Friends, the weekend was made perfect on Sunday, the SGE wins after more than twenty years in Munich against FC Bayern, sensational! Now I would have to post a band from Frankfurt, but I can't find one now, so we visit Berlin and meet the Panzerknacker AG. The band were Jürgen (vocals/guitar/sax), Matthias (piano/organ/synth/vocals/drum machine), Jörg (bass), Thomas (drums) and released their only slab on Schnick-Schnack-Tonträger and the record was made without the rock circus of the Berlin Senate for cultural affairs. The album came in a pretty cool gatefold cover with lyrics on it and each song is assigned to a musical genre, "Schlager/Polit Wave","Ska/Popular Wave", "Tango/Rasta Wave" or "Disco/Cool Wave" and the songs are designed accordingly, although in the end the differences are not that big because the same instruments were always used. In any case, the record is a real German rock delicacy with remnants of the punk wave. The lyrics are pretty wacky and far from the hit-and-run effusions of many later successful bands that swam along on the wave. THE ADICTS - Twenty Seven 1992
Tried and tested and not a bit quiet is still one of the most popular bands of the Eighties, the Adicts; And Twenty-Seven is one more great album by the Clockwork Pioneers with eighteen solid goodies in their inimitable style and their music still has irresistible catchy melodies and lyrics. The band has been on the road for over forty years, including long breaks, has released numerous albums and always a real experience live and how they kick you can find out on the Rockers Into Orbit album, which was recorded in 1986. Twenty-Seven was released in 1992 only as CD and is been re-issued as limited edition to 500 copies by Daily Records in 2018 (400 on black and 100 on green vinyl) and worth every damn cent, cool Record!

LARD - Power Of Lard EP 1989
Uhhh, friends ..... bereits Mittag einen im Tee haben ist brutal and I can tell you, last night was ecstatic but that doesn't belong here and is none of your business. Jack of all trades Mister B. has created numerous fantastic projects and the following is one of his first. The baby is called: LARD - A collaboration between Jello and members of Ministry and were founded 1988 by Jello (vocals), Al (guitar), Paul (bass), Jeff (drums) and has not officially toured and has only performed live a handful of times, mostly around the San Francisco area. This is the debut record with three fantastic blasts. Trouser Press wrote that "Biafra contributes a voice, label and sense of humor. That gets matched up to pounding, semi-industrialized rock mixed with excessive punk bites. A casual and exciting bit of supergrouping, The Power Of Lard demonstrates the fun potential in this seemingly unlikely alliance." It can stay that way and by 2000 they had released five records and for twenty years they have been giving themselves a creative break, I am curious whether another poison pill will appear in the foreseeable future... more will follow.

THE REACTORS - World War Four 1980
"Inland Empire's first ever punk rock band "The Reactors," formed in 1978, from the urban city of San Bernardino, California. They played their own brand of fast, raw, and desperate punk rock in the unlikely urban city from where they were from. The Reactors existed from 1978 until 1982. During that time they released their Meltdown EP and their World War 4 album on their own Nuclear Waste Records label; which included doing their own photos, artwork, layouts and production, etc. The Reactors lasted through several line-ups. The first Reactors before the 7" EP were Mike Rodriguez, bass; Al Zenno, guitar; Brad Uhl, drums; and Elizabeth "Dash" Frost, vocals. For the EP, the line-up changed when drummer Brad left the band and was replaced by "Throbbin" Rob Vasquez. In early 1980, Al Zenno left the group. For the album the remaining members recruited guitarist Tony Brammel, who eventually went on to form the Sins and later the soul-rock alternative band, the Bell-Rays. The last edition of the Reactors consisted of a three piece: Dash on guitar, Mike on bass and any durmmer they could find. The Reactors shared bills with many great bands of the time. Recently, their records have garnered much attention from the ranks of Killed By Death punk collectors. Back in the day, their Meltdown EP was released in a rare pressing of 300 copies with two known cover variations which has now become a collector's item of sorts. EPPU NORMAALI - Aknepop 1978
Aknepop is Eppu Normaali's first album which was released on Poko Rekords and "has fourteen straighforward Ramones and Sex Pistols influenced seventies goodies with Finnish lyrics full of youthful energy and political zeitgeist comedy influenced by a Finnish proto-punk/rock&roll band Virtanen." Eppu Normaali is one of the most popular bands -- perhaps the most popular -- in the history of Finnish rock music. They have recorded thirteen studio albums since their inception in 1976 -- nine of these have gone platinum and the rest gold. They've sold over a million albums in Finland, which is a significant amount for a country of five million, and are the rare Finnish act able to sell out 30,000 tickets in a stadium concert. They began as an irreverent punk band that turned toward guitar-oriented rock. Finns have called them "the poor man's Dire Straits," although their output is far more varied than that of Mark Knopfler. Their debut was among the earliest & most popular records on the early young Finnish punk scene. Their sarcastic and hilarious songs, such as "Poliisi Pamputtaa Taas" ("The Police Pounces Again") were beloved by both the music press and the kids, while the mainstream and adult contemporary crowds were either unimpressed or hostile. RAW POWER - Screams From The Gutter 1985
I thought I had already posted this record, but to my shame I find out, No.. so now it's time for a fucking milestone awesome Hardcore stuff and I'm talkin' about the second album by Raw Power from Poviglio on Toxic Shock. The deal with the label came about during a tour of the USA in 1984 when the five performed with the Dead Kennedys in Los Angeles. It was on this show that they were discovered by Bill Sassenberger, owner of Toxic Shock Records. The band signed a record deal with Bill, from which the album Screams From The Gutter emerged and this sold well over 40.000 copies, exclusively through independent distributors and shops. As you can hear, this slab was played very often, cracks properly, but is that a wonder ???? No!, powerful songs with excellent lyrics and vocals that I rarely heard back then. AllMusic editor Eduardo Rivadavia gave the album a perfect five-star rating, describing it as "one of the all-time classics of the '80s crossover movement" and "as seminal a document of '80s crossover as has ever been recorded". I can only agree because there is nothing wrong with this album and a worthy farewell to September. A must have!

ACCÜSED - More Fun Than An Open Casket Funeral 1987
Back in 1987, Seattle crossover/hardcore ragers the Accüsed put out their second album via Combat and on this brilliant record were Blaine (vocals), Tommy (guitars), Alex (bass), Dana (drums) involved and they created a form of sound called "Splatter-Rock" which was screaming, speeding punk/metal. Led by their knife-wielding, justice-avenging mascot debut, Martha Splatterhead, their lyrics range from politics to cartoon-like death and destruction. Five more albums followed and after an eleven-year hiatus in 1992, with members taking time to play in other Seattle bands, they re-formed in 2003, playing live shows in the Seattle area and in 2005 they released their eighth album Oh, Martha! on the band's Condar label. This 'comeback record' landed on Revolver magazine's Top Ten Albums of the Year and writer's lists from Metal Maniacs zine. Well, I think their first album is dirtier and more excessive, here they have slowed down a bit which is also noticeable in the length of the songs, but the gnarled sound and Blaine's vocals make up for this small flaw.

V/A - German Mystic Sound-Sampler II 1991
Now a request post from my WDM Crew and I start with the prologue: In the 80s, the darkwave and gothic scene was significantly influenced from outside, but at the end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s many bands and projects from Germany came to light and woke up the local fanbase with their new powerful and independent sound. Artistically and musically they approached the level of foreign bands as well and created amazingly good songs and the whole thing was fueled at the time by committed fanzines such as the Zillo from 1989. They started this compilation series called German Mystic Sound-Sampler, and in twelve years thirteen volumes have been released, one of them strayed to me. Enjoy!

DEBILS - s/t LP 1981
OK my friends of delicate taste, we are going to take a short trip over to the alpine country and meet the Debils, Toxic (vocals), Rex (guitars), Laps (bass), Christ (drums), from Biene, and they were the only band from the second generation, that did release an album in the early 1980. Their direction was resolute: autodidactic, nonconformist, and apolitical. This was contrary to the intellectual Punk from Geneva or the vain "real and hard" Züri Punx. And, more akin to the Bernese groove, with a touch of francophone mixed within and all songs in french. It's a 100% Swisspunk record and every song on it is a banger and the original record from 1981 is almost impossible to find and therefore it's a bless, that the Berlin label Static Age in cooperation with Swisspunk have reissued this treasure in 2017 in a limited pressing of 488 copies in a delicious gatefold sleeve with a solid insert which contains flyers, pictures, lyrics and some history, of course long ago sold out. Eleven simple, sympathetic songs with fine female vocals in French make this record interesting and its catchy melodies remind me that the Eintracht only played a draw again and I finally have to make my breakfast.
ATTAK - Zombies 1983
We stay tough and spray a touch of streetpunk with the following comrades but we swim back to Europe and land on the British Isles and meet Attak, formed early eighties in New Mills/Derbyshire (the same town as the Blitz) as four piece by Gary (vocals/guitars), Woody (guitars), Chad (bass), Lindsay (drums) and reverted to a trio when their singer left for annoying school commitments. They released two incredible singles in this form, with Lindsay, sister of Mackie from Blitz, being the drummer. A new guitarist was recruited for their underrated classic album before they split up in late 1983. All releases came via No Future Records and they celebrate a decent mix of typical UK punk with Oi!, they on many compilations represented, some are rather superfluous and that's what I call cannibalizing. A small review excerpt from the re-release of their record on CD in 2017 by Ian: "Attak may not have been at the pinnacle of the UK82 scene but their singles were loud, fast and enjoyable and the album showcased some new ideas that were ultimately never followed up...." full length, click louderthanwar.
