ABM - Maßlos Übertrieben 12'' 1982

Berlin-based Punk/Wave Act with sole release on Neue Zeiten, only 500 copies were pressed; produced by Aggressive Rock/Noise owner Karl Walterbach. The consisted of Brunella (vocals/bass), Michael (guitar/vocals), Angelo (saxophone/synthesizer/guitar) and Hei (drums) and maybe you enjoyed their title song from my selfmade compilation Killed By Sunshine, if not, change that immediately. ABM make solid music and their four pieces are not earth-shattering and luckily the saxophone is not used strenuously. The a-side is more the punk side while the flip is more wavie stuff. Good record, more is not necessary.

THE PAIN - 30 Stitches Of Pain (Collection 1977-1979) 2018

Okay folks, you're lucky.... a second post is comin', I'm in the mood for postin' today. The last days and weeks it was different & I was thinking about to close the blog because my motivation was gone and blogging is simply time consuming and that annoys in the long run. I sway like drunk sometimes, but there are so many undiscovered treasures and timeless classics, and they keep calling me and the bastards don't give rest. NO!, they rather infect my punk heart so I haven't really a choice to fuck their damn ears. Well let's see how long I can hold out. Rocking Rolf Records presents a fantastic collection of thirty smashers by the Pain, Swedish punx from Nacka, with lots of unreleased ditties, 1-10 are the officially released ones from their three singles and the RIP-cassette, while 11-30 are unreleased demos, rehearsals and live tracks. Extreme rare, only 100 copies. This is a revised version with 192k/bit and if you want the rough draft (320k/Bit), click My Head Is Burnin' and check out the comment section.

NE LUUMÄET - Laki Ja Järjestys 1990

Third album by Ne Luumäet on Poko Rekords with eighteen ramopunk songs. Founded in 1985 and they strongly influenced by Ramones and they played a very significant role in the creation of the Finnish ramopunk genre. The band ceased operations in 1993, but returned to the stage in 1999, releasing "Autopartio 525" EP as well as the compilation Rahat Ja Pois. Since then, the band has not recorded any new material. In the 21st century, Ne Luumäet has performed publicly, mainly in charity concerts. However, in the summer of 2007, the band performed at Ruisrock and at the Tavastia Club in honor of Ramone Week named by Heko Luumäki ("Punkrock 30 years old," 30 years old from Ramones' first Finnish concert). In 2011, the band performed twice in Yy-Kaa-Koo-Nee: RAMOPUNK! book publishing events. Among the members of the band Ne Luumäet, guitarist Heko Luumäki has continued to be the most active in punk and ramopunk in the band Rehtorit, which he founded in 1995, where Kaide Luumäki and Finski also played Luumäinen in the early 1995s. In addition to band activities, Heko Luumäki has developed ramopunk events, of which Converse Club, Ramoviisut and Ramones Week are his creations. Joey Luumäki, the singer of the band Ne Luumäet, has composed new material and performed at solo gigs from time to time. Superb record!

THE SPIZZLES - Spikey Dream Flowers 1981

Original formed as Spizzenergi by vocalist/guitarist Spizz in Solihull, West Midlands. Later changed its name every year, subsequent names including Athletico Spizz 80, Spizzoil or the Spizzles, this happened 1981 and the band then consisted of Spizz (vocals), Lu (guitars/piano), Jim (bass), C.P. Snare (drums)The group released this record (on A&M Records) which cemented the group's sonic image as science-fiction weirdos. After two more singles and a dispute over payment for a video, A&M declined the option and 1981 ended in disarray.

Mike Stand, Smash Hits/March 19 - April 1, 1981: The Spizzles - a pop group? 'Fraid not. Spizz used to be crude and garage band-like but then overnight he became too darn sophisticated (both albums). This has got some grating bad habits - Jim Solar's disco bass and Spizz's monotonous yelling - but the lyrics are wittily tight and the whole band finds a new place in time and space with the black, bleak 'Risk' & 'Scared'. Value diminished by including four tracks already out as singles, including a disappointing remake of 'Soldier Soldier', but the Spizzles continue to teeter on the brink of their own potential. (6 out of 10).

Graham Flashner, The New Music Record & Tape Guide, 1987: 'Spikey Dream Flowers' offers robots, deadly war games and incessant runaway guitar (by recent arrival Lu Edmonds) with no place to go.

Well, all in all an interesting record with ten poppy songs, two of them for the trashcan and 'Soldier, Soldier' is a damn classic.

ECOUTE MAMAN - Comment Va Le Sexe? 1980

Paris group formed in March 1978 by Pierre (vocals/bass), Eric (guitar), Gilles (guitar) and Frédéric (drums). Frédéric was already a friend with Louis Bertignac since 1975. A first singer will be part of the group, François Gedigier who will be ousted after 6 months, but credited on some titles of the LP. The first rehearsals in 1978 took place in a cellar on Boulevard Beaumarchais, then Avenue Trudaine, not to mention those taking place in the countryside in Limousin with Eric's parents, on a dais stuck to the barn. The name comes from that time, Eric telling his mother "listen mom what we can do ...!". A first scene at Turgo High School, and a first "real" concert @ the Théâtre Campagne Première in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. They are identified by Pierre Lattès (producer among others Gong, Ame Son, Ribeiro and initiator of the show Bouton Rouge) following an article in Libération (dated January 9, 1979) who signs for WEA and in edition at Dreyfus. They buy a former hearse in a breakage specialized in this product (!) On the national 7, repaint and go on tour, not to mention the rehearsals that are happening now in Gentilly (Sapho too). A first record with four songs (including "Les Dossiers De l'Ecran", unpublished) were recorded in a studio in Clichy (a cinema in fact). One of the titles, "Marcher", the one that is present on Thesaurus Volume 3 is chosen to appear on the compilation by Oxygène label released in 1979 125 Grammes De 33 1/3 Tours with some good French bands (Electrochoc, Le Fracas, etc...

Excerpt from the book "Frenchy But Chic" by Jean-Eric Perrin: OXY 022 Y, it is the reference of a compilation Oxygène, with the hideous cover, which proposes ten groups, of which few are to be saved: Strychnine and Contagion, already mentioned here, and then Ecoute Maman, whose name is not flashant, conceals a Transylvanian bassist, who plays fretless, sings right, and loving the eyes of the kids, fifty-two pounds of rock'n'rollian aesthetics, equation: leanness + night electricity; Ecoute Maman played in the first part of TELEPHONE, who else? They link festivals and concerts and their label WEA pays them a rehearsal studio in Montmartre. Lattès bring them to London in November 1979, they stay there for three weeks and record at the Music Works their album Comment Va Le Sexe? (How's The Sex?). The version of "Marcher" is different from the one on the compilation. But at the release of the record, the label & band were disappointed by the sound. Didier Malherbe came to play with his saxophone, but it's only on "Série Noire" to hear. A guy contacts them for a scene fired from them in concert to Baltard who will appear in a film. The theme of this film is not rock, but a girl living in the suburbs of Paris. This film is shown in front of the band with the director, but they really do not like it! Who is this director, the name of the film and did it come out one day? No idea. The group does not believe anymore and separates at the end 1980. Pierre Delavie became a traveler and an artist, modifying or decorating buildings in Paris or elsewhere. (source: informelle)

ANGELIC UPSTARTS - Teenage Warning 1979

When we talk about classics, the debut by the Angelic Upstarts is without a doubt one of them, almost half the album was also on 7Inches released and they all brilliant. Ripped from gloriuos vinyl back in 2019. Bißchen info: the band were initially signed to Sham 69's Jimmy Pursey's JP Productions. The plan was to record a demo and use Pursey's leverage to secure a deal with Polydor - this floundered following an incident involving Pursey, a security guard and a snowball fight. Warner Brothers stepped in and signed them. I guess, that's all info you need, if still more, visit punk77 and suck it in.

BRAVE NEW WORLD - Noise From The Heart! 1987

Here is a small re-post, originally posted by Curious Guy 2008 in his phoenixhairpins blog and I give you his words: "Brave New World is a US punkband started in the early/mid 80's. They released a 7" and the Initiation mini album which are punk in sound with elements of garage to hardcore. The 'Noise From The Heart!' album however shows the band in a different direction. It reminds me of No Trend. This was their last release as the band already fell apart. All their records were on the Homemade Records label but carry Fartblossom Enterprizes cat.#'s. Singer James Roebuck is in The Mission Creeps now (although their MySpace page disappeared)." On this album playin' James (vocals/guitar), Kirk (guitar/bass), Tom (bass/keyboard) and Wayne (drums). Bizarre, noisy & grandiose!

EMERGENCY! - Blomstertid EP 1980

This rare piece was released via Ori Records and is the only one by Emergency!, a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or environment and these attributes took the five: Mats (vocals/guitar), Bengt (guitars), Anders (bass), Jens (drums) and Gunnar (vocals/piano). They founded somewhere in the deepest forests or shallow tundras of Sweden to become punkstars. Unfortunately, this did not manifest itself and so they became regular zero-eight workers after this EP and as always with unknown acquaintances they killed their emotions and shit on the nondescript invitations and cursed them... that they burn in fucking hell. So the story goes and strange, but that's how it is written. Fuck the day and come slowly into the weekend...... these four songs chirp punkie and are really good & I'm a little bit exhausted! I have heard that the download with sendspace is causing problems, tell me if you agree.

TDK & PBNSK - Split EP 1984

Before I watch the soccer match SGE vs. Schalke 04 a quick post by two combos from the Iberian Peninsula, released via π Musikra RecordsFirst PBNSK (Bakery Pastries Our Lady of Karmen) and TDK (Terrorism, Destruction & Kaos), both from Madrid and pioneers of hardcore punk in Spain. The A-side starts with P.B.N.S.K. and their two songs. These two are the only known songs released by them. Little else is known about the group, beyond its pioneering state in punk and hardcore. Its membership was Lanaquera Paco, who later became part of TDK replacing Manolo Uvi. The original lineup constituted: Oscar Lanaquera (voice), Lolo Lacruz (guitar), Paco Lanaquera (bass) and Paco Cameros (drums).
The vocalist on this record was, however, Manolo "Masacre" (alias "Fan Del Caos"). Other group members were once Pepe Arriols (Pepe Punk) and Toni, who were also part of the group III Guerra Mundial. The B side contains two issues by TDK, "Israel" and "Interrogation". Both songs appeared on later albums of the band. TDK was formed in 1984 after the separation of Espasmódicos, José Siemens, Magüu Plarte and Alfonso Cronopio. They recorded a demo in the studio of Felix Arribas (Pekenikes) and in 1985 the first 12'' Esto Es Una Empresa Capitalista which is a fantastic record. Four albums followed, lots of 7inch and after the release of the 4th album the band broke up in 1989. The split was released in 1984 and was reissued in 2005 by Radikal 1977 Records.
Just listen to this splendid furious smash in your face attack!!

CAFÉ MOZART - Illusion Cassée EP 2018

I think it's time to pay tribute to a label that publishes absolutely fantastic & rare records and also present in the net with lots of details & information to that: Cameleon Records from Pantin (near Paris). This little piece of wax is a perfect example and part of the strictly limited 8 EP box De La Pure Came!! 32 titres Punk-rock-Cold Inédits 1977/1982. Let's read some interesting basics about the band: "Café Mozart was founded by Gilles, Fever and Marc at the end of 1978 at the university of Nanterre and from the fusion of two small incomplete groups: on the one hand guitar (Bruno), bass (Fever) and drums (Philippe), and on the other, keyboard (Marc), guitar (Gilles) and vocals (Frédérique). Half of the group comes from Rueil Malmaison, the other half from Maisons Laffitte & Paris. They rehearse at Fever's in Rueil (Special dedications to parents who eat their meals a few years ;-). March 28, 1979 Gilles, Fever and Christophe Nick (at that time student and journalist at Huma, then journalist at Rock'n'Folk and Actuel) organize a concert at the university bringing together elements of the punk and new scene - wave emerging from Paris and the suburbs: Gare Du Stade (pre Ici Paris), E330, Modern Guys, and Feed Back, the concert ends in riot on the campus of the university, in particular because of the confrontation between two bands, fans of Gare Du Stade led by Farid (the future first skins of Les Halles) and a group of the Autonomous movement who intervenes on stage during the Gare du Stade set, initially to make an announcement.... Bottles of beer flying, general fight, destroyed gear and van, tear gas, cops and Molotov cocktails extra, this concert will paradoxically sign the birth certificate of Café Mozart who, from this moment, decides to invest more seriously the new wave wave punk scene in Paris and to stop college. In March 1981 Gilles left the group to join Kamikaze on the Pigalle stage with notably Francis who comes from E330 and Ariane Gilles' girlfriend. The band will be part of the series of groups which regularly play Rose Bonbon (Taxi Girl, Indochine, Les Civils etc.). But the military service (still compulsory) will break the dynamic, Philippe leaves for the army to finally leave the group in September 1981, then it's Bruno's turn to go, and he too, after a few reversals, will definitively leave the group in January 1982. At first, after Fabrice, the drummer of the Civils, who ensures the concerts, it is Tonio (Studio drummer who played with the singer Busy) who will replace Philippe on the drums, and finally , Hugues Chichin (Gazoline), brother of Fred. Café Mozart decides to continue in a formation of four without guitars (Keyboard, Bass, Drums, Vocals). They will then take a guitarist again (Patrick). The new formation records new titles but nothing will come out. The Mozart adventure ends at the end of August 1982. They will all stop the music gradually, except Philippe who still continues to play, with his group Provisoire and other groups" (source: 45vinylvidivici). So now enjoy four rare cool synth-post-punk goodies from a fine French combo.
