57 KEZ - Punks EP 1980

Sweden had one of the largest punk scenes outside of England and the United States in the late 1970s. Scores of bands released records, among them some genuine world-beating classics, like Rude Kids, Kriminella Gitarrer or 57 Kez. Over the years, the Swedish punk scene in a cult status among music fans who created, and many of the former plates cost a fortune to collectors today! No wonder, a lot of the records were released only in small quantities, mostly by independent, small publishers. The same goes for this EP, published by Rockslaget Rosla in 1980 and 57 Kez brings here three awesome KBD tunes which blasts your ass off. Quite brilliant. I think it's their only release and more info about the band I cannot find. Anyway, check this out if you're in music from the first punk wave.

MORZELPRONK - s/t EP 1984

Instrumental guitar collective punk led by producer and guitarist Dolf Planteijdt. The Amsterdam based band puts himself in a tradition that runs from The Ventures, via King Crimson in the seventies, to Sonic Youth. In August 1984 came the first single on Ralbör Records. From surfing to tango, the quartet plays everything in his own inimitable style. With its surf tunes show the band related to the New York Raybeats. But the band is more versatile than the artistic sons of The Surf Aris. Mathijs Houwink (later to the hardcore punk band BGK) plays bass on the debut single. 3 cool songs also here which brings a relaxing feelin' in any living room.

NERVEBREAKERS - Hijack The Radio 7'' 1979

And once again back in Texas with the next band and their second single and a lot of info I found on discogs:

Nervebreakers are a late 70s/early 80s Texas punk band considered by many to be the first of their kind in the southwest. Like many others of this genre, they started out as a high school garage band doing 60s/early 70s cover songs. What made them unique was their range of material; from the music of the English Invasion to Yummy Yummy bubble gum as well as songs from punk pioneers MC-5 to true blue country artists like George Jones. The array of influence from all those cover songs melded into a two guitar, bass and drum sonic assault with a wild child vocalist up front.

The members of the band began writing some of their own songs. 1978 their first EP 'Politics' was released on Wild Child with four tracks, one year later this awesome single. 1981 their last 7inch “Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls” b/w a cover of the obscure Rolling Stones song “I’d Much Rather Be With The Boys”. The band also contributed two songs “So Sorry” (as the Barry Kooda Combo) and “I Love Your Neurosis” to the local punk rock compilation “Are We Too Late For The Trend” put out by ESR (Electric Slum Records).

In 1980 Nervebreakers took on their biggest endeavor yet, recording the full length album “We Want Everything”. Sadly due to band finances this effort was not to be released. Side projects and individual interest whittled away at the band until an eventual demise. Each and every off shoot of the band has been and continues to be incredible, so for now let’s just stick with Nervebreakers. (Frank Campagna, Dallas 2009)

Two fresh punk'N'roll goodies which was made to play loud.

BLACK REBELS - It's Time Of Violence 7'' 1984

Nothing much info about the Black Rebels from Santa Maria Nuova/Italy. This is their only record, self-released and they recorded both songs at Malleus Recording Studio if anyone is interested. Musically here we have not the typical Hardcore/Punk or Oi! stuff but rather a slight metal sound, this is not bad because they kick ass, at least the a-side is a fast metal-hardcore track, and the best is they sing in Italian. Ahhhh, I love this language, as Negazione, scream till you drop. The flip is a bit slower, over 4 minutes, in English and a little more Oi! oriented. Found a review: "Mid- to fast-paced punk tunes. While not thrash, they are really driving with lots of hooks and guitar power. Excellent production as well. Tim Yohannan (from Maximum Rocknroll #24, April 1985) - Overall a very good 7inch from a rather unknown band. Forza Italia!

R.I.P. & ESKORBUTO - Zona Especial Norte 12'' 1984

Legendary split album on Spansuls records sharing two wild and radical bands emerged in the Basque Country: R.I.P. was a punk rock group from Mondragón and were part of the Basque Radical Rock musical movement in the early 1980s and started as Double Zero. They celebrate four great hardcore punk trashers in the vein of the early british style ala Discharge or G.B.H., fast ripping guitars with an angry voice, great!! They released two albums and be a welcome guest on numerous compilations. They disbanded in 2003 when their vocalist died in Bilbao. Eskorbuto was a punk band from Santurtzi which were formed in 1980. They have been one of the most influential bands for Spanish and Latin American punk rock. They are known for their strong attitude and crude lyrics. They were one of the first bands to perform punk with Spanish lyrics. Eskorbuto is a modified word taken from escorbuto (scurvy in Spanish). Along with the band La Polla Records, Eskorbuto has been very influential in the Spanish rock and punk scene. Four intense and strong mid-tempo goodies. Yeah, I love Spanish punk, always a pleasure and gladly taken. Salut!!

V/A - Bloodstains Across Australia 1998

Today I  kick off with rare punk stuff from down under and the Bloodstains comps have become a monster of their own and I think all releases are somewhere in the network available. The reason for this post is again the excellent rip and the complete artwork and finally, of course, the gifted music on it. Everyone's heard the classics by Razar, Victims, Rocks, Leftovers, News and Fun Things....all great bands, but they're on dozens of other compilations so it makes no sense including them here. Instead you'll get a taste of some killer Australian punk (previously uncompiled tracks) you might have missed.

2.Dance With The Führer - SKUNKS
3.Threats - YOUNG IDENTITIES
4.Police - PROLES

RIVALS - Here Comes The Night 7'' 1980

No wonder that this band is represented on several compilations, Cheap & Nasty # 1, Back To Front #3, Punk Rock Rarities Vol.1.....because their sound is hot and snotty, here's their 2nd one with two goodies. A bit info: The Rivals were an English punk band from Ramsgate, Kent and were active from 1976–1981. They released two 7inches on Ace Records. This here is their 2nd one with two cool tracks. Here's a reception about this record I like to use from wiki: "But it was 'Here Comes The Night' that attracted attention in London. Mike Read made it his single of the week on Radio 1 and Paul Burnett and John Peel were both enthusiastic about it. The scenesters were less unanimous. Some praised the record as 'a spirited version of the song that owes more to enthusiasm than expertise, but thankfully free of cliches and worn out platitudes', but others cited it as an example of 'how to ruin a good song using an ancient Pete Townshend guitar technique and a surplus of unharnessed exuberance', and yet others wished that the Rivals would get back to recording their own material. Nevertheless, for the listener today, 'Here Comes The Night' is probably the band's signature recording, sharp and bright, and the A-side is one of the most frequently anthologized punk obscurities of its time." Well, if you want some more info then click The Rivals. Superb record!

ARAM & DIE SCHAFFNER - Zieh Nur Alleine 7'' 1984

This rare record was released at Sneaky Pete Records and is the only output from Aram & Die Schaffner. The band were founded 1981 in Düsseldorf, a few members played later in Die Toten Hosen and Aram was kind of a rag-tag combo to make music at all and gigs they had not much, of course they did not long exist. But this little piece of vinyl is nowadays on top in the lists of the sought-after plates, and certainly pressed in a small edition. Musically we have two solid punk tracks with a typical touch of the Düsseldorf sound like Mittagspause, KFC, ZK or Fehlfarben. Peter Hein, singer of Fehlfarben, founded Sneaky Pete Records 1984 in his hometown of Düsseldorf after he left the band. Features of the publications was that Peter used the phone number of his friends as catalog numbers of his publications and most bands on his label come from the Düsseldorf scene around the Ratinger Hof. In the late 80's Peter closed the label. So this two mid-tempo rockers are delicious and they had the potential for more.... Mörder!!!! Mörder!!!!!!

V/A - Bootprints Across Italy!! 1999

Here's a mixed bag with really good stuff from Italy. This unoffical release came out 1999 on Bootprint and like Killed By Death #77 this compilation includes the complete records from all the bands. Dominant here is a damn good Hardcore/Oi! sound and all these songs were recorded in the 80s and every original is highly coveted by many collectors and I'm always glad if someone takes care and put all such rarities together and make it available again.
