfingen, Germany. The band was formed in 1985. Their messages run from political to humorous, and they are strongly opposed to nazism, racism and "all of that crap". They split up in March 2005 and reunited in November 2009. In 1991 the first album "Für'n Arsch" (familiar for "To No Avail", lit. for "for the ass") was released on Hulk Räckorz and it has been censored later because the prosecutor had a problem with the song 'Kein Gerede', it was too offense. Hmm, I think it's nothing wrong with that but who can see in the small brains of the official assholes. Wizo sung in german & english and this is a brilliant debut punk album and long sold out... here's your last chance.

...BUT ALIVE - Für Uns Nicht 1993

Welcome 2022 and the first post belongs to a band that I appreciate very much and whose music is one of the best of the nineties and thus gave an important part of the lame movement of that time new input. Krawehl, Krawehl was their first demo from 1991 (connoisseurs know immediately who gave this words), and it soon attracted the interest of the Hamburg label Weird System, which finally signed the band. - The quartet But Alive was one of the most influential German punk bands until 1999 and were, alongside Wizo, Boxhamsters and Dackelblut, at the forefront of German punk movement for four records and seven years. Actually started as a small fun band, the political claim developed more and more as a permanent trademark of the group. Spurred on by German formations such as EA80 and, above all, Slime, But Alive quickly became one of the biggest mouthpieces of the intellectual punk scene. Because of their left-radical and highly political lyrics, ...But Alive should not be equated with the blunt slogans of the "Mob & Gesocks" punks. Their message is hidden in demanding lyrics, which often wrong interpreted (also from punks itself). After a few bass players, there is finally the line-up around Marcus (vocals/guitars), Hagen (guitars), Torben (bass), Frank (drums). They made four very good albums, of which more will appear soon in this theatre. Für Uns Nicht is a great debut, arranged sharply and fluently and with lyrics that get to the point, they spoke out what is wrong in this world and that fourteen times. The first 500 copies in blue vinyl, my copy. Enough useless words, nobody cares anyway, enjoy the music and look forward to an interesting new music year.

V/A - Bring Back The Vinyl 1994

A very good overview about the Sindelfingen/Böblingen (south germany) punk scene gave this little compilation with the wonderful album title. Published in 1994 by Bellaforte Records in bright turquoise vinyl and offers fifteen punk-rock-metal-hardcore songs of bands who were mostly unknown, which made here & there one or two demos and then disappeared again in whole wide punk universum. Pure underground stuff! The song selection here shows a lot of beer & spirits participated in the recordings and with nearly fifty-three minutes (famous for vinyl) and a thirty-two paged booklet inside makes this record absolutely worth buying/hearing. So here is something for everyone. Getting to know!
