ROTZKOTZ - Much Funny! 1979

A real classic by one of the first german Punkbands: Rotzkotz from Hanover! Founded 1977 by E.A. Werner (vocals), Horst (guitars), Uli (bass) & Peter (drums). The band with the unsavory name Rotzkotz belongs to the first German punk/new wave groups and paved the way for the fertile new Hanover underground scene. It took two years until the band was finally able to record their self-produced debut (first issue named "Vorsicht! Paranoia" with spraypainted band logo) in the spring of 1979 in England (in the studio of their friends Pop Rivets) and it offers twelve punk goodies which are still tasty today. Even if they did not get as famous as some other bands of their generation, the music is still worth preserving for posterity. In mid 1980 the group received a record deal from EMI and after the Problem 7'' which was revised from EMI without consulting the band they split up after the "Jubel 81" tour in a dispute. Independent again, Rotzkotz stayed with their German lyrics and released their second work, Lebensfroh + Farbenfroh, which is a fine poppunk album and faded the rawness of its predecessor, on which they processed their experiences with EMI. However, disputes about the further direction of the band led to the separation in 1982. Horst made with his new combo Bizarre Leidenschaft a great new wave/synthpop record (Geheimnis) on GeeBeeDee Records but with less resonance. In the following years, Horst appeared again with changing musicians as Rotzkotz for gigs here and there. What remains: Much Funny is German punk history & today fresher than ever, PROST! 💋

We meet old friends together with 'new' and unreleased goodies. Twenty-five dirty nasty songs, partly live and from practice rooms, who influenced the musical events in and around Hanover at the time and this small compilation offers a good insight of the former activities and highlights and it's great fun to hear the old classics again. I had them myself but gave them to a good buddy for a birthday. A few records of the bands are in the blog distributed, go and search for it.

BIZARRE LEIDENSCHAFT - Geheimnis 1982

Bizarre Leidenschaft was founded 1982 in Hanover by Horst Illing, ex-Rotzkotz member and this is their only album on GeeBeeDee. The band consisted of Horst (vocals/guitars), Gregor (synth/vocals), Mulle (synth) and Marcus (drums). Geheimnis is a nice melodic synth pop album with hearty New Wave influences and lyrically not uninteresting. After the arguments about the further direction of Rotzkotz, attempts were made to gain a foothold in the music scene of that time, but unfortunately they didn't earned positive feedbacks and so the band split up soon without further ado. When I heard the record for the first time I was skeptical, not every song ignites, but after listening to it several times I would consider it as good ('Oho' is by far the worst song, an eighties dance poor copy, cruel)I wouldn't call them NDW, it's too special for that in my opinion. At this point loving greetings to Rio!

V/A - Planet Punk #4 2005

Second and last part of Planet Punk and with Volume 3, this little self-made series is already complete. H2D#26 is another tidbit full of rare stars from international bands that are still kicking ass, much in demand and popular in our fucking disillusioned times which bring little decent music to light in my opinion. Music is like inventions, there is nothing innovative that can really impress me, hardly any wow factor or thing that I can really admire. And I would say that for almost twenty years. Speaking of music, we all hear & see the so called "combos" thrown together, the TV shows which offer only shit and are played over and over by radio stations, all this crap is boring, repetitive and only geared towards profit, commercial shit and really sucks. It's really intoxicating to get acquainted with such music as on this further fantastic compilation and to eke out an existence far away from this dead & dull society. That are the words for Sunday, Amen! Enjoy the vibes of the good ole days!

V/A - Bloodstains Across Europe #2 2000

One more today and let's have a look on Europe. On this trip we're back in the years 1978-1982 and meet fifteen rare punk blasts with dirty sound and useless lyrics which no one wants listen to. The Scandinavian region is here the most represented because the people there have nothing better to do as make nasty noises in any cellars to terrorize decent well-behaved neighbors. Even in the south the so-called outsiders leads to this tradition and celebrates gruesome sounds too. Occasion for another civil war? NO, simple punkrock we named it and have you a problem with us fuck your brains. Don't miss Volume 1 of this horrible music. I love you too...

A5 - Erst Ausgabe EP 1980

The beautiful short life of the band A5 from Bremen ranged from 1980 to late 1981 and the commercial success of the Neue Deutsche Welle was immense and A5 don't five a fuck and wandered off the scene. A5 is a band which characterizes the transition from Punk to NDW very nice and presents a wonderful mix of both. In September 1980, the band consisting of Sabina May, Ego/N, Harald Hass, Wolf Schaller, Rainer Kosch and Knox, their first EP Erst Ausgabe (also known as Seesack EP) were recorded and was released by No Fun Records. In the summer of 1981 they toured with famous bands such as Hans-A-Plast, Rotzkotz and Der Moderne Man and in October 1981 they released their second and last vinyl Kalte Erotik 7'' and shortly after, in late 1981, the band broke up. So on this record are four pretty mid-tempo sterile strips.
