From my Wanted List now this 7inch which was released only as a promo one. Both songs are included on their third album Under The Big Black Sun. X formed in 1977 inside the L.A. punk scene. Charismatic vocalists John Doe and Exene Cervenka were joined by drummer DJ Bonebrake and guitarist Billy Zoom. The first four albums of the band were produced by ex-Doors Ray Manzarek, who also played keyboard on some of the songs. The band released seven studio albums from 1980 to 1993. After a period of inactivity during the mid to late 1990s, X reunited in the early 2000s, and currently tours. Side A is a classic dynamic punk tune as I like it, the flip gives us a fine ballad. Quick & Dirty!!!! And now it's time for soccer.

TOO MUCH - Kick Me One More Time EP 1979
This superb and fuckin' rare EP was released in a gatefold sleeve on Lightning Recods and it's the last record by this great combo from the UK. Their first one "Who You Wanna Be" from 1978 is a killer too. First, this is not my rip and I'm not satisfied with the finish but who cares? - Too Much were John (vox), Russ (guitar), Dick (bass) and Dave (drums) and they play a fine melodic early punk sound, jajaja, cool KBD style but the bands not present on any of this legendary collection! Why? no idea...I would change this immediately but I'm a loser. Well, all three songs are damn good and now I'm movin' into my bed and search my heart.

CHAINSAW - See-Saw EP 1977
Chainsaw is the name of a punk rock band from Brussels/Belgium, formed in 1976 and split in 1978. They were one of the first punk bands in Belgium and this very sought EP was released by Romantik Records and is sadly their only output, maybe the first punk record in Belgium. In 1978 they split and all members went to different punk bands. All four tracks are real killers, snotty guitars, short played songs and I think the singer eats while he's singing, hahaa.. - INCREDIBLE!!! - when this is not punk then I don't know nothing.
ALIEN BEAT - Akrobat 1981
Powerpop from Stockholm with a fat pinch of '77 punk sound is right here. What I wrote to the Danish combo Voxpop goes for this album. A short bio from wikipedia: In 1977-79 they played under the name Cathy & The Heat, but when they kicked the singer Katti they changed their name to Alien Beat. Originally consisted of Asa Johanna Axelsson (vocals), Peter Vial (guitar), Peter Wahlberg (bass), Måns Edwall (saxophone) and Pelle Lidell (drums). Later Asa was replaced by Sebastian Håkansson and Fredric Holmquist joins on keyboards and guitar. Peter Wahlberg stopped and Ted Bolin took over the base. Got a record deal and released three singles and an LP, with in particular was assisted by Magnus Lindberg as producer. When Johan made his punk compilation Ståkkålmsjävlar he took such a song from an LP that never came out. - So Alien Beat is a band where every song becomes an occasion, a relaxing and satisfying state from which to observe the hectic world without expressed with glimmering guitars heartbeating rythm section and sizzling melodies. Convinced?

THE JOLT - s/t LP 1978
Only full length album by this cool band. A little Intro from wiki: The Jolt were a Scottish band formed in Glasgow in 1976. They started out playing 60s covers and then sped up their music, playing a mix of punk rock and power pop. The lineup was Robbie Collins, Jim Doak and Iain Shedden. The band built up its following playing at the Crown Hotel, Wishaw. They enjoyed moderate success during the punk and early new wave era. They moved to London, England and signed to Polydor Records. In addition to their LP they have four 7inches released and their sound are on several compilations. This album is a decent mix of powerpop and punk and the boys know how to do it right. I mean, for 1978 is this amazing.
- Special Thx to Fredrik -
STRUGGLER - Night Fever 7'' 1980
A perfect example how a band changed their music style and became boring are Struggler from Belgium. Founded in 1979, initially the group consisted of 5 members. After numerous changes in the line-up, the group became a threesome from 1988 onward. In 1980 they released their debut 7'' 'Wanted' on Doggy Doo Records in a limited edition and on it are two damn numbers. One of the best punk tunes from Belgium. Also catchy their 2nd release 'Night Fever' although they change more into a dark wave sound which is not bad. Then in 1982 the bands full length album "It Was A Very Long Conversation But At The End We Didn't Shake Hands" which you can get here, came out on Not So Brave VZW Records and they lost total their punk roots. And I find the album is an absolute disaster, dull and lifeless and without big highlights. Schade! Schade! Well at least their second single is a small peak of their classy music.
V/A - Die Tödliche Dosis 1981
The Austrian label 'Lustgewinn Schallplatten' (brilliant title) brought this fantastic, now very rare, compilation out to light in 1981 with mostly bands from Vienna. Melodic songs somewhere between raw KBD punk and experimental oblique-wave sound (A.K.G. and Molto Brutto). A truly explosive combination to me here because i like this diversity and variety very well. Noisy, snotty, and just plain charming. Just click over to Trash Rock Archives and you'll find more infos about bands/scene and songs of the 80's punk in Austria, in German language but very recommended. So enjoy this early classic stuff and i'm looking forward to your comments.

LUDWIG VON 88 & DIE MIMMI'S - Sardellenfilet EP 1989
One split post and here we have a collaboration by the french band Ludwig Von 88 & Die Mimmi's from Bremen/Germany. And this EP had it all. The title track is a pretty nice ska song and both bands act here together. Funny the title track "Sardellenfilet". I believe this song's about the miracle as Jesus got fed up with a few fish and bread over 1000 people. A strange thing...Song #2 is a speedy 3 accord number by the french band and the last is a cover of Neil Youngs "Sugar Mountain" played in a accoustic version (don't know the original) by the Mimmi's. At the end an excellent mix of different styles. Cool idea I think. Get it before it's too late...!
GORILLA ANGREB - @ WFMU Radio 14.03.2006
Gorilla Angreb was a punk band from Copenhagen, Denmark, stripped down to dueling male and female voices and hit-hard instruments. 12 Songs contains this amazing bootleg of catchy, whip-cracking punk rock. Gorilla Angreb exist from 1999 - 2007. Unfortunately, far too short in my opinion. Catch this unique document in an amazing sound quality. Get the full Gorilla Angreb Discography on DU. Big fat thanks to the ripper of this nice one.

ROEG TOEG - Stad & Plat EP 1981
With Roeg Toeg (Rough Harness) we come to a band from Groningen, unfortunately only this one EP was published on Beltoon Records. The band plays a solid punk rock sound with a rather quiet shallow way, you know, sometimes with an accordion or a saxophone as instruments and they do it very very well. Briefly I can say: KBD punk with Dutch/English lyrics. Also suitable for the HC freaks among you. Real honest :)
