V/A - Clay Records Punk Singles Collection 1996

Well, Christmas is just around the corner and you might know this is not my time and I'm just only enjoying the days off before going back to servitude on Tuesday. But first we relax and the freedom kicks off with Receiver Records, who released this little compilation by the Clay Records label and this Punk Singles Collection "captures some of the prime material released on one of the most important labels in Britain's transition from Punk to Hardcore. The collection is naturally dominated by Discharge, who have eight of the twenty-two songs here; there are also multiple selections from G.B.H, the Abrasive Wheels, and the Lurkers, plus one track apiece by the Killjoys and future goth mainstays the Sex Gang Children. While it might be better for some fans to simply pick up compilations by the individual artists for a more detailed look, this will serve those who simply want a more concise overview." DISCHARGE & THE FILTH - Anytown/Freedom EP 1980

Rare EP (500 copies) on Go Round Records with two English combos. Discharge were formed late 1978 by Gary (vocals/guitar), Bri (guitar), Dave (bass), John (drums) in Middlesbrough (not to be confused with the punx from Stoke-On-Trent) and these both tunes are their only recordings. About The Filth is not much known, the band consisted of Kevin (vocals), Niggsi (guitar), Mich (bass), Martin (drums) and it exists an unofficial compilation called Blue Law on Retro Records with twenty shots which is hard to get, with demos and rare live recordings, I guess. More infos about this release on Bored Teenagers and Discharge made it on first release of this series. Charming and very interesting minimalist work of art.

X-S DISCHARGE - Life's A Wank EP 1980

Groucho Marxist Record Co:Operative was a small independent label from Paisley run by printer Tommy Kayes, a member of a Clydeside Anarchist group. Overall were issued two V/A EP's, an EP by X-S Discharge and a single by Defiant Pose during the period 1979-81. More about the label and the Paisley Punk scene can be found above. On this rare record this very talented scottish punk band from Paisley fire here four extraordinary grenades into the universe. I think the Scottish bands are very different from the English punks, here's more pop and melody in the music. I guess this is due to the cozy Scottish mentality and they are far ahead of the busy urbanites. I know it well too when I'm outside of Frankfurt and visit the countryside, the people are somehow relaxed as we. Well, for that here's more action. Certain is, this Scottish gem is a brilliant record from a really good band, also worth mentioning here the lyrics. You will like it, I promise.

CHRON GEN - Live @ The Old Waldorf San Francisco 1985

In 30 minutes is kick-off and I hope for the miracle of London, I'm already excited and therefore now a few words to this nice slab by Chron Gen, published by Hard Court/Picasso, whiche are not mine but fit: Chron Gen (short for Chronic Generation) are a British punk band formed in January 1978 in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Chron Gen initially comprised former members of The Condemned and Optional Xtras. Band members included Glynn (Baxter) Barber (vocals/guitarist), Jon 'JJ' Johnson (drummer), Adam Warwicker (bass guitar), and Jon Thurlow (rhythm guitar), with Pete Dimmock replacing Warwicker after the band recorded their first demo. The band released their debut EP Puppets Of War in 1981 on their own Gargoyle label; It spent almost ten months in the UK Independent Chart, peaking at # 4. With the success of the EP, Chron Gen were invited to join The Exploited, Discharge, Anti-Pasti, and The Anti-Nowhere League on the now infamous Apocalypse tour in the UK in the summer of 1981. They released a single on the Step Forward label before moving to Secret Records, who issued the band's debut album, Chronic Generation, in March 1982. It reached # 53 on the UK Albums Chart, and was the last release to feature Thurlow, who was replaced by Mark 'Floyd' Alison. The band toured with Anti-Nowhere League on their 'So What' tour and toured the United States in support of the album. After a further single, Dimmock left to join Chelsea (and later Bandits at 4 O'Clock), and was replaced by Roy Horner. The band's final release was the 1984 mini-album Nowhere to Run, which was recorded before Horner joined and featured session musician Nigel Ross-Scott on bass. It didn't match their earlier success and the band split up in October 1984. The band have played occasional reunion shows since. Floyd later joined The Occasional Tables. He died on 31 October 1999 and Pete Dimmock died on 12 August 2011. - Enjoy!

G.B.H - No Survivors EP '82 + Give Me Fire 7'' '82 + Catch 23 7'' 1983

Punk Rocking For Over 30 Years, that's what we have here now. - Charged G.B.H are an English Street punk band, formed in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy & Drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. G.B.H were early pioneers of English street punk, often nicknamed "UK82", along with Discharge, Broken Bones, The Exploited etc.. They have gone on to influence several punk rock musicians. The name G.B.H was inspired by then-bassist Sean McCarthy's trial for grievous bodily harm. Charged GBH embarked on several English and mainland US tours during the early 1980s, including several gigs at the 100 Club. 1981 saw G.B.H's first record Leather, Bristles, Studs & Acne and one year later the first full length album, City Baby Attacked By Rats. Lyrically, the band dealt with criticism of British and European culture, violence, morbidity (especially in reference to the song "Passenger On The Menu", which describes in graphic detail the experiences of the passengers on the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571), atheism, nihilism and humour. Musically, the band is loud and fast, with few songs exceeding three minutes. In 1984 the band changed their name to G.B.H (Grievous Bodily Harm). Unlike some early punk bands that evolved towards other styles, G.B.H have stayed fairly faithful to their original UK82 sound in subsequent releases. However, the band have experimented to some degree with a more speed metal-inflected sound and at this point i'm losing my interest. So here we have three singles from the early days and everyone is a pretty UK Punkrock Killer.

BROKEN BONES - Never Say Die 12'' 1986

Broken Bones are a hardcore punk band founded in 1983 and led by Anthony 'Bones' Roberts. They evolved from the band Discharge, and later moved into a style known as crossover. They have released eight albums, three EP's and a number of singles. The band has gone through a number of line-up changes over the years and have toured internationally. They has been cited as an influence by some of today's most prominent punk, metal and hardcore acts such as Metallica, Anthrax, Hatebreed and many more. They have also been key in the development of thrash metal (and its offshoot, crossover thrash) as bands such as Slayer have cited them as being a key influence. I had some slabs but somehow none is left, lent or sold. Solid UK Punk trasher!

VIIMEINEN KOLONNA - Onnellisuus Ahdistaa EP 2001

From Helsinki comes this fantastic hardcore band (last column), and this is their first release on Fight Records. And Fuck! what a horny music. Influences of Discharge or Terveet Kädet are here and all the nine songs roars out of the speakers so that these must do a quite maximum job. If I could only understand what these weird guys sing here? The Finnish language is world class and I think the guys are really pissed off. aggressive quick notes that I can always play. The world as a punk rocker is not easy. Everyone who enjoyed classic hardcore 'Made In Finland' can't getting away from this awesome band. B.t.w. great cover artwork.

EXIT CONDITION - Bite Down Hard EP 1988

From the West Midlands town of Stoke On Trent, Exit Condition (1988-1994) were part of the mid 80’s UK melodic punk/hardcore scene in vein of Snuff, Leatherface, etc... This six song record marks their vinyl debut and the band play a straight decent lively hardcore beat with a thundering guitar sound reminicent of British punk at the time it first began competing with the US in the speed trials. Credit for this excellent fusin of style certainly must go to the bands producer, former Discharge and Broken Bones guitarist Bones. Finished off nicely with the cool artwork by Squeal and Pushead this makes for a pretty nifty entrance, highly recommended. One more 7Inch can be listen at 8th Sin.

SECTION 5 - The Way We Were 1990

An older rip: "Section 5 was founded 1981 in Stoke On Trent, England. Formed by Tosh & Sid the original bassist for many years and the first line-up consisted of Tosh (guitar), Sid (bass), Rat (drums) & Tony Boult (vocals). This line-up did around five shows when it came clear it was not going to work out. Tony was replaced by Dave Maskery aka Mask around 1983. This line-up then went on to do around twenty gigs and thirteen demo tracks. On hearing these tracks Roddy Moreno then signed the band in 1985 to his label Oi! Records. By this time Tosh had taken over on vocals and the band became a three piece when their debut album we wont change came out in 1985. By the time the second album came out on Link Records in 1987. Rat had been replaced on drums by Nik Drjuricic. By 1988 for the Street Rock'N'Roll album on Link they had been joined by Tezz Roberts ex Discharge/Broken Bones & UK Subs. This was the line up that paved the way for what is now Section 5's sound! After this as only Tezz knew how he settled in the states became Terry Bones and ended up with Minstry. By 1990 Tezz was replaced by Tony Sids mate on lead and Nik was replaced by Steve Walker. It was this year they released their last album on Link The Way Way We Were. But in true Tezz style he did return to the U.K.to guest on Bring The Wall Down/Too Many People & Final Fight on that album. He would later return to record 'They think its all over/Hammer In The Nails' and the Hard Life CD & play a big part in the bands comeback in 2003. But back to the early 90's the situation of the scene started choking the band and they called it a day. The right wing left wing fights and bullshit became too much and Tosh wanted no part of it. Many more line up changes later various splits and comebacks and more splits. All be it one of the laziest bands on the planet as far as doing gigs. But things are about to change in 2010. ASBEST - Klaustrofobi EP 2005

Like their previous 7Inch "Nyt Blod" from 2003, Copenhagen's Asbest offers us with these record once again beautiful hardcore thrash punkies in the vein of Discharge or early Black Flag. The anger & passion sonicate the harsh sound and the gruff vocals round off this perfect mixture, if that’s your thing don't hesitate to grap this. Released via the great Danish label Kick N' Punch Records and this melodic goodie is not only for fans of K-town hardcore interesting, pick this up or get fucked - Cooool. Achja, two more bloody asskicker on the tasty København I Ruiner compilation.

ULSTER - M-19 EP 1995

Rough, aggressive and absolutely true, Ulster lived for two years rehearsing and playing in São Paulo's most obscure ghettos. They left the shadow of anarchy wherever they passed, with extremely fast and distorted music along with a unique look. Some facts from the long unfortunately deactivated KFTH archive: "In 1979, São Paulo's ABC region was Brazil's largest industrial complex, employing thousands of metallurgists. At the same time, there appeared the first signs of a huge social crisis that would shake the structure of the country. The Brazilian Detroit produced not only strikes and unemployment, but also insurrection in several cultural fields - specifically in the music scene which drew its inspiration from the European and American punk movement. The first crop of punk bands had no technological resources, only their dissatisfied scream. Ulster were one of these first bands to give back to the system its own aggression with visual and sonic violence.

In the end of 1979, in the industrial shed of São Bernardo do Campo, Ulster was born, with Betão (drums), Vladi (bass), Luiz (also in Brigada do Ódio and Olho Seco) on guitar and Mauro (vocals). The sound was fast and noisy, energetic and compelling, with direct influences of early '80s punk, such as Discharge, Disorder, etc. The name was inspired by the terrorists of the IRA (Irish Republican Army), who fought battles in the streets of Ulster, Ireland. As a result, the lyrics they wrote were quite provocative and many of them dealt with acts of terrorism, such as the songs "M-19," "Bandeiras Vermelhas" ("Red Flags"), "Morte Aos Velhos," etc."This EP has five songs from their 1982 demo and they don't show sound quality, they show rebellion in its more pure and real state.

SS KIDS - Humans Punks EP 1983

From Dunkerque came the SS Kids and this rare 7Inch was released by the band itself and members were Edon (vox), Haricot (guitars), John Fed (Bass) and Discharge (drums). Not find on any relevant compilations or elsewhere infos, presumably it's due to the provocative band name, anyway. What is sure, they recorded four first-rate mid-tempo punches which fit immediately and makes the long fuckin' Monday a bit pleasant for me. Good stuff!!

R.I.P. & ESKORBUTO - Zona Especial Norte 12'' 1984

Legendary split album on Spansuls records sharing two wild and radical bands emerged in the Basque Country: R.I.P. was a punk rock group from Mondragón and were part of the Basque Radical Rock musical movement in the early 1980s and started as Double Zero. They celebrate four great hardcore punk trashers in the vein of the early british style ala Discharge or G.B.H., fast ripping guitars with an angry voice, great!! They released two albums and be a welcome guest on numerous compilations. They disbanded in 2003 when their vocalist died in Bilbao. Eskorbuto was a punk band from Santurtzi which were formed in 1980. They have been one of the most influential bands for Spanish and Latin American punk rock. They are known for their strong attitude and crude lyrics. They were one of the first bands to perform punk with Spanish lyrics. Eskorbuto is a modified word taken from escorbuto (scurvy in Spanish). Along with the band La Polla Records, Eskorbuto has been very influential in the Spanish rock and punk scene. Four intense and strong mid-tempo goodies. Yeah, I love Spanish punk, always a pleasure and gladly taken. Salut!!

NECRONOMICON - s/t LP 1986

Some time has elapsed since the last Metal post and now a real highlight from Germany. This is one of the records which got lousy reviews in many metal magazines so for me an interesting record. This is the debut album by Necronomicon, a German thrash metal band founded in 1983 and two years later they recorded a demo called Total Rejection and in their early days they made punkrock in the vein of GBH or Discharge, hard, fast & loud but then soon they change more into metal. In 1985, the quartet signed their first record contract at GAMA Records. The band released their debut album "Necronomicon", still dressed in punk outfits on the cover. With a mixture of hard thrash with strong punkrock influences, they gained notoriety in the underground scene. To this day the band has produced eight albums, the second I had but still did not approach the strong debut, so I've just sold it. What I here like are the chainsaw guitars, the devilish rough voice (today I find it quite funny) and the powerful sound which drives consistently through the eight songs. Don't have to hide behind the American trashers, a solid German metal Platte.

ESKORBUTO - Eskizofrenia 1984

Now another classic record and I wanna quote a lots of info from the grandiose KillFromTheHeart page: Eskorbuto were among the most popular of the "Radical Basque Rock" movement, despite the fact that they were constantly fighting against those who defended the term. The band was born at the beginning of the 80s in the slums of the Margen Izquierda ("Left River Bank", Bilbao), they managed to become local legends before they even recorded anything. Their nihilistic attitude, the members' strong personality (especially Iosu's) and their catchy tunes, helped them gain many followers both in the Basque Country (Euskadi) and in the rest of Spain. Their first LP Eskizofrenia ("Schizophrenia") was surrounded by a lot of controversy (including arrests, censorship...), which in a way helped the band in increasing their popularity. Musically, the record is their fastest and probably their "freshest" one. It cannot be considered hardcore, but this album stands out among its contemporaries (more influenced by Oi) because of the anger and aggression of the vocals. Their following work was a split LP with RIP (which I think is the first ever Spanish split LP), in which both bands sound pretty similar and share clear political lyrics, even though you can see a strong Discharge influence on RIP.

A year later they released their second record, called Anti-Todo ("Anti-Everything"). The title was not meant to define the band's stance, but rather that of the whole society. Here the drumming is real (on Eskizofrenia they used a drum machine) and they worked much more on the songs; in fact, many regard this one as their best record. After releasing the Impuesto revolucionario live album("Revolutionary Tax"), and the Ya no kedan mas cojones Eskorbuto a las elecciones EP ("There are no more balls, Eskorbuto to the elections"), they released what was probably their most personal album, Los demenciales chicos acelerados ("Speedy Mad Guys").The combined songs on the record supposedly tell a story, creating what they call a "rock-opera", but to be honest, I don't think that even the band really understood the story's plot very well. But what this record does have is songs full of pessimism and unmatched hatred. Here there are no political ideas to defend and no typical street posing, this record just tries to show the dark side of life.After reading their lyrics, it's not hard to understand why two of them found their death through heroin (the biggest enemy of punk), leaving behind the illusions and energy that should be part of every band.

After this record, Eskorbuto's musical career goes steadily downhill, they managed to released two more records with Iosu and Jualma but they were far from the sincere anger discharged in their previous works. Their drummer, the original lineup's sole survivor, assembled other various musicians and kept releasing records under the name Skorbuto. A few months after going out this album, during the follow-up promotional tour, in March of 1992, Iosu leave the band again but health problems. After two months at the hospital, Iosu Expósito died in May 31 of that same year. Pako and Juanma reformed Eskorbuto with a new singer/guitarist Urko Igartiburu and continued working on a new album, but five months later, in October, Juanma pass away. Along with the band La Polla Records, Eskorbuto has been very influential in the Spanish punkrock.

POWERAGE & COMPOS MENTIS - Backlash! EP 1987

Influenced by overseas bands such as Crass, Discharge and Chaos UK, Compos Mentis wrote politically charged songs that critiqued both mainstream New Zealand and the cliquey factions within the alternative music scene. Described by Simon Cottle of Anti-System zine as “New Zealand's ultimate political thrash band” Compos Mentis lasted for a good half of the 1980s at a time when a more politicised punk scene was emerging in Wellington. Compos Mentis began life in 1982 as the short lived Destructive Adolescents, a teenage punk band from the Hutt Valley suburb of Silverstream, formed by Craig and David A.. After the D.A's vocalist quit Peter Stitt and Heather joined the band playing their first gig at Craig's work Christmas do. By all accounts this went down with the largely older audience like a bucket of cold sick and they were forced to stop after a few songs. Shortly after this the band changed it's name to World War III for a brief period before opting for Compos Mentis which translates from Latin as “of sound mind”. Following this Peter left the band due to personality differences and Ben and Sean were recruited into the band briefly. At this time two other members, Simon and Grant, of Hutt Valley band Gotham City joined. The input from these two new members led to a tighter musical direction for the band and during 1986-1987 Compos Mentis released three 7” singles (one here), a tape compilation of early work dating back to 1984 and appeared on a number of compilations. Compos Mentis were a central band in the emergence of an openly politicized anarcho-punk scene that emerged in the 1980s. Songs such as Run for Shelter railed against Nazi-punks while Patricia Bartlett is an inspired rant against Lower Hutt's then self-appointed leader of the 'moral majority'. The band were also active in producing their own zine, Communicade.

Power Age formed in Durban, South Africa in June 1981. The first line-up was Spike (vocals), Brett & Brian (guitars), Dave (bass), Mark Pills (drums) & their first gig was on 3rd October 1981 supporting the Gay Marines. It was their first encounter with the police as well, as Spike got taken in, because some policemen didn't like his pink mohawk. In June '82 Spike arranged a benefit show and 6 punk bands played. The show was a great success. Straight after this show Brian and Dave left. Midge joined on bass and it proved better with one guitar, so it was kept to a four piece. In November '82 Mark left to go live in England. Rubin Rose (previously from South Africa’s first punk band Wild Youth and later Warspike) replaced him immediately and the band really started moving. In April '83 they put out their first 7" release ‘World War III/ Vengeance Of Youth’. At the same time Midge left the band due to musical differences. The band was stagnant for two months until Paddy joined on bass. He was a good friend of the band but had never played before, so it was like starting again. In '84 the two songs off the first 7" were released on the UK compilation ‘Beating The Meat’. At this time in Durban (and the whole of South Africa) the scene was virtually dead - Power Age were the only punk band. In June '84 they played the ‘Punk '84’ show with new bands Wild Justice and State Control. It was a fantastic success and the owner of the venue let them run it for punk shows. Things went well and a good number of bands sprung up and the scene started moving. In June '85 they put out a C-60 tape ‘Who Are You?’ - one side studio, the other live and also succeeded in getting a track ‘System’ onto a French compilation EP entitled ‘Single Ticket To Paradise’. November '85 saw the release of the now legendary 4-track EP ‘Stop Apartheid’ in France by Neg-FX Records. In May '86 the band put out another C-60 tape release ‘Ripe For Terror’. At the same time they did a benefit show for a friend in jail. The venue owner somehow heard that it was a benefit for the ANC, and called the police. The police came, smashed up the gig and it was over. Luckily no one was arrested. Then the saddest moment came... Rubin quit the band in June '86. He had warned he might have to leave due to mounting pressure from his bosses. Peter then joined on drums, but couldn't play, so the band were stagnant again for 3 months. In February '87 they put out the two song 7" tribute to Rubin ‘World Today/Waiting for the War’ (recorded in '84) on their new label Power Noize Records. At the same time Peter left to play with Screaming Foetus and their good friend Choppy replaced him. In April '87 Power Age released a 5-track EP entitled ‘The Last Dove’. June '87 saw the release of the EP ‘Backlash’, a split EP with New Zealand-band Compos Mentis released on Out Of Order Records as well as one track ‘Eat Wheat Not Meat’ on a USA compilation LP entitled ‘The ALF Is Watching And You Can't Escape’. Having played only 77 shows in their 7 year existence Powerage played their last show on the 29th of July 1988. POISEN IDEA - Official Bootleg EP 1991

Proper release by Vinyl Solution/American Leather Records and this four track EP is damn cool and I think most of you know this combo because they released a couple of awesome records. I take over the bio from discogs: Poison Idea was started in 1980 in Portland, Oregon, by vocalist Jerry A. (Lang). Within a year, the band had a solid line-up with drummer Dean Johnson, guitarist Tom Roberts (aka Pig Champion), and bassist Glen Estes. The band was motivated by the Germs and Black Flag, and took their musical cues from bands such as Discharge and SOA. Pushing the speed limits of contemporary punk rock, they played raw and angry hardcore the likes of which had rarely been heard before (or since). Their 1983 debut EP, Pick Your King, is a classic and arguably the best hardcore record ever released. Its subsequent followup, Record Collectors are Pretentious Assholes (featuring Pig Champion's substantial collection on the cover), saw Chris "Tense" replacing Glen on bass. Both were put out on the Fatal Erection label, run by Pig Champion and Malcom Conover from Eugene, Oregon. 

In 1986, Poison Idea released the aptly titled Kings Of Punk album on Pushead's Pusmort label. By this time, the band's sound had changed from manic, breakneck thrash, to a more driving, Motörhead-influenced attack - losing none of their intensity, anger, or nihilism. In the next few years, Poison Idea's lineup (mainly the rhythm section) changed several times. 1987's War All the Time was somewhat of a misstep - nowhere near as powerful as their previous output - although the two EPs released the next year both had good material. 

By 1989, Poison Idea seemed to pull it together; after trouble with record companies and distributors in the past, they started their own label, American Leather, and began by reissuing their 1982 demo. The band recorded the excellent Discontent 7" and also found their most stable lineup in years: Jerry A., Pig Champion, Myrtle Tickner, and Thee Slayer Hippie (although the second guitarist seemed to switch between "Mondo" and Aldine Strichnine). In 1990 they released the classic Feel The Darkness album, successfully combining (where so, so many others had failed) the best elements of hardcore and hard rock for a dark, powerful sound. In the next three years they put out several more records - two more full-lengths, a string of 7"s, and an LP collection of all covers. When Pig Champion decided to leave the band in 1993, Poison Idea called it quits. However, a few years later in 1996, the band briefly reformed and recorded a 7" for Taang!, who also reissued (again) most of their early catalog. An aborted tour in 1997 saw another breakup, but the band is currently back together again playing local shows, and has recently toured the US and Europe.

IMPACT & EU'S ARSE - Split EP 1983

Superb split EP from the european mediterranean boot. The first side kicks off with Impact from Ferrara and together with Raw Power, Rappresaglia and Stigmathe, they belong to the pillars of the Italian hardcore scene. In business throughout the eighties, the group broke up at the beginning of the nineties, after the last publications, in which they had undergone a change of sound that disappointed the fans and partly also the same members of the group but they back with a series of concerts, Paul Root (vocals), Stefano "Janz" Ragazzi (guitars), Bistek (bass) and Alberto "Gigo" Gigante (drums). In 1983 they started collaborating with Eu's Arse, which results in this self-produced Split EP. On these recordings 'Infa' appears for the first time on the mic & they earned positive reviews of the San Francisco Maximumrocknroll fanzine, which monthly held a column on the international hardcore scene. In 1984 they were then invited by Dave Dictor from MDC to participate in the double P.E.A.C.E. Benefit compilationIn 1985 Impact released via Chaos Produzioni their debut Solo Odio with ten energetic, political smasher, today one of the most representative of Italian hardcore. In the ensuing tour, the group followed various changes of formation that found stability with the passage of Bistek to the voice and the entry of Diego Fabbri, previously a member of Total Disarmament. Two 7Inches followed, 1990 the second album Tutto Tace but record does not receive the approval of the previous ones, triggering a spiral that will lead the group to the dissolution in 1992.

Eu's Arse from Udine were formed in the early eighties and together with Upset Noise they were among the most important groups of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia scene. The band take their name from the name assigned to the Italian punks from European and English punks, and consisted of Stefano (vocals), Teo (guitars), Gianluca (bass) and Luca (drums). In 1982 they participated in the Spring Offensive festival at the Virus Social Center in Milan, then immediately publishing their first EP Lo Stato Ha Bisogno Di Te? Bene, Fottilo. The record was supported by the New Fahrenheit fanzine. In 1983 this split EP. In a review of Maximumrocknroll describes the sound as "a combination of repetitive Discharge matrix riffs combined with an unpleasant sounding voice reminiscent of a poet in the throes of furious madness". After a long tour and numerous training changes, the group broke up in 1985. So that's the story, now music!

HUVUDTVÄTT & PICNIC BOYS - Split EP 1981

Huvudtvätt existed from 1981-1984 and were formed by brothers Mats and Torulf Nilsson. After the demise of Sundsvall's famous (and orthodox) punk band Massmedia in 1980, the two brothers moved to Linköping to study and they were eager to play again. It was originally planned as a solo project by Mats, but it resulted in Huvudtvätt (HT). With new influences from the US hardcore scene and England’s Discharge, they step towards in a wild/tougher style and they were noticed in the clubs. All the song titles have a cleaning theme and the ambiguous lyrics were humorous but serious at the same time. The band also appeared as Headcleaners, whose name came from a cleaning cassette and their music was as rough as HT, but the social critical English words were written primarily by Janne and they released one or two 7Inches via the Uppsala label Malign Massacre. On stage Huvudtvätt only performed once during their career. - From the Picnic Boys came the B-Side with two classic KBD tunes. They were a three piece combo (also Sundsvall) and that's all info I have for you. These both tracks are damn cool and I think this is all they pressed on vinyl. Unfortunately, I think a full length would become a killer LP.
