V/A - Staring Down The Barrel 2006

💥 Fine unofficial platte which came in blue, red & yellow vinyl is called "A Compilation Of Sixteen U.S. Punk Unknowns 1979 - 1983" and that makes curious. 💥 Sixteen largely unknown bands invite us for pogo and show what they can, and that's delicious (I love that shit). 💥 Every band made at least one single and shortly afterwards disappeared into the deep, endless long black darkness, reason enough to breathe a little life into all. 💥 Excellent prepared and tasteful served with useful infos about the songs/bands on the back cover. 💥 What more you must know? Nothing more! 💥 You know what you're getting here and now I'm only interested in the upcoming weekend. 💥 Enjoy The Music!! 💥

1.Sorry About That Chief! - MIND GAMES
2.You Hippy - UNKNOWN SOCIETY
3.One Step Further - URBAN GORILLA

WEICH! - Engelsruh 1996

A bit of nostalgia comes over me with the next record and the year it was released was one of the best in my earth years to date. Time for a further local combo and therefore I would like to present you one of the most likeable people, nice contemporaries and steadfast drinkers and famous for their funny performances. From Frankfurt for you I proudly present: Weich! (Cheers!!) and I had a lot of fun with Witsch (bass), Packo (drums), El Carsto (guitar) and Fopper (guitar) and this is their only release and they've taken out a small masterpiece. Decent German punk with funny lyrics, partly sung in English and accompanied by aggressive fast, rough and wild noises - sounds like a record of the 80's. The album is named after a street here in Frankfurt, if anyone is interested. Also worth mentioning the terrific artwork where everyone can see already that the band takes life not too seriously. Many wet gigs were played and it was always big fun with lots of beer until dawn. Their message is clear: Have Fun! And that's exactly convey the fantastic four with this album. They broke up in 1999, I think. Fopper moved away to Karlsruhe, Witsch plays today in the ska combo Friendly Fire. So enjoy this firework with massive hits.

DISASTER AREA - Die On Your Board 1986

In 1979, the later members were in the process of developing their skate skills on the concrete surfaces of the Berlin district of Märkisches Viertel, known as the ghetto. A trip to London with the Berlin Skate Club led to contacts with the punk scene. This resulted in the connection between skating and punk music for the band. In the winter of 1980/81 they began to rehearse as C&A (Chaos & Turmoil) in a boiler room. Under this name they played their first concerts with the Suurbiers (from which Die Ärzte later emerged) and die deutsche Trinkerjugend. In 1984 they were inspired by the "Loudest Band in the Universe" appearing in the series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and renamed themselves Disaster Area. In the same year they produced two tracks for a split single with the band Die Schlimmen Finger on the Berlin label Pogar. The debut Die On Your Board was created in just three days 1986 and after a record review in MaxiMumRocknroll, the band received more and more concert inquiries. In 1987 Disaster Area played for the first time at the skate contest in Münster, where they appeared regular since then. In 1988 the second album Back From The Reservation came out and is stylistically more influenced by hardcore punk. The song 'Skate Tonight' from the first single was also newly recorded. In 1988 Oli suffered an eardrum injury from feedback at the Skate'N'Roll Festival and left the band. Frusti became the new drummer, and Norman joined as second guitarist. In 1989 they took part in the Berlin Senat Rock Competition and made it to the finals.

In 1990, the third album Cut The Line came through Bonzen Records and the Ox wrote at the time: “Germany's Skate Punk Band No.1". This was followed by a tour with the Badtown Boys and a live album, recorded at SO36 in Berlin. Norman switched from guitar to snowboard and Domi became the new guitarist. Shred Ready is the band's fourth album and for the first time, metal borrowings were clearly heard in the music. The guitarist received a postcard from Marty Friedman of Megadeth with the words: “It Rocks! The fun of the Ramones with cool lead guitar, too. Keep up the good work! ". In 1994 Disaster Area played as the opening act for The Offspring and in December the same year made a ten-day tour through ten Berlin concert halls to mark its tenth anniversary. In 1996 Domi switched to the metal band Orth and Disaster Area continued as four piece. The new songs became much more melodic and the Powder EP was released the same year. The next album Slam Section was released in 1998 on the metal label Noise Records by Karl Walterbach. At the end of a tour with CIA (Ex-Slime) and several concerts with Millencolin followed. In 1999 Tom, who had previously played in Mr. Ed Jumps The Gun joined the band. Tom already knew Disaster Area back in 1984. He had played guitar on the split single for Die Schlimmen Finger. A tour with California punx The Line followed and for the 20th anniversary of the band the last album Forever was released.

BIZEX-B - En Våldtäkt I Vinyl 1983

Second album by this four piece from Gävle on Rebel Records, pressed in 300 copies but most of the vanished in a fire, so if you own the original record you have a small treasure. The debut Vi Lever! was astonishingly solid and these seventeen songs spray refreshingly out of the speakers so that the band decided to split up before the release. Bizex-B was formed 1980 inspired by the punk revolution, they immediately caught attention to the local scene. The bandname was never intended as any kind of sexual statement. "Bizex" was just a joke that made fun of the traditional Swedish "dansband" Wizex (very bland & popular). "B" stood for "bössa", the local slang for playing fast or having a ball (or both). Bizex-B was, by all standards, exceptional and an unforgottable experience. Punk poetry in motion and good, clean fun. The world has rarely seen anything as radical. All songs here were recorded nonstop at a chaotic session that lasted only eight hours before producer and recording engineer called the session to a halt. One of the members of the band reputedly was so drunk that he, still today, hardly remembers the recordings at all... In 2007 the band came back together, played some gigs, mainly in the Gävle region, and released two more records.

V/A - Kiwi By Death (NZ Punk Rarities 1977-1983) 2010

Hello March and we stay in Oceania and come to new old stuff from an pseudo "label" which made limited CD-R compilations in very small editions (mostly 50 copies & with a small but useful booklet) with rare Punk classics worldwide. As you can easily see, this edition is dedicated to the musical orgasms of New Zealand, and most of the songs are almost all represented on other relevant compis and you can ask, who needs that? I would say why not. Since most of the slabs are no longer accessible (as a side note, many records are offline, at least in my blog) and the selcetion is different as well and I can promise you, this one is high explosive! I like the music from there and the scene was pretty broad with good bands and I recommend you visit audioculture for more infos about New Zealand's subculture.

ROCKS - Combat Zone 1994

Only album by Rocks on Kangaroo Records and it took a long time for the band to become active again. In 1978 they brought their legendary You'r So Boring EP on Point Blank Records (500 copies) out and and set with that an astonishing exclamation point, 1995 re-issued as CD with bonus tracksI first came in contact with them through Tepid Spit Artists, an unofficial tape compilation what I acquired from Incognito Records. Short basics: "Rocks, please, never put a “The” in front, were Sydney based Punx which started its life as a three piece in 1976 with childhood friends Bill Webb (a.k.a. Bill Posters) Drums/Lead Vocals, Peter Davie Guitar/Vocals and Steve Vanderschoot Bass/Lead Vocals. Having jammed together after school and on weekends and with their love for early 70’s rock surging through their veins, it was no surprise they would turn to Punk as they forged ahead finding a style to become a band. When bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols came along, it was obvious what they had become and they would go on to be one of Sydney’s best loved Punkrock bands..." Combat Zone is twenty-two times fresh sound combined with catchy melodies. Rocks are still active and occur at irregular intervals here and there somewhere. Enjoy the album & the warm rays of the sun with a cold beer.

AGGRESSIVA KOSTYMER - s/t 7'' 2014

A real rarity is this 7Inch by a combo from Norrköping which had a short lifespan, 1978-1981, and left few recordings. A bit info from punktjafs: Aggressiva Kostymer was formed in summer 1978 at Café Röda Tuppen, a gathering place for lost Peking punks, progs and other lost people. The basic set was Per (vocals/guitar), Johan (guitar), Undertaker (bass) and Kryddan (drums). Undertaker leave and Peter came in, Kryddan also left the band shortly afterwards and was replaced by Micke. The band focused to play live as much as possible, mostly in Central Sweden. It was popular at this time to record at least one single, but not for them, "Live" it would be, that was real Punk for the band. But despite this, they paid a visit to a studio in Norrköping in the spring of 1979, which resulted in at least the songs "Plastkärlek" and "19 År" were taped. These two cannon songs lay and collected dust until Slyngel Rekords finally released them on vinyl in 2014 in an edition of 300 copies. Aggressiva Kostymer hung off their jackets in 1981, with the flag at the top. Two superb blasts!

ROTTING CARCASS & WUT - Split EP 1985

Brilliant split 12'' by two great bands on More Fun Records in yellow multicoloured vinyl. First Wut with their "Alles Schon Mal Gesehen-Alles Schon Mal Gehört!" side and all five songs are among the best, what the band, Schetty (vocals), Olli (guitars), Holger (bass) & Jörg (drums), ever recorded: angry, aggressive, energetic and bombastic noises in a perfect fat soundNothing is missing, top grade! The dance continue by "...Their Last Testament", the Rotting Carcass side, a four piece which were formed 1982 in Kempten by Batz & Hesse (vocals/bass), Tommy (guitars), Kurty (drums) and after a successful tour with the Toy Dolls in 1985 they parted ways. Their five songs are pure pogosmasher, wild and snotty, catchy and easy flammable. In 1995, Six Pack Records brought their complete 1984 studio session on vinyl, partly hand-numbered editions. Great record by two bands who speaks an offensive language.

V/A - Times Still Here EP 2002

Buckle up people, now comes a cool little round unique item, a useful Portuguese Straight Edge compilation from Best Times Records with six bands and it gets fast, loud and noisy. I can't tell you much about the bands but that makes the great insert that has all the information ready, band members, lyrics and liner notes from the makers. Absolute hardcore slab that blows out nine attacks in fifteen minutes. I think, I bought the EP on a record fair many years ago, on the one hand because of the cool cover, on the other I was interested in SE sound from Portugal, I don't often find stuff from this country. I would say, it was worth it. Enjoy!

1.I'll Be With You - DAY OF THE DEAD
2.Invincible Upon The Pedestal - DAY OF THE DEAD
3.Girls Are Not Weak - THROUGH THESE EYES
4.The Real Judas Syndrome - NEW WINDS
5.Mad Rats - MAD RATS
6.You've Killed! - MAD RATS
7.Never Let It Slow - FIGHT FOR CHANGE
8.White, Red And Blue - TIME X
9.Once And For All - TIME X

THE SEIZE - Everybody Dies EP 1982

Second 7Inch by the Seize on Why Not? Records and here at work Colin (vocals/bass), Ross & Tim (guitars), Chewy (drums). Four catchy pieces and a short review: It's been a long time since their first single and the SEIZE haven't come out of the garage yet. In the great tradition of slam, crash, and slobber, this EP has a nasty edge and should be played at high volume. Four great ditties are included, but "In For Me" is the standout track. (Ruth Sschwartz, MMR #3, Nov. 1982) - More hearing orgasms of the four in the blog.
