BÖHSE TANTEN - Tough Ain't Enough EP 2013

Let's come to this nice record which was released hand numbered to 500 copies via Antisozial Records and it's the debut vinyl by the Böhse Tanten from Madrid and they cover lieder by Böhse Onkelz which is nothing special, but the Böhse Tanten are Skinheads and play only the older ones with their own lyrics (in Spanish and broken German)! Founded 2007 by Malte (vox), Niklas (bass), Peter (guitars) and Jaime (drums) they came to the idea to polish the old Onkelz songs in a punkin' direction and their first album (only as CD, 500 copies) Made In Madrid with eight songs is nowadays a rare jewel. What the boys drifted until 2013 is not known to me but a compilation album called The Oaschwukal Jahre was released with the CD and EP tracks and since then it has become quiet. Of course, you can ask: Does make that any sense at all? but I think it's cool because the music is not bad and that counts. Ach Scheiße, zieht Euch die vier Liedchen rein und damit hat sich's!

P-NISSARNA - Flumpungar 2004

One of the youngest bands with a real cult status were P-Nissarna from Falun. In December '77 the band started with Pistols and Ramones covers and two years later, in March 1979, the band is called now P-Nissarna, says guitarist Tomas Modig, who turned 15 that year. The first gig they had at school where there were 300 Asian people in a theme day. The Bassist was shit scared and stood the whole gig with his back to the audience. He was later fired because he was so lame. In all cases, they kicked the upper surprisingly and they earned a lot of praise afterwards which shocked them. Drummer at that time was called Willy and he lived quite far from Falun, which meant that he was replaced by Carl Zone and he was a rock. He had lirat Rush and stuff like that before so he was very technical. Soon after Fender had contact with Jeppe Ekholm from RiP records, which were very interested to release something with the band. The result was the Jugend EP which was recorded in Gävle Sound Studio and paid by themselves and the songs have a damn good sound. The band made a few EP's and were on some great Swedish punk compilations. Their music is full rough energy & the band released a few veritable bombs of great 70's punk rock. This CD is a comprehensive compilation of all their singles from the years 1979-1982, a few live tracks from 1981 and as bonus new cuts from the year 1999 with singer Fender and guitarist Tomas Modig. Fender died 2001 with only 37 years. All in all one of the best Swedish punk slabs come from P-Nissarna. What more can be said?

SKIN-DEEP - More Than Skin Deep 1988

Late in the evening one more classic and it's Doncaster 1985: Wayne Kenyon, Milk Whitnall, Andy State and Shaun Parkin form the band Skin-Deep. One year later Shaun is replaced by Dean Jordan. With only three concerts, they were asked to participate on the compilation Oi! The Resurrection, and Self Respect was their first vinyl output. The result was not exactly the sound the band was looking for, but it was the group's presentation to the Skinhead scene of that time. In 1986, they record the song My Life's Fine for another compilation, The Sound Of Oi!. In 1987 they are offered a tour of South Africa, which they do not accede for obvious reasons and the band refuses to play in a "Racist State". Continuing their musical plan the group was asked by Link Records to record their first and (sadly) only album. For this session the band was extended with a section of friends: Gav (trumpet), Carol (saxophone) and Carl (keyboards). In July 1988 the record came then with ten songs that navigate between Oi!, Punk & Ska and give a couple of young bands great influences. Skin-Deep are known for skinheads around the world and they were obviously hated by the right-wing boneheads, but they were embraced by non-racist skinheads everywhere, in addition they always concideraron a band conscious of being working class in the mid-1980s, without necessarily being a 100% politic slag. After three years of life and with less than twenty concerts (they never played in their native town) the band lastly broke up.

BOOTS & BRACES - Aufrecht Gehen EP 1987

This is the debut EP by Boots & Braces, an Oi! combo from southern Germany, founded 1983 by the Walz brothers. After a few rehearsals, they found bassist Alfred, who already left in 1984 as the brothers moved to Hohenlohe. He played the first demo and a few gigs with the mates of Herbärds. Gigs in Germany and France followed and in 1986 the band expanded to include singer Ralf and shortly thereafter the first single was released. Their album "Wahnsinn" appeared 1988 on the right-wing label Rock-O-Rama and brought the band a bad aftertaste because at that time only shit bands appeared on the Cologne label (although the band has no political statements in its lyrics, it was assigned to the right-wing rock due to the former label-affiliation to Rock-O-Rama and performances with well-known nazi bands. From the mid-1990s onwards they tried to get rid of their "right reputation as a band". The band explained in interviews not to be interested in politics, but they wanted to exclude anyone from the start. Political phrases of any kind would not be tolerated at concerts). After the release Alex quit again but with 16-year-old Martin they found a new guitarist, which leads Matze changing to the bass. More records + gigs followed and currently the band is pausing. In any case on this record are three fine Oi! classics which bring fun.

TRASH - This Is Complete Trash! 2011

I remember their first 7Inch was posted on my former blog and since then this great band has been forgotten until I was asked for this compilation which was published by Only Fit For The Bin Records in an edition of 200 copies only as CD six years ago. Twelve rare goodies, the pieces of their singles + unreleased demos & live material and an radio interview from 1977. Trash formed 1976 in Weybridge/Surrey and signed to Polydor (!) and released two singles. Auditioned in front of Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle for the role as a mod group in the film 'Quadrophenia', but didn't get the part. Trash split in 1979. Not much on compilations represent but the detectives immortalized them on Killed By Death #F.U.2 and Killed By Death #24Enjoy the dirty sound of Trash and have always a smile ready.

- Big Thx to François -

DESORDEIROS - Desordeiros Do Brasil 1987

Pretty nice debut record by this punk band from Rio de Janeiro on Devil Discos. You may known them via the great Ataque Sonoro compilation from 1985 which they offers two tracks. Desordeiros shine with heavily distorted guitars, tempo or expressed in two words: fulminating hardcore. Nineteen well-tempered goodies, not shaken pure drink.

INTERTERROR - s/t LP 1985

It has become infinitely colder and therefore we make an excursion to the Iberian Peninsula. During the first years of the 80's Interterror were still one of the most significant and interesting bands in Valencia's musical scene of that era. The band were formed in 1980 by Willy (vocals) and some other fans of British punk, although it wouldn't be until November 1981 that the band was completely constituted. The lineup then included Victor (drums), Paco (bass) and Miguel (guitar). Soon they became known by their pounding sound and funny lyrics, even though their musical parameters later on moved towards a faster and cleaner rock sound, denouncing war and social ills. In 1983 their first 7" came across by RS Editora and included "Adiós Lili Marleen" and "Felices Días En Auschwitz" in an edition of 1500 copies and became one of the most sought records. Lineup changes followed and in 1985 new material were recorded with their old bassist Paco and was moderately successful in punk terms. But they still didn't achieve the attention they hoped for, without generating the interest needed for a major to pick them up. The members became tired of the band and broke up soon thereafter. THE BATES - Punk? EP 1998

The Bates was a German punk band, founded in Eschwege, federal state of Hesse/Germany in 1987. The name refers to the character Norman Bates from Alfred Hitchcock's film Psycho. This EP is limited fan edition and contains thirteen tracks. The Bates published alongside original compositions on each of their albums at least two cover versions. On 18.June 2006, singer & frontman Markus Zimmer (R.I.P.) died at the age of 41 years in his apartment. As a basic circulatory collapse is given as cardiac arrest, which is due to the long-standing alcohol and drug addiction. Two days later he was found. A sad sad story indeed. A fuckin' cool live band and unforgotten.

Impressions XII

a few autumn impressions which I shot this week on my everyday ride in the morning by bike. It has become quite chill and I don't like to be so early on the road but sometimes you are compensated with such pictures...
