The Expelled are a punk rock band which formed July 1981 in Leeds, England. After gigging around Leeds the band signed a record deal with Riot City Records after Rick Fox gave a demo tape to the drummer of Vice Squad, (one of the groups chief influences). They went on to release a three track extended player and a single both in 1982, and then do a John Peel session on BBC Radio 1 in December 1982. Ball left in 1983 and the band tried out several female vocalists, touring with one (Jewlie) and recording two songs with another (Penny, a girlfriend of Vice Squad guitarist Dave Bateman), before deciding to carry on as a three piece with McEvoy taking over on vocals. The new line-up recorded four tracks for an unreleased 12", 'Waiting for Tomorrow', before Riot City Records ran into financial problems and the band split in May 1984. Here we have now all their 80's recordings by this fantastic UK Punkrock Pioneers.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The UK 2 1997
With this Bloodstains compilation all four parts of the UK section are here now represented and # 2 has not sixteen goodies (as the front says) on it, we have eighteen rare lost nuggets, why is this so explains a little info-blättchen inside. I'm a little k.o. now because yesterday was a nice afternoon with lots of alcohol in me + far too many cigarettes. Therefore briefly looked and right out enjoying the sun. You know what you get with this record so more words are superfluously. Enjoy this Sunday!

MAYHEM - Gentle Murder EP 1982
One hour until today's match against Hoffenheim and I'll pass the time with a cracker, the debut 7Inch from Mayhem on Riot City Records with four rough speedies. Founded 1979 in Southport by Mick (vocals), Johnny (guitar), Deadcat (bass), Collo (drums). Info from discogs: Initially started with a load of mates knocking about together coming out of the legendary Eric's club Liverpool where they all went to the matinees on a Saturday except for Collo who was a bit older and hit the Punk scene with full force because he could. Mick's old school mate Andy Carroll was involved in the early days as manager, he also was involved with sleeve artwork and created the band's logo as well as taking some of the sleeve pictures. Andy signed Mayhem to Riot City Records of Bristol which led to touring with Vice Squad. Numerous independant gigs went on with support for the Exploited at Brady's (ex Eric's) being a particulary mad night for the book. Mick McGee, Andy Carroll and later, one of the Mayhem wreckin' crew ~ Phil 'Rabbit Man' Harrison got involved as road crew for the DK's also. The lads did three UK tours with the DK's. As ever band members switch about with other local groups and Mayhem members were also with Blitzkrieg and The Insane. Mick Collo was formerly with the earlier Southport Punk band The Dumb Blondes. This is from David Ball, of Failsafe fanzine fame. - Enjoy!

V/A - Burning Ambitions (A History Of Punk) 1982
Burning Ambition: The History of Punk, attempts to be a definitive overview of the British (except DK) wave/punk scene in the late 70s/early 80s and while it falls short of its goals, it's nevertheless an admirable effort. The Crème de la Crème are here to honor, only classics on it. Surely some of you, like me, have the original records at home but this double album should become a favorite of yours, because this record is one of the finest punk compilations which is ever released. V/A - Avon Calling 1979
A essential City compilation is this release. Avon Calling is an album of tracks featuring bands from Bristol/UK, on local record label Heartbeat Records and was originally released in 1979. Great shots of Punk and Wave tunes on it and I guarantee 100% listening pleasure, this is exactly the mix as I like them. At the time of the LP release Rick Joseph of the NME started his review of the album, “Avon Calling is the collective endeavour of 15 bands that live and languish around Britain’s Most Unsung Major Metropolis. So, leaving aside any thoughts of the value of compilation albums in general, and digressions on rock geography in particular, it only remains to be said that ‘Avon Calling’ is a veritable riot of stunning pop." In 2005 the album was re-released as a Double CD, that included bonus unreleased tracks and selections from each of the first 12 Heartbeat singles from 1978 to 1981. More info in the file. And now enjoy this wonderful music.
