ESKORBUTO - Anti Todo 1985

More strong attitude and crude lyrics with the second album by Eskorbuto on Discos Suicidas and was Eskizofrenia rather rough and gruff is the quality of the production here significantly better. Eleven songs in thirty minutes, solid mid-tempo stuff, a bit Oi! influenced, in a word: excellent! Get more info and some re-ups of old files via the great split mini album Zona Especial Norte from 1984 with R.I.P. - So, let's see what vinyl I could rip next.

DESECHABLES - Maqueta 1982

First demo with nine killer tracks, released via Anarchi Records/Flor Y Nata Records. Desechables formed around 1980 in Vallirana, a village in the Barcelona suburbs where three friends got together to create one of Spain's most visceral and dirtiest primitive rock three pieces: Tere (screams), Miguel (guitar) and Dei Pei (snare and tom). In summer 1983 a few songs developed from the first sessions in which they played crazy versions of Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, Jordi, Miguel and Tere play in the II Contest International Rock of Lyon. They share the stage with Killing Joke, among others. The experience turned out to be a success. So much so, that they were invited to continue playing in Paris and Rennes. Things were getting really good for them. So well, that the bad luck that was going to accompany them throughout their career, made his first and most devastating act of presence here. Just when they were preparing to record an LP at the legendary Rock Ola in Madrid - "Maqueta" + "La Oración" - Miguel died by trying to rob a jeweler with a toy gun, shot by the jeweler himself in Villafranca del Penedés, the band ceased to exist.

Fortunately, the following year saw the release of the album "Golpe Trás Golpe", which was put together using songs from the French live shows and a performance at the Radio Pop Festival 3. The back cover includes a drawing of the members of the group made by Miguel. Miguel is replaced on the guitar by Jordi's brother, Marcelo, who had not missed a rehearsal and played since 1984 with the group, Carlos also enters and they are established as a quartet. The band recorded at the end of December 1984 in the Rock Ola room "Buen Ser-Vicio" and the provocative cover does not leave anyone indifferent. Just when they began to overcome the situation again, bad luck knocked again at the door of the Catalans: an error in the pressing of the vinyls made the recording did not pick up the forcefulness and harshness of that concert. In any case, the first editions sold out quickly.

In 1986 Desechables released "Nada Que Entender" but it would not be released until the following year and was preceded by the single "Ábreme". The single anticipated what was to come: a good production work but that perhaps too much smoothed the characteristic pointy sound of the quartet. It is here when providence intervenes once more; the disc hardly had distribution and as much Tere as the rest feel that their race does not finish taking off. In 1987 an important change takes place: Jack enters like bassist and Altolaguirre becomes definitive member of the group, although shortly after he undertakes his personal project Ángel and Las Güais and is replaced by Raúl. That same year they recorded the album "Amor Pirata", but it was too late. Just at the time when Desechables began enter the radio stations and have some fame, the band disintegrates. They would do so after their performance at the KGB in Barcelona, on November 17, 1988. Represented on numerous compilations, here are some of them: Bloodstains Across Spain and Viva La Punk!I think a good start into the weekend!

P.V.P. - Las Reglas Del Juego 1984

Two years after the great debut Miedo P.V.P. released their the second album via 21 Records and the nine songs are more mature and you can clearly feel the advancement that now end up in mostly four minutes tracks, partly also very poppy. I must admit, I sometimes miss the aggressiveness and harshness of the earlier recordings and not all's my taste. Anyway, suitable for pajama parties, beach evenings, a nice evening for two or housework.

L'ODI SOCIAL - Que Pagui Pujol EP 1986

L'Odi Social is a hardcore punk band from Barcelona (Catalonia/Spain), founded at the end of 1981 with the name of Social Odi by Jordi "Gos" (vocals), Fernando Poza "Damned" (guitars), Josep Urpí "Poly" (bass) and Saina (drums) and they remained active until 1992 and are considered one of the founding groups of the hardcore punk scene in Barcelona, along with groups like Ultimo Resorte, Shit SA, Anti/Dogmatikss, GRB or Subterranean Kids. Inside this scene, they are reminded , among other reasons, for being one of the first groups that used the Catalan language in their lyrics and titles. During their existence, they published an EP with five songs, Que Pagui Pujol (1986, later reedited, with extra tracks, such as LP and CD), one album (Esventats/1990) and participated on various compilations, including the Nicaragua Rock cassette 10-5-86, where their performance at that festival was collected. And now enjoy your breakfast with five excellent hardcore goodies.

ZAKARRAK - Larga Vida... 1992

Zakarrak were one of Spanish most representative Oi! bands from the nineties. The band was formed back in 1986 in Mondragón (Guipúzcoa) by Petete, Sabih, Oscar, Pexeto and Mitxel and released two demo tapes, one in 1988 and another in 1990. In 1992 they released their debut album "Larga Vida..." which was released via Overdrive on cassette, vinyl and CD, plus Germany released a bootleg in blue & green vinyl for this album. They were solid Oisters!! in the 90’s and they put more rock’n’roll and heavy sound into their music and were more gifted as musicians than most of the bands from their time. Some songs from Zakarrak have become classics for following generations. Now a warm shower, it's raining so more time for posting.

GRB - Cuentos Y Leyendas 1987

GRB began in mid-1984 as a quartet, consisting of Juanito (bass), Miguel (drums), both ex members by Último Resorte), Alberto (guitar, former member of the group and fanzine Drama Of Horror) and Ángel (vocals, Frenopaticss). Its name was inspired by the initials of the Guild of Restoration of Barcelona, that at the time they were seen in posters in bars and restaurants, although in some occasion they gave a different explanation for the acronyms, for example, that meant "Scrambled Eggs with Bacon". In summer of 1985 appears the GRB tape edited by the fanzine label Drama Of Horror. The tape, which in some unauthorized reissues was titled The Good Way or Persecuted By Law, was presented inside a bag that included some sheets with the lyrics of the eighteen songs and various collages related to the songs, made from cuts of comics and newspapers. On the cover of the cassette, printed on photocopied paper, was a photo in the foreground of the face of a rat. Also on the pages of the letters and collages were numerous drawings of rats and mice, in attitudes that expressed the feeling of each song. The rat become the group's mascot. In 1986 the band released their first vinyl Estoy Tan Contento! EP and for the cover they used an old photo from Life magazine that showed a baby sleeping peacefully on a float. In summer 1987, GRB gave a concert at the KGB venue in Barcelona with a view to raising money to record and edit their first album and Cuentos Y Leyendas was recorded @ Marathon Studios but took several months to be published, which took place in January 1988 (although a presentation concert was held, new in the KGB room, on December 19). Although it was properly, again, a self-publishing, was responsible for the distribution and press the Blau stamp. On the cover, sepia gray, an old gnome gives us a skeptical and resabic look. Other gnomes, original illustrations by David Lackin, populate the back cover and the inner insert. Musically, the group had evolved towards a more personal sound, and without feeling the obligation to run normally in hardcore groups. Although there are still very accelerated moments and abrupt changes of rhythm, altogether the tempo of the disc is more relaxed, gaining in intensity the riffs and punteos. But what has made the album legendary are mainly the lyrics, in which harsh reflections on life and the human condition dominate. The promising expectations that were opened by the excellent reception (not commercial success) of the LP were truncated after a succession of incidents that created a growing malaise within GRB. In the first place, in 1988 they were left without a rehearsal room, which, given the economic situation of the group, was not a trivial problem; Then, after returning from a small tour of the Basque Country, they suffered a near-fatal traffic accident, which further increased the discomfort and finally the band broke up shortly thereafter.

GARAGE - En Movimiento EP 1982

Amazing first record by this four piece from Alicante and the band were founded by Angel + Carlos (guitars), Basilio (vocals + bass) and Carlos (drums) and I have no further info except one year later a second single was made via Dos Rombos Discos. Really a pity because what the guys here celebrate is first cream. Three excellent uncompromising kbd flowers and it's no wonder that one was use for the fantastic La Repera compilation on Get Baque Records. One more slab of rare nuggets from the early 80's and makes the frost melt, guaranteed!

COMMANDO 9mm - Únete Al Commando 1987

After their great debut 'Amor Frenopatico' Commando 9mm planted with their second album one more fantastic record with fourteen excellent tracks via La General in the in the fruity soil of the underground. Commando 9mm is the result of two other groups which dissolved in 1984, La Uvi and LarsenThey began to play in a place on Embajadores and composed first songs. In 1985 they won the 3rd prize in the 8th edition of the Rock Villa Trophy in Madrid and the town hall produced a single Odio En Sudamérica. The start was done and they were very successful and to date five albums were recorded and sometime in 2002 the band broke up. Represented on some compilations, two of that are the ingenious Viva La Punk slabs.. with this sound into the weekend!

V/A - OX-Compilation #53 2003

The OX is probably the best-selling punk fanzine in Germany and I think they were the first who put music with their Heftschä, first as a 7Inch and then as a CD. This gives bands the opportunity to get to know a bit, or to promote new releases, of course for a little cash. The compilations are usually very well mixed, great covers and there is also much to discover. Here's # 53 with thirty-one fat punk rock blasts (and the only X-Mas song).

ILEGALES - s/t LP 1983

Let's move to warmer regions and visit the north of Spain and meet the Ilegales which formed 1977 in Asturias by Jorge Martínez, his brother Juan Carlos and David Alonso, first as Madson, two years later they change its name to Los Metálicos. Juan later left the band, being replaced by Íñigo Ayestarán on bass. At that time they are renamed as "Illegals". Despite being a rock band, Ilegales have diverse influences and their acid lyrics have made them a reference for groups of their own style, as well as being one of the best punk bands of Spain in the 80s. In 1981 they won the Ciudad De Oviedo rock contest and few months later they release their debut 7Inch "Revuelta Juvenil En Mongolia" on Discos Arrebato. 1983 the band recorded the debut album and the sound is very thin but it shows Jorge's peculiar way of composing, looking for strong and lapidary phrases that reflect a nihilistic view of a marginal + street world, where fatality and violence are omnipresent; letters of stark social criticism, which characterize songs such as "Tiempos Nuevos, Tiempos Salvajes" or "Yo Soy Quien Espía Los Juegos De Los Niños", alternate surrealist words, presided over by cynicism, black humor or provocation, ("Problema Sexual" or "¡Heil Hitler!").

This first highlight (Hi-Fi Electrónica) shows a photo on the front by artist Ouka Leele, which becomes an icon of the group, gets a success that goes beyond the independent label set up by the producer Paco Martín to publish it, which is why the Asturian singer-songwriter Víctor Manuel gets the rights to the recording for the Sociedad Fonográfica Asturiana (SFA), which in turn licenses it to the multi Epic, which was then dependent on the almighty CBS. With the move to a larger label, Illegales are guaranteed a distribution and promotion of the first order, which arrive at the moment when the band is approaching the peak of its popularity. 1983 the 12Inch "Europa Ha Muerto" comes out with two early pessimistic-humorous punk/ska-rock goodies, recorded in Estudios Norte (Gijón) and produced by Pedro Bastarrica and René De Coupaud, a real profit for the band. A lot of records were released until 2011, members change every little time except Jorge, who keeps rocking, some members died and their music coined generations.

Now you are all well informed and let's enjoy twelve wonderful lost rock nuggets!

P.V.P. - Miedo 1982

Miedo (Fear) is the first album by this Madrid based four piece called PVP (founded 1980) and the album was released in summer 1982 by Belter Records. They made four albums which are nowadays most appreciated and sought. After releasing the fourth album in 1987 the band  disappeared. They were often called "the Clash of Madrid". They never achieved great commercial success, but they did achieve prestige among the public and the specialized press. Twelve solid rockin' numbers and the last one today, I'm fuckin' hungry & tired, a little headache and the rest of the weekend is only chilling. Have a nice Sunday!

BÖHSE TANTEN - Tough Ain't Enough EP 2013

Let's come to this nice record which was released hand numbered to 500 copies via Antisozial Records and it's the debut vinyl by the Böhse Tanten from Madrid and they cover lieder by Böhse Onkelz which is nothing special, but the Böhse Tanten are Skinheads and play only the older ones with their own lyrics (in Spanish and broken German)! Founded 2007 by Malte (vox), Niklas (bass), Peter (guitars) and Jaime (drums) they came to the idea to polish the old Onkelz songs in a punkin' direction and their first album (only as CD, 500 copies) Made In Madrid with eight songs is nowadays a rare jewel. What the boys drifted until 2013 is not known to me but a compilation album called The Oaschwukal Jahre was released with the CD and EP tracks and since then it has become quiet. Of course, you can ask: Does make that any sense at all? but I think it's cool because the music is not bad and that counts. Ach Scheiße, zieht Euch die vier Liedchen rein und damit hat sich's!

INTERTERROR - s/t LP 1985

It has become infinitely colder and therefore we make an excursion to the Iberian Peninsula. During the first years of the 80's Interterror were still one of the most significant and interesting bands in Valencia's musical scene of that era. The band were formed in 1980 by Willy (vocals) and some other fans of British punk, although it wouldn't be until November 1981 that the band was completely constituted. The lineup then included Victor (drums), Paco (bass) and Miguel (guitar). Soon they became known by their pounding sound and funny lyrics, even though their musical parameters later on moved towards a faster and cleaner rock sound, denouncing war and social ills. In 1983 their first 7" came across by RS Editora and included "Adiós Lili Marleen" and "Felices Días En Auschwitz" in an edition of 1500 copies and became one of the most sought records. Lineup changes followed and in 1985 new material were recorded with their old bassist Paco and was moderately successful in punk terms. But they still didn't achieve the attention they hoped for, without generating the interest needed for a major to pick them up. The members became tired of the band and broke up soon thereafter. (Source: Federico) - Check out the compilation songs and enjoy the refreshing sunny day at the beach!

V/A - Life Is A Joke 1984

A collection of Punkrock, Hardcore and high energy noise from around this planet. Yeah, exactly and this is the first part of this mini serie, a total of three compilations exist, shot from the Hamburg label Weird System in the 80s into the orbit. I remember at that time I was interested in the publications of the label and bought a lot of records, together with AGR the most important in Germany for essential punkrock. While AGR put its focus on German bands gave the Hamburger international bands the chance to send their demos to them and connections were established, lots of plenty stuff roll in and so they created some damn cool records with awesome songs/bands which are, in my opinion, nowadays belong to the best ever. Life Is A Joke is full with rare tracks, partly nowhere else published, Volume 2 was released as a limited double LP, all records numbered and the first presses come in colorful vinyl, always in an elaborate artwork, made in Germany!

V/A - La Repera 1996

Ah Fuck, unfortunately nothing with the DFB Cup yesterday and thus also next year not internationally present, after all a very good game of the SGE and congratulations to the black-yellows. Let's go to what's more pleasurable, talk about Get Baque Records. A private amateurish 'label' which specializes in rare stuff, mainly from Europe, and all music is ripped from original vinyls and it's 100% D.I.Y. and pressed in a limited edition. I think someone has digitized his record collection and shares this in form of CD-R with us, simple artwork to that and finished is a small musical highlight. I'm sure this is a lot work and takes toil and time but the result is worth the effort. This is the first GBR compilation with twenty Spanish rarities 1978-1983. Well, whether I would sell them is another story. So, thirty degrees today, time for sun.

1.La Cloaca - LA BANDA TRAPERA DEL RÍO
2.Esperando En La Puerta Del WC - BASURA
3.La Pluma Electrica - KAKA DE LUXE

SKALOPE - Derrigor 1989

Over to Spain in the Basque Country and meet a band from Bilbao. Skalope were formed in 1987 by Sabin (vocals), Jon (guitar), Mo (guitar), Oskar (guitar), Juani (bass) and Javi (drums). Their debut on Discos Suicidas is a mythical album in which you can find fifteen tracks to punk and ska rhythm. About half an hour to sing, dance and fight, based on funny songs and they include two cover versions ("Police & Thieves" & "Blitzkrieg Bop"). A record full of good songs with no expiration date. That's all for today, tonight the football game against Mönchengladbach and I will slowly get into the mood.

So reason enough to bring the boys back. Excellent kbd stuff and they are represented on numerous compilations, some also in the blog, search on the top left. The sun shines and I leave home briefly.

V/A - Chaos In Catalonia #1 2014

An absolutely fantastic quality is this compilation from Common People Records with fifteen streetpunk nuggets and will be not sung in Spanish this could be a British record, of course the latest material. I am always hard with new things because I'm an old sack and somehow it all sounds the same for me but I like the Spanish stuff and this record proves this clearly and you can read a review on the american-oi site which I can only agree. Barcelona Óle and waiting for Volume 2 is worthwhile in any case.

COMMANDO 9MM - Odio En Sudamérica 7'' 1985

This is my Spanish favourite band: Commando 9mm,founded in 1983 by Jose L. Rodríguez (guitar), El Mosca (drums), and Manolo Quevedo (bass+vocals) and this is their debut 7Inch on Ayuntamiento De Madrid with two goodies. Very fat stuff and simply extreme good. They made three albums and all are fantastic, I posted two on my former blog and one day here again. I'm too lazy to write more, I think I've said it all. A must have!
