MANIACS - The White Rose Of Resistance 1986

In the mid 80s Mülleimer Records released the second album by the Maniacs from Rotenburg an der Fulda and they were founded 1982 from some local bands (Blutverlust and Bunker) and were very influenced by the English hardcorepunk style. In their lyrics, the band took on classic political point themes and sang against right-wing extremism and the established society. They released four albums, three 7Inches and lots of brillaint compilations tracks. On the split with Tin Can Army they slotted decently forward and the twelve songs on this album, I'd almost say, more melodic and mature and mostly over three minutes long which is unusual for a Punk record. But they make it strong and I would almost say this is their finest album. Make yourself a picture and look forward to the long weekend!

ÅTERFALL & VANVETT - Split 10'' 2017

A pleasant experience I must say is this 10'' from Phobia Records/Buzz Box!/P.P.P. Records/Mog Records with two Swedish bands I never heard before and I was curious when I got them, 350 copies were pressed b.t.w. - Återfall were formed 2008 in Västmanland and they have three 7Inches out and this split with four songs which kick with brutal and aggressive energy so that Jesus falls from his cross and wanna pogo. Vanvett are from Stockholm and they have previously released two 7Inches and they increase the whole thing vehemently with five furious and fast crusties! "Don't give a shit-beat!" I think after those sweaty fifteen minutes the saint deserves a beer and says: This is a loud record, no doubt about that either.

BOSKOPS - F.E.D.I.A. 1988

Classic third album by Boskops from Hanover on Boskops Produktion and where Lauschgift ends, goes F.E.D.I.A. seamlessly onwards: offensive, brutal and with clear words. They eyeing the stupid society, even in its own ranks, generating absurd images, global views, etc... Simple, but meaningful. I still like to hear them today and indispensable for every German punk friend. Da geht die Post ab wie es so schön heißt. In 1990, Boskops take part on the first Schlachtrufe BRD-Sampler compilation and a year later the last album Non Plus Ultra was released. End of the 90s the band broke up. Must have!

V/A - Quelle Époque Épique! 1996

After a long time another hot compilation from Get Baque Records, the label with taste & fine touch, presents on its fifth round of great punk classics French Punksploitations from 1977-1983. All cuts were taken by rare 7Inches which rot nowadays in some cellars are therefore difficult to obtain and to secure the pension (if we reach it at all). You can even find some of these treasures here in the blog and should they be down leave acomment to the corresponding post. Of course, also appeared in a limited edition, number unclear, and the excellent mix of Punk, Rock'NRoll and Wave makes once again clear how versatile the French musicians of this time were. At any rate, I can't find any gap fillers so here we go!

ÞEYR - The Fourth Reich 12'' 1982

4th EP in form of a 12'' on Mjöt by Þeyr from Reykjavík and while the Scandinavia tour in early '82 the band gained more popularity and even managed to appear on radio and television in Denmark, they also went to a studio and recorded a few songs which were released on the 12-inch EP The Fourth Reich, in memory of Wilhelm Reich whose books had been banned by the Nazi regime. The image cover was alleged Nazi incitation because it depicted Wilhelm Reich wearing a Nazi-styled armband and the British label Shout was obligated to change the cover. However, it should be said, that the armband shown on the cover contained the symbol of the orgone physics, which represented duality and its origins in unity, referred by Reich as functionalism. On The Fourth Reich the use of percussions and rhythmical efforts were far more important than in earlier works. In this respect, the song “Zen” was particularly important due to its marked rock style, but the album did not have the impact of earlier works because the music was less accessible. In the UK the record was also released via Shout with a different cover.

LAST ROMANCE - War In The City 7'' 1981

Now a damn rare sole release which was released via the famous Swiss label Off Course Records and Last Romance were a four piece from Büren and members were Toni (vocals), Netz (guitar), Buzz (bass) and Pasquale (drums). Two numbers, the title track is fuckin' rockin' mid-tempo killer while the flip is an almost seven minute "marching song", based on Troops Of Tomorrow I would say, very cool. Buzz and Netz already played in Sozz which released two terrific 7Inches. Otherwise, the band was not very active, even no compilation contributions or anything else and I can't tell you exactly how I became aware of them but I guess it was via the labelAnyway, it is fantastic to be able to express ourselves howsoever we choose.

SOCIAL SECURITY - s/t EP 1978

This damn cool record from Bristol's Social Security was the first band on Heartbeat Records and Phil (vocals), Dominic & Simon (guitars), Simon (bass) and Bill (drums) have recorded four gifted dirty numbers which seemingly only the 70s bring. Unfortunately, no further recordings have survived except this killer, on the CD version of the legendary Bristol compilation Avon Calling they are with one piece on top and on other compis that have been tinkered only in the last twenty years. I have to admit, that's not my rip but it's just running and I thought; Holy Shit!, come herein.


COMPOS MENTIS - From Behind The Wall EP 1986

Well, the game yesterday was boring and I fell asleep in part enough of it and before I use the sunshine day a short trip to New Zealand. First record by Compos Mentis from Wellington, active 1983-1987, on Sound Mind Records and they were influenced by overseas bands and wrote politically charged songs that critiqued both mainstream New Zealand and the cliquey factions within the alternative music scene. Described by Simon Cottle of Anti-System zine as “New Zealand's ultimate political thrash band” Compos Mentis lasted for a good half of the 1980s at a time when a more politicised punk scene was emerging in Wellington. "Compos Mentis had no support band, so the gigs started quite late, by which time reasonable crowds had turned up, consisting mainly of “hard-cores” and skins. Compos Mentis' songs may sound fast on tape, but live they were even faster, sparking off some wild dancing, which was slightly rough, but fun all the same. With such excellent lyrics, it's a pity the vocals weren't clear ( better the second night), still, the sheer energy made up for that. The band played amazing long sets, including material off their new EP and even a Crass cover. They were sweating like crazy, but managed to continue by rotating drummers, singers and guitarists. Low points were the filth sniffing around, some jerk yelling at Heather, and someone being knocked over by a grapple, but over-all it was two excellent nights of NZ punk thrash." THE MOB - Let The Tribe Increase 1982

The kick-off of the final Champions League match is near and the two English clubs want the cup and that's why now in recognition a fantastic record from England. The Mob formed in the far reaches of Somerset, England sometime in the late 1970's just as the UK anarchopunk scene was taking shape. The band at this time was the trio of Mark (guitar, vocals, lyrics), Graham (drums), and Curtis (bass). From out in the dark hills this group arrived at an extreme and unique sound: menacing, brooding, and extremely dark music and words with none of the speed or spectacle of their contemporaries. The Mob (perhaps because of their seclusion as a young band) arrived at an inward-looking but equally urgent approach to that of the urban punk set. The bass and drums drove forward unrelentingly as the guitar chopped and slashed fragmented riffs underneath Mark's life-drained, monotone singing. The band's first single Crying Again was released in 1979 (the same year they did some gigs in Holland) on their own. The rest info is in the file so and I still have to buy beers before it starts. I wish you a lot of fun with the game.


DIE LASSIE SINGERS - Helfen Dir 1991

June, summer, sun, beautiful music and since I had the pleasure to spend eight hours in the office today, I need cheerful music now and that's what the Lassie Singers do. Founded 1988 in Berlin-Kreuzberg and parted again ten years later. With their mixture of creative brilliance and technical dilettance, the band musically fit into the tension between late NDW aftermath and the burgeoning indie self-confidence of the early Hamburger Schule. On the one hand, the lyrics celebrated an offensive naivety and playfulness, but often played with a mischievous and charming hostility towards men. Thanks to legendary song titles such as freedom from a man's mouth (Puke), The couple's lie or How a narrow-minded taxi driver has just destroyed a burgeoning young love (Cologne), the Lassie Singers were at times as "female response to die Ärzte". Core of the group were Christiane Rösinger (aka Christiane Hügelsheim) and Almut Klotz (aka Almut Schummel), the rest of the cast varied. The founding member Funny Van Dannen left the Lassie Singers before the first album, but continued to contribute songs for the band. With Kathrin von Witzleben, Herman Herman and Heiner Weiß the band was completed and the first concerts were played at the legendary Kreuzberg SO36. Pretty soon amn got to the major sony, so that in 1991 the debut album "The Lassie Singers Help You" varied. Commercially, it was not very successful, as well as the Moodier successors "Sei A Go Go" 1992. Three years later, Klotz and Rösinger returned with a completely new line-up, including former Ideal guitarist Eff Jott Krüger. With "City Land Crime" and the accompanying single "Schade" the band reached the pinnacle of their success and also convinced the critics. Although the Lassie Singers sounded as pop and professional as never before, but by no means renounce the snappy-grotesque lyrics. After four albums, hundreds of concerts and a lot of spilled pop star blood, 1998 the Lassies are over. Dabeler under the name Klotz + Dabeler. Almut Klotz died in August 2013 of cancer, Britta Neander died at the age of 48 years after a heart surgery in Berlin.
