INFERNO - The Son Of God EP 1985

This first 7Inch by Inferno was first released only in the USA because the four were very popular (read this review: "fast, ferocious, and fun in the Inferno tradition. These German maniacs tear it up and spit it out in a furious thrash slaughter. Crazed guitar bitings with forceful vocals make this another unique platter." (Pushead, MRR #28 • September 1985) there with their aggressive Hardcore/Punk and the crowd needed food. This is the second pressing on Campary Records (1989) with a different cover and two songs from it appeared on the refreshing Compilation What Doesn't Hurt Us Makes Us Stronger from the Berlin based label Destiny Records and as far as I know the third track can be only found on this sucker but I could be wrongThe lyrics are all fantastic, clear and unambiguous, and anyone with sense and clarity in their hearts can only agree with this, to that their excellent sound makes clear why the band were so loved overseas, and that's saying something. Inferno is always a good choice to push your troubles far far away. Splendid!

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World #7 2022

Well it's time for one more Bloodstains Compilation and this one is cheap like the other "from all over the world" (from #3) and kept in a simple CD-R format, but I'm pleased that there are always maniacs who share their things, in contrast to other arrogant Assholes who defame such small people even though they don't know them at all and believe that they contribute a part of underground culture with their so-called professional Compilations (hahaha...), they just have to get their ass kicked and I give them a big Fuck You! I prefer to take these because the originals aren't tangible and I am grateful for this and everyone who thinks the same way will be enthusiastic with this cheap but cool one.

V/A - Spit On Your Grave! Vol.1 2004

Looking pretty professional at first glance, but Buried Alive Recordings is the name of a bootleg label from Spain and they have released two CD's with rare American KBD stuff from 7Inches 1978-1983, included some rare tracks and others which always used for such CompilationsSparsely held to infos, only the most necessary, release year, covers and nothing more (b.t.w. dizzy cover 😵). All in all, I think it's a successful selection and absolutely worth listening to, and it's not expensive to buy either. With that, another chapter weekend is heralded and volume 2 follows if you live well-behaved and uninhibitedSo come on, you Maniacs!

MANIACS - Chelsea 77 7'' 1977

Nothing new but damn cool and I'm stealing a bit basics from discogs: "Alan Lee Shaw (guitar, vocals) and Rod Latter (drums) came at the end of 1976 from Cambridge to London and founded alongside John "Twink" Alder and Dennis Stow (bass) the group the Rings. Following a few live gigs and one 7Inch "I Wanna Be Free" the group parted ways. Alan and Rod found via an add in Melody Maker the new bass player Robert Crash and the Manicas were found. The first concert was in France (Mont De Marsan Punk Festival) with The Clash, The Damned, and The Police on the same bill. In September 1977 the band recorded five songs, two of them made it to be released as the "Chelsea '77/Ain’t No Legend" 7Inch. In January 1978 the band split. The Maniacs were one of 1977’s original first flush Punk Rock bands in London signing to United Artist Records." Immortalized on numerous compilations and always welcome, not ordinary for a short-lived band.

VOÏVOD - Killing Technology 1987

The time for cuddling is over and I'm stepping up four gears and treating you to some loud & brutal noises on this fucking Monday!! And it's not just Speed/Thrash Metal maniacs who get their money's worth. Killing Technology is the third album by Canada's four piece Voïvod, released again via Karl Walterbach's label Noise Records and it is clearly more "melody" in the seven songs. Info: After the release of the previous album Rrröööaaarrr, the tour to the album followed, which should end in Berlin to record the next studio album. Because of this, guitarist Piggy wrote the album's songs before the start of this tour. Harris Johns' work with Einstürzende Neubauten had sparked an interest in industrial music among Voïvod's musicians. During recording and mixing, bassist Blacky brought his ideas to Piggy's composed tracks. For the first time, the texts formed an overall concept for the further development of the band's character, which is about a journey through the Voïvod with a spaceship. The Voïvod stands for the inability of mankind to control the increasing mechanization of the world. Killing Technology represents an advancement of the bands skills on their instruments as well as in stylistic direction. I say this record is one of the band's best albums and when I ripped the slab, I started Pogo around my apartment like I'm at a concert, ecstatic and carefree, and this music push me away from all the daily shit that's always present.

Believe me, if you want to clear your head or have emotional differences, put this music on and you're alive for a brief moment and you know what really matters!

DECLINO - Terra Bruciata 2LP 2017

I thought, I had already posted something from this great band, but even after checking it three times, I didn't find anything except a few compilationsWell, it's time to change that today, and the best way I can do that with a fucking great release by F.O.A.D. Records. We're talking about Declino, a four piece based in Turin, active between 1982 and 1985, and they were one of the most influential Hardcore/Punk bands in Italy. Members were Sandro (vocals), "Mungo V.R." Bertotti (guitars), Max Occhiena (guitars on A1 to A9), Silvio (bass), Orlando (drums on A1 to A6), Roberto (drums). They were featured in early MRR reports on the Italian Punk/HC scene and were also featured on the essential P.E.A.C.E. double LP compilation on Radical Records! Their style was a very energetic clash of speed, rage & creative songwriting. They were definitely the first in their area to develop a mature style that leaned more towards the intensity of full-on Hardcore than the rawness of Punk.

So this essentiell Anthology (limited to 550 copies on black, 150 copies on ultra clear vinyl) includes all their existing studio recordings, consisting of: the debut EP (1983), Mucchio Selvaggio split tape/LP with Negazione (1984), three unreleased tracks (1984), Eresia 12″ (1985) and a complete soundboard live recording (Denmark 1985) never released before in its entirety. I know all you maniacs of angry and raw energy will love this double album, and all you others as well.

V/A - Punk Rock Rarities Vol.2 1996

And immediately the second and final part of the Punkrock Rarities by Anagram and the spirit of this CD is the same as the previous one. It brings us again closer to rare 7inches by lesser known or short lived bands from the British Isles, and giving them the respect they deserve. Together with Vol.1 they form an absolute glimpse of what was happening on the fringes of the big bands and the scene was anything but tired. Music that does its deserved rounds and is a perfect introduction to the UK subculture for all newcomers and dirty old freaks like me. Enjoy!

THE LEFT - Jesus Loves The Left 2006

Now awesome stuff from the Left, a four piece from Hagerstown/Maryland, founded in the early Eighties by Brian (vocals), JD (guitars), Kevin (bass), Bill (drums) and they didn't get much attention during their active time and this is a fucking shame because they are in every way brilliant, musically as well as lyrically, absolutely amazing and I see myself in their songs (Hell, 5 AM, Fuck It...), and I don't know why they didn't get the attention they deserve. The Left formed to flip the bird at the tedium of their hometown, and on the band's two mid-'80s EPs, It's The World and Last Train To Hagerstown (both on Bona Fide), the band did more than that, fusing together '60s, '70s, & '80s Punk with alchemical skill and black humor. Jesus Loves The Left (compiles the two EPs and other unreleased tracks) is a loving repository for the band's short history. It kicks off with the opening chords of Hell the best song on It's The World 12" (and one of the BEST songs of the past thirty years), crashing through your speakers when you press play. Brian Sefsic's sneer meshes perfectly with guitarist Jim', keening chords: "There's A Place/That They Call Hell/Where They Don't Treat You all that well." The slab rarely falters after that, tracks from a 1992 reunion sound nearly as strong and sarcastic as those from the band's prime.

But you'd be forgiven if you end up lingering on the first eight It's The World tracks. On 'Attitudes', a song that sums up all that is good about life and the Left, Sefsic sings with both Iggy-esque detachment and real wistfulness: "And thank you, God, for putting me on this earth/and all the wonderful, beautiful things you've given me." Then he adds, "Let's name a few," and Swope launches into a raw and sophisticated solo that takes the song in a completely unexpected direction. And I think to myself: What A Wonderful World!

So Jesus is a big fan of their music and you damned Christians can't be wrong, he signed it in his own blood, yeah yeah yeah.... and Bona Fide Records released this fantastic cross for all us maniacs and it's an essential document from a band who wrote superb songs that express a large part of my life and will never be forgotten. Must Have!

OLHO SECO - Os Primeiros Dias EP 1988

One is still going today, freshly ripped and now on the table: we enjoy Brazil's greatest Hardcore band and they have 100% to smash your shack: Olho Seco, and they played rough and fuzzy music somehow retained a melodic undercurrent, making their songs instantly ingrained in the old medula for all time and the interesting thing about their music is the totally distorted recordings and I always think about it, do they use a guitar? Their songs sound like a harvester or a forest worker, so I'm really blown away every time when I listen to this fucking noises. Sure is, this is a perfecrt record for all raw Hardcore maniacs worldwide and you certainly like bands such as Ratos De Porão or Lixomania. Olho Seco were from São Paulo, formed in 1980 and on this record were involved Fabio (vocals), Redson (guitars), Val (bass), Sartana (drums) and this blast was released via New Face Records. The raw and direct sound typical of Punk bands became heavier and faster in Olho Seco's interpretation, which helped the band win respect and influence new generations of Punks. After their compilation tracks they put out the split album Botas, Fuzis, Capacetes (available today at inflated prices) with Brigada Do Ódio, this split was very well received and resulted in the band being invited to participate in many international compilations such as Welcome To 1984, released by Maximum Rock'N'Roll. After that, Olho Seco released several albums on their own and many tributes to this band have been produced, the most important being the Tributo A Olho Seco compilation, which included the greatest Punk/HC bands in Brazil, as well as Força Macabra (from Finland) and Cripple Bastards (from Italy). At the end of the day, Olho Seco continues to be faithful to the style which they made famous: fast & agressive Punkrock.

AOOUH! - The Lost Tape EP 2016

Rare stuff by this Swedish combo from Stockholm and Aoouh! never made anything on vinyl, memberes were Mats (vocals), Hans & Stellan (guitars), Björne (bass), Mikael (drums) and this goodie came in 250 handnumbered copies via the Spanish Ghost Highway Recordings label. Side A was recorded on 13.12.1978 at Polyvox Studios/Stockholm, Side B recorded live 04.05.2013 at the BFH. This record was a "Fuck Cancer" release and the money of the selling of this slab will go to the cancer research and was made in memory of Stellan who died of cancer in 2012. Not much is known about the band and the internet does not provide any information either, but musically they are in the top league and are certainly one of those who, probably due to tragic circumstances, did not manage to raise any money to record a 7Inch, or they were a short-lived momentum, who knows. So it's even better that the few songs they recorded have been dug up and pressed onto a small piece of vinyl for us KBD maniacs, to enjoy. Nice record in every way!

BEYOND POSSESSION - Tell Tale Heart EP 1985

I put the metal label here, although the band started out as solid Hardcore/Punk maniacs and I also had their first full length from 1986, but had to give way due to financial resentments (really annoyed me) and now rediscovered and before the SGE hopefully get three points against Bochum today, here & now their first EP with six smashin' cocktails on Rooter Records and I coerce you with littles info from somewhere: Beyond Possession is a band of conviction, and its members refuse to have their names published. Their leader fears it would detract from the group’s identity. The group’s name is taken by man to imply an association with Satan and the demonic hype with which heavy-metal bands often flirt. Not so, say the members of Beyond Possession: rather, they claim they are beyond being possessed by ego and material goods. An American and a Soviet flag hang in the band’s house. “We don’t lick anyone’s boots,” says one. A skateboarding tune they wrote and recorded has been distributed on a Skaterock album. Band members say they oppose both the NeoNazi sentiments of Punk and the blatant commercialism of heavy metal; their music is a hard-core-punk-&-heavy-metal fusion, a compromise that can be appreciated by both the thrashers and the headbangers.

Their nameless and energetic leader works hard to keep alternative music alive in community halls around town. They’ve got day jobs and sink all their money back into the band. They travel. They just got back from an 18-state tour on which they peddled a few home-spun records and made a few waves. Insulted by a condescending announcer on a San Francisco radio show, the DJ had had the audacity to ask inane questions about Canadian weather, the band was forced to fill the mike with rude noises. Beyond Possession confide that “he didn’t ask us about our music.” So dear folks, just a quick fuck and then let's go!

V/A - The Master Tape Vol.2 2xLP 1983

I hope you're not fed up with awesome stuff from the Eighties because I can present now a rare, fantastic, famous, splendid and delicate double album and this is only possible because the network of maniacs works brilliantly. This damn cool monster compilation on Affirmation is the final & second Master Tape after the awesome Volume 1 from 1982 and it's again full with exclusive songs/bands (mostly from the midwestern US) who show solid potential, wrote catchy tunes and almost released little further material, surely no surprise by the competition in this country, but that's why compilations are devised, they too can gather a small fan base around them and get and deserve attention in other regions/countries. Forty-three examples have been captured on vinyl, of which "End Result" doesn't really fit on these records, at least not with meBut as always, it's a matter of taste and, as always, who fucking care. Open a beer and get high on these hot goodies as I do.

SAMIAM - s/t LP 1990

Next band is also one of my favorites and was formed 1988 in sunny Berkeley, California. Two years later followed the fantastic self-titled debut which was recorded by Jason (vocals), Sergie & James (guitars), Marty (bass), Mark (drums) and released on New Red Archives on colored vinyl and is one of the most influential, melodic hardcore records ever. Always helpful when other maniacs find words that I cannot reproduce better, so here is a short review which I like to quote: "Compared to the pop and polish of its later releases, Samiam is barely recognizable on its self-titled debut. The sound is raw and angry, highly influenced by hardcore. But Jason's lyrics, though more cryptic than his later works, distinctly place Samiam in the realm of emocore. Instead of making broad political statements, like the early-'80s hardcore bands, he turned inward, while the music stayed fast and furious. A sample line from The Bridge: ''My bridge is too unstable, the insecurity is letting go.'' (Ron DePasquale)

Well, as far as I know, they're still active, even if the last album is over ten years ago, but Samiam is always welcome und especially their first albums are great stuff. Now it's time for a hearty breakfast, Cheers!

VAMPA - Plugget EP 1982

Weekend and something special now from the Wanted-List and a joy for all Heavy Metal maniacs. Ultra rare Swedish D.I.Y. nugget from 1982 by Vampa from Stockholm and allow me to give you a little bit of infos about them from the re-release: They were just kids, thirteen-fourteen years old when they recorded and released their raw and very Iron Maidenesque piece of vinyl over forty years ago. The band were Robert & Ola (vocals/guitars), Robert (bass), Per (drums) and they made this all by themselves. The lyrics (sung in Swedish) is the ultimate hate for school-anthem. The boredom and frustration of (barely) teenage kids totally sick of school and its teachers has rarely been captured in a better and more enjoyable way. Even though the lyrics are in Swedish the language that grabs the listener as the needle is dropped into the groove is universal. The original EP is near impossible to find. On The Dole Records found the members and re-released this goodie in a limited edition of 500 copies in orange vinyl with new artwork by Swedish artist Oscar Nordblom, Filed under: ”beyond essential to any serious Rock’N’Roll fan”. Always nice to encounter such lost treasures, tack så mycket! 😗

ACCÜSED - More Fun Than An Open Casket Funeral 1987

Back in 1987, Seattle crossover/hardcore ragers the Accüsed put out their second album via Combat and on this brilliant record were Blaine (vocals), Tommy (guitars), Alex (bass), Dana (drums) involved and they created a form of sound called "Splatter-Rock" which was screaming, speeding punk/metal. Led by their knife-wielding, justice-avenging mascot debut, Martha Splatterhead, their lyrics range from politics to cartoon-like death and destruction. Five more albums followed and after an eleven-year hiatus in 1992, with members taking time to play in other Seattle bands, they re-formed in 2003, playing live shows in the Seattle area and in 2005 they released their eighth album Oh, Martha! on the band's Condar label. This 'comeback record' landed on Revolver magazine's Top Ten Albums of the Year and writer's lists from Metal Maniacs zine. Well, I think their first album is dirtier and more excessive, here they have slowed down a bit which is also noticeable in the length of the songs, but the gnarled sound and Blaine's vocals make up for this small flaw.

MANIACS - Bootlegged At The Bootleg 1988

Already regulars on wdthtc and I always like to post a record of the four. and they are worth searching for. Hessian punx Maniacs recorded their live album 1988 at the legendary "Bootleg" Club in Augsburg, which unfortunately had to close after three years due to massive problems with local residents. Released via Rise & Fall Productions and the four shoot out thirteen powerful, but never dull, hardcore bullets with a political statement and the British influence is clearly audibly. In addition, the fantastic recording quality make this album an enjoyable experience. The song selection is also impressive, as you can read below, and guarantees energetic positive vibrations.

Salute The Survivors/(Funeral Of The) Glory Men/Chainsaw Blues/Weltkrieg/Hardcore Punk/Addicted To The Night/Conscientious Objector/Gimme The Bullet/Deutschland/Danger Eyes/Violence/Traveller In Time/New Morning

V/A - Fun's Not Dead 1985

Inspired by Nolti's birthday repetition, which is full of numerous D-Punk classics and songs I haven't heard for a long time, I thought I rummage on my hard drive and check out what's elegant there. The result is this decent compilation by More Fun Records with fine and exclusive pieces by eight bands which made their vinyl debut in the mid-eighties. The selection is quite convincing and for me it belongs to one of the positive apparitions in this sector. Came partly in colored vinyl and detailed inserts which are unfortunately not available here, maybe someone has useful scans for me. The slab became a victim of my lack of solvency at that time and that is of course annoying. Egal, sometime is Schulz anyway. If you like these bands take a look around the blog, you'll find more stuff for sure. Now I'm chilling a little and I'm hot for the match against Cologne later. Prost!

1.Sixpack - CERESIT 81
2.Hoffnungslosigkeit - BOIKOTTZ
3.Mord Und Totschlag - ROTTING CARCASS
4.Ungewissheit - INFERNO
5.4.Reich - SACKGASSE
6.Kidsoldiers - BOIKOTTZ
7.Fuck - ROTTING CARCASS
8.Mode - CERESIT 81
9.Amis Raus - ROTTING CARCASS
10.Der Kampf - MANIACS
11.Unknown Soldier - ST-37

WARFARE - Noise Noise Noise (Lost Demos) 2015

Powerful record of one of my favorite bands and I'm really happy that some lengthy relationships implement such an idea and make it possible. Raising money is really not the reason, but for us maniacs as a thank you for beeing loyal fans. Warfare were Heavyypunx from Newcastle, founded in 1982 and disbanded in 1993. Their first line-up was Evo (vocals / drums), Gunner (guitars), Falken (bass) and this formation recorded the first two albums, which in my opinion are damn great and nowadays put some so-called hardcore bands in the shade. For High Roller Records Evo has now opened his vast archive of rare and unreleased Warfare recordings. The first release in the “vaultage series” is called "Noise Noise Noise (The Lost Demos)", a compilation of thirteen “lost” Warfare demos. “The source of those demos are first generation analogue cassettes,” explains Evo and features alternative versions of numerous early Warfare classics such as Burn Down The Kings Road, New Age Of Total Warfare or the wild Two Tribes (originally by Frankie Goes To Hollywood) as well as a plethora of completely unreleased material." I can only recommend you to buy this slab and don't be satisfied with cheap mp3s... the Total Death EP and a little compilation are required as well. More infos on HHR and now enjoy the furious and passionate ecstasy of the three.

MANIACS & ZYKLOME A - Split EP 2017

Two fantastic bands which were active in the 80s and significantly shaped the rough fast hardcore style. Two songs per combo, all four already published but here in different versions, I guess they are demos, at least they sound more raw and edgy. I like that scruffy sound and they are always welcome. I have re-upped all the records in the blog so that you can enjoy them to the full and I promise you, there are divine specimens among them. Maniacs were punx from Rotenburg an der Fulda, formed 1982 and disbanded in the early 1990's. They made three albums and two 7Inches. Zyklome A were punx from Bonheiden, active from 1980 to 1985. They made one album and 7Inch in the mid 80s. Solid release by Power It Up Records.
