This band is quite awesome and their debut album is one of my favourite TOP! records, just like WBT and Anti-Band albums. And I recommend you to get this album now. Antidrash is a Hardcore/Punk band formed December 1985 in Athens, Greece. In March 1987 they released their 1st demo tape titled "Sick World" which was including 10 tracks and only 40 copies were distributed by Art Nouveau. Three months later, they released their 2nd demo tape (including 19 tracks) in 500 copies and was distributed exclusively in West Germany from the band's friends Nikos & Pavlos, who later founded Wreck-Age Records. A 3rd demo tape came out as a split with the greek punk group Stress. Their 1st official release came out in June 1989 in form from an EP called Blood In The Streets, released by Wipe Out! Records in 580 copies. This was the first ever Hardcore vinyl to be released in Greece. In Spring 1990, they entered the studio recording new songs for their first full-lenght album "Katastash Kindynou" (Danger Situation), which was released in Summer of the same year. After countless gigs, in Autumn '91, their second album Against was released. In 1996 they released their last 7" simply titled "E". In November 1998, they disbanded. After many years of absence, they reformed in 2005 and still active.

ANTIDRASH - Against 1991
Now autumn comes slowly and honestly I'm not really happy. I guess, I'll have to survive these days with lots of beer to calm my skull. Well, even this time goes by... - I come to the next post, one year after their fantastic debut record Katastash Kindynou shoot Antidrash their second album out, again on the famous Greece label Wipe Out! Records. Musically in the similar direction as the previous album, plus here are some songs with organ which brings a slightly gloomy feeling (for example the first track). Of course, again fast angry hardcore pieces on it and especially the sawing guitars cut it out. A powerful album with twelve good songs.

NEGATIVE STANCE - Angels Of Deceit 1993
Vacation is near and this year I will not visit my second home but the urge to stay there remains, so let's take a short trip to the capital there and meet an interesting band called Negative Stance, one of the most influential bands of the Greek Hardcore scene between 1988-1993. Their distorted melodic sound was at times reminiscent of bands such as Wipers, Black Sabbath or Suicidal Tendencies, but these heterogeneous elements were creatively and distinctively molded together. Their excellent lyrics ignored the usual Punk norms, touched upon various aspects of a dystopian society and remain relevant even nowadays. Founded in Athens sometime in 1988 by Alexandros (vocals/guitar), Alekos (guitars), John (bass), Bill (drums), members of the infamous Villa Amalias squat, Αρνητική Στάση (“Negative Stance”) belonged to the “golden generation” of Greek Hardcore/Crust Punk. Not only did they cultivate a unique sound that kept changing over the years, they also wrote highly memorable song material – a rare combination, indeed. Many of their compositions would feature on each of the band’s releases, but expressed through different stylistic lenses, ranging from the early non-distorted works on the split with the British combo Kismet HC, to the full-on metallic Punk assault on their sole full-length proposal “Άγγελοι Του Ψεύδους” (“Angels Of Deceit”) on Greece’s famous Wipe Out! Records; Genet Records did the international version, making it pretty easy to locate. There was also a 7Inch released on none other than Profane Existence that same year, featuring two songs that were on the album. Like much of Greek Punk, their lyrics were introspective and existential but still highly political. Twelve catchy and varied songs, with tempo and the record was released in several colored vinyl, mine is blue. Enjoy!

V/A - Double Shot 1991
An interesting record is the cooperation between the Greek label Wipe Out! Records and the Belgian Boom! Records which had in early nineties this idea. The chance for bands from both countries to snag a little attention. Musically very quite varied, whether punk, alternative, ska and wave - everything therewith. I would say the perfect sound for a train or bus ride, coz you won't go quick aggressive, you know. Artwork and infos are even cool and so overall a double shot of firing songs.

3.Jericho - NO MAN'S LAND

ANTI... & SOCIAL WASTE - Split LP 1990
Last post and then is wdthtc closed for fourteen days but I leave with an amazing record (1000 copies) from Wipe Out! Records with two great greek bands. Short Info: "Coming from the ashes of PPF, a group formed at the end of 1981 and with only one concert to its credit (Ilioupoli, 1982), ANTI... presented their work for the first time in 1985 at music club Pigasos. The group consisted of Kostas (vocals/keyboards), Mimis (bass), Kostas (keyboards) and a drum machine (which the band named Manolis). They took their name when Agelidis tried to write the name of Anti-Nowhere League in the back of his jacket, but he left no space for the other words except ANTI." The four impress with their electronically driving sound and are definitely in the upper league and can confidently keep up with the English and French Synth-Punk challenge, and the bar is already high there. No cheap copies, five authentic goodies with power and passion! The other side is occupied by Κοινωνικά Απόβλητα (Social Waste), a short-lived Hardcore quartet from Athens, founded 1988 by Dina (vocals), Antonis (guitars), Yiannis (bass), Yiannis K. (drums). The other vinyl appearance was 1989 at the Retous Metamodernus! EP Compilation where they three songs contributed. Musically, they are at home with ponderous, guitar-heavy sounds; in my opinion, their sound accompanies a slightly melancholic mood, which is unexpectedly wiped away by short, excellent Hardcore attacks. Amazingly awesome stuff! They create effortlessly walking the fine line between the two emotions, and guiding you through the vale of tears to kick your ass the next time. They disbanded in 1990. - Unfortunately, both haven't released many records, which I think is a shame because both are Erste Sahne.

APPETITE FOR NOTHING - Don't Kiss The Frog 1997
The small Piraeus label Wipe Out! Records give us this limited to 500 hand-numbered copies by this four piece which formed 1994 in Peristeri/Athens. They started playing as Αποκτήνωση and after two self-released demo cassettes they changed their name to "Ορεξη Για Τίποτα" ("Appetite For Nothing"). They released this full-length album and just before they disbanded in 1999 a last 7Inch with three goodies via Fes Ulopas Records in an edition of 300. The band consisted of Alexis (vocals + guitar), Eleftheria (vocals), Stephanos (bass) and Christos (drums). Twelve catchy mid-tempo böller with female/male vocals and I already know today where I spend my holidays this year :)

ARNAKIA - Στο Στόμα Του Λύκου 1993
A beautiful day ends with the travel documents that arrived by post today, and I want to announce where we are going with the following slab and I found some infos for you: "This album is a landmark in the Greek underground scene. An unsurpassed and unique record that to this day when you listen to it you understand its value. The lyrics are mostly pessimistic and dark and show how much they were influenced by the Darkwave scene of the time. Aρνάκια (transliterated and commonly known as Arnakia) were a three piece that started 1984 in Athens. They played concerts in many well-known clubs and venues (such as Pegasus and Scarecrow). The also participated in protest concerts, and on the famous Anti-Death Recipe Compilation from 1986. As a three member band, Dimitris (vocals/bass), Charis (guitars), Antonis (drums), they release their first record titled In The Mouth Of The Wolf at the end of 1993 via Wipe Out Records. The album features eight melodic nuggets with strong lyrical content and a powerful Punkrock-influenced sound, characterized by dynamic guitars. In October 1996, and while recording their second, self-titled record, their drummer Antonis died due to a heart condition that he had from birth. They disbanded in 1999." Very catchy & pleasant music like a delicious drink, Cheers!

FILM NOIR - Never Ending Dream 1986
A day of rest without a computer is a real relaxation and today I'm fully back, because the important match versus Mainz starts in good six hours. Now to a band that didn't much leave behind, but whose music shouldn't be forgotten: Film Noir, a new wave band from Athens and formed circa 1985 and one year later they released their debut mini-album Never Ending Dream on the essential Wipe Out Records label and it was the label's third release and the line-up consisted of: Maria (vocals), Costas (guitars/keyboards/vocals), Constantinos (bass), Vassilis (keyboards) and Spyros (drums). In 1987 Maria leaves the band in order to pursue a modeling career in Australia. 1990 the band released their second and final album entitled Portrait Of A Child via Aural Art Music Productions and the main vocals was done by Costas Sokialis. After this release the band disappeared. Unfortunately in 1996 Maria dies of cancer and the world has lost another beautiful voice which she impressively demonstrates on the six wonderful and darkly atmospheric songs. I think a woman's voice goes better with melodies like this, I listen more closely and float faster into my fantasy world, I hope, you do as well. In 2013 Eirkti re-released the debut with an extra 7Inch. Before I continue, I cycle to the farmer and get fresh strawberries.

PANX ROMANA - Antartes Poleon 1989
In 1989, Panx Romana released (always through Wipe Out Records), their second record Antartes Poleon [Urban Guerillas]. The platter contains thirteen tracks in all & their sound in this record is more akin to The Ramones & they even cover "Somebody Put Something In My Drink" under the title 'Supression Of The Marginalized'. Such classics as 'The Letter' and 'Vacation In The Army' transmit pretty much everything that the band ever stood for. Also notable is the instrumental 'Tien Amen'. A worthy successor to the first album.

KBO! - Forever Punk 1989
The cool Greek label Wipe Out! Records released this fantastic slab by a Serbian band called KBO!, formed January 1982 in Kragujevac by Saša (vocals + guitars), Aleksandar (guitars), and Slobodan (drums) and they have three tapes recorded (listen here) before they went to Belgrade and made in only four hours their debut album. Sixteen splendid nuggets they pack in and with this powerful sound, the bar is raised high. In 2002 they need a creative break and a new album should follow but has not appeared to date. Now back to rip some vinyl, Живели!

CHAOS GENERATION - Requiem 1989
Three years after their great debut record Athens Chaos Generation made a fantastic successor on Di Di Music with eleven delicious which translates to requiem but the songs are anything but bleak. With this album, they entered a prominent position in the underground scene of every punk respected fan. In 1989 they released the second and last album entitled Requiem. Enriched with fresh influences from their new members, they are now experimenting with a more metallic sound and the difference was obvious from the previous album. The melodic vocals of the first album were replaced by aggressive ones and the sound is more punk which is influenced by the metal scene without changing the dynamic. A. Ambrazis (bass) left the group and Alexis Aliferis came, as well as Dimitris Pappas as second guitar. In the same year the band disbanded. Throughout their course they gave many live gigs mainly in Athens and in 1996 their two albums were re-released along with additional unreleased tracks via Wipe Out Records on CD and a limited number of double vinyl. I can only say that today was a formative one (in a negative sense) and the music of the Athenians is now just right for me. Listen!

CHAOTIC DIMENSION - I'm Not Waiting 1996
A visit to the Music Not Noize blog is always worth and when I saw the Χαοτική Διάσταση (Chaotic Dimension) post I thought to myself "I know this band" and I immediately search my hard drive for the album. And I'm glad I found it. I love Greek punk because the greek punk bands express their anger and disappointment against the system and sing about life problems (racism, government's violence, love stories). The songs on this album are totally great, brilliant melodic punk which goes right in the head and stays there for long. The band create such beautiful songs and this album is a real masterpiece! Released by the famous Greek label Wipe-Out! Records in an limited edition of 500 copies. Meanwhile, this record achieved maximum prices up to € 100 (ridiculous!!). The band from Patra started in 1986, dissolved two years later and reformed in 1992, followed by a demo called 'Years Of Silence', an EP ('93), this awesome record and songs on various compilations and they still active. Superb record from a superb band and one of my favourites!!!
