V/A - YU Punk 1978-1982 Vol.1

Another superb re-post from my old Blog and can't say much about this release, because it's a self-made compilation or something like that, but who cares. The fact is many of the songs appeared already on the Bloodstains Across Yugoslavia and the terrific Novi Punk Val compilation album from 1981. The creme de la creme of the yugoslavian punk rock scene is represented here, some songs probably only here but that I don't know exactly. In any case, this is a damn horny compilation and a big fat thanks to the makers who searched for all that stuff and shared with us. Yugoslavian punkrock kicks strong ass.

V/A - Bloodstains Across Yugoslavia 1997

After renewing some Bloodstains posts I add another gem of this series, this time with massive hits from Ex-Yugoslavia, we stay also on the Mediterranean Sea, the place I love and now would to be. Today it gets very frosty again and I hate winter but maybe this hot compilation helps with twenty two glowing stars to get my engine started, who knows? Fact is, today is Friday, soon is weekend, I drink a delicious caramel coffee and I'm amazingly fit. To the slab not much: the créme de la créme of early Yugo-bands are here together and the song selection is quite superb and by using the search function you'll find plenty records of the bands (sure not online anymore, ask for a re-upp). The bike remains in the closet, subway preferred. Wish everyone a nice weekend!!

PANKRTI - Lepi In Prazni EP 2014

Great re-release of Pankrti's first 7Inch from 1978 on Ne! Records (limited to 300 copies, 100 in black and 100 in clear vinyl) with two bonus cuts, I'm guessing unused studio demo recordings but I'm not sure. Pankrti (Bastards) was founded 1977 in Ljubljana by Peter (vocals) and Gregor (manager), completed with Mitja (guitars), Jure (bass) & Slavc (drums). These five became one of the most important former Yugoslav Punk bands. They have a rough sound and it's still cool today, because there were hardly any bands behind the Iron Curtain at that time. After five albums released, band ceased to exist at the end of 1987, but in 1996 they temporarily reunited to perform as support act for the Sex Pistols in Ljubljana during their Filthy Lucre Tour. In 2003, Pankrti were included in the Yugonostalgic Croatian rockumentary Sretno Dijete, which deals with the former Yugoslav Punk & New Wave scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band has numerous compilation appearances, some of you can find on the blog, and have been active again since 2007. This EP kicks and demonstrates concentrated determination.

PANKRTI - Državni Ljubimci 1982

Well, it's been a bit quiet here but the reason is the European soccer championship in France and I try to see every match so a little sorry that I didn't respond emails or requests. So now a quick post between the matches and time again for some nice rare damn good stuff. Now we have here the second album of the punkrockers Pankrti from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Like the first one with fine melodic firecrackers which goes into the ears from the first tone till to last note. Powerful playing and a clean produce which brings every Pogogen to dance. Pankrti are again active since 2007 and so they are one of the longest living Punk-Bands from Yugoslavia. Get more via the search function in the top left. Strange cover by the way...

V/A - All Quiet On The Eastern Front? 1998

I hope you were all decent at home on this sunny weather and listen to lots of music and enjoy cold beers. If not, do it now with this selfmade compilation from Get Baque Records, #029 illuminates the east of Europe and even there first-class material were recorded by famous bands, which can be found in large numbers on wdthtc, and we beam back to the years 1978-1986 and enjoy twenty rare goodies. Excellent selection and interesting for all who would like to discover something new. I now open another beer and enjoy my evening, take care!

PANKRTI - Dolgcajt 1980

Debut album by this great band from Ljubljana which were formed in 1977. Pankrti (The Bastards) were known for provocative and politically engaged songs and billed themselves "The First Punk Band Behind The Iron Curtain" (Look at it this way) - They are one of the most important former Yugoslav Punk groups and one of the first punk rock bands ever formed in a communist country (really?). After five albums the band ceased to exist at the end of 1987. In 2007 the band get reunited. Get their 7inch Namesto Tebe too. Pankrti rocks modestly. So, its Saturday and its Soccer time.

PANKRTI - Namesto Tebe EP 1981

Pankrti (The Bastards in Slovene) were a punk rock band from Ljubljana, Slovenia, active in the late 70's and during the 80's. The band started playing in fall of 1977, practicing in the basement of Kodeljevo's music school, and held the first concert at Moste High School. Initially they played covers of established punk bands including the Sex Pistols, The Clash and New York Dolls. Some of their first songs that became popular were "Za Zelezno Zaveso" (Behind The Iron Curtain), "Anarhist" (Anarchist) and "Lublana Je Bulana" (Ljubljana is Sick). They were included in the Novi Punk Val compilation album. They released their first album Dolgcajt (Boredom) in 1980 and gained the status of a cult band all over former Yugoslavia. - This EP is an awesome four track killer (two slow & two fast numbers) with rough & dirty melodies and is made to play fuckin' loud.....you got me?

V/A - Bloodstains Across Europe #2 2000

One more today and let's have a look on Europe. On this trip we're back in the years 1978-1982 and meet fifteen rare punk blasts with dirty sound and useless lyrics which no one wants listen to. The Scandinavian region is here the most represented because the people there have nothing better to do as make nasty noises in any cellars to terrorize decent well-behaved neighbors. Even in the south the so-called outsiders leads to this tradition and celebrates gruesome sounds too. Occasion for another civil war? NO, simple punkrock we named it and have you a problem with us fuck your brains. Don't miss Volume 1 of this horrible music. I love you too...

PRLJAVO KAZALIŠTE - Moj Je Otac Bio U Ratu 7'' 1979 + Crno Bijeli Svijet 7'' 1980

Prljavo Kazalište (meaning in Croatian language: Dirty Theatre) is a rock band from Zagreb, Croatia. Since its formation in 1977, the group changed several music styles and line ups but remained one of the top acts of both the Croatian and the former Yugoslav rock scenes. Founding members included: Jasenko Houra (rhythm guitar), Zoran Cvetkovic a.k.a. Zok (lead guitar), Nino Hrastek (bass) and Tihomir Fileš (drums). Its first vocalist became Davorin Bogovic, although they were thinking about taking Davor Gobac (later of Psihomodo pop) instead. All of them, except Houra, previously played in another band called Ciferšlus (Zipper), but after he joined them to form a new group, they opted for the name Prljavo Kazalište after an episode of the satirical Italian comic book Alan Ford, which was very popular in the former Yugoslavia. In its early beginnings, Prljavo Kazalište's was a Punk band, although they initially wanted to sound like The Rolling Stones for whom they maintained a great admiration. The group performed live for a first time in 1978 at a gig organized by the magazine Polet where they were noted for their furious punk image and stage performance. In the same year, Prljavo Kazalište released its first single, the punk rock sounding Televizori for the major record label Jugoton.

In 1979, Suzy Records released their 2nd single 'Moj Je Otac Bio U Ratu'. That song was included in the great Novi Punk Val compilation which was compiled by Igor Vidmar, along with Pankrti, Paraf and other prominent artists of the former Yugoslav Punk scene. In 1979, they released their first eponymous album, produced by Piko Stancic, for Suzy Records. It was promoted when the group performed as a support act of the Yugoslav band Bijelo dugme at a concert held at the JNA Stadium. During the recording sessions, Zoran Cvetkovic left the band and was replaced by Marijan Brkic. The album soon came to prominence all over the former Yugoslav federation for its social commentary and provoked the then-ruling one-party system, additionally because it also featured probably the first gay-themed song in Yugoslavia titled 'Neki Djecaci (Some Boys)' (followed later by "Retko Te Vidam Sa Devojkama" by Idoli). The authorities valuated the album as "šund" ("Kitsch") and hence they imposed higher taxes on its sale price, while the records considered "truly artistic" enjoyed a reduced tax rate.

Both 7inches are quite cool and I recommend a listen to their albums.

V/A - Killed By Death #22 1998

Nothing new but now a post from my former blog. Always satisfied when I listen to a compilation when every song hits the fan and with the KBD series I do nothing wrong. This damn sucker takes possession of the world, from the United States to Japan and the quality is top notch! 500 copies are pressed on black vinyl with white & black labels. A shame it's so hard to find. Everything is fairly brilliant and the makers did again a very great job. More KBD stuff comin' soon so come back and get yourself a fuckin' beer!

V/A - YU Punk 1983-1986 Vol.2

So we travel again for a short but worthwhile trip over to ex-Yugoslavia. To the makers of YU Punk #1, which comp although sprayed significant positive response and here in my house already the cries of "Where's Vol.2" accumulated, was the owner of this small but good side yu-punk so nice to upp this awesome gem again for all of us maniacs who love Balkans-Punk-Rock. Two CD's with tons of rare and sometimes demo tracks of bands which earn your kind attention and I'm sure you will not regret it. The sound quality is quite brilliant, a few tracks are known but there is still much to discover and again I must tip my hat when I meet such lovin' self-timbered Compilations, and this piece is amazing! - "Mr. Blue, Hvala Vam Od Srca!" Oh another thing, the tracklist below is from CD1 and CD2 is also cool but here too much. And Now: POGO!!!!!
