HEY TAXI! - I Hate Dogs EP 1980

Your special attention again deserves this fantastic rare three song EP by Hey Taxi!, a three piece from the East Side which was released 1980 on Mystic Records (1000 copies) and was emailed to me yesterdayAmazingly, there is detailed information on the www that I can only recommend to anyone interested, click me, and I would like to quote a small excerpt from it, here we go: Hey Taxi! is another exciting group on the East Side scene, one that you should experience for yourself. The group does nothing unusual in way of clothing or hairstyles, but Hey Taxi! is visually stunning- intense in nature, fast paced, but somehow not monotonous or tiring. The presentation is often ironic and overtly sexual, but on a higher level than the crotch-rock of so many bands. The music of Hey Taxi! has thought, emotion and a very definite twisted view of life expressed in the poetic lyrics of lead singer Michael Ely. The frantic textural sounds of guitarist Spider Taylor are brought together by raw, aggressive musicians John Taglavia on bass, drummer Louie Dufau and Marc O on synth. These guys not only play well together, they interact with the audience and are fascinating to watch. The (hard)core of Hey Taxi! has been around for a long time, and their repertoire is diverse. This is a cutting edge group, a not-so-straight-ahead punk assault, with influences from Bowie to Baroque. (TYPARTY.COM) Also represented on a few compilations, most of them unofficial. TOP!!

V/A - Compilation EP 1984

Before I dedicate myself for a delicious breakfast we visit our neighbors in France and enjoy a decent EP compilation from Ripost Records with four bands on it which sprinkle a good pinch of Oi! sound. Opened by Skunx Offensive, a band from Orléans which only brought two songs to light, Kidnap already have more to offer, an album and a couple of singles and are probably the best known band on this slab. Disturb from Blois also don't have much am start, but in 2013 a compilation with SK NIX was released and contains all their eighties recordings. Last but not least, Töxik, also from Blois, and like the first band on this record they put only one song on vinyl. That's how it is written - All in all a very good release with powerful songs from bands that deserve more, at least now your attention.

1.Passage - SKUNX OFFENSIVE
2.1984 - KIDNAP
3.Toujours Bosser - DISTURB
4.Mal Barré - TÖXIK

EGEN BILLNÄS - Uskokaa Itteenne! 7'' 1980

Another jewel from the Wanted List unexpectedly snows into my mailbox and Egen Billnäs, a four-man combo from Finland, and I can't say where exactly they come from, but the band consisted of Hande (vocals/guitar), Maki (guitar), Okku (bass), Lars (drums) and this is their only vinyl appearance, was caught in Vienna on the Philharmoniker Street when they wanted to check-in to a luxury hotel and wanted to pay with Donald-Duck-Euro bills, a nice idea that they practiced for many years all over Europe and cheated so many star hotels. Now the riddle of their two hits has been deciphered and the Austrian investigators made this unique single available for us. On the A-side is ensured, I think, the bands own version of an old shanty, Drunken Sailor, at least I recognize the melody and 95% sounds like it, pretty awesome. The Flip comes with a rocking three-minute piece that is just as catchy. Due to their cooperation, the four were pardoned and are allowed to enjoy their pension on an island in the Mediterranean, a fair gesture in my opinion.

RESULT - Confesses The New Standard EP 1981

Extremely rare EP by this combo from Hamilton, Ontario and I have no idea who were involved at the recordings. Fact is, the EP was released via A+B=C Records Inc. in two different sleeves and rather sparsely represented on compilations, two to be precise, one is the No One Left To Blame Bootleg, the other is Canada's Pissed Vol.2 - A Collection Of Punk Rarities 1977-83The slab opens with a five minute Killer: terrific guitar, perfect tempo, fabulous lyrics and brilliantly played and explosive at the end, a real lost fucking nugget in every sense. The flip continues with a reggae-heavy punk rag and leaves my bodyhairs standing upright and the finale is crowned by an exemplary '77 goodie, Wow! The Result are 100% Punkrock and whoever claims the opposite should better turn on the light while reading.

BRAYING BOREDOM - s/t EP 2002

Somehow today is a strange day, I feel tired, demotivated and almost drunk and that although I digitized a fantastic record and already had breakfast, so what the fuck? Well, let's come to a band that will surely only say something to users from Germany (but others should also take a sniff here)Braying Boredom is a four piece from Saxony-Anhalt and were Jens (vocals/guitars), Fittsche (guitars), Bruce (bass), Stick (drums)The band itself describes their music as "Punk with German lyrics, extremely emotional and now and then mercilessly poppy sounds" and the influence of well-known bands from my country can't be denied, you surely guess which ones are meant. Learn from the BEST or let them influence you! A few EP's and two albums were released and after a small line-up change the band is now called Peppone and like to play on boat tripsThis is their second 7Inch (nice cover isn't it) with four melancholy single-seaters, donated by UTH Records.
I think, I piss off with a quiet exit.

INCEST BROTHERS - Tre År Försent 12'' 1984

Incest, because they cheated on each other. Brothers, because they hated the thump-thump culture of the disco freaks. How angry can punk band better periodize all that shit, than with a dressy obscene name? Incest Brothers Founded autumn 1978 in Järfälla. Hasse (vocals) and Sir N (guitars) bused their band on the Stockholm audience for the first time in the autumn of 1977. Then followed typical time chaos and a gathering of wannabees went in and out of the lineup. When Sören (drums) and the band's fifty-eleventh bassist Tompa dropped out in early 1978, they quickly and uncomfortably reduced to a duo. Luckily, the Nuts (another unhappy Feierabendcombo) were in Järfälla and Vortex (guitars) and Mongo (bass) joined them. Happy (drums) had his own whirlpool and a hi-hat so he also got to join. However, the new Incest Brothers were too small for both Hasse and Sir N. After two gigs, Hasse was fired, Sir N & Mongo shared then the singing chores.

In fall of 1978, they closed themselves in and practiced hard and purposefully for six months, and at Christmas time, gigs were held. The feature of palace shawls and Ebba Grön sprayed leather jackets in the audience was striking. Incest Brothers, with their British punk exterior and witty humor, could hardly be bundled with the ultra-orthodox prog punk. But the song repertoire's socially critical lyrics, performed in angry Swedish, still made it crystal clear that the band belonged to the political punk phalanx. After two years of ravaging Stockholm's suburbs, Incest Brothers' first chance came to record a piece of wax and the ticket was called Bakverk 80, a brilliant collection with KSMB and Travolta Kids. The group had recorded half a dozen songs for the record in the fall of 1979, just a few months after Vortex had left and been replaced by John.

Around the turn of the year 1979-1980 was at the peak of their popularity. They became part at a live EP named Musikverket and in December 1979 participated in Studio S infected TV debate about punkrockers and the fatherland. Filmmaker and author Kristian Petri wanted to do a kind of "They Call Us Courage" about the punk generation, which resulted in "Incest - The Movie", a documentary about the band that was broadcast in February 1981. Before filming began, the band had a new member with Pettson (keys). Essing, who was considered too troublesome for the band's best, had been fucked six months before and instead started playing with UschThe conflict between the group's two front figures deepened with the result that Mongo dropped out. The others continued in the spring of 1981 as a trio. He returned for one last concert in Karlshamn. That farewell was covered by the evening press and later broadcast on the radio's "Ny Våg", the band had then made about a hundred gigs since the start in 1977.

In 1984 the Gang Of Four was discovered by the Rosa Honung label and invited them to spend some time to record new stuff and together with a few old songs from the early days, six tracks were pressed on vinyl. The album's title Tre År Försent was telling in more ways than one: for the new generation of hardcore punk, Incest Brothers was passé. V/A - German Mystic Sound Sampler IV 1993

Last Mystic stuff for now, because I'm getting slowly sluggish when I listen too much of the black sounds. Volume IV speaks and is a little more interesting than its predecessor and with more steam in the ass. Let's forget about the lame opener (gähn) and go straight to the Hamburg combo Girls Under Glass who were already guest on the second wave, who exude a hard industrial beat with loud metallic clinking guitars, pleases. The Caves is nothing special, except the singer, is this Roland Orzabal? Aurora is squeaky music and to be honest, my farts sound similar, hahaha... next track is a solid one: impulsive, spherical & beautifully monotonous and really true to the compi title. Torts Of Dartmoor starts acoustic and turns into a solid mid-tempo number but limited to the chorus from around the middle of the song and gets boring with every minute, fall leaves is more exciting. Escape With Romeo from Cologne does it better with their PostPunkMeetsModernElectronica style, a sound that flows straight into my blood, certainly not their best piece but okay. Yelworc were a duo from Munich and this is a typical dark electro beat goodie and I like this gloomy synthesizer mixed with abrasive dance-beats and definitive a highlight. Trial, please forward. Candle #10 is a musical hybrid, nothing special but not bad either. Would I create a rarity collection, I wouldn't take it. 'I Don't Love You Anymore' is a tearful, sad sad love song, and that's always part of it, no matter what genre. Not bad, the man can sing and musically very gently. Last but not least: Qntal, an electro-medieval band, active since 1991 and I remember my girlfriend in beautiful Hamburg at the time had a CD, the second album I think, and their music is relaxed and soft but I prefer DCD - quick & easy, ferddisch!

V/A - German Mystic Sound Sampler III 1992

And we stay black and it goes wave after wave, I could say. Volume three has arrived, and all of the fourteen bands are unknown to me and right in advance, not every song pops with me, yes even some of them bored me quite a bit, but as already mentioned, I'm punk rock but only delve into one genre is not my style and therefore for all darkwave/goth nerds it's another listening pleasure of the 'softer' tones, and that even before breakfast .... An interesting song is #2, it was written by a well-known gentleman named Deutscher W and insiders know he is Singer and head of OHL, a punk band of the first wave from Leverkusen, who've been active since 1980. Wolfsheim is also a pleasure, Lacrimosa I have a record somewhere and otherwise a rather restrained mixture that can't really top the first two parts. Let's see how the next Volume is. By the way, the subtitle Indie-Classics is a bit confusing and out of place in my opinion, for whatever reason...

1.House Of Hate - CATASTROPHE BALLET
2.Feuer - FORTHCOMING FIRE
3.Paradise Eyes - BLESSING IN DISGUISE
4.Second Generation - THE MERRY THOUGHTS
5.San Diego (The Tragical) - THE ETERNAL AFFLICT

V/A - German Mystic Sound Sampler I 1990

I wouldn't thought that I would trigger a wave with the post of the German Mystic Sound Sampler II but apparently there are some lovers of this style, and the network of friends works flawlessly, which the next Volume proves. On part one are few songs I know, because a former friend recorded a tape for me back then during my civil service, over thirty years ago in Lüneburg, and so I came into contact with this type of music for the first time. As a hardcore punk I was amazed at myself that I could like such sounds. Well, I have a sensitive and romantic streak as well and therefore, I'm easy to convince and interested in new things as well, but primarily I pay little attention to the scene because the attitude doesn't beguile me. In the end, only one CD in this series found the way into my house, but a few bands are slumbering somewhere in my treasure box. The song selection is quite decent, some bands have a relevant following nowadays and are still active. Okay, enough talk. More issues will follow and maybe a little more at some point.

1.Doomsday - LOVE LIKE BLOOD
2.No Excuse - THE FAIR SEX
3.Your Turn To Run - MALARIA
4.Lucky - GIRLS UNDER GLASS
5.2nd Step - PROJECT PITCHFORK
6.Pale Your Mind - LA MORTE DE LA MAISON

8.Michelle - PINK TURNS BLUE
9.Massaker - TOMMI STUMPFF
10.Gottes Tod - DAS ICH

JAWOLL - s/t LP 1982

Sexy slab by Jawoll from Kassel and it's their only full length on Mercury. Founded 1981 by Kornelia (vocals), Robert (guitars), Jochen (bass), Matthias (drums), Richard (keys/vocals) and their first 7Inch Taxi from 1982 was (and remains) their most successful hit and suddenly made Jawoll known about Kassel's borders after a television appearance on the music program Bananas. Unfortunately, little attention was paid to the band and I think the reasen is they had a lot more to say with their lyrics, more offensive, more direct and had nothing to do with the plastic ideal world which most of the other NDW bands deal and therefore became boring. You won't find any in this theater and I wouldn't count them among. On the contrary, thirteen sympathetic and interesting songs with a solid, tingling punk spirit/feeling are gathered here, all excellent performed. To that; Kornelia's refreshingly authentically and unmistakable charming voice. Rendezvous was their third 7inch from 1983, which I like even better because the lyrics somehow has something longing about it. - Underrated album! -
