VI - The Triumph Of Death EP 1987

A little undiscovered Hardcore EP with seven 'Tiltcore' attacks by VI on Loony Tunes Records. Probably from Copenhagen the band consisted of Dimse (vocals), Marco (guitars), Hans (bass), Pønk (drums) and here burns the Luzie. Words in Danish and English, these stunning songs are of a qualitative coarseness in just under twenty minutes. More appearances of the band are rare but they made it on some compis before they disappeared into the well-deserved punk retirement. Their legacy: a very powerful and great record, you want to play it at least twice and I would say; just the right sound to unwrap the Christmas presents.

WARHEAD - X-Mas Bop EP 1987

Welcome to a band that had their creative time in the 80s and it seems they probably still active. A bit Info from their home: "Early 1980’s: nuclear warheads, the cold war, the nuclear age with its power of creation and its power of destruction, the fear of the whole lot going up. A generation of mutants come up through the underground culture, dangerous, contaminated, out of this world or maybe too caught up in it. In the summer of ’82, out of this generation Fabio Scipioni and Fausto Colasanti formed the group Warhead, the first Thrash-Hardcore Punk band in Umbria. So the band from back woods began with a demo-tape, In Rock We Trust. Concerts in a series of converted theatres  and squatted warehouses of central Italy were the experiences behind cutting their first record, the mini-LP The Black Radio, the X-Mas Bop EP with a cover of Irving Berlin's “White Christmas” featuring guitarist/pianist Paul Chain on the flip. The last of the 80’s was the One More Time In The Jail slab". On these three lullabies were Fabio (vocals/guitar), Fausto (guitars), Roberto (bass), Paul (organ), Lucio (drums) involved and they do their job properly. More boring X-Mas sounds don't follow.

PARAF - Izleti 1981

Second record by Paraf from Rijeka and the first with new singer Vim Cola, released via ZKP RTVL, better known as Slivovitz Records, and musicians were: Vim (vocals), Ritchie (guitars/synth), Zdravko (bass), Dušan (drums) and I don't know how firm you in Yugo Punk, but Paraf are one of the first and best bands of the Balkans and for all those who are not familiar with it, I fixed all the previous posts in this blog. Compared to the debut, the sound is more wavie and melodic and some songs exceed the five minute mark. I can say, different in style but great goodies (on this rainy morning I was humming their melodies softly in the subway, so even the mutants didn't bother me anymore). I think, the presence of the new female member had a major influence on the rough, wild shell of the early phase & the band celebrates, sometimes a little wistful, intense emotions and transform them professional in eleven power/wonderful examples, their bites are definitely worth listening. Enough for today, the days off are imminent, enjoy them as much as you can and I'll be back tomorrow.

ISOTOP KNALL - (Tele)Vision 7'' 2015

The headquarters of Slyngel Records have with #012 again two fantastic nuggets unearthed and you know, this label stands for quality in every way. Isotop Knall (cool name) consisted of Jan (vocals), Boris & Daniel (guitars), Michael (bass), Mattias (organ), Urban (drums) and both songs were recorded in October 1980. Amazingly fabulous rhythms in both and the use of an organ I have rarely heard in punkrock. Their sound gives them a magical, almost childlike undertone, as if I were in kindergarten. On the a-side is a hearty three-minute piece while the flip is a cool 1:40 Christmas carol... and again this fucking organ, brilliant!! Convince yourself at Slyngels bandcamp presence, there you find more rare Swedish lost nuggets.
Hot stuff, my friends. Limited to 300 copies, blue vinyl and listening to this fills you with joy.

WASTE - History Repeats EP 1982

Einer geht noch und wir besuchen unsere Nachbarn im Westen und finden Waste with their sole record and this four piece consisted of Nonkel RR (vocals), Hans (guitars), Klaus (bass), Fred (drums), released via Miranda Records and it's a real nugget. It's really amazing that they are nowhere present on one of the relevant compilations, you know which one I mean. A short review by Pushead: "Swirling guitars, spinning fast psychotic grinds of explosive vigor. Enter Waste from Holland, yet another approach to quick demanding hardcore and punk, completely different than Agent Orange or BGK. Waste is aggressive; an onslaught of butchering mayhem bolts you to the electric chair with schizoid charges of outrageous fury." Well, I say the boys recorded four excellent songs and they sound more like early UK punk. Cool one 👍

KILLING JOKE - Love Like Blood 12'' 1985

A song that should be known in advance to anyone, but doesn't reflect their early days, and in my opinion, the debut album is still the best. We're talking about seminal postpunks Killing Joke and they were formed 1979 in Notting Hill by Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Paul Ferguson (drums), Geordie Walker (guitar) and Youth (bass). The band's musical style emerged from the post-punk scene and has been cited as a key influence on industrial rock. Their style evolved over many years, at times incorporating elements of gothic, synthpop and electronic music, often baring Walker's prominent guitar and Coleman's "savagely strident vocals". Killing Joke have influenced many later bands and artists and achieved mainstream success with their fifth album Night Time and the second single from that "Love Like Blood". Although Coleman and Walker have been the only constant members of the band, the current line-up features all four original members. They made a lot of albums and they're still alive.

ABZESS - Immer Bereit [Demo] 1984

Last but not least, a little fast-paced demo of Abzess, a three piece that consisted of Matt (vocals/guitars), Ulf (bass), Olli (drums) and apart from this tape they didn't publish much, here and there on compilation tapes to find and that's it, further infos or signs of life about the three can't be found in the global network as well, but what posterity will find on a Saturday in a decent cassette collection are eleven rumbling fast tracks in a good recording quality and one wonders why no EP was made, well.. shouldn't be. For this, the SGE reaped three points in Augsburg. Now I'm at the end for today, tomorrow will continue. Have a chill evening and don't stop listening to fantastic music.

THE FEATURES - Floozie Of The Neighborhood 7'' 1979

This weekend I'm busy with lots of new music and look forward to a new WDM compilation soon but now a quick post of a brilliant 7Inch and the corresponding info from someone who knows how to review: "First as five piece founded as the Fingers in Pittsburgh early 1977, they packing up their instruments and professional aspirations and leaving two Fingers behind, three members (two of them brothers) headed to New York City in September of that year, and released their first EP Isolation on Paradox Records with three nice goodies and then they transformed into the Features. Take three Fingers, add the manager, and a wardrobe change and you have the Features whose Floozie Of The Neighborhood 7Inch is a pop-punk classic while the flip's a fantastic Beatles (I love their records) cover. Modern day punk throwbacks, the Stitches, cover "Floozie" in fine fashion. Considering the chances of finding the original are slim-to-none, vinyl hounds should seek out the No One Left To Blame compilation (coming soon) which includes "Isolation" or, for the less discerning and more desperate, the Features/Fingers album released on Italy's Rave-Up label in 2000." BADDIES - Don Juan 7'' 1982

I should already be in bed and dreaming, but somehow I'm intoxicated and want to fill my blog and that's rare. I know tomorrow will be another exhausting day, a young man needs his rest time, doesn't it? Well, there isn't much to say about this four piece combo, called Baddies, from the Swedish provinces, the band consisted of Christer (vocals/guitar), Per (guitars), Leif (bass), Kenneth (drums) and that's their only 7Inch on Pang Records, a small label that specialized in rock music and that's exactly what you can hear; two numbers that go through well but in my opinion, also disappear quickly (I guess, the detectives felt that as well). But a post is it worth because it's damn rare and it doesn't always have to be fast and dirty. Just listen and relax.

EMILS - Demo '87 EP 2015

The Emils, Ille (vocals), Oliver (guitars), Sven (bass), Carsten (drums), have been influenced by American punk from the start. The band started to write their own songs straight away because, as already mentioned, they had already rejected the much-cited "musical horns" in local Hamburg punk bands. The musical & textual part gradually emerges, they decide to sing in German. So far nobody had tried to combine this musical style with German lyrics. The lyrics from the beginning still reveal a lot of naive and juvenile anger, which some critics of the band use to use this as a generally valid statement until the end. But what was still missing is a name for the baby. If you believe a legend, Olli reads the name Slime in some mangled toilet at a sink in a mirror, where Slime's writing was emblazoned upside down and comes up with Emils. Well, however, the only truth about this story is that Olli read the name the wrong way round. The Emils played live for the first time about 1 year after they got together on April 12th, 1986 in the kitchen of the then still occupied Hafenstrasse. They play where they can, including spontaneous practice room concerts that they have organized themselves. This great five song EP was released via Power It Up in coloured vinyl and limited to 100 copies and shows the energy and dynamic of their first recordings which was intensively continued on their great debut Fight Together For. Splendid German Hardcore.
