DAGEN D - Mitt Kompani 7'' 1981

From Umeå, east Sweden comes this short-lived band and they released their only 7'' on Fest Records and if you look at the great cover that alone should make you curious. Two amazing songs in native language plus the excellent guitars push their sound, which is fat produced, out of your house so that everyone who passes your window has the urge to give you some money, his wife or share a drink with you. The lightly swinging rhythms attracts every slaughter, who didn't slip off his personality. I can only speak for myself, hahaha.... - And once again, I can't telling much about the band. Why? No info at all and I can't force one out of my ass. It doesn't matter, the music is brilliant and if you understand (or not) a damn swedish word, you will be certainly excited. A click to Vägra Raggarna Benzin - Punk Från Provinserna 1978-1982 Vol.3 & 4 is definitely inevitable. Respect!

V/A - Bremen Under Cover 1989

With a warm Grog to my left now another compilation with bands from Bremen on Strange Ways Records and it's the second cities focal point after Musik Aus Bremen but here with mostly combos that are all unknown to me with not much punk on it but with cool stuff. REVENGE 88 - Thousand Years From You 7'' 1982

Here's the second 7inch on J.D.M. Records from Revenge 88, punx founded in Oostende and they made in the early 80s two great singles and it took until 2002 in which a new lifesign of the band, again as 7Inch, was born. I like their first record Alone much better because more punk and more power, not for nothing on many compilations chosen, while here are more wave elements flowing in but still audible. Underground rock has a name, Revenge 88! Back to Liège...

AKUTT INNLEGGELSE - Echoes From The Asylum EP 1983

Akutt Innleggelse from Fjellstrand started off as a noisy punk outfit in the early 80's,  featuring adolescents Thomas & Bengt (aged approximately 13 or 14) and their friends Rolf and Espen (only slighty older). Their first trip to the studio, in 1983, yielded the Echoes From The Asylum EP, released on Thomas' newly-formed Straightjacket label. After replacing Espen and adding Bjørn on vocals, the band headed in a more "hardcore"-sounding direction. An April '84 session produced a nine-song demo; several tracks from this ended up on various international compilations. In 1985, the band called it quits. Thomas (aka Happy-Tom) and Bengt (aka Bingo) went on to play in Turbonegro. (Thanks to Bård) A raw, mid-tempo three-track EP from Norway. On their first vinyl release, Akutt Innleggelse displays a primitive, amateurish punk attack. It kind of slouches along without noteworthy choruses, but the lyrics are good and the guitar lead in "Superstjerne" is awkward enough to be really cool. -Jeff Bale (from Maximum Rocknroll #16, August 1984) - On numerous compilations to guest, great stuff!

MUFF POTTER - Auf Wiedersehen 7'' 2009

Don't be afraid, this is not a farewell even if the single is called 'Auf Wiedersehen'. It's the last slab from Muff Potter and the song is a cover from EA80 which is immortalized on their third album Mehr Schreie, and was played on their gigs mostly as exit. A pointed song that the Boxis already recorded in the 90's and released as split 7Inch on Blackbox. The boys from Rheine do it decent as well and on the flip is a quiet hitherto unpublished bonbon, Huck's Plattenkiste edition of 1000 copies.

BIG BOYS - Lullabies Help The Brain Grow 1983

Moment Productions released the third album by Big Boys from Austin/Texas. They were a pioneering punk band who are credited with having helped to create and introduce skate punk as a new style of music, which became popular in the 1980s. They also were famous by bring elements of funk into their hardcore punk style. Band members were Randy "Biscuit" Turner (vocals), Tim Kerr (guitar) and Chris (bass). The key members of the band were childhood friends for a decade before the band was started. Over the years the group played with five drummers in all; Steve Collier, Greg Murray, Fred Schultz, Rey Washam and Kevin Tubb who played only one show (the band's first) because Collier was sick. The hardcore punk style, a development from the earlier punk sound, arose spontaneously in various cities, but in Austin it was represented by MDC, Big Boys, The Huns, The Skunks and The Dicks. The bands often played together; Big Boys and The Dicks jointly released a split single and an LP, Live @ Raul's. Their gigs were legendary, frequently involving food fights, with "Biscuit" frequently sporting a pink ballerina's tutu and pink cowboy boots. Invitations would be made to the audience to come up and sing along, which often occurred. At the end of early shows, the band was famous for yelling, "OK y'all, go start your own band." Big Boys were innovative in many ways and were influential in the direction music and music scenes would take in their wake. In 1984 the band broke up.

V/A - Pusmort View 1991

That the Japanese love extreme rough fast hardcore prove the numerous bands whose plates are hard to get in Europe, I guess the other way around it is the same. So it is not surprising that a Japanese label, Toy's Factory, got down to work and focused on Pusmort Records, Pushead's label, and put out this great compilation with bands of it. I had numerous records because this sound hit exactly my taste, today I have only one left. Annoys me really, but the times were different and I had to sell a lot because I needed money. Well, in the end it doesn't matter, I'm sure they're in good hands. Enough blah blah, be ready for the unattainable hardcore blasts of the 80's.

DIE MIMMI'S - Was'n Hier Los? 1984

Die Mimmi's were founded in 1982 after the dissolution of Dusseldorf punx ZK (Campino, Kuddel, both now Die Toten Hosen, and Isi, Panhandle Alks) by drummer Fabsi (Claus Fabian) in Bremen. Fabsi was the lead singer of the otherwise fully moved frequently from women existing band and the occupation. After Fabsi didn't found a label for the first 7'' "Deutscher Meister Wird Der SVW", he founded the Weser label, where it finally appeared in self-published, as well as all later Mimmi's albums. The debut album "Was'n Hier Los?" was released in 1984 and from that point on they belonged to the core of the German punk scene.

Meanwhile, the cast changed frequently. Professional commitments of the group members required that many concerts take place on weekends and short tours were about regularly put into the Christmas period. In the press because of the ZK's Song "Dosenbier" they were often counted for Fun-punk, a term that they felt themselves to be too superficial. Visit the Mimmi's at home for more info. The sixteen songs handle mostly from the strange thing called love and the little everyday things that happen in life as a Punk. In 1996, the Mimmi's broke up after internal strife and private blows. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Weser label in 2002 Fabsi and drummer Lars decided to revive the band and since then they are ravaging the German cowsheds. ØRESUS - Galt Et Sted EP 1981 + Mannen I Badekaret 7'' 1982

Øresus ("Tinnitus") started in Skien in 1980 with Frode Olsen on bass, Pål Lillefjære on guitar, Ragnar Khøn on drums and Jan Ove Lorentzen on guitar and vocals. They were soon the leading band in the Telemark area with their mixture of punk, rock and ska combined with crass lyrics about society at large, sung in a Greenland dialect. They released their EP Galt Et Sted ("There Is Something Wrong Someplace") in 1981 and they went on to win the local Championship of Rock the same year, but boycotted the finale in Oslo as a protest against greedy promoters. In 1982 they released the single Mannen I Badekaret ("The Man In The Bathtub") and the year after they released the LP Ansikt Til Ansikt ("Face To Face" & could anybody send this to me? - The band split in 1983 but will reunite for a short gig in March of 2003 to release a CD of their material." by Bård. - All in all six brilliant kbd killers with a tough tempo, a cool saxophone plus a cute ballad. Yeah!! Compilation: Hurra For Norge #2 – Ich habe durch!
