RESTIVE BOYS - Die Wende EP 1983

Oh my god, this record reminds me to my beloved Girl everytime when I listen to it......I will spare me further fucking words.

This was on my Wanted-List for years and I'm happy to have this finally..... here we go: "The drama began in the 60's as four tragic miscarriages the downfall of Western civilization initiated." So see The Restive Boys ironically themselves on their first EP (more detailed infos in the file, though in German). And Yes, they play a straight melodic punk sound with English lyrics. Founded in the early wild punk days in Lübeck, they play together for a year and they collected all their musical experiences and won the 1st place at a amateur rock competition in Schleswig-Holstein. They work further on their particular style and in 1983 they released the debut EP on their own label Restive Records with five excellent punkrock pearls. It's amazing how playful the boys are and dominate their instruments. I love this record, this exactly my taste. In 1986 follows the "Where's All The Hope?" single and two years later the only full length under the bandname The Rest Of The Boys called Days Weeks & Years with ten more classic melodic killers! For me a completely underrated band and I agree with Donot Duck "...even after 30 years still refreshingly genuine and authentic." Now the rampage can begin.

LES ABLETTES - Un Amour Propre 7'' 1980

One more from the Wanted-List is this superb 7inch. Les Ablettes were fromed in Fumel, Lot-Et-Garonne in France 1980 as Les Ablettes Masquées and were active Active from 1980 to 1993. The trio released a lot of 7inches and three albums. Here we have two excellent goodies, the a side comes with a fresh mid-tempo track in while the flip is the punkier one and the better track. After various changes in the line-up and more than 1000 concerts, Les Ablettes broke definitively in 2000.

MONOMANIA - I'm Weird 7'' 1979

Ultra-rare Danish weirdo punk stuff from 1979 on Better Day Records. From the Danish Wikipedia site: “Monomania (also known as Mono Mania, ca. 1979-80) was a Danish experimental pop-punk/rock band consisting of members Peter Peter (guitar, vocals, also including Sods and Sort Sol), Pussy Punk (vocal, aka Kate Svanholm, also in Sofamania and Lost Kids), Eddie Haircut (drums, aka Milan Balsgaard, including Brats and Elektrochok), Vicious Decay (Ann-Christine Gløet, Elektrochok) and Sniff Høkerberg (bass, also in Brats and Support).” All those mentioned bands you can visit on the awesome Bloodstains Across Denmark Compilation. The title track is a pretty strange monotonic sound confusion which makes you listen to after a long period absolutely crazy, between in continuous intervals a 'I'm weird' and the gear into the mental hospital is safe, the flip is a short electro KBD number which is also crazy and fuckin' brilliant. This is damn good stuff and a rare bastard of a record.

JELLO BIAFRA + THE MELVINS - Music Hall/Cologne 20.06.2005

In 2005 Jello Biafra came with the Melvins for three gigs to Germany. And here we have a phenomenal impression from the show in cologne. It's not my rip and I will give this to you because why not. Amazing Jello's performance and I remember the gig here in summer 2010 or 2011 when I joined this amazing show with my precious Love in the Batschkapp (R.I.P.) with his new band the Guantanamo School Of Medicine and he shows us: "I'm Not Quiet, I'm Alive!!!". What should I write?? This man is a nuclear bomb and a icon in the whole punk scene. The recording quality is pretty good and it's always a pleasure to hear something new from the ex-DK frontman. Enjoy!!!

X - Motel Room In My Bed 7'' 1982

From my Wanted List now this 7inch which was released only as a promo one. Both songs are included on their third album Under The Big Black Sun. X formed in 1977 inside the L.A. punk scene. Charismatic vocalists John Doe and Exene Cervenka were joined by drummer DJ Bonebrake and guitarist Billy Zoom. The first four albums of the band were produced by ex-Doors Ray Manzarek, who also played keyboard on some of the songs. The band released seven studio albums from 1980 to 1993. After a period of inactivity during the mid to late 1990s, X reunited in the early 2000s, and currently tours. Side A is a classic dynamic punk tune as I like it, the flip gives us a fine ballad. Quick & Dirty!!!! And now it's time for soccer.

TOO MUCH - Kick Me One More Time EP 1979

This superb and fuckin' rare EP was released in a gatefold sleeve on Lightning Recods and it's the last record by this great combo from the UK. Their first one "Who You Wanna Be" from 1978 is a killer too. First, this is not my rip and I'm not satisfied with the finish but who cares? - Too Much were John (vox), Russ (guitar), Dick (bass) and Dave (drums) and they play a fine melodic early punk sound, jajaja, cool KBD style but the bands not present on any of this legendary collection! Why? no idea...I would change this immediately but I'm a loser. Well, all three songs are damn good and now I'm movin' into my bed and search my heart.

CHAINSAW - See-Saw EP 1977

Chainsaw is the name of a punk rock band from Brussels/Belgium, formed in 1976 and split in 1978. They were one of the first punk bands in Belgium and this very sought EP was released by Romantik Records and is sadly their only output, maybe the first punk record in Belgium. In 1978 they split and all members went to different punk bands. All four tracks are real killers, snotty guitars, short played songs and I think the singer eats while he's singing, hahaa.. - INCREDIBLE!!! - when this is not punk then I don't know nothing.

ALIEN BEAT - Akrobat 1981

Powerpop from Stockholm with a fat pinch of '77 punk sound is right here. What I wrote to the Danish combo Voxpop goes for this album. A short bio from wikipedia: In 1977-79 they played under the name Cathy & The Heat, but when they kicked the singer Katti they changed their name to Alien Beat. Originally consisted of Asa Johanna Axelsson (vocals), Peter Vial (guitar), Peter Wahlberg (bass), Måns Edwall (saxophone) and Pelle Lidell (drums). Later Asa was replaced by Sebastian Håkansson and Fredric Holmquist joins on keyboards and guitar. Peter Wahlberg stopped and Ted Bolin took over the base. Got a record deal and released three singles and an LP, with in particular was assisted by Magnus Lindberg as producer. When Johan made his punk compilation Ståkkålmsjävlar he took such a song from an LP that never came out. - So Alien Beat is a band where every song becomes an occasion, a relaxing and satisfying state from which to observe the hectic world without expressed with glimmering guitars heartbeating rythm section and sizzling melodies. Convinced?

THE JOLT - s/t LP 1978

Only full length album by this cool band. A little Intro from wiki: The Jolt were a Scottish band formed in Glasgow in 1976. They started out playing 60s covers and then sped up their music, playing a mix of punk rock and power pop. The lineup was Robbie Collins, Jim Doak and Iain Shedden. The band built up its following playing at the Crown Hotel, Wishaw. They enjoyed moderate success during the punk and early new wave era. They moved to London, England and signed to Polydor Records. In addition to their LP they have four 7inches released and their sound are on several compilations. This album is a decent mix of powerpop and punk and the boys know how to do it right. I mean, for 1978 is this amazing.
