The weekend is here and let's tackle it with a real blast. In keeping with the blue sky and sun, the title track goes mercilessly into my veins and shoots me forward, and whatever may come, I swing over it. A real PowerPop gem have the three with this song create and listening three times in a row is still not enough. The flip shines with a solid instrumental piece which is just as well played. 1000 copies were pressed on their own Really 3rds Record label without a sleeve. A bit info from discogs: "From Pontypridd in Wales, Really 3rd were a trio comprising guitarist Neil Lawrence, bassist Paul Pember, and a drummer identified only as Philip. After the self-financed release of the single "Everyday, Everyway," they changed their name to Shake Some Action in 1982 and became a mod revival band, but don't appear to have recorded in their new identity." No wonder that the song is used on a hand full of good compilations (Powerpearls Vol.1 for example). I say: Chapeau!

THE PARTISANS - Hysteria EP 2001
Now militant island stuff and something well-tried and you know I'm a lazy writer I quote a suitable one which I found in the web, written from back then: "If you are really into early UK Punk, chances are that you're a fan of the Pogo punx the Partisans. These guys are back together after thirteen years of silence, but with only two original members Spike on vocals and this time around on guitar also, and Lealand still on guitar. They're back with a new EP titled "Hysteria" via the American label TKO Records. The songs on this slab could have easily been on their second album The Time Was Right. The Partisans are still not afraid of showing their energetic clash influences instrumentally on all three tracks. The lyrics talk about how everyone else is making more money, and etc. (the usual from this band). All along this whole three song record will have you singing the tunes after just one listen for the rest of your life. You know you want this because this is just another great "Top" release by a classic band, so go grab your wallet and buy it, or if you're too "Punk" to buy it steal a copy. (Thx to Brett)" - In 2004 they released their last record and two years later the band toured the UK with fellow Welsh punk band Picture Frame Seduction and played the Punk & Disorderly festival 2007 in Berlin. No further plans are being made to play live, although on 27. November 2015 they opened for the Italian glam rockers Giuda @ Orion, a rock venue in Ciampino, a small town near Rome and maybe they'll come back with a bang, who knows.

TWEED - Fashion EP 1981
And because it's so beautiful in France, we stay a bit and find another rare debut 7Inch by Tweed on Smap Records, a three piece from Rouen and consisted of Stéphane (vocals/guitar), Christophe (bass), Eric (drums), and the band was created while the Revival Mod Movement at that time. Tweed shine with three catchy melodic PowerPop songs, that they sing in English, and I'm sure every heartbeat of lovers of this genre beats faster, including me, when you listen to this. At the moment I am digging up the treasures that slumber on my hard drive and that's because I'm in a Mod/PowerPop flow and enjoy this good mood sound and I'm very fond of these treasures. It's impressive in how many countries this style found its way into, and it's important to be different from the stupid, content & wrecked society. They made two more records and in the early 90s they disbanded, honored on some good compilations.

PIZZA O.D. - Maison Hantée EP 2012
Second EP from the Lyonnais trio! with four tracks and this is really a good record, catchy '77 style goodies mixed with a little poppunk and the lyrics are nihilistic but good to hear. The band is Alex (vocals/guitars), Marie (bass), Vincent (drums) and they made two 7Inches and two tapes. Well, I can't tell you more here either and I bought the record because of the low price. I guess, the band has already broke up. This superb slab was released by the band themselves and came in three different cover colors. The proof that cheap slices don't always have to be bad has Pizza O.D. clearly refuted and that the French can still write good punksongs as well.

THE RAZOR BLADES & FLERE DØDE PANSERE - Forhadt Ungdom EP 1983
Solid Hardcore stuff from the early 80's on DK Decay Records with the Razor Blades from Glamsbjerg and they were active in 1979-1984 and consisted of Johan (vocals), Gug (guitars), Søren (bass), Martin (drums). They made two 7Inches and a tape in their short lifespan. Two compilations followed in the beginning and middle of the 2000s. Flere Døde Pansere were Bente (vocals), Gug (guitars), Morten (bass), Yrza (drums) and, I guess from this place as well. This band with female vocals only did this split EP. I don't have more infos, but that's enough for a quick post tonight. I received new records and I dedicate myself to them now. Eleven goodies for my favorite day of the week...

THE NEW GUITARS - Laught At Me 7'' 1980
Before another important match in an hour rolls on in the Bundesliga, I'll adjust the mood accordingly with the next slab by the "New Guitars". A short project by Pete Stride from the Lurkers and John Plain from the Boys and they made an album in 1980 New Guitar In Town. 'Laugh At Me' is a cover from Sonny Bono (first release in August 1965) and was released via Beggars Banquet as the album's sole single (I haven't heard the album, but it's supposed to be excellent). Two great PowerPoppies (oh no.. not again) of the very finest smiling at me, and fit seamlessly with the roaring blasts of the previous posts. You either listen or you will be fucked. ⚽🍺 Cheers!

CLOCKWORK SOLDIERS - Wet Dreams EP 1984
Ahhh, there is nothing like a long, healthy sleep and a hearty coffee to greet the world with. I start today with the Clockwork Soldiers. An Oi! four piece from Leicester and they were formed late 1983 and consisted of Timo (vocals), Doc (guitars), Roche (bass), Penny (drums). Their only record is the three track Wet Dreams EP from 1984 on Rot Records, followed by two demos in 1984 and 1985. However in 1985 the band were tired ot the constant problems that appeared as soon they were going to perform live and fell apart. Vocalist Timo then went on to form the Oi! combo The Glory. A review by Jeff Bale Maximum Rock'N'Roll June 1984: "The title song is an hilarious trashing of the Everly Brothers classic All I Have To Do Is Dream, with altered X-rated lyrics. The flip contains one slow, tuneless Oi cut (In The Name Of Science) and a much better speedier number (Suicide). The production is absurdly muddy, and the B-side label has the wrong song order." I think he described the slab excellent and a decent production would indeed have been desirable... never mind, thousand times better as the junk on the radio or senselessly climbing mountains, right!

HEARTBREAKERS - One Track Mind EP 1977
After a long working day, now a classic and certainly no strangers for the most of you. "The Heartbreakers are an influential 1970s New York punk act formed by Johnny Thunders (guitar/vocals and principal songwriter) and Jerry Nolan (drums) after they quit the New York Dolls, along with Richard Hell (vocals/bass) who had just left Television. Several months after intially forming the band, the trio added rhythm guitarist Walter Lure (vocals/guitar). The band quickly became one of the most popular and well-known underground bands in New York City, headlining shows at CBGB, Mother's (located across from the Chelsea Hotel), and Max's Kansas City." This three song EP came out via Track Record and was taken from their only studio album L.A.M.F. and kickin' very well, including a live piece and a famous cover version of an oldie. I like it, and it's good to hear the old stuff again.

OPERATION GOMORRHA - Born In Sixty Four 7'' 1984
The following rare record was made by a Hamburg band which consisted of Marion (vocals), Jörg (guitar), Slaughter (bass), Michael (drums) and was released in a small edition via Gabba Gabba Hey Records. We're talkin' about Operation Gomorrha, a band which hardly left any traces and in the legendary Hall Of Fame of German punk bands rather a lower rank occupies. Is probably because their slab is spread over a small label and not much more recordings exist. But what the four deliver here is top notch, the title track is a catchy decent mid-tempo track with an excellent guitar (great solo) and driving rhythm and sung in English. The flip in German is a little anecdote about life as a uniformed folk hero in the former GDR. Born In Sixty Four is a damn cool record that doesn't have to hide and a real secret tip. Antesten und genießen!

X-PULSION - You Are Nothing But Schmucks 2017
Holy Stratocoster, it's time for musical delicacies in this theater. Transported from the shallows of dirty stinky cellars, full with empty beer cans, and to my astonishment: all of this pretty rough and pretty amateurish, but enjoyable. Stuff by X-Pulsion from Brussels, the direct successor of the defunct Belgian combo Chainsaw and formed circa 1977. The band consisted of Peter (vocals), Jerry (guitar), Michel (bass), Klaus (drums) and their only release was a split 7Inch with Streets, released 1978 via Romantik Records. They played a few local gigs in their short lifespan and it's amazing that after so many years some lost recordings are still showing up. Persistently pursuing an idea pays off. This loud goodie was made by Belgian Waffles Records, pressed in an edition of 50 copies and all songs are '78 demos & rehearsals from different cassette tapes (except B6 from Follies TV Broadcast February 1978) and comes with a decent twenty page booklet. Fuckin' Great Record!
- Great Thx to Fredrik -
