EMILS - Demo '87 EP 2015

The Emils, Ille (vocals), Oliver (guitars), Sven (bass), Carsten (drums), have been influenced by American punk from the start. The band started to write their own songs straight away because, as already mentioned, they had already rejected the much-cited "musical horns" in local Hamburg punk bands. The musical & textual part gradually emerges, they decide to sing in German. So far nobody had tried to combine this musical style with German lyrics. The lyrics from the beginning still reveal a lot of naive and juvenile anger, which some critics of the band use to use this as a generally valid statement until the end. But what was still missing is a name for the baby. If you believe a legend, Olli reads the name Slime in some mangled toilet at a sink in a mirror, where Slime's writing was emblazoned upside down and comes up with Emils. Well, however, the only truth about this story is that Olli read the name the wrong way round. The Emils played live for the first time about 1 year after they got together on April 12th, 1986 in the kitchen of the then still occupied Hafenstrasse. They play where they can, including spontaneous practice room concerts that they have organized themselves. This great five song EP was released via Power It Up in coloured vinyl and limited to 100 copies and shows the energy and dynamic of their first recordings which was intensively continued on their great debut Fight Together For. Splendid German Hardcore.
