HI-FI'S - Look What You've Done 7'' 1980

Ok friends of good taste, let's talk again about shitty love and we all know how humiliating and disappointing, and also comforting and easy that can be. But it always takes two, and if one doesn't want it, screw that shit, kick her in the teeth and do your own thing. And that's exactly what the boys get with their lone 7Inch. "Look, What Have You Done" & "Why Do You Fucking Love Me?" are essential questions which you only can ask if you have feelings for someone, and that's what's missing in this gray, monotonous, capitalist society, I think. And that was over forty years ago, has anything changed? - The lyrics explores themes of heartbreak, disillusionment, and the complexities of love and relationships. The recurring refrain in the introductory lines establishes a confrontational tone directed at a romantic partner, betrayal and confusion, suggesting that the relationship has resulted in significant emotional turmoil. The repetition emphasizes the intensity of these emotions, adding a layer of frustration. A bit info: the Hi-Fi's were formed 1978 in Toronto by Greg (vocals/guitars), Jim (guitars), Malcolm (bass), Jim (drums), met in high school (later formed Canada's legendary Blue Rodeo). "Punk had made music simple, so you didn't really have to play well to be in a band. So, right from the start, we wrote our own songs." By the time of their one and only single, the brilliantly crafted 'I Don't Know Why (You Love Me) had already splintered into its myriad sub-genres and offshoots, and Hi-Fi's had gelled into a taut quartet ready to compete with the likes of the Mods, the Secrets, Crash Kills Five and the Rage on the city's crowded PowerPop scene. A fantastic 7Inch for all those who have been fooled by love.
