"Undistorted guitar, melodic bass, intelligent lyrics, for the Hamburg punk scene really an amazing project. Listen!" So a description I found and what we talkin' about is the debut record on Konnekschen records by this fantastic HH-combo. Three fine '77 punk goodies with slightly perverse funny lyrics, the band name says it all. The first, the title track, is a nice melodic tune with a decent tempo. Track two surprised with a deep synthie backtone, sounds a bit NDW style but with the fat bass-line and the damn good lyrics are but miles away. The last one is a nugget, a stomper which seeks its equal, "Titten Titten Titten", a perfect refrain, haha... a year later they released their only album 'Beat Und Glück' and then they disappeared. Great German KBD Punk!

KÖTTGROTTORNA - Jag Idealist 7'' 1985
Third 7inch on Sista Bussen by Köttgrottorna, a Swedish combo which was formed 1983 and they seem very popular in Sweden because they have a lot of records out. On this little 45er are two decent powerful goodies and they use the stereo effect fully, one guitar on the right, the other one left, sounds especially in the second number amazingly cool with the Ska undertone and the mourner to another, all very melodic and with tempo. Very nice and I think I've got even more. They're still active, try a listen.

RONNIE URINI - Child Of Sunrise-Creature Of The Moon 7'' 1985
Ronnie Urini is an Austrian musician, composer and song writer. His first band, Vogue where he was the drummer, took the Sixties revival and Britpop in Austria in advance. Since 1978 he plays in a lot of alternative and underground bands (including Kleenex Aktiv, Willi Warma, Ronnie Urini & the Last Poets, Ronnie Urini & Venus). He interprets his own songs again and again re-used in popular English-language hits like "Summer Wine". His performances are often wild and known that it entered into direct contact with the audience, to supplies them with heated word duels. Ronnie Urini is one of the exceptional characters of the Austrian alternative & punk scene, and his records are nowadays often much sought and highly expensive. Here are two songs, one in german the other in english, which moved more into rock or what we called today alternativ with a little touch of gothic atmosphere (especially the b-side is a lovely ballad). I add the 'Black Light, Black Cities' 7inch with in. All quite charmin' & nice.

COPY CATS - Vampirella 10'' 2000
Mainhatten strikes back. For years, the Copy Cats from Frankfurt inspire the whole fuckin' republic again and again with great concerts. Their glam punkrock '77 style creates always an excellent atmosphere and a terrific evening is guaranteed. After two singles they have with 'Vampirella' their first mini-LP released in the form of a 10'' on Sick Wreckords and offers nine snappy masterpieces of solid punk rock'n'roll which burns the sky and awakens all present prisoners. Full speed playin', sometimes baladesk, sometimes trendy and Silke is still hot, puhhhhhh... - A pure party album with damn good covers, worth mentioning Car Crash from the Avengers and the legendary Vampirella by Cocks In Stained Satin, great garage rock with sleezy girl group vocal action and if this doesn't kick your ass then I don't know.
DREAM POLICE - In Combat EP 1986
Well this rare piece of wax was for a long time on my Wanted-List and I don't know who sent this in but many many thx: Dream Police was established 1978 in Århus/Denmark. At that time, the band was under heavy influence of the english punk scene, two tracks on the Pære Punk compilation from 1979 include the punkiest songs the band has ever released under the name Dream Police. During the years members have been in and out, but Johnny Concrete seems to be the holder of the spirit. The band has adjusted to styles over the years, and some of the material has a more heavy metal style. The sound of today is more hybrid agressive, and you might see them live in Denmark. Overall, the band released three EP's and their debut 12'' called "Demise" from 1981. They're present on further compilations, noteworthy is the Hardcore Vol.1 on Starving Missile from 1988 with their fantastic song 'Rudolf Hess'. So all four songs are okay and even if they're very heavy metal the band have their roots in punk rock. Green vinyl on No Aarhus Records, megarare and now in the right place.
MESK - Demo 1980
From this band exists only this demo tape which they released in a small edition and two songs from the Värning For Punk, a three CD compilation which was released in 1994 at Distortion Records. Mesk were from Stockholm and were active from 1979 - 1982. They offer four decent '77 punk numbers. I add the two songs from the comp. to that and that's all for now. The next hard working day is on and I have to leave soon. The cover for this is not the original, done by myself, better than nothing...anyway

SURGERY - Not Going Down 7'' 1989
Surgery was a scummy, no-holds-barred, blues-drenched post-hardcore band from Manhattan's lower east side, that included Sean McDonnell (vocals), Scott Kleber (guitar), John Lachapelle (bass) and John Leamy (drums). Signed to the noisy Amphetamine Reptile label, the band fit right in and made their full-length debut in 1991 with Nationwide. They became part of the feeding frenzy that occurred in the wake of the major label signings of Nirvana and Helmet and they made the hop to the WEA-distributed Atlantic for 1994's Shimmer. The closest, the band got to notoriety in the mainstream sense was when MTV's 120 Minutes program played that album's "Off the A-List" a couple times (not that the band cared). On January 18, 1995, McDonnell passed away, he lost the battle with asthma complications. Saddened by their loss, the remaining members of the band decided to quit. On this single two hardpunkasfuckasskicker for you.

KINA - Troppo Lontano EP 1986
This is the first 7inch by Italians anarchist combo Kina, released on BluBus Records with three rough Hardcore/Punk smasher. The group was formed in December '82, the first concert in January '83. From the beginning, very active in the Italian anarchist punk circuit, they have the chance 'to play in many social centers all over Italy. In the summer of '84 takes place on the first tour in Germany swiftly followed by a second in December of the same year. In the spring of '84 Blue Bus Records was founded. The label was made up of the ideas and the money of two groups: Kina and Franti. Here comes a friendship and collaboration that lasts to this day though in different forms. "I really hope you do not just sit there and waiting to come out the next record of some other unknown group. Don't be a consumer!!! That world of faceless beings around us knows consume is everything: cars, ice cream, new faces, student movements and radical parties. They know how to market and squeeze money from everyone (and I'm not saying that we are excluded). This record (like many others released in Italy in recent years) wants to be a demonstration that may still exist freedom of speech and expression. The condition is to know how to create. No one will encourage you never to say what you think, in fact, also try to eliminate you the ability to think. Raise your head, you hear your scream as far as possible. Want to kill us, we shake hands with those around us, we are counting, let us look in the eyes, perhaps we are the last to believe that "those who are" one day win of "those who have. Do not let's allow to close the curtain." More of Kina's music here on this both compilations and feel free to get in touch while listen to this little pearl!
IXTOC-1 - Gut Ist Was Modern Ist 12'' 1982
Founded in 1979, all puzzled year along for their band name and no one got the link through to appointment of an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, whiches burned weeks ahead. IXTOC-1 were part of the scene at the Kreuzberg KZ36 with all the ups & downs, but while many of the other KZ36 bands not musically surprised, developed IXTOC-1 as a tough core router & that time certainly the fastest-board of West-Berlin. This 12'' is partly full fast punkrock and with the great reggae/dub piece called 'Leben' is a real cracker on it, in my opinion a classic record. The band broke up in 1985 after becoming too much pop and they lost some interest. In memory they remain as one of the first and best of all Berlin Punk bands.

WASTELAND - Want Not EP 1979 + Leave Me Alone 7'' 1980
Another lost punk juwel are these both 7inches and I would like to give you some info grom the great Bored Teenagers site for which I'm grateful because I myself find nothing about this outstanding band:
A rare and obscure UK punk band from outta Canterbury/Whitstable, Kent. Originally called The Infested' who even got their forth coming release advertised in the Zig Zag' independent listings but sadly the band split before the EP was released. This fooled collectors for many years and regularly appeared on "wants lists" from all around the world. After the band had split, two bands formed out of the ashes, Wasteland & The Ignerents. Ben Challis formed The Ignerents while is brother 'Tig' was the drummer in 'Wasteland'. The bands debut release was a 3-track EP and featured the excellent track Ono. The next release was a slight change in direction, Tony Tarrats left and was replaced by Becky Gale. The a-side took on a punk back drop with a more of a pop feel with Becky's vocals while the b-side is a frenzied instrumental complete with keyboards and a violin of all instruments!!! Sadly, this was the bands last release and is nearly impossible to find as only 500 copies were pressed & the band only sold 150 copies at the time. After speaking to the parents of ‘Tig Challis’ they told us that they had dumped the remaining 350 copies in the early 90s after finding them in a wardrobe during a spring clean!!
After the band had split, 'Tig' then went off to university in Sheffield. On returning back to Kent after he had graduated, ‘Tig’ was involved in a very serious motorbike accident which left him confined to a wheelchair with brain damage. He lived out the rest of his life in Spain where the weather was more suited to his live style but sadly died in 2009.
Bizarrely, his brothers band The Ignerents ended when drummer Stan Gretsch died in a car crash after taking and driving a stolen car!!!
All in all five great kbd smasher and on compilations Back To Front Vol. 3, Powerpearls Vol. 9 and Shake Some Action Vol. 8. They deserve all your attention and now I have to get ready because today it's matchday versus VfB.
