V/A - Planet Punk #3 2004

Planet Punk is/was another serie of selfmade compilations/revival from Chuck Warner’s Hyped2Death efforts, and before your requests for Volume 1 + 2 come, these are not available. The first appearances of this homework label in this theater have already been made through the Bad Teeth series and H2D is focused on early KBD slabs, sometimes worldwide, sometimes country-specific, and this Fucker is dedicated to rare European stuff. The exact year of publication is given by me, because I believe that it must have been generated at this time, of course I can be wrong, but that doesn't really matter, it is important that they exist and that people like Chuck make such treasures tangible and unforgettable, I am like him and as a regular reader of this blog you already got to know some nuggets from WDM RecordsWell, you can listen to thirty decent cool songs, most of them already on vinyl (click on the top left), but this compilation is just this kind of work that was cobbled with passion, a lot of time, heart & soul and deserves your respect and attention. Enjoy the delicate tones and Volume #4 is coming soon.

DEBILS - s/t LP 1981

OK my friends of delicate taste, we are going to take a short trip over to the alpine country and meet the Debils, Toxic (vocals), Rex (guitars), Laps (bass), Christ (drums), from Biene, and they were the only band from the second generation, that did release an album in the early 1980. Their direction was resolute: autodidactic, nonconformist, and apolitical. This was contrary to the intellectual Punk from Geneva or the vain "real and hard" Züri Punx. And, more akin to the Bernese groove, with a touch of francophone mixed within and all songs in french. It's a 100% Swisspunk record and every song on it is a banger and the original record from 1981 is almost impossible to find and therefore it's a bless, that the Berlin label Static Age in cooperation with Swisspunk have reissued this treasure in 2017 in a limited pressing of 488 copies in a delicious gatefold sleeve with a solid insert which contains flyers, pictures, lyrics and some history, of course long ago sold out. Eleven simple, sympathetic songs with fine female vocals in French make this record interesting and its catchy melodies remind me that the Eintracht only played a draw again and I finally have to make my breakfast.

ME 110-D - s/t EP 1982

Rare five track EP on Soilant by this Swiss piece: ME 110-D from Uster and the band consisted of Alex (vocals), Thommen (guitars), Jenni (bass), Häse (drums). Not much info about the boys is documented, only some sources say their band name stands for the Messerschmitt Bf 110 D series, other mean it stands for Melody (I think, the first makes more sense). Anyway, fact is this record is a damn good punk record and the first pressing (also known as Bullenlied EP) came in a double picture sleeve and only a few copies exist and getting one of this blue mauritius is like finding the holy grail. I guess the second edition is just as rare and possibly 500 copies were pressed. Well, the rarity collectors among you probably know it better. I am surprised that they are not featured on any of the relevant compilations, and you know which one I mean. Nun, that makes the four even more interesting and maybe some Nick Knatterton will changed this in the near future, right?

TÜCHEL - Eat Shit EP 1995

A trip to the southern Alpine region on a date with Tüchel, a combo from St.Gallen and the five doing their Punk'N'Roll thing since 1993 and have numerous tapes, vinyl and CD releases as well as articles for compilations and radio shows published all over the world. This is their debut EP on Boin-n-g! Records and was recorded by Huldi (vocals), Hüe & Aldo (guitars), Roy (bass) and Sascha (drums). This Cracker offers four fat extraordinary stomper which I'm not used to from this country and I'm positively impressed, the five do an excellent job. Due to numerous good reviews, another five hundred copies of the single were pressed soon. The newly inflamed interest in punk naturally contributed to the most successful section in the history of Tüchel. Many line-up changes have accumulated in their lifespan, but they celebrate their no-frills, explosive sound with the same passion as they did a quarter of a century ago. Trend-free and hand-knotted and they are far from the end.

LOMBEGO SURFERS - Third Stage 7'' 2001

Weekend and the last day of April and in keeping with the rising temperatures, now the appropriate sound for the dance into May. The Lombego Surfers are a Swiss GarageRockPunk and Surf instrumental band from Basel and the three warriors have been riding through Europe for over twenty years and they don’t give a hoot about trends. Musically they convince with their hard straight Rock’N’Roll and bring every lame club to a boil. The almost dozen albums and numerous singles to date prove that they enjoy what they do. The current line-up consists of Anthony (vocals/guitar), Pascal (bass), Olivier (drums) and the current album Heading Out came out in 2018. This is their fifth single with two solid numbers and I'll have a cold beer with it and rock out a little, Cheers!

VORWÄRTS - A Trip Down Memory Lane 2002

Swiss punk veterans Vorwärts are from the area of Basel, founded by Udi (vocals), RR & Bibä (guitars), Nutty (bass), Roli (drums), and today the oldest Punk combo from Switzerland still playing live. In 1984, when singer Udi and his friends went into the studio for the first time and the result is the very much sought nameless five track 12'', 300 copies exist. Vorwärts already had several years of service under their belt: the band was formed 1979 and Udi remembers his first contact with the punk movement, which was only slowly making its way from London and New York to the Upper Basel area. "When punk was born in 1976/77 we had no idea," he says. It wasn't until two years later that he heard the first songs by the Ramones, The Damned, Clash and Sex Pistols and had pictures in the "Pop/Rocky”or “Musikexpress”. That "simply blown him and his friends away", as he told the bz: "Punk was so much better, more urgent and more important than anything we had heard before." The founding of his own band was "an outbreak, a departure, an undreamt-of freedom". Forward hit the Zeitgeist and were able to record their first successes: with their song TV Generation the quintet made it onto national radio and with a self-made clip (you can find it on YouTube under the title Boring Generation) even on Swiss television. But in their early years, Vorwärts not only met with approval. It belonged then that they were insulted as “Schwuli Söu”, “Gsindel” and “Soupack” because of their appearance - “bright green and black striped jeans, studded belts and bracelets, sprayed shirts, holes in clothes, a lot of leather and so on” the everyday life of the five young men. In 1988 the dissolution followed due to various individual follow-up projects and 1998 the reunion on the occasion of the wedding of a band member and since then they still active and their last record was released two years ago for their 40th year existence! HUNGRY FOR WHAT - ... And The War Goes On 1984

Powerful punkrock on this spring-like Monday by Hungry For What, a Swiss combo from Biel and they're actice from 1983 - 1987 and in their short lifespan they released two albums + a 12''. The band consisted of Netz (vocals/guitar), Thomas (guitars), Buzz (bass), Christoph (drums) and this is the debut on Farmer Records with ten solid numbers and was licensed a year later in yellow vinyl from the german Mülleimer label. You can find them on some compilations and more about them isn't known. Well, sometimes it isn't necessary either. Enjoy the music and the evening.

TECHNYCOLOR - Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien (1979-1981) 2015

Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien ("No, I don't regret anything") is the most famous chanson by Édith Piaf and the fitting title of this splendid compilation by Static Age Records, which was released in 2015. 400 copies were pressed, from that 100 limited in red wine silkscreenprint cover (my copy). Switzerland is a very small country, but has produced an infinite number of good bands. Punk exists there as music, political and youth culture, with the scene developing from the mid-1970s and flourishing between 1976 and 1981. One of the first bands (1977) was the Zurich Nasal Boys. Later bands like Bellevue, TNT, Sperma and of course Technycolor were founded, which released their first EP "Bunker" in 1979. Today priceless the original. Technycolor from Geneva make dark (post) punk with French lyrics. Especially "Tot 77" about the death of the RAF members in Stammheim convinced with provocative German exclamations like "Stammheim/Helmut Macht Frei". Whoever dug here did a great job. There are unpublished studio recordings, radio sessions (all from the early days) and lots of material that makes you wonder why it wasn't released back then. This record is a collection with fourteen varied & experimental songs, consisting of the Bunker 7Inch, plus unpublished pieces of their early repertoire, and already very sought in these harsh times. Comes with a twenty-four page booklet in french/english and Ford Rouge (vocals), Ray & Victor (guitars), Yvesteric (bass), Mike (synth) and Fred (drums) invite you for dance, so let's pogo.

KIE 13 - Music For Zeros EP 1983

Very rare EP by this four piece called Kie 13 and members were Pascal (vocals/guitar), Jesper & Klaus (bass) and Kai (drums) and this is their self-released EP. The members of Kie 13 where at the time very young and from Basel. There is a story, that one of the bandmembers was picked up by his dad from the studio Bernex during recordings, because his dad didn't like all of this at all. On the label it says Kei 13 instead of Kie 13. Seven simple unspectacular catchy songs in charming Swiss dialect takes you straight back with their handmade sound to 1983. Nice one!

YODLER KILLERS - Jacot Masturbette 7'' 1979

Only slab by the the Yodler Killers from Geneva on Zaki Records and both songs were recorded by Alain (vocals), Fritz (guitars), Tony (bass) and Doctor Mengele (drums). "In 2015 came an exact reissue of the record out with a gloss laminated top quality flipback cover, original label artwork, as well as with a four page booklet insert! Top quality mastering, vinyl cutting and expensive Swiss virgin vinyl pressing. The A-Side plays with an endless groove – just like the original did too! Limited edition of 600 copies. Easily one of the very BEST Swiss Punk 45s ever recorded!", so the description of detourrecords which I like to quote. As a bonus, a live piece from the split CD with the BastardsAlso found on relevant KBD compilations. Enjoy!

THE VYLLIES - s/t 12'' 1984

The Vyllies, Manu (vocals/percussion), Ursula (rhythm box), Ilona (vocals/bass), were a Swiss trio from Lausanne and formed 1983, inspired by Goth and Dark Wave music. In the mid-80s, the band toured with well-known UK bands, they released two albums and four EP's. This is their debut record which was released via the Greek label Creep Records and we have five catchy electronic different moodscapes ala Anne Clark. Only a few copies find their way to Switzerland. Enough, however, to be discovered and played by different radio stations. After some major concerts in Switzerland, the band embarks on a European tour lasting several months in the spring of 1987. Despite success, the three women go separate ways from mid-1988.

V/A - Death Metal 1984

A little treat for my Metal friends is for sure the fourth compilation of the Berlin Noise Label, whose Metal Attack Vol.1 has a surprisingly large number of downloads. just a pity that you don't say anything at all, well ... my metal days are long gone but now and then I have the feeling to pull out one of my few remaining slabs and sometimes I have to laugh at some songs how bad they are. Well, thirty years ago, my clock went different but even these times stay unforgotten.

A bit info: Death Metal is a mini album by Helloween, Hellhammer, Running Wild & Dark Avenger. It contains the only recorded material of the German band Dark Avenger. The album offers an interesting snapshot of the ebullience and creativity of the Central European metal scene during the end of the early 1980s. At that time Running Wild had yet to develop their "Pirate Metal" schtick and considered themselves a black metal band. Helloween were more of a thrashy speed metal act rather than the melodic power metal vehicle into which they would soon develop. Hellhammer were the darker and heavier band of the foursome and would later be regarded as pioneers and inspiration for generations of European extreme metalers. This album is a perfect example of that sound. It's fast, heavy, dark, and far from mainstreem. A detailed review can be found on metal-archives. So, in one hour is kick-off in Vaduz.

1.Iron Heads - RUNNING WILD
2.Bones To Ashes - RUNNING WILD
3.Revelations Of Doom - HELLHAMMER
4.Messiah - HELLHAMMER
5.Black Fairies - DARK AVENGER
6.Lords Of The Night - DARK AVENGER
7.Oernst Of Life - HELLOWEEN
8.Metal Invaders - HELLOWEEN

PUTSCH - Kein Traum 12'' 1982

The band's first single was recorded in 1981 with Rudolph Dietrichthen devoted himself to his own projects and this Mini 12'' of the Zurich band Putsch was then with the following formation: Stef (vocals), Christian (guitar), Roger (bass) and Stefan (drums) recorded and released in 1982 via R.F. Records and is a committed product with a rich funky bass. For a while they managed to keep the level, a third 12'' Geniess Es Nicht came out then the band of the brothers Roger & Stefan Müller left without a trace. On compilations rather not represented, only on Definitiv Zurich with one song. Musically not as hard and dirty as many other well-known Swiss colleagues but with good lyrics and wavie vibras.

LAST ROMANCE - War In The City 7'' 1981

Now a damn rare sole release which was released via the famous Swiss label Off Course Records and Last Romance were a four piece from Büren and members were Toni (vocals), Netz (guitar), Buzz (bass) and Pasquale (drums). Two numbers, the title track is fuckin' rockin' mid-tempo killer while the flip is an almost seven minute "marching song", based on Troops Of Tomorrow I would say, very cool. Buzz and Netz already played in Sozz which released two terrific 7Inches. Otherwise, the band was not very active, even no compilation contributions or anything else and I can't tell you exactly how I became aware of them but I guess it was via the labelAnyway, it is fantastic to be able to express ourselves howsoever we choose.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World #3 2019

I don't know how surprised you were but when I saw this new Bloodstains compilation on ebay I didn't think long after, I gave my bid immediately & won the auction. Unfortunately not as vinyl but as lame unspectacular CD-R in an edition of 100 copies. Anyway, The tracklist is interesting and I know 40% of it whose originals can be found in the blog and the rest is fuckin' new. I would say, has become an excellent result, only drawback for the poor artwork, which is capable of development and must be better. But in the end, it is nice that someone makes the effort to keep this grandiose series alive. Enjoy!

1.Min Musik - 57 KEZ
2.Knulla I Bangkok - BAD BOO BAND
3.Kicsinál Szódát - BIKINI

NDT - Live! 1983

This time not a bootleg but an official album, the second and last of NDT from Lucerne and this rare record was taped on April 1983 in Bern. When I heard the slab for the first time I immediately thought of Slime's Pankehallen album but today I think it lacks the power of it a bit but that does not make it any worse. Fifteen goodies mostly from their first album in fantastic sound and charming intermediate announcements, I wanna know who supported them at that time, was certainly a great gig. Anyway, let's see if I can fill the month with more live stuff. Have a great weekend and now welcome NDT!

V/A - Metal Attack Vol.1 1985

Now a little trip back to my Metal days with this nice compilation from Noise Records. Six bands and we kick off with Grave Digger from Gladbeck, formed 1980 and they're still alive, Running Wild were formed 1976 in Hamburg. They were part of the German metal scene to emerge in the early to mid-1980s. Over the course of their career, they have released sixteen studio albums, three live albums, five compilation albums, and six singles/EPs. Although their earlier releases contained Satanic themes and imagery, Gerald "Preacher" Warnecke, the guitar player of the band, was studying theology at the time and is now a pastor in Cologne. Helloween's a power metal band also from Hamburg, founded 1984 by members of bands Iron Fist and Gentry. They released fifteen studio albums, three live albums, three EPs, and twenty-seven singles, and has sold more than eight million records worldwide. Warrant were formed 1983 in Düsseldorf by Jörg (vocals & bass), Thomas (guitar), Oliver (guitar) and Lothar (drums). Also Thomas Franke played all drums in 1985 studio recordings of both EP and LP and in 1999 recordings as well. They went on tour with Warlock in 1985, after releasing an EP and an LP the band soon split up. Sinner was formed by vocalist and bassist Mat Sinner in 1982, based in Stuttgart the band released their first album, Wild'n'Evil in 1982. This album, along with the next two (Fast Decision and Danger Zone) were raw affairs, having little in common with the melodic metal they would later become known for. Celtic Frost were a Swiss extreme metal band from Zurich. They are known for their strong influence on the development of extreme metal. Formed in 1981 as Hellhammer, the band became Celtic Frost in 1984 and was active until 1993. Their music included elements of various extreme metal styles. Their earlier music was classified as thrash metal and death metal and their later work was classified as doom metal. The level of experimentation on albums such as Into the Pandemonium led certain journalists to describe the band's direction as avant-garde metal.

1.Shine On - GRAVE DIGGER
2.Tears Of Blood - GRAVE DIGGER
3.Diabolic Force - RUNNING WILD
4.Murderer - HELLOWEEN
5.Scavenger's Daughter - WARRANT
6.Danger Zone - SINNER
7.Dethroned Emperor - CELTIC FROST
8.Morbid Tales - CELTIC FROST

CRAZY - No Chance 1980

Before I fly to Milan tonight and cheer for the SGE a short stop in Switzerland and meet Crazy from Lucerne, formed 1979 by Urs (vocals), Rene (guitars), Tremp (bass) and Burri (drums) and they released the first independent Swiss Punk album which was recorded in a mere three days at the Sunrise Studios and the makers of the small Hamburg label Moderne Musik Tonträger became fans of the band so they released the record as well, both versions are very much sought nowadaysFourteen simple catchy '77 style smasher have they recorded and what can I say? Heart-refreshing melodic numbers, perfect length, glanderous voice and good lyrics packed in a small Heftschä, live always welcome. One more 12'' was also released in 1980 with four songs and in late 1982 or early 1983 the band broke up. Solid record... and now I must buy a few beers.

HLM GANG - Local Sessions 1981-1982

Great never before released record by this fabulous early Swiss Punk outfit from Lausanne! This superlimited LP was privately released by the band and is limited to just 300 copies only. The first 100 copies came with numbered backcover (of which the first twenty-five copies were signed by the band). HLM Gang were existing from 1978 - 1983. They were one of the few classic early Swiss Punk bands to never release a record. Their lineup was consisting of Paquito (guitar), Nenel (vocals), Zaf (drums, backing vocals), and Ptit Jos (vocals/bass). HLM were sharing the stage with Discolokosst (Geneva), Sub Rescue (Lausanne), The Debils (Biel), Marionetz (Munich/Germany), Baramine (Valais), TNT (Zurich), Technycolor (Geneva), Mother's Ruin (Zurich), Starshooter (Lyon, France) and and and... as well as with several other classic punk bands. About three years after the breakup of HLM, PTIT JOS and ZAF (a.k.a. CLode) went on to form the fairily well known minimalistic electronic post Punk duo I SCREAM. Finally thirty years after the forming of HLM, we are in for a real treat in form of this historic LP of previously unreleased 1981-1982 tracks by the main Lausanne Punk band from the first two generations. The songs on this album speak for themselves, and are still as important today as they used to be back when they were recorded. Great!!!!!
