This album contains twenty-two fine examples of straight ahead, hard sitting, loud-fast-stupid '77-'78 rarities from Australia, the USA and even one from a crew of Swiss alpine yodelers. No faggy speed metal guitar virtousos, no dischordian 'awareness' - just plain ole violent, simple and sexiest hate-mongering Punkrock, recorded while Henry Rollins was rocking to Kansas. A fucking Must Have!

CHRIST ON PARADE - Sounds Of Nature 1985

Last grenade for today and what a blast. I remember having this record, but it too has disappeared, I believe lent and never seen again, I wasn't very careful with my records that time (I realize again). Well, afterwards you know it always better. A bit info from wiki: Christ On Parade was a mid-late 1980s San Francisco East Bay political hardcore punk band, formed in 1985 by ex-members of Teenage Warning and peace punks Treason. Their debut, Sounds Of Nature was issued on Pusmort Records. The group featured vocalist Barrie Evans, guitarists Mike Scott and Noah Landis, bassist Malcolm Sherwood, and drummer Todd Kramer. Some members lived in the East Bay's legendary New Method Warehouse and they played shows with the Subhumans, Agnostic Front, Circle Jerks and Conflict. Christ On Parade headlined the first-ever show at Berkeley's long-running 924 Gilman venue. They were an explicitly political band and their song America The Myth questioned the United States' foreign policy at the time, while they dedicated Landlord Song to the owner of the New Method Warehouse. With three of the members deep into skateboarding, their music was included on a compilation cassette issued by Thrasher magazine, "Thrasher Skate Rock Vol. 3". Mike Scott left the band in 1986 and was replaced by guitarist Doug Kearney, and in late 1987 bassist Ron Nichols replaced the departing Sherwood. The group officially disbanded in 1989 after touring Europe. Landis would later form Blister (also with Kearney) before joining Neurosis in the mid 1990s. Evans formed psychobilly group the Hellbillys. Mike Scott joined Arkansas ex-pats Econochrist. Nichols formed Grinch after Christ On Parade broke up.

In 2008 the original line-up of Christ On Parade reunited for a tour of Europe and the west coast of the U.S., returning to play two nights at 924 Gilman Street, the famous punk club in Berkeley, CA where the band headlined the very first show December 31st, 1986. 2009 saw the band tour Japan and they toured the western U.S., most likely their final tour, in 2010.

Eleven songs on a high level, nothing to moan... awesome!

IMPULSE MANSLAUGHTER - He Who Laughs Last... Laughs Alone 1987

Ahhhh, when I start listening to hardcore I can't choose another sound, so keep it up with Impulse Manslaughter, a crossover band from Chicago, Illinois, which was founded in 1984 under the name Liberty Cabbage and disbanded in 1993. They were one of the first bands to sign a contract with the German label Nuclear Blast. The band was founded on New Year's Eve 1984 in the basement of drummer Glen Herman with bassist Chris Hanley. A short time later they changed their name and singer Karl Patton and guitarist Randy Sorkin came to the cast. Randy, however, left the band a short time later and was replaced by guitarist Dan. It followed the first appearances in Chicago, as well as other places in the Midwestern. In the fall of 1986, the band went into the studio to record the first EP Burn One Naked & Nuke It. After the release left guitarist Dan the band, so Hanley switched from bass to electric guitar. As a new bassist Nick Stevens joined the band. This was followed by a tour on the east coast of the USA. After the tour began work on the debut album He Who Laughs Last... Laughs Alone, which was released on Underdog Records, in Europe via Nuclear Blast. Until the release, the band held another tour through the US. Since Nick Stevens was considered not particularly reliable, guitarist Mike Schäffer was added to the cast. This allowed Hanley to take over the bass if Stevens did not appear. Later Schaffer left the band again to join the band Abomination. Before leaving the band, two more songs were recorded for Metal Blade's new Labe, which bore the name Death Records. The song Pills appeared on the compilation Complete Death 2. It also appeared on the European version of He Who Laugh's Last... Laughs Alone, along with the song Piss Me Off. To replace Stevens bassist Vince Vogel came to the band, which Hanley could permanently switch back to the electric guitar. In this cast they recorded the next album called Logical End. The album was released in the US via Walkthrufyre Records and in Europe via Nuclear Blast. During the recording Hanley left the band, followed a short time later singer Patton. The new guitarist was John Tolczyk and vocalist Guy Aitchinson. As the sound of the music had changed dramatically due to the line-up changes, the band decided to change their name briefly in Vermicious Knids. They changed their name back soon and singer Patton was back in the cast. Following the release of the album, a tour of Europe followed along with Rostok Vampires. Since Nuclear Blast was still inexperienced in the planning of tours, the tour ended in disaster because performances were badly prepared or had to fail. As a result, members left the band. First, Hanley left the tour, followed a few weeks later by Herman and singer Patton.

However, this didn't mean the end of the band. As new drummer Dan Duchaine came to the cast, as new guitarist came Rob Lanam. After being out and about for nearly two years, the band recorded EP Sometimes in 1991, released through Nuclear Blast's label Mind Control Records. During the recording Tolczyk left the band, as he dedicated more to his side project, so that the band consisted of only four members. This was followed by the split release No War with the German band Provocation. Rob Lanam did not show up for the rehearsal, so Rick McKelvy played for him and joined the band as another member. After a tour through the US, as well as some performances in Canada, the band broke up in 1993, after drummer Duchaine and bassist Vogel had left the band.

After the separation, some members went back to the studio to make a final recording. However, this recording was not released until 2004 as a compilation Live @ WFMU on Beer City Records.

ZYKLOME A & MORAL DEMOLITION - Repression EP 1983

Start today with two Belgian hardcore bands. On the left hand Zyklome A which were active from 1980 to 1985, located in Bonheiden. They released one fantastic record Made In Belgium in 1984 and that was it. On the right Moral Demolition from Antwerpen, active in the early 80s and except this EP, nothing remained. In 2007 the Danish label Arg! Records released a 10Inch with ten songs, recorded live in Hoorn 1983. So this litte dittie came out via Punk Etc. and opens a hopefully exciting & eventful weekend, six heart attacks are very helpful... cheers!

ANDROIDSS - Getting Jumpy 7'' 1981

Formed as Lincoln Road Loonies in 1978 but soon they changed their name. Getting Jumpy is the one & only record by the Androidss from Christchurch on Ripper Records. The band consisted of Steve (vocals/guitar), Frankie (bass), Mark (keyboards), Neil & Mark (guitars), Eric (drums) and were named after Phillip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? (did someone read that?). Three songs we have in this post, the third I added as a small bonus to show you what a great energetic live band they were. Auckland Tonight is undoubtedly their known piece and always gladly seen on numerous compilations. Sad news at the end: Steve died in 2009 and Eric in 2011, commemorate both while listening to this little nugget.

BROKEN BONES - Never Say Die 12'' 1986

Broken Bones are a hardcore punk band founded in 1983 and led by Anthony 'Bones' Roberts. They evolved from the band Discharge, and later moved into a style known as crossover. They have released eight albums, three EP's and a number of singles. The band has gone through a number of line-up changes over the years and have toured internationally. They has been cited as an influence by some of today's most prominent punk, metal and hardcore acts such as Metallica, Anthrax, Hatebreed and many more. They have also been key in the development of thrash metal (and its offshoot, crossover thrash) as bands such as Slayer have cited them as being a key influence. I had some slabs but somehow none is left, lent or sold. Solid UK Punk trasher!

STORMBRINGER - LSD 7'' 1982

More rare sound follows with Stormbringer from Linz and the band consisted of Walter (vocals/bass), Michael (guitar/keys), Rudi (guitar), Jonny (drums) and this is their lone record on Intervox Records and we have two solid rockin' goodies. I used the flip for the essential Bloodstains Across Austria compilation, where LSD would also have found space, but now right here. I guess the band disbanded shortly after release and weren't further musically active, like many others. Well, some treasures sleeping long before they are discovered.

DISCHARGE & THE FILTH - Anytown/Freedom EP 1980

Rare EP (500 copies) on Go Round Records with two English combos. Discharge were formed late 1978 by Gary (vocals/guitar), Bri (guitar), Dave (bass), John (drums) in Middlesbrough (not to be confused with the punx from Stoke-On-Trent) and these both tunes are their only recordings. About The Filth is not much known, the band consisted of Kevin (vocals), Niggsi (guitar), Mich (bass), Martin (drums) and it exists an unofficial compilation called Blue Law on Retro Records with twenty shots which is hard to get, with demos and rare live recordings, I guess. More infos about this release on Bored Teenagers and Discharge made it on first release of this series. Charming and very interesting minimalist work of art.

XUTOS & PONTAPÉS - Sémen 7'' 1981

Nice debut single on Rotação by Xutos & Pontapés with two solid numbers. A bit info from their home: More than three decades after start-up, Xutos & Pontapés are the emblem of what rock & roll means in Portuguese, by Portuguese, to Portuguese. Owners of a collection of classics that would make many bands gnaw at envy. Two guitars to open, one drum to beat, the bass to pulse, 1-2-3-4, three basic chords, and the unbridled running of the horse. It's been this way for 37 years and will continue to be so as long as Tim, Zé Pedro, Kalú, João Cabeleira and Gui continue to believe in the power of rock'n'roll, the energy of being on stage and sharing these songs with the band. audience that made them hymns. The Xutos remain the rock'n'roll locomotive that drags crowds. Whole generations, parents and children, together celebrating songs that are already part of our history. ADOLESCENTS - s/t LP 1981

One of my favorite records is the debut by Fullerton's Adolescents on Frontier Records, also known as The Blue Album due to its cover design. Recorded after guitarist Rikk Agnew and drummer Casey Royer joined the band, it features several songs written for their prior group, the Detours, including "Kids Of The Black Hole" and "Amoeba", which became two of the Adolescents' most well-known songs. Adolescents was one of the first hardcore punk albums to be widely distributed throughout the United States, and became one of the best-selling California hardcore albums of its time. The band never toured in support of it, and broke up four months after its release. The Blue Album lineup of Rikk, Casey, guitarist Frank Agnew, bassist Steve Soto and singer Tony Cadena reunited several times in subsequent years, but only for brief periods. This is Weird System version with the Welcome To Reality EP as bonus. There's lots of information, reviews about the slab in the net so I save more words except: a damn must!
