CHAOS Z - Ohne Gnade 1982

RRR.13 is by far the best record of the Brühler label Rock-O-Rama and if the three, Thomas (vocals/guitars), Andreas (bass), Michael (drums), would have known at the time that Egoldt is a damn profit-oriented bastard and is not a niche for underground bands in the DIY sense, they would certainly choose another label, but the times were different and labels were rare. Chaos Z were founded in summer 1980 by the three above as the Zeroes. In October of the same year they renamed their band Chaos Z. At the same time, they started to write their lyrics in German. Their first vinyl appearance is the awesome Abmarsch EP on Mülleimer Records 1981. They rarely play gigs and there was no indication of the line-up on the records. Only with releases on samplers did it become known that the brothers Thomas & Andreas Löhr were the main members of the band. They existed from 1980 to 1983 and then merged into the band Fliehende Stürme with the same line-up. In 1995 Andreas recorded in single-handedly (Michael had left the band and Thomas died after the recordings for third Stürme CD Fallen) another Chaos Z album. 45 Jahre Ohne Bewährung took up the hardcore of the early 80s. In 2002, Weird System released the double LP Dunkle Strassen (1981-1995 complete), a compilation of all Chaos Z pieces that had been released so far, which contained all the lyrics (apart from that to Rocker Billy) and a summary of the band's history by Andreas. However, as with the sampler Schlachtrufe BRD, the intro for war is missing (however, it was cut out incorrectly on Dunkle Strassen), which was originally included on this album. Chaos Z's music is initially pure hardcore punk that may have been influenced by bands like Discharge. According to their own statements, they also felt inspired by New Wave groups and so more and more elements from the Dark Wave were used which then ushered in the changeWith this album the three have produced a real universal classic and in my opinion, the best German HardcorePunk record ever and the original (appeared with a lyricsheet, which was rather unusual for the shitty label) is every damn price worth. Unequaled, still topical and great after almost forty years!!

V/A - Ultra Hardcore Power 1983

I know this is not the Hardcore Vol 1 sampler that was required (I'll post it soon) but this one is just as essential. It's the first compilation from Mülleimer Records, the third most important German label in my opinion and have released in six years a few cool german punk records which are nowadays very sought and you can find a few of course on wdthtc. On this platte five bands, Normahl had at that time two records out, their legendary Stuttgart Über Alles EP and their first album Verarschung Total, Chaos Z with four cuts which are already sound dark and personel and already have the later Fliehende Stürme touch, all exclusive. In Stuttgart at home german Oi! combo Herbärds with their first vinyl outputs, two decent streetpunk numbers with funny lyrics. In 1984 the band released their debut album and they're somehow still active. Then Inferno from Augsburg and their classic hardcore tunes which made them interesting for the American punkers and their first album Tod & Wahnsinn is a blast (comin' soon) and last but not least Bluttat from Mülheim who unfortunately did not make the breakthrough, although they had three first-class brilliant hardcore albums with aggressive lyrics and they have been honored by Colturschock Records with a compilation called "Raw And Pure 1981-1984" (1000 copies) with old & rare goodies and I can recommend this record because it's fuckin' great. For a first label compilation not bad, everything sounds very raw and genuine and a year later Part 2 came out with more German underground noises, a better production and with bands which are not under contract upon Mülleimer and on the record are 100% exclusive tracks and it comes also in 192k/Bit in less than eight days. Cheers! and enjoy this early D-Punk classic.

V/A - Underground Hits 1 1982

- First part of Underground Hits on AGR, brilliant song selection, first-class record, if you see this, a must buy! Volume 2 is a bit weaker in my opinion but has exclusive tracks from Spux and Canal Terror, get it!

CHAOS Z - 45 Jahre Ohne Bewährung 1995

When this new album of my favorite band from Stuttgart Chaos Z was announced that time, I was absolutely excited. Ohne Gnade, the hardcore masterpiece from 1982 on Rock-O-Rama (the best record of this label) was an eternity ago and everyone knows that the band is now called Fliehende Stürme. 45 Jahre is complete written & recorded by Andreas Löhr, brother Thomas unfortunately died during this time, and has the fresh energy of which other bands of the 90s can only dream about. Critical statements packed in thirteen hits. As far as I can remember, the CD was released first because otherwise I would have the vinyl, 100%ig. As a small bonus, I added the two goodies from the Punkinvasion II compilation in this file. Now I have to open a beer... Salute!

FLIEHENDE STÜRME - Zimmer 12 2008

After a day in the city I have no other choice to post this ingenious record. These are exactly those moments that I feel when I see & hear this fucking society: stupid, empty and desolate. No wonder that mankind must perish. Na scheiß was drauf.... A few words to this piece: Don't call them Chaos Z, it's Fliehende Stürme and one of my all time favorite band. They are a german punk band from Stuttgart. This name change was because the new songs differ significantly from the early days. The musical cross-section of this live document seems like a best-of compilation with all the classics from their albums. The enormous voice of the singer and the unmistakable guitar sound lends the songs an intensity which can be not over-bid. The band understand it, the public, all the same whether Punk or Wave fan, to drag along and exceed all expectations. Altogether all songs are here faster played as on the studio albums which gives the live-versions substantially a more punkier sound. Fliehende Stürme prove again that they count to best volume of their genre. An absolute must for all which stand on intelligent German-language Punk! Sadly bass player Stefan Kniehl passed away in 2011, Rest In Piece!

V/A - We Don't Need Nuclear Force 1985

Another important but small German punk label was Mülleimer Records from Stuttgart which put out some very good records from 1981-1986. Bands like Chaos-Z, Boskops, Normahl, Herbärds, Inferno and Maniacs, etc.. were thus known and this piece I think is the only international compilation on MR. The first pressing contained a strictly limited bonus EP and is much sought nowadays. A little review brings the sound to the point: "A pretty good world sampler featuring mostly previously released material that falls under the ranks of punk, hardcore, and post-punk. Some of the talents in the limelight are BOSKOPS, VARUKERS, TOXIC REASONS, RATTUS, WHITE FLAG, BRISTLES, and many others." - Martin Sprouse (from Maximum Rocknroll #36, May 1986)
A good start for Sunday hopefully tonight ends with 3 points.

1.Bob Hope - APPLIANCES
2.Cross To Bear - UPROAR
3.God Bless America - TOXIC REASONS
4.Warheros - BRISTLES
5.Addicted To The Night - MANIACS
6.Ticket To Moscow - WHITE FLAG
7.I've Got A Picture - AUSBRUCH
8.Boskops - BOSKOPS
9.1984 Part II - BRISTLES
10.Deutschland Brennt - AUSBRUCH
11.Victims - APPLIANCES
12.Cross Dogs - WHITE FLAG

FLIEHENDE STÜRME - Fallen 1995

In these dull days, the new fantastic album of Fliehende Stürme (Neun Leben) has been released and I post 'Fallen' because the band has suffered a lot of emotional losses like me and I think this album fits and illustrates my current feelings. Short useless info: Fliehende Stürme is a German punk band which emerged from the Stuttgart hardcore punk band Chaos Z (exists from 1980-1983). This name change was made because the band wrote new songs in a different style, more melancholic and gloomy, away from hardcore sound. Fallen is the third album and shortly after the completion Thomas Löhr died. "From defiance, and also to carry on somehow", so Andreas Löhr, he finished the LP and it has become one of the best in my opinion. A lot of memories come on there when I listen to this record; lost love, drunkexcess, rage, etc.. the perfect sound for all these things. The entire songs come not whining therefore, quite the contrary, most songs are characterized by anger and aggressiveness and lyrically of course again very emotional and personal to the point. The perfect interplay of lyrics, melody and atmosphere makes this band and this record so unique. Enjoy Life and the upcoming weekend.

FLIEHENDE STÜRME - An Den Ufern 1988

One record, the appearance of which I was eagerly awaiting at the time, was the debut of Fliehende Stürme, a three piece which founded 1983 in Stuttgart by Andreas (vocals/guitars), Thomas (bass), Michael (drums) and I must admit, I was positive surprised. Released via Storm Records, An Den Ufern has eleven intense hymns which put an end to the legendary chapter Chaos Z, in order to rise again from the ashes with Fliehende Stürme like Phoenix. The partly direct, hard and dirty songs always come with a touch of melancholy, statements of which one can often nod in agreement in good as well as lousy times, they always hit the core and make clear what every song is about. Driving songs characterized by massive guitar riffs with a charismatic sonorous voice. You go through deep dark valleys and stay there for a while to climb back up stronger. A push to unknown worlds to places you know or will get to know, and this is the perfect sound for these experiences! To date, eleven stories have been published and more are sure to follow, so come a little bit closer and stay for a while, Honey.

FLIEHENDE STÜRME - Priesthill 1991

I was completely enthusiastic about the debut album An Den Ufern, so I eagerly awaited the successor from the Stuttgarter Fliehende Stürme (check Keine Experimente II compilation). Priesthill followed three years later, also released on the band's own label Storm Records. Shrunk down to a duo, Michael (drums) left the band, the brothers Andreas & Thomas Löhr used for the firtst time a drum machine and synthesizers as new instruments and it works surprisingly very well, with this they created their own typical sound, which become the character of the Stürme. Nine songs were recorded for this goodie, which are strongly reminiscent of the previous band Chaos ZMusically, the two move from the Hardcore/Punk of the early Eighties with a pinch of Darkwave; aggressive & angry, constructed in bitter desperation, to that strong words about broken relationships, human abysses and the vague feeling of being a stranger in society (I see myself everywhere), prosaic lyrics, completely detached from schematic constraints, just following your own feelings. But enough blah blah blah, I'm a friend of their music and numerous live experiences confirm my sympathy. Enjoy the record, enjoy the Weekend my friends! - 💗 Heike, I wish you a Happy Birthday!! 💗

TORPEDO MOSKAU - Malenkaja Rabota 1984

TORPEDO MOSKAU were formed by former members of SLIME, TARGETS & NAPALM and their first apppear with two songs on the compilation Keine Experimente II which was released as well on Weird System, including famous bands such as EA80, Neurotic Arseholes, CHAOS-Z or CRETINS, and a song on the great Life Is A Joke Vol.2 compilation (international bands). The tunes by Torpedo Moskau reminds a little of Wipers and with their psycho-demanding lyrics the four Hamburgs drive at the usual beer & anarchy lyrics of many German-punk bands of the 80s by far. When i first heard the LP, it has me equally excited and for me a milestone in German punk culture. Includes all artwork.
