ALOHA FROM HELL - Shark Attack! EP 1997

The first contact I had with Aloha From Hell from Rodgau came about at a street festival in Frankfurt, where the three, Steinbernd (vocals/guitar), Inga (bass/vocals), Billy (drums), had a great performance and then I absolutely had to buy their 7Inch and also had a short chat with the guys, very very friendly. Short info from their bandcamp site: "The trio exists since 1996 and is closely linked to Rock'N'Roll, Surf and Rockabilly. Their passion for handmade music and joy in playing has made the band a safe bet for fans of extraordinary live concerts. By switching between electric bass and double bass, the band's musical spectrum is further expanded and fows between genres. Always with a certain garage factor and their own sound." This four fine surf beat stomper quality track EP is their debut record and was released in an edition of 500 by Kamikaze Records and to date they have released three more vinyl goodies. Check out these buddies and enjoy this upbeat hip-swaying music!

STIFF LITTLE FINGERS - At The Edge EP 1980

Today a classic 7Inch by Stiff Little Fingers and I think it's their fifth 7Inch which came via Chrysalis with three brilliant tracks, At The Edge was the appetizer from their second brilliant album Nobody's Heroes, the B-side is equipped with two live pieces. What should I say? This is excellent music and anyone who has ever seen the Fingers live, myself included, knows how energetic and playful they perform their gigs, a pleasure in every way. I recommend getting their albums because the power and quality of their songs are some of the best Irish Punkrock Invasion.

PANDEMONIUM - Who The Fuck Are You? EP 1983

Now a fine release by Pandemonium and this 7Inch is not really new in the Blogsphere but it's a damn good one so what the fuck? Founded in Venlo early Eighties, the bandmembers were already friends since kindergarten, and consisted of Peter (vocals/bass), Danny (guitars), Rowdy (drums) and the first edition of this goodie came in 550 copies with two different covers. After playing around for a while, the De Pandemonium Affaire demo got recorded in 1982 and was released on the band's label Limbabwe Records. The music on the demo was raw and biting and had a strong Scandinavian influence. The debut album (Wir Fahren Gegen Dreck) followed in 1984 and after another 7Inch the band started to break up in 1986, there were also some Compilation performances. V/A - Really Fast Vol.2 1984

Second Compilation from this cool series which came via Really Fast Records and again 1600 copies were pressed. And on these records are only Swedish bands who celebrate more fast and aggressive Hardcore/Punk and to preserve a monument to them this little idea was born. Some made it onto vinyl, others only on those gems. This edition also comes, like Volume 1, in a beautiful poster sleeve with pictures, artwork and information about the bands, a solid release, Enjoy!

DIE LETZTEN KAVALIERE - Nachrichten EP 1990

It's gotten frosty and I'm finally finding some time for the blog again, and more posts will follow in the coming week, and now you can listen to a charming three song 7inch by Die Letzten Kavaliere were founded in Wolfsburg at the end of the Eighties by Dirk (vocals/bass), Lars (guitars), Matthias (drums) and after a demo called Komm from 1989, their only EP was released by Hektik Records a year later. They call themselves 'Germany's most polite Punk band' and their last sign of life is the self-released Kavaliersdelikte CD from 2000.

ROACH MOTEL - Roach & Roll EP 1982

Let's enjoy our breakfast with the following little surprise bag that was born forty years ago: founded 1980 in Gainesville (Northern Florida), Roach Motel consisted of Bob (vocals), George & Jeff (guitars), Eric (bass), Chad (drums), and this is their debut EP on Destroy Records, 600 copies were made and happy the one who has an original of it, with six fantastic short cuts. Two years later a second single followed and sometime later the band broke up. Featured on a few Compilations. Great stuff!

CLOWN - s/t 7'' 1983

In keeping with my physical condition follows now a small, subtle but interesting work, and there may have been few published records of the Clowns' musical wanderings in the Eighies, but their mark remained and remains indelible on the Greek underground music scene. Founded in 1981, the band consisted of Yannis (vocals), Elias (guitar), Poupeta (keyboards) and Vagelis (drums), and of more artistically (and not purely musically) restless spirits who made it through their intelligent compositions, their special lyrical inspirations and their overall aesthetic ethos have managed to occupy a special place in the domestic alternative music reality. Both songs on this beautiful 7Inch are based on those conscious, artistic, expressive digressions and move mainly in dark tones. They're two of the era's finest sonic moments, while also highlighting the shame of the band's lack of further released work. In particular, these tracks combine all the necessary components to form two catchy blends of intellectual Post-Punk/New Wave demonstrations. What remains: a nice release by a remarkable group that disappeared so ingloriously without meaning, but in 2012 came a re-issue via Eirkti in a limited edition of 400 hand-numbered copies. They are even featured on some Compilations. Back to bed and get quick healthy.

SKIDS - Charles EP 1978

Damn, I guess I caught a cold yesterday. The morning wasn't pleasant and I also had a bit fever, so I'll keep it short and am grateful for the intro information discogs has to offer: The Skids were a Scottish combo formed summer 1977 in Dunfermline and consisted of Richard (vocals), Stuart (guitar), William (bass) and Tom (drums). They rode into British consciousness on the new wave backwash to the ebbing tide of Punk. The release of their self-financed, attention-grabbing Charles EP (this record brought them to the attention of John Peel.) came at the time Richard Branson's Virgin label were busy accruing an eclectic roster of post-punk hopefuls. Consequently, with almost indecent haste, the band were tethered to what was to prove an optimistic eight-album deal. They published four albums in their first lifespan (I like their second one) which ended in 1982. Since 2007 they've been active again and their current album Destination Düsseldorf is waiting for you.

ISOCRACY - Bedtime For Isocracy EP 1988

Well, if I just lay in bed and watched fucking TV that wouldn't be the worst option for this shitty gray month, but today I'm home and did some rips. And today a fresh one from a band that was more of a short project and as it is with all sort of them, they are usually mercilessly awesome and their few records are very sought after these days. Today we find Isocracy from California and this four piece consisted of Jason (vocals), Lenny (guitars), Martin (bass), Al (drums) and this record saves your day. Released via Lookout Records and this little dittie has eleven songs ready for your deaf ears, but half of which are none, they're rather funny gimmicks and the last song, which according to the cover lasts almost eight minutes, is a small message that is constantly repeated in the outlet groove and is clearly understandable. They have an excellent sense of humor. The record came out in different versions and no matter which one you have, you have a fucking awesome piece of US Punk history. And with this beauty is a request fulfilled and at the end you get a wonderful review: With the music being a mixture of speeded-up quality Flipper and early Minor Threat, this record kicks it with Hardcore anthems that cover such topics as love, Gilman St. Project, anarchy, and all-out wackiness. The band’s smart-ass sense of humor is in abundance throughout the lyrics, packaging, and general concept. Equally abundant is the band’s “we can do whatever we want” attitude, which is a pleasant relief in these days of professionalism. This be great! RISIKOFAKTOR - s/t EP 1992

An interesting combo which deliver surprisingly a decent catchy und rough sound are Risikofaktor (chosen by a song from the Düsseldorf combo Male), a four piece from Soest and they founded 1986 and consisted of Gaffer (vocals), Daisy (guitar), Pille (guitar/bass) & Jason (drums). They released some decent tapes (listen) and this is their debut 7Inch on Kadaver Records and came in a limited edition of 500 copies (the first two hundred hand-numbered copies with different covers). A second 7Inch followed three years later and a 'Best Of' CD in 2000, also invited to Compilations, most of them via cassette. I like this EP because the sound is close to the good old '77 style, bilingual and really cool songs with good lyrics... a small, unknown round one. Definitely interesting enough to keep an eye out for more material... and with that, greetings from the Langsdorf fog.
