FORD'S FUZZ INFERNO - Fuzz The Universe! EP 2022

This is the last part of the 7Inch triology by Ford’s Fuzz Inferno, the Dutch duo who like to upset their neighbors and ours. This time it took a long time to rip the record due to various fatigue on my part and lack of time; but today, on the first day of July, I'm banging these four Fuzzies on your ears, and believe me, they let every deaf hear again. A few fuzzy words from the Inferno itself:

Hello boys & girls. A long time ago, when Mr. Hans + Mr. Patrick were still very young, there was neither space nor time. There was nothing and it was pretty cool. Then Mr. Hans + Mr. Patrick heard a big bang and suddenly there were suns and moons and stars flying around like crazy, with no sense of direction whatsoever. This is called the universe. The universe is extremely boring and badly organized. It has no value and no purpose. Fortunately Mr. Hans and Mr. Patrick live on planet earth, which is somewhere else. Planet earth rules, the universe sucks and aliens are stupid and ugly. That’s why Mr. Hans + Mr. Patrick decided to call their third EP Fuzz The Universe!. It makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?! Of course the songs are totally awesome, so play them as loud and often as possible! Fuzz On!

A Review: "The music here is really driven by the roaring guitar. It sets the pace for the rhythm section rather than vice versa. It’s big, static-y, and yes, “fuzzy.” The band injected a few trad Rock’N’Roll elements: notes running down the scale and the occasional tamborine. The medieval imagery on this release (and all their others) adds a fun, out of left-field vibe to the music. (Dov Malzberg, MRR #468 • May 2022)

Well, finally a few own words: Mega!

The Book Of Fuzz - Selected Verses (Part 1) with all the EP’s + a bonus lullaby is as CD available. I really hope that wasn't the end of the journey and that the return from the universe will follow. We will see.

V/A - Trouble With A Capital T (1980s Punk & Underground Music From Florida's Capital City) 2018

End of June and we're closing this sunny month with a wonderful compilation from Panhandle Punk Productions500 copies were pressed on red vinyl and it includes a two-sided insert with band infos, liner notes and an essay by CA Productions co-founder George Barker. A small entry from backcover: In the Eighties Punk wasn't just infecting big cities, even a little sleepy college town in north Florida caught the bug. This collection delivers a treasure trove of vintage. Tallahassee Punk and underground music, much of it previously unreleased. It documents how during the reagen years something unexpected happened in a small southern town better known for state workers and college football than a counter-culture music scene: Trouble With A Capital T. Well, in principle everything is said with these few words, I would like to add most of the songs were taken from rare demos and rare 7Inches, the quality is consistently top and the artwork deserves full attention. An eloquent release with adequate bands/songs. Perfect in every way & a must have!

DEPRAVED - Come On Down 1985

There are records, that definitely belong to those that you absolutely must have heard in your short life, Depraved's debut is one of those. A few why, where, when:

Ian & Gigs, two young Punks from Leamington Spa, began their first clumsy attempts at playing loud music back in 1982. Ian tried his hand at singing and Gigs, who had previously played guitar in another up-and-coming band, sold all his junk guitars and bought a drum set and began learning percussion. The first line-up: Ian (vocals), his brother Lee played guitar, Gigs (drums) and Ian (bass). In March 1984 they recorded their first four-song demo. Their sound was heavily influenced by American Hardcore, which they mixed with the spirit of the typical UK82, resulting in an excellent power sound that differs significantly from their British counterparts. Also, the Depraved got into the 60's and even started using a synthesizer. They finally recorded their debut in 1985 (first released only on cassette), but a deal with COR Records re-issued Come On Down on vinyl. The album received mostly positive feedback and became a minor classic. In 1986 the guys recorded their second album Stupidity Maketh The Man, which is a bit more experimental, the psychedelic style of the sixties can be heard unmistakably but they manage this without losing their punk roots.

Depraved toured the UK and Europe extensively and after that Ian left the band and Spencer replaced him. In 1988 the guys decided to rename themselves Visions Of Change. In 1988 they recorded the first album which is considered by many to be the group's best work. Soon Spencer and Gigs left the band. With their departure, the group lost its integrity and former enthusiasm (Gigs was a founding member, songwriter and a vital link). With new musicians, the band recorded their last album and ceased activities. An excerpt from an interview with Ian Murphy: “To be honest our main legacy is that we organized many concerts for foreign bands around the UK and in our city in particular back then. We've been able to get most of our favorite bands to play here. For me personally this is much more important than anything we recorded ourselves. We were part of a huge worldwide HardcorePunk community. And I'm not just talking about our band, I'm talking about all the people who have helped us and who have been with us!"

And now, I wish you an absolute listening pleasure with twelve fantastic songs that I am sure you will like as much as I do.

SO MUCH HATE - How We Feel 1987

All right Friends, today there's no fucking, today I rip great stuff and the next record is the debut by Oslo's So Much Hate on X-Port Plater and the band name alone is alluring to me like a sweetie with slim legs in Nylons and just as sharp and energetic are the sixteen Hardcore/Punk goodies that make it onto this record. No trace of cheap clichés, on the contrary, it is blown into a furious attack on your musculoskeletal system that demands mercy, but you can't help it. You're floating in a bubble of aggression and anger and want to let everything out. Do It! Because you know there's no other way, but beware! This album is not suitable for long-haired hippies. The sun shines and it's a feast at the Opernplatz and I wanna see what's going on there, meet me again tomorrow.

BAD RELIGION - Suffer 1988

Back With A Bang! You can say this without hesitation. After a five-year break and their foray Into The Unknown 'ProgRock' business, which was more a bummer, they returned to a somewhat mellower Rock&Roll version of their original sound with the Back To The Known EP (1985), but disbanded temporarily soon after. It was time to think and Bad Religion remembered what they can do best; writing short meaningful melodic energy Punk anthems and Suffer is the essence of it all and came out at the end of the Eighties, a time when HC/Punk was beginning to sprout and no wonder many critics praised the album as a Hardcore Milestone. Thirty-six versions of this slab confirm its popularity and my copy is the second press, I think. My review is short and sweet: I love this record, the only manko is the short playing time, but half an hour of Pogo makes you feel alive and on course again, and Greg's haunting voice pierces your body and bounces from the wall back at you. My absolute favorite is Do What You Want with its fast, dynamic, no-frills riffs and awesome lyrics, a fucking lightning strike of finest California Punkrock. Shit, why am I writing so much anyway? Buy this little fucker because you need this listening pleasure for REAL, and not those shitty uninspired digital files.

PITFALL - Separation EP 1981

Four piece from the Holland with their only record on Re-Records, we're talking about Pitfall from Wijk Bij Duurstede, a tranquil little town south of Utrecht, and they consisted of Haiko (vocals/bass), André (guitars), Corina (bass/vocals), Frans (drums) and in 1980 they released a C60 Tape via Finger In The Dyke, together with Six Minute War and this fucker contains thirty-one blasts which were recorded live by two concerts each band. I guess only a few know about the existence of this bloody cassette and so almost nobody reached this little work of art, including me. Seperation isn't a wavebreaker but a nice record with five goodies with female/male vocals and I like that. Compilations featuring the band: Cumstains Over My Record CollectionUtreg Punx 1978-1982Here we go...

ŠVINDL - Falešný Zprávy EP 2018

Another exotic discovery is the following combo: Švindl. A young combo from Litomerice, Czech Republic and the boys play refreshing mid-tempo punk and this is their second EP with five cocktails which are available for free on their bandcamp site. The reason I'm posting them here? Well, good new Punkrock is rare these days and this young band deserves attention in my opinion. On the one hand they do their job excellently, on the other hand, who ever looks at the Czech Republic? I honestly don't. Their musical outpourings are only available digitally, no vinyl. Apparently it's difficult to find a label, which may be due to the Czech lyrics, but that's exactly what I find very charming, I don't understand anything, but I concentrate more on their sound and that kicks ass, really recommendedCheck them out, it's worth!

ETON CROP - Timmy Barker Is A Coward 7'' 1980

A band that's completely new to me is Eton Crop, and since they don't tend to indulge in the dirty sound, that's probably fine too. A bit of info from the web: Inspired by British bands such as the Fall and the Undertones the band were formed 1979 in Nieuwkoop by Erwin (vocals/guitar), Ron (guitars), Corné (bass), Peter (organ) and Ed (drums) and they started to release a split cassette (with Pistache BV) full of punk pop with an experimental slant. They released a total of twelve singles and four albums over the next fifteen years. Frequent visitors to the UK, they toured with many of the "pre-C86" groups like The Membranes and The Three Johns, the latter with whom they shared a not too dissimilar musical approach. While many groups from that era downed tools towards the end of the decade, Eton Crop battled on into the mid-nineties, their last full length album, Get Real!, appearing in 1992, eventually bowing out in 1994 with the four track EP Everybody. The band later changed their name to the E.C. Groove Society and started producing techno music until 2003. Recently the band reformed under Eton Crop and performed in Stockton, County Durham at the Peel Regenerated Festival in 2014. Well, two small pieces on this, why not?

- Great Thx to Fredrik -

INGE VAL - Anti Parlamentarisk Rebellrock EP 1979

We're staying in Sweden and today I'm not going swimming because I'm going back to Frankfurt soon. This four piece, probably from Stockholm, released a small five track EP on Sista Bussen in the late seventies and the line-up was Ante (vocals & bass), Annika & Christian (guitars), Lennart (drums & vocals) and this is a nice KBD record and more infos are not available. But you can get more about Inge Val; a few liner notes waiting on the back but your swedish must be good for thisOtherwise there is quite a bit of compilation material from the four and I guess the band broke up in the early Eighties and merged into other relevant combos. Maybe at this point a subtle hint to the Wanted-List.... someone must have this fucking stuff, sharing is the motto. Now write a couple of Emails and play a little Backgammon, the last four days haven't been pleasant for me. El Skalmo Mi So Gonzlos!

BRACKMANGLARNA - Popnissar EP 2015

Before I go back to the swimming lake today, another highlight from Slyngel Rekords, and number 010 is dedicated to a three piece from Linköping named Brackmanglarna and this bloody sucker was pressed 300 times. All three smashers were recorded in 1980 and the band consisted to my knowledge of Magnus (vocals/guitars), Johan (bass), Jan (drums) nd they made it to a record, so the detectives contact the band and they found this little three numbers at least. Excellent KBD Punk and again once more a band from the fundus of lost swedish delicacies. It's already twenty-four degrees, I'll go right away and swim a bit and I hope you also have the opportunity to jump into cool water and tonight there is trout with delicious butter potatoes, I love this dish. 🎵🐟 🌞 Life Is Great!
