Surgery was a scummy, no-holds-barred, blues-drenched post-hardcore band from Manhattan's lower east side, that included Sean McDonnell (vocals), Scott Kleber (guitar), John Lachapelle (bass) and John Leamy (drums). Signed to the noisy Amphetamine Reptile label, the band fit right in and made their full-length debut in 1991 with Nationwide. They became part of the feeding frenzy that occurred in the wake of the major label signings of Nirvana and Helmet and they made the hop to the WEA-distributed Atlantic for 1994's Shimmer. The closest, the band got to notoriety in the mainstream sense was when MTV's 120 Minutes program played that album's "Off the A-List" a couple times (not that the band cared). On January 18, 1995, McDonnell passed away, he lost the battle with asthma complications. Saddened by their loss, the remaining members of the band decided to quit. On this single two hardpunkasfuckasskicker for you.

KINA - Troppo Lontano EP 1986
This is the first 7inch by Italians anarchist combo Kina, released on BluBus Records with three rough Hardcore/Punk smasher. The group was formed in December '82, the first concert in January '83. From the beginning, very active in the Italian anarchist punk circuit, they have the chance 'to play in many social centers all over Italy. In the summer of '84 takes place on the first tour in Germany swiftly followed by a second in December of the same year. In the spring of '84 Blue Bus Records was founded. The label was made up of the ideas and the money of two groups: Kina and Franti. Here comes a friendship and collaboration that lasts to this day though in different forms. "I really hope you do not just sit there and waiting to come out the next record of some other unknown group. Don't be a consumer!!! That world of faceless beings around us knows consume is everything: cars, ice cream, new faces, student movements and radical parties. They know how to market and squeeze money from everyone (and I'm not saying that we are excluded). This record (like many others released in Italy in recent years) wants to be a demonstration that may still exist freedom of speech and expression. The condition is to know how to create. No one will encourage you never to say what you think, in fact, also try to eliminate you the ability to think. Raise your head, you hear your scream as far as possible. Want to kill us, we shake hands with those around us, we are counting, let us look in the eyes, perhaps we are the last to believe that "those who are" one day win of "those who have. Do not let's allow to close the curtain." More of Kina's music here on this both compilations and feel free to get in touch while listen to this little pearl!
IXTOC-1 - Gut Ist Was Modern Ist 12'' 1982
Founded in 1979, all puzzled year along for their band name and no one got the link through to appointment of an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, whiches burned weeks ahead. IXTOC-1 were part of the scene at the Kreuzberg KZ36 with all the ups & downs, but while many of the other KZ36 bands not musically surprised, developed IXTOC-1 as a tough core router & that time certainly the fastest-board of West-Berlin. This 12'' is partly full fast punkrock and with the great reggae/dub piece called 'Leben' is a real cracker on it, in my opinion a classic record. The band broke up in 1985 after becoming too much pop and they lost some interest. In memory they remain as one of the first and best of all Berlin Punk bands.

WASTELAND - Want Not EP 1979 + Leave Me Alone 7'' 1980
Another lost punk juwel are these both 7inches and I would like to give you some info grom the great Bored Teenagers site for which I'm grateful because I myself find nothing about this outstanding band:
A rare and obscure UK punk band from outta Canterbury/Whitstable, Kent. Originally called The Infested' who even got their forth coming release advertised in the Zig Zag' independent listings but sadly the band split before the EP was released. This fooled collectors for many years and regularly appeared on "wants lists" from all around the world. After the band had split, two bands formed out of the ashes, Wasteland & The Ignerents. Ben Challis formed The Ignerents while is brother 'Tig' was the drummer in 'Wasteland'. The bands debut release was a 3-track EP and featured the excellent track Ono. The next release was a slight change in direction, Tony Tarrats left and was replaced by Becky Gale. The a-side took on a punk back drop with a more of a pop feel with Becky's vocals while the b-side is a frenzied instrumental complete with keyboards and a violin of all instruments!!! Sadly, this was the bands last release and is nearly impossible to find as only 500 copies were pressed & the band only sold 150 copies at the time. After speaking to the parents of ‘Tig Challis’ they told us that they had dumped the remaining 350 copies in the early 90s after finding them in a wardrobe during a spring clean!!
After the band had split, 'Tig' then went off to university in Sheffield. On returning back to Kent after he had graduated, ‘Tig’ was involved in a very serious motorbike accident which left him confined to a wheelchair with brain damage. He lived out the rest of his life in Spain where the weather was more suited to his live style but sadly died in 2009.
Bizarrely, his brothers band The Ignerents ended when drummer Stan Gretsch died in a car crash after taking and driving a stolen car!!!
All in all five great kbd smasher and on compilations Back To Front Vol. 3, Powerpearls Vol. 9 and Shake Some Action Vol. 8. They deserve all your attention and now I have to get ready because today it's matchday versus VfB.

CRASH - Fight For Your Life EP 1982
This is the first record by England's Punk/Oi Band Crash which was released without a sleeve. And you may should known them from the split EP with Crux on No Future Records which contains the four same songs. The British man's sound are four typical early UK punk cracker at its finest. Fast, raw, a dirty sound, also everything what a punk rock heart desires. I think that these songs are all what they have released. It's a shame because they have hardness and power and can deal with all the other great early UK bands at that time. Fuck It!, brilliant sound to fight against the gray winter depression.

V/A - Bloodstains Across Europe 1996
Friday morning and my computer mouse is broken and I torture myself as I write this line. Anyway, let's start with this delicious compilation by rare 7Inches from Europe and except the Aheads one are all complete, A and B side I mean, I think the same concept was taken for the Killed By Death # 77 comp. - well, we need sometimes something new and in these rapid days we all have to be flexible, so the big machine requires that....all right, musically brilliant, artwork & infos perfect, and the back cover says: 500 copies, but with bootlegs nothing's true....only the music.... who cares? (and don't forget, flexibility)

V/A - Bite It! 12'' 2006
Now a record, I think, which every collector's heart pumps faster (or not your fuckin' gits) and what I doesn't held often in my shaky hands. Six bands with six exclusive songs which were only published here. The 12'' is packaged in a special "shoppers"-board, this provided with beautiful colored on a silk screen cover and was limited to 200 copies. Musically we hear punkrock from four nations. Two of these sounds a little pop, and with Amos (Iranian descent - very interesting) is a small underground pop star right at the start. What bothers me, there's no any info or lyrics inside & that's make the whole box unkind again (yes, I'm very very critical and that makes me surly). Presumably the label Sounds Of Subterrania went out of money ... whatever. All in all, a successful whole and a nice idea. This is 100% sub-culture and I think that counts, maybe you like it :))
1.Eye One Two - COLUMBIAN NECKTIES
2.Try Let It Go - THE CARNATION
3.If I Was A Car - THE DEVIL IN MISS JONES
4.I Don't Want You No More - HARA-KEE-REES
5.There Is A Voice (925 Remix by Synth Lio) - TWO-STAR HOTEL
6.Number One - AMOS
V/A - Killed By Death #50 2003
Well, the flu has me still in the grip and I can not help the shit, sure a terror virus. So better we turn to the next post, another round extremely rare tracks of swedish punk records 1978-1982 which are here gathered on Killed By Death #50. Every single pressed in small editions and today more or less hard to find. Sure, you can find mp3's in the net and for record nerds like me who have not the chance to get the originals are such bootlegs welcome. A few of the goodies can be find on kbdrecords or elsewhere. Needless to say that along with Volume #51 two fantastic compilations in this series are conjured. Only hits, info sheet inside, 500 copies. Don't waste time and start downloading.

V/A - Oi! The Rarities Vol.3 1995
End of the 90s has Captain Oi! brought a lot of very good reissues out and part of it was this small serie called Oi!-The Rarities on five records. We can find there mega rare songs, of course, of mega rare 7inches which were pressed in small numbers and nowadays traded to horror prices. So even people like you and me with little money in our pockets can come to benefit this classics, so that's why such compilations will created....and that's good! And if then a nice litte insert with all information about the records with it laughs the collector's heart. Meanwhile it is difficult to catch up a vinyl version of these tuneful recordings (I myself have only this volume) but at any well-stocked record fair they should be found, so keep your eyes and ears as well.

SEXY BOLLOCKS - What's In A Name EP 1983
In the early punk days a lot of bands (The Kids, Chainsaw, X-Pulsion, Mad Virgins..) belong to the history of Belgium's punk. Most of those bands are quick defunkt and after 1978 there were hardly any more punk releases. In 1980-1981, there were several post-punk records which were interesting and all started as punkbands and remained so in spirit, even when their music changed. But compared to Germany or Holland, punk in Belgium was always less of a phenomena. In the beginning of 1983, the first attempts were made to change this. Punk Etc., the first Belgian punk label was founded. One of these bands, Sexy Bollocks, released this great five song EP. Classic '77 punk rock mixed with a touch of hardcore and the aggressive voice makes this unique EP immortal. Not much info I found in the net but this band fuckin' rules. And with two more songs they are present at the awesome Bloodstains Across Belgium Vol.3 compliation. So listen and feel the anger of this vital short-lived band.
