IDIOTS - Schweineköter 2019

As I do this post, I'm listening to Positive Energie with a bottle of Ouzo next to me, and this file was sent to me, but unfortunately I don't remember who sent it. Nevertheless, my thx to you Unknown, feel hugt, and the band would also fit perfectly on this CD. We're talking about the Idiots from Dortmund, they've been around since the early Eighties and besides various 7Inches and Compilation appearances, this is their seventh album and the twelve songs are very offensive and diverse. A bit official info: "Schweineköter, with its deafening guitar riffs and driving drum and bass onslaught, races the listener through the alleys and abysses of the human ego. The unmistakable voice of Sir Hannes Smith brings the Punkrock compositions to their climax. Like a thunderclap, he roars forth, aggressive, captivating, electrifying. He can also become more relaxed at times, but not for too long. Around the next corner, he's already waiting, like a mangy dog, barking, screeching, and hurling unfiltered lyrics at you, hard as concrete." I think, the album is refreshingly hearty, gets you back on track and shows you who you are and what is fucking important in your short life, like cutting radishes.

V/A - The Vikings Are Coming 1985

The small steel mill town of Fagersta had seven bands and their skills were immortalised on this rare Compilation, first released by Uproar Records in Sweden, then licensed to New Face Records in Brazil, and presents itself as surprisingly diverse: old-school Punk meets brutal Hardcore attacks; melodic speedcore flirts with refreshing thrash noises, while others impress with unique a good sense of humour. The first issue contained the 'Uproar No.3' fanzine, featuring interviews with all the bands on this record. Re-released several times and still as interesting as full red lips. It's time for a small imbiss.

SUICIDE SQUAD - I Hate School 7'' 1979

Not really new in blogland, but this rare piece of vinyl belongs in my theater because a) it has two fantastic songs on it, and b) it has two fantastic songs on it. I quote: Suicide Squad were formed in 1978 by four schoolmates in Wollongong and consisted of Annie (vocals), Mark (guitars), Con (bass) and Steve (drums), though they relocated to Sydney after struggling to find places to play. After their move they began to build a reputation as a great live band and attracted the attention of Doublethink Records who released their only 7Inch. They then underwent a few line up changes and recorded an album called Vomit On You but this didn't get released until long after they'd split when it came out on Plastic Donut Records (2006) and I would be grateful if someone would send it to me. The band is also featured on a few fantastic Compilations. A Must Listen!

HI-FI'S - Look What You've Done 7'' 1980

Ok friends of good taste, let's talk again about shitty love and we all know how humiliating and disappointing, and also comforting and easy that can be. But it always takes two, and if one doesn't want it, screw that shit, kick her in the teeth and do your own thing. And that's exactly what the boys get with their lone 7Inch. "Look, What Have You Done" & "Why Do You Fucking Love Me?" are essential questions which you only can ask if you have feelings for someone, and that's what's missing in this gray, monotonous, capitalist society, I think. And that was over forty years ago, has anything changed? - The lyrics explores themes of heartbreak, disillusionment, and the complexities of love and relationships. The recurring refrain in the introductory lines establishes a confrontational tone directed at a romantic partner, betrayal and confusion, suggesting that the relationship has resulted in significant emotional turmoil. The repetition emphasizes the intensity of these emotions, adding a layer of frustration. A bit info: the Hi-Fi's were formed 1978 in Toronto by Greg (vocals/guitars), Jim (guitars), Malcolm (bass), Jim (drums), met in high school (later formed Canada's legendary Blue Rodeo). "Punk had made music simple, so you didn't really have to play well to be in a band. So, right from the start, we wrote our own songs." By the time of their one and only single, the brilliantly crafted 'I Don't Know Why (You Love Me) had already splintered into its myriad sub-genres and offshoots, and Hi-Fi's had gelled into a taut quartet ready to compete with the likes of the Mods, the Secrets, Crash Kills Five and the Rage on the city's crowded PowerPop scene. A fantastic 7Inch for all those who have been fooled by love.

THE BURNOUTS - Porno Queen EP 1999

Five piece from California the Burnouts released one record via Pelado Records and members were Sean (vocals), Mark & Cameron (guitars), Steve (bass), Justin (drums). The band name doesn't seem particularly original; there are many with similar names. However, the boys form California delivers four solid tracks on this piece of wax: two originals and two cover versions on the flip. One is by a legend, and the other is a classic that everyone knows, or at least should know. The title track was used for their only Compilation appearance, Heads Will Roll, and unfortunately there's nothing more to report about them. So anyone who likes crispy Nineties Punk'N'Roll will be well satisfied with consistently high sound quality and wild songs, and the volume might even blow out the candles on your Advent wreath, if you have one.

FALLOUT - Rock Hard 7'' 1982

Friends, today a real rarity, and I'm grateful to be able to quote a lot of infos here for you, thx to wiki: Fallout was a Heavy Metal band formed in 1979 based in Brooklyn/New York City. The band contained future Type O Negative members Peter Steele (then billed under his birth name, Peter Ratajczyk) on bass & vocals and Josh Silver on keyboards, as well as John Campos on guitars and Agnostic Front drummer Louie Beateaux (then billed as Lou Beato) on drums. Fallout released only one 7Inch before the band's demise in 1982, the "Rock Hard" single, released in 1981 on Silver Records and limited to 500 copies.

After three years of steady gigging, Fallout broke up. Steele & Beateaux went on to form Carnivore, and Silver and Campos formed Original Sin. After the breakup of Original Sin, Campos went on to form his own production company: Powerhouse Entertainment Group, Inc. Campos recorded, produced, and wrote songs for many Independent and major label artists, such as Bret Reilly, Surfing Moses, Jennifer Marks, Alex Skolnick, the Tito Puente band, Jimmy Delgado, Fat Joe, Mink, and more. He now runs a studio and production company out of Astoria, New York called One Mind Music.

Other known songs that were recorded at Soundscape are "Parthenophagia", "Fallout", "Under The Wheels", "Executioner", "Bleed For Me" and an assortment of instrumental 'experiments' none of which have officially been released nor bootlegged. Fallout also recorded the first version of the 'World War Three' Soundscape as an introduction to the song "Fallout". This piece includes synthesized explosions, gunfire and sirens performed by Richard Termini on the Oberheim Two Voice synthesizer and recorded to analog tape. The Soundscape includes screams and death cries performed by the band, the roadies and their girlfriends. This 'World War Three' Soundscape was recreated by Termini for the band Carnivore and is on their debut album (1985).

What are you waiting for?

V/A - Migraine Für Mein ... Electrokopf EP 2006

A decent small '77 style PowerPunk Compilation from Wanda Records, two times Marseille, two times Saxony. For some of your neighbors, the record actually gives them migraines, while for fans of short, dynamic songs it's rather invigorating. Play this loud at five in the morning and see what happens. The only "downside" is that the whole spectacle is over after about eight minutes, but it puts everything into an endless loop and lovely visitors are guaranteed.

1.Microwave Drugs - THE HATEPINKS
2.She Has No Time - THE SHOEMAKERS
3.Sexy & Mysterious - NEUROTIC SWINGERS
4.Looking Like 20/20 - MOTRAS

V/A - Oi! Of Japan 1985

Leaving Europe heading east and we stop in the Land of the Rising Sun and check this nice Compilation from AA Records which showcases goodies from the Japanese Oi!/Streetpunk scene, and that was/is not small. Praised for its classic sound, which combines "chunky beats with sing-along chants and some wackiness". Reviewers describe it as a fun and crazed collection with a range of styles. It captures the essence of the British Oi! scene from its heyday, featuring classic raw songs. It has a "fun and crazed" atmosphere, blending traditional Oi! anthems with some unique Japanese flair. A diverse of cool bands, showcasing the range of talent in the Japanese Oi! scene at the time and is significant release, bringing a variety of bands to a wider audience and is still considered a quality record, particularly for its authenticity, unfortunately without the inner sleeve. Enjoy!

ANGELIC UPSTARTS - Woman In Disguise 12'' 1982

Ready for more UK Punk classics? Then we must talk about the Angelic Upstarts and this goodie was a single from their Reason Why? album, which marked a turning point for the Upstarts, taking them away from the commercial path of EMI and thus making the band what they were: a Punk band and not pop puppets. Three brilliant songs delivering a scathing critique of Margaret Thatcher's iron-fisted government, and two non-album tracks. A great leap forward, a blend of angry socio-political lyrics with a controlled and melodic sound attack that also deserve no special treatment. I hope, your breakfast tastes a bit more delicious, and today is my last day at the old company location, as a move is underway and I'm already looking forward to the new one. This is called a change, and I am grateful to be experiencing it. I believe, this will be fine for myself and I can get rid of some useless baggage... Well, I'll will see, gelle.

XS ENERGY - Use You 7'' 1979

Another lost gem is XS Energy from Lincoln. The four-piece consisted of Freddie (vocals/guitars), Max (lead guitar), Nicky (bass), and Mark (drums), and in their short creative period they produced two excellent 7Inches; 'Use Me' is the last and comes with two decent midtempo classics, fantastic dirty riffs and catchy chorus... Hell Yeah, this makes your mouth dry and necessitates drinking a lot of high-proof liquid while listening. Both tracks also be found on a few cool Compilations, one is the great Bloodstains Across The UK slab. And that's it for today. I don't have any more infos about the band, the beer's all gone and love is cruel. Stay strong!
