V/A - Tsjernobilly Boogie 1987

The 80s were a good decade for Hardcore, a lot of great records came out and HC become a new upswing and wearin' a hoodie were characteristic in the HC-scene. One of these cool records is this exemplar, published in Norway by Humbug/Snak Ohm Records, this is an attractive Hardcore/Punk compilation. Every song is a hot purgatory and a band here especially noteworthy is not possible. This record whipped constant from the first tone to the last song. This is a new rip and I have the sound quality and the breaks between the songs improved and so I post this record once again because this is a damn horny slab. Who knows the plate already can confirm that. All other hardcore freaks will be thrilled.  Who knows the plate already can confirm that. All other hardcore freaks will be thrilled.

V/A - Svenska Tonårsgrupper Vol.3 1981

Here's one more rare compilation, 1000 copies made, released through Konkurens Rekårdz in 1981. Full with very unknown bands, a few have made demos, 7inches or are present on some tape sampler. The musical range goes here from little punk to rock a lot of times I'd say, a really good mix. I cannot say much about the bands, like the Åminne Punkfiesta compilation, but what I can tell you this record is the only one in this serie. Vol. 1 +2 don't exist and why they called this #3 remains their secret. But who fuckin' cares??? Everyone can bring out an LP and rename it as you want or?? Cool the little info sheet inside with more information and lyrics and more on discogs for further releases of the combos. Fazit: pretty good album with many interesting impressions. Both thumbs up!!

V/A - Bloodstains Across Denmark 1997

This was my first Bloodstains compi I bought back in 1997. Denmark is a very small country and there's only been a good handful of records being released over the magic years from 1978 - 1982. Most of them are surprisingly good as well as impossible to find nowadays. So reason enough for another fine compilation with unknown rare classics from the old days. A good half of the whole early Danish punk releases has been put out by Irmgard, the most important independent label at that time. Maybe the only one too. The complete label name reads "Irmgardzweimalnebendrittenscheissenplattenbrechtenihredinger". So now you all know. Note there are 25 Cuts on the LP and not 24, Song #9 is also taken from the legendary 'Concert Of The Moment' Live LP. There are many copies from this slab in the net but I was not content with those rips so I do it by myself, hope you enjoy it. All cover artwork included and now let the old days come in.

V/A - Beach Blvd 1979

Posh Boy Records released this Orange County/California punk compilation in 1979 and it's full with classics. This album featured three bands and KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer picked up on the album and started playing tracks, making local stars of the Crowd, the Simpletones and Rik L Rik (real name Richard Brian Elerick, who sadly passed away in 2000). Rodney also wrote the notes for the back cover: "Our Suzy, a headbanger no more, has grabbed her board and headed towards the shore. Presenting The Crowd, Huntington Beach’s first and foremost surf-punk band, in their vinyl debut. The pride of Covina High, 18-year-old Rik L Rik, has of late sung lead for the now defunct F-Word ... If you wore out your copy of Raw Power, try “Meathouse” on for size. Rosemead’s own Simpletones have been labeled “The Village People of punk” by Slash magazine ... Included on Beach Blvd is the Simpletones’ first single “California.” I’m proud to say that I gave them their first airplay on KROQ." I can only recommend this record and in 2005 it was re-released by PoshBoy and I would thank unknowingly Deathburger Blog for words which I grab from there.

V/A - Killed By Death #69 1997

Hui, I'm in a small beer inebriation and my body screams for food. OK, here's musical food with another superb bootleg compilation from the Killed By Death series. "Hey you proud punkrock scum, what we offer you is international punkrock cause it's better.", so starts the liner notes on the back cover and Yeah, this writer's not wrong. This record contains both sides of rare original 7inches from the early wild days and kicks your fuckin' brain out, pressed in 500 copies. The makers have once again ensured that the KBD series are one of the best of all time, as well as a football World Cup. No failure, only hits, no complaints. This record is one of the rarest KBD albums and disappeared very quickly, good luck to find a copy.

V/A - Open Mind Surgery 1985

This U.K. Compilation was released by Bluurg Records and have great groups on it. There's a great variety of music on this sampler, ranges from folk to punk, reggae and hardcore, but there's a nice edge to all tracks, and political lyrics. Noticed, this is not my rip and I don't know where I get this because it's a long time ago but I found it yet and I was not content with the sound, so I filed a little at the sound and the quality is now much better. Never mind, a cool record that has everything what a fuckin' good piece of wax must have.

TAPPI TÍKARRASS - Bitið Fast Í Vitið EP 1982

Tappi Tíkarrass was a famous Icelandic punk/pop band which added elements of funk, disco and jazz to their music, marking a difference from other traditional bands at that time. The band is also considered the first serious music project of now renowned singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir. Bítið Fast í Vítið, which in Icelandic could be translated as 'Take a Firm Bite of Hell or Put Your Teeth Firmly into Hell', was the debut EP released in 1982 by Spor label, it was their first work after the band had formed by the end of 1981 and with five tracks, it featured a song in English titled "London". This release, is the most punk-oriented work of the band if compared to their following and last release in 1983 called Miranda.

KLISCHEE - Normalzustand 1981

Klischee was a Hanoverian political punk band that existed from 1980 to 1984. The band was established in autumn 1980 in Hanover by former members of the punk bands Kondenssators, Rosa and P 38. After about seven months the first album was recorded. This LP gave a very unconventional Punk sound, which is attributable to his strong ska influences about, combined with the extreme left political lyrics. In November 1981, Klischee separated from their former lyricist, singer and guitarist Uli Heuer after the live recordings for the compi Korn LIVE - Ab Geht Er. The ex-Blitzkrieg-member Peter Ahlers was previously in the Band to joined them. With the 1983 released single "Das war der wilde Westen" approached the band to a New Wave sound without losing some of their texts in political sharpness. Previously the band, however, started to change their sound: Spoo also played saxophone, as well as his and Heuer's new songs showed hints of funk and jazz. In July 1984 they played their last gig. Konrad Kittner works with the Abstürzende Brieftauben, which he founded a year before as side project. David Spoo first played with the Trashbirds and in 1987/88 he moved to the Gay City Rollers. Peter Ahlers played with the legendary Boskops then finally set up with Rats Got the Rabies. In 1994 a compilation CD 'Krieg In Den Städten' with all previously released songs plus six previously unreleased rehearsal room recordings saw the light of day. In addition, there are other songs from the band which were never released. Normalzustand is a very nice varied D-Punk album and belongs in every well-stocked household.

BADBOLL - Valen EP 1979

First private release from this swedish band from Stockholm and such a damn classic. This is one of the Holy Grails of Swedish punk for sure! At this stage the band was a trio with a much punkier sound than their later EP Badboll Lever! Three great and very catchy punk tracks with killer gritty guitar sound on this one! Only 500 copies pressed and nowadays one of the rarest punk records. Does anyone know more about them?

INTIMSPRAY - s/t LP 1982

The group Intimspray was created around 1980 in Innsbruck. At the beginning, none of the musicians thought of the continuation of the bands musical career, but band leader Heinz Heisl persuaded his ex-musicians into a unique gig in Innsbruck. However, after the new music follows well-received by the audience, the spark jumped on the whole band and they go further. Heribert Kornfeil, Walter Moriel, Hubert Nedwed, Mike Moll, and Heinz Heisel, known from the rock band 'Abu El Mot', planed only one gig where they would play some modern punk/ska music just for fun, but when the audience jumped on chairs and tables and went wild in the overcrowded Hottinger Club, it was clear that this couldn't be just a one-night stand. When they heared from a viennese band that was also called The Sprays, they changed their name into Intimspray. After some gigs in the local scene, mentionable one as the supporting act for D.A.F., they conquered the Munich scene with the help of their friends the Nighthawks. In 1980 they released a rare EP called Too Much Monsters (lim. 500 pieces), which was pressed in Switzerland and sounds like a mix of garage/punk/ska. In Munich, after Walter left and Bill Pugh (former Nighthawks roadie) joined the band, they became the house band of the RIGAN-CLUB, MARIENKÄFER, WHY NOT,...and later on the famous DOMIZILE. It was the time when new wave got more attention by the major labels, and in 1982 RCA knocked on their door with a record deal. They played some live shows in bavarian television. The teenie magazine Brave made a foto story with INTIMSPRAY in London, where their LP was mentioned in NME. In 1984, after some more gigs in Germany and Austria, the band split (with help from Mr.Luziprak).

ANTIDRASH - Against 1991

Now autumn comes slowly and honestly I'm not really happy. I guess, I'll have to survive these days with lots of beer to calm my skull. Well, even this time goes by... - I come to the next post, one year after their fantastic debut record Katastash Kindynou shoot Antidrash their second album out, again on the famous Greece label Wipe Out! Records. Musically in the similar direction as the previous album, plus here are some songs with organ which brings a slightly gloomy feeling (for example the first track). Of course, again fast angry hardcore pieces on it and especially the sawing guitars cut it out. A powerful album with twelve good songs.

KOHU-63 - Valtaa Ei Loistoa 12'' 1982

Kohu-63 was formed already in 1977, so it can be said that they are one the pioneers of punk in Finland. Their first recordings appeared on a legendary compilation, called Hilse LP, that came out in 1979. Hilse LP was the first Finnish punk compilation and it really has all the important punk bands of the late 70's. After that compilation they only sang in Finnish. Their first record came out in 1981 and it was a EP called 'Pelimannimusaa'. It was released on Poko Rekords. After that Kohu went more and more in a Hardcore direction and they released their MiniLP called 'Valtaa Ei Loistoa', also on Poko Rekords. "The missing link between Lama and the younger Finnish thrash bands. Kohu-63's newer material is considerably faster than the tracks on their '77-like 'Pelimanimusaa' EP. They certainly haven't lost any drive or power, though some of the melodic hooks may have been trampled in the stampeding tempo. Still, a fine record, and check out the Cockney Rejects-Exploited parody ('Härpsälä Kids') for a good laugh.'' - Jeff Bale (from Maximum Rock'n'Roll #3, November/December 1982)

THE JAGS - Back Of My Hand 7'' 1979

The Jags were a British rock band formed in London in 1978, and composed of Nick Watkinson (vocals), John Alder (guitar/backing vocals), Steve Prudence (bass), Alex Baird(drums), Michael Cotton (bass/backing vocals) and Patrick O'Toole (piano/keyboard). They signed to Island Records in July 1978 and initially released a four-track EP. On 8 September 1979, the powerpop single "Back Of My Hand", written by Watkinson and left-handed guitarist Alder, entered the UK Singles Chart. It had a chart life of 10 weeks and peaked at Number 17. "Back Of My Hand" was included on their debut album Evening Standards, which was released the following year. Their follow-up single "Woman's World" entered the UK Chart on 2 February 1980 at Number 75 - dropping out the next week. 1981 saw the release of their second, and what proved to be, final album, No Tie Like a Present. The Jags disbanded in 1982.

GENEVA - Two Minutes Thirty 7'' 1980

Only release by this English band and this rare piece of vinyl is pressed on Valiant Records. Two energtic powerpop goodies here and the b-side was selected for the Powerpearls Vol. 4 compilation. Otherwise there are not much signs of life or information about the band available. Both songs run well and quite cool.

JACK & THE RIPPERS - A Wonderful Piece Of Punk Rock 1997

Jack & The Rippers were one of the first punk bands in Switzerland, based in Geneva, which has at that time an equally vibrant punk scene such as Zurich. Most important members of the band were the brothers John (vocals) and Francois (guitar) Seilern, Englishman with Austrian blood which that occurs from the work of their parents were aground in Switzerland. Their mischief drove the Rippers although only for about 8 months (October 77 - June 78), and therefore the release of their first single experienced no longer as a band. Musically the band can be describe as brilliant power punk with strong English strike on the right track. Their only 7inch was released 1979 on Another Swiss Label in a small edition, 500 copies or so, and is for me one of the best swiss punk records all the time, (the original 7” single is now very hard to find.) 'No Desire' is a hymn, a short ecstasy with great lyrics. I can use the song for any compilation, totally addictive stuff! They recorded a 2nd 7inch 'Don't Pretend' but it was never released, first 2003 from Fan Club Company in limited edition of 500 published. Loud, Proud & Punk Records recognized the genius of this band and released this slab with all their early recordings, 2004 Dirty Faces comes with another compilation with two more songs. After the end of the band the Seilern brothers founded relatively quickly a new band with their bassist Babine and two members of another Geneva punk band (The Bastards) called the Zero Heroes. The sound was almost as significant to the English power pop with influences of ska elements, they released two albums. So enjoy this wonderful piece of punk rock!!!!

THE NITWITZ - The Scorched Earth Policy 12'' 1981

Amsterdam's youngest punk band were formed in 1978. They released several singles, a mini album and a split LP with Götterflies. Here's a short look at their biography: "In the press they got less attention. And when they got some, they got negative critics. The English press called them imitators of English bands. New Musical Express about their first single: "Too late for the Pistols, or even Sham 69, they take their lead from the likes of the Rejects and the UK Subs. Do I need to go any further?". The lyrics of The Nitwitz were not political at all in the beginning. It was about girls, Wickie the Viking and get beaten up by disco-visitors. In March 1979 they played in Paradiso (The Netherlands) with the anarcho band Crass from England. Crass decided to sabotage the set of The Nitwitz by turning of the soundinstallation. After all, The Nitwitz were sexists. This shows how narrowminded the free-thinkers from Crass really were. In 1981 The Nitwitz discovered new music like bands as Weirdos, Germs and Dils and the LP Group Sex from the Circle Jerks. The Nitwitz broke up in march 1982. Eric quit and started the band Outrageous. The others go on with on the vocals the 17 year old singer René van de Meer, formerly Dustman. With the new singer B.G.K. (Balthazar Gerards Kommando) was formed. 1996, the Nitwitz played together with the original members since may 1982." You can read the full Biography here. For me they are a fantastic punk band with their own sound and this little album here proves that a lot. 9 Songs in 15 minutes, snotty guitars blew me away, excellent tempo and very consistent too. The Nitwitz are cool and I can listen to them at any time.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The UK 3 1998

Time for another compilation with lots of strong and dangerous material on it. Volume 3 of the U.K. section is full with rare songs between rough punkrock and shallow powerpop from the late 70s. Here's something for every taste and who appreciates the Bloodstains series as I will be satisfied with this record. Detailed information on the back cover, probably 1000 copies and a coveted collector's item. A pretty good selection of tracks.

GENIUS FREAK - Whose Body Is It Anyway? 7'' 1990

Genius Freak were formed from the ashes of The Shout by lead singer Leeson O’Keefe. They did one 7” with Damaged Goods Records which came in a very nice poster sleeve. Two brilliant melodic punk rock songs in the tradition of Snuff, Guns & Wankers or Leatherface. I think it's their only release and both songs have power, fat guitars and brings fun in every house. Then they left and continued playing around the UK for another year or so. Leeson is still playing in bands today. Cool Songs, nice cover, nothin' more to say.

DEAD KENNEDYS - Forward To Death 1981

Fantastic bootleg from the best American punk band all the time. Some releases have on the back cover a sticker with -Live In USA-, but I think that these recordings are from a gig in Stuttgart. Proof of this is that I once had a tape with the same songs and there stood: Live in Stuttgart, 14.November 1981, next Jello use the word Stuttgart in the song 'Bleed For Me' and why he should mention in the U.S. the word Stuttgart? And last but not least, the audience screams really 'Zugabe' and Heino is coming along and that can only be in Germany, right? The recordings are quite excellent and Jello's announcements about the songs is on world's top. This bootleg is by far the best of the Dead Kennedys (apart from the fact that the last song unfortunately breaks off in the middle...but Fuck!, that's the deal with bootlegs). As a small little bonus, I've packed the two songs from the flexi 'Give Me Convencience Or Give Me Death' LP in it. You must be satisfied.

Man With The Dogs/Forward To Death/Kepone Factory/Life Sentence/Trust Your Mechanic Moral Majority/Forest Fire/Winnebago Warrior/Police Jerk/Bleed For Me/Holiday In Cambodia Let's Lynch The Landlord/Chemical Warfare/Nazi Punks Fuck Off/Bigger Problem Now/Too Drunk To Fuck

ROSI LEBT - Wahnsinn 7'' 1981

Another rare gem is this 7inch by this band from Graz, released on Ursprung Tonträger. A little Info from Rockarchiv Steiermark: Rosi Lebt were founded by Eva Ursprung and Andreas Wildbein, the basic idea from the beginning was emancipatory: Exemption from the musical as well as social standards that break conventional structures in each area. Were therefore sought musicians, whose interest it was to define themselves and their approach to music again and again. Found 2 experimental women from the feminist scene: Nina (Caro) Wurz and Zorah Mari Bauer, as well as the guitarist Doris Koller. In the initial phase, the group of traditional jazz or rock bands of their time differed mainly by the way they work: Each played every instrument, wrote lyrics and press releases. The music was mostly collectively and each musician was equivalent, with musical standards was played until it broke. Each play was allowed. A wide range of musical influences resulted in numerous, ever new, very different live sets: the music oscillated between punk, new wave, free jazz, rock and influences from classical music. The band was never predictable - by lyrical concerts in the spa pavilion to extreme noise orgies, anything was possible. The band broke up in 1989. Musically we have two NewWave/SynthPop goodies, the A-side is a catchy tune, I might almost say Austrian new wave sound, the flip is not as good as the title track but that doesn't matter. Antesten!!!

STRESS & WIENER WUNDER - Split 7'' 1982

This 7inch is a total mystery for me and I don't nothin' about it. What I think, it was given as a free record which should make the Austrian vocational schools popular and on this occasion a concert/festival was held in 1982 where the two bands here were playin'. Not a bad idea I think. The two bands are totally unknown to me and the sound is more Alternative/Pop. Wiener Wunder had with their 7'' Loretta in late 1986 a top 10 hit in the Austrian charts. Not really bad stuff and for collectors of Austrian music certainly interesting.

- Special Thx to Reinhard -

THE WAY - Give Me A Chance EP + Scheiss Kibarei EP + Fascist Scum MCD 1994

Here's a nice collection of Punk rock from Vienna and insider know that Bösling and Harry "The Herbert" already played together from 1979 to 1981 in the Vienna punk band Böslinge which made an awesome record in 1981. The Way were founded in 1990 and released a lot of tapes. In 1994 the german label Incognito Records bring out under the 333 x Up & Down series two knotless 7inches and the mini CD was released by the band themselves. Blaring out dirty '77 punk with a charmin' Viennese dialect as it should be, As always, slightly melancholic in traditional Viennese style. A real Gourmet Festival!!! In 1997 the band was history.

- Great Thx to Reinhard -

STEILEIHU BAND - Ganz Allein 7'' 1982

Tja, once again a record from a band I can't feed you with infos. What is certain is that these rare 7inch appeared on Intervox Records and that the four men are from a place called Kronstorf and sung is here in an extremely Austrian dialect I can hardly understand and I have to listen closely when I want to know what's going on. Musically, this would I describe as fine Austropop with beautiful swing elements, the use of keyboards is not spared, the bass playin' is damn catchy, very fuzzy guitars and a thin drum sound and the man on the mic can sing too. Two songs that I really like and worth listen to.

VISITORS - Compatibility 7'' 1981

The Visitors hailed from Edinburgh, where they started off as the Deleted. Members were John McVay (vox), Colin Craigie (guitars), Derek McVay (bass) and Keith Wilson (drums). They released three 7inches and their third single on Rational records featured two tracks taken from the band's second Peel session. Both songs very emotional, bass-driven and long. Very nice gloomy atmosphere where you can indulge in nostalgia, not desperation this is about new hope and get up again. They are represented on some compilations, for example: Neighbour Annoyer and who like Joy Division, Pink Turns Blue or melodic New Wave sounds should not waste any time to download this fine record.

V/A - Pogo Punks 1999

Actually I didn't post a sampler again because the most songs on this are otherwise available in Blogland and I thought to myself it's a waste of time to post lots of double cuts but this unoffical release leaves me no choice. Excellent song selection with massive early original Swiss Punk from 1977 - 1982. I have found that many Swiss punk records are available again today at fair prices, but you have to be fast. Here we have nine complete 7inches (except Bellevue) and this goes out to the swiss maniac who falls from the chair and lobotomized his neighbors.

GODHEAD - New Lottery EP 1981

Brilliant melodic mid-tempo punk from this California band and not much info here except the title track is a damn good rocket and should be on every selfmade compilation. Released on Bemisbrain records and the EP kick off with a blast, guitars which hunt impulsive through, perfect the dirty sound, sophisticated lyrics. A real Killer!!!! Side b starts with a slower stomper and nice bass-tune, a little interlude I would say before with 'Food' another cracker the single makes perfect. Some members formed later The Bolsheviks in 1986. Godhead are present on Back To Front Vol.3 which welcomes you at this point. So this is a superb one, fuckin' rare and quality stuff for all CA Punk fans & Killed By Death collectors, a real gem and a fucking must listen in every way, you Bitches.
