V/A - Panx Vinyl Zine 11 EP 1992

French label Panx Productions created their small Panx Vinyl Zine series at the end of the Eighties and eleven parts were released. Pressed exclusively as 7Inch, initially hand-numbered and always provided with a small booklet, bands were given the opportunity to show what they could do. Mostly unknown combos, who were only a small part in their lifetime at vinyl on these series. So a very good innovation and anyone who owns all eleven records can certainly put them all together on a CD and have a really rare and surprisingly good Compilation with excellent material, in my opinion. I only have this one but it kicks well and is affordable for just a few euros, like all the others. Now start to an interesting little journey through the world and meet likeable people who can do it too. Cheers! 🍻

1.Tired - COUCH POTATOES
2.Jehovah's Witness - BLANKS 77
3.Crisis Everywhere - WOUNDED KNEE
4.Real Man - EIGHT BALL
5.Sentimiento Indefinible - LAMENTO

TEENAGE RADIO STARS - Wanna Be Ya Baby 7'' 1978

 ´´
Very nice two-sided 7Inch by the Teenage Radio Stars, a four piece which formed 1977 in Melbourne, originally as Spread, but soon renamed in Teenage Radio Stars, by James (vocals/guitar), Sean (guitar), Graham (bass), Peter (drums) and this is their only record on Suicide Records. Teenage Radio Stars was a glam-Punk combo with Freud on lead vocals and guitar and Sean on guitar and vocals. When the opportunity came to record a single, this one, later covered by Uncanny X-Men, two members were fired. Mick Prague & Mark Harvey joined the band and performed "Wanna Be Your Baby" on Countdown. Sean founded the Models (which were very well received in Australia) and James the James Freud & the Radio Stars (one 7Inch was released called the Modern Girl in 1980). - And how the whole thing sounds you can hear/see below, the B-side is also cool.

LOS NIKIS - Olaf El Vikingo 7'' 1985

The next 7Inch is from the Los Nikis and they were founded in the suburbia from Madrid and it's certainly warmer there than in fucking Germany. This is their fourth single on 3 Cipreses and musicians were Emilio (vocals), Arturo (guitars), Joaquín (bass), Johnny (drums) and this goodie was also released as 12Inch with two more numbers. Two playfully melodic songs we can listen on this piece of wax and I'm sure you like them. That's enough for now, I feel weak and exhausted and have to go back to bed and catch up some sleep. Check out their records and I might meet you tomorrow.

BASTA! - Abortus Vrij, De Vrouw Beslist! 7'' 1977

Rib inflammation and a sore throat, I'm thrilled, all this shit that's extremely annoying and pisses me off. Well, there's time to post if I can crawl out of bed, and it's time again for a little 7 fucking Inch, the only piece by this Belgian combo called Basta! on Agitat and this little dittie was one of the first Belgian Punk releases of any sort. The band consisted of Eric (vocals), Marc (guitars), Luc (bass), Johan (drums) and Peter (sax) and the song refers to the 'national demonstration against the abortion ban' of March 4, 1977 in Ghent, which the Young Socialists (JS) called for with the same slogan. The song posthumously gained international recognition in 2017 when it was included in a list of influential anti-fascist Punk songs by the American music site Pitchfork. The music website mainly praised the saxophone line which is said to be reminiscent of Lora Logic's dissonant contributions to X-Ray Spex and Essential Logic. The flip is a reggae tune which is in my opinion a little bit too long. A short background: "The Radio 1 program Wonderland called a stunned Eric, singer of Basta, last night. "It's unbelievable what is happening now, because there are few people who remember that song from fourty years ago," he says: "Although the fight over abortion is a fight that has not yet been fought in many countries, which makes the song still relevant." The way the song was created appeals to the imagination. "We created abortion free, the woman decides" in response to a similar demonstration under the same name. That demonstration was to take place in Ghent. As occasionalPpunks, we created a soundtrack for it," says Eric. "That all happened in one day: we made a song from scratch in a community center. The lyrics were written there on the spot, the music is pure improvisation. That evening we were already in the studio for the recording. My voice was completely destroyed by then (laughs). Until that day we had never played music together."

RUBBERMAIDS - Twisted Chords 1991

An older rip now and we encounter a comfortable, mid-tempo sound and we're talking about the Rubbermaids. Founded 1986 in Hamburg and the original line-up consisted of Birgit (vocals), Minne & Matzy (guitar), Hardy (bass), DynaMeik (drums). They existed until 1994 and in their active lifespan, the band released four albums and one 7Inch. This is their second album on Rebel Records with twelve powerful melodic pieces and occasional short Pogo blasts and the pleasant choral singing is also coolIn 2003, members of Slime and the Rubbermaids founded the band Rubberslimewho made two albums togetherFor me, Punk from Hamburg is always at the top and many good bands came from this beautiful city, especially in the early days. The harsh sound and the offensive lyrics are a trademark and their records are very sought after today, especially those from Weird System, the most important label from there. Enough words, enjoy some really good Punkrock from the Hanseatic city and stay vertical.

THE ADVERTS - The Punk 7Inches Collection 1997

One more from the Punk Collectors Series by Anagram Records and today the edition of the Adverts who formed in 1976 and broke up in late 1979, and this little sucker round up every A & B side (seven singles/fourteen songs) by one of the Punk's founding fathers and this fantastic package contains excellent liner notes from singer/songwriter TV Smith. Info: "With their raw, enthusiastic immaturity, the Adverts were a bright, though short-lived, light of the Punk era, distinguished by the fact that their bassist, Gaye Advert, was one of the first female stars of Punkrock. After they (barely) mastered one chord, the Adverts began playing at London's Roxy Club in 1976, where they quickly came to the attention of the Damned's guitarist Brian James. James offered the band an opening spot on the Damned's tour and directed them toward Stiff Records. Stiff released their self-deprecating debut single, "One Chord Wonders," in 1977, when the band could still barely play, but when they released their second single, the disturbingly funny "Gary Gilmore's Eyes," the group rocketed into the U.K. Top 20 in a storm of controversy. The Adverts' first album, Crossing the Red Sea With The Adverts, fulfilled the single's promise, but the second, 1979's Cast Of Thousands, sounded like they poured all of their musical ideas into their first album; the group broke up the following year." (Stephen Thomas Erlewine)

Great music from a band that unfortunately had a much too short lifespan, but still brilliant nowadays!

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN - Kollaps 1981

Blixa Bargeld, F.M.Einheit & N.U.Unruh: this was the first line-up of the 'LÄRM' musicians called Einstürzende Neubauten from Berlin. I don't know if I've already told you, but at some point I heard their sounds on the TV, some eighties music show, and I stopped immediately and had to hear and see it: hammering, drilling, atonal bass noises, distorted guitars and a sudden loud & psychotic screaming voiceAt first I didn't know what to think of them, but gradually I started to like the stuff and thought: "Wow, they're crazy but they're doing an excellent job with their homemade instruments. This is fucking innovation!" Well, dear readers, that was forty fucking years ago and do you know that? You see the past clearly in front of you and look at yourself now... that's absolute horror and I hate getting fucking old. Well, anyway, I became a fan of their artistic work and after a few years they finally became more melodic, and a little more commercial (but only a tiny bit). Finally, a good review from someone who can do it better than me:

"Einstürzende Neubauten's first album, as one might imagine, is their most primitive and radical effort, the purest expression of their original aesthetic. This makes the album both historically significant and conceptually intriguing, of course, but what's most interesting about this album is that it still sounds surprising decades after its release. Often, albums that are considered extreme art statements upon their debut sound almost quaint a few years later, but while Kollaps perhaps sounds less extreme to ears that heard industrial music turned into disco pabulum by the likes of Nine Inch Nails than it did before, songs like the eight-minute title track and the rumbling live closer, "Negativ Nein" are still a fascinating blend of rhythm and random bashing, tonality and atonality, with anguished vocals by Blixa Bargeld that often seem to have little connection with anything else in the piece. The brief tracks, like the 80-second "Sehnsucht," are even more extreme explorations of pure noise. Starting as early as the next album, Einstürzende Neubauten would begin slowly introducing more mainstream musical concepts into their aesthetic, making Kollaps as undiluted a listening experience as there is in the entire catalog." (Stewart Mason)

Released via ZickZack Records and the first edition included a sixteen-page DIN A4 black and white booklet with song lyrics + photos. A record for Die-Hards. Enjoy!

COLD I - Cliff Flowers 2018

Now I want to introduce you to an interesting Greek band called Cold I and this four piece plays a catchy Eighties Post-Punk & Dark Wave sound. Founded 2015 in Athens by Fotis (vocals), Vostron (guitar), Mitsos (bass) and Christos (drums). Άνθη Γκρεμού (Cliff Flowers) is already their second album which was released via Bat-Cave Productions and has six melodic and atmospheric highlights to offer. I can really say, that their music transforms all your stress and anger into positive energy, at least that's how I feel, and it's just nice to listen to. Although their noises are very melancholic and dark, but it's the perfect sound to calm down, collect yourself, reset and gain new momentum. Just stop and think, take a look at the world and yourself and ask, if all of this is okay. That's what I do with such stress-free music. Well, all of us have shit on our legs and need an outlet to shake that off, Cold I is an excellent help for that. Try them, it's perfect when you need a holiday from yourself and check out their other records, the last one came out this year and I hope they stay with us for a while. Cheers & have a nice Sunday!

V/A - Apocalypse Chaos 1982

Superb French Compilation from Chaos Productions with early and first recordings of bands that later became renowned and popular recordings, a stepping stone, so to speak. Although there are only twelve songs, they are surprisingly good and clearly show the potential of the bands and can be seen as a springboard. Very good mix from Oi! & Punk of the old days and there is nothing more to tell about it, dug up from my Harddrive. You see, it's taking a while until I post again, but life is taking me vehemently and maybe wdthtc will soon be over... I'm undecided... but I feel like I don't want to anymore... ma gugge!

THE LURKERS - Beggars Banquet 7Inch Collection 1997

Old acquaintances and always welcome guests in my theater and this is an excellent Compilation which features eighteen tracks by the Lurkers' early classic Singles, compiled by Anagram Records for their Punk Collectors Series, one of the best around this planet in my opinion. The Lurkers released a lot of 7Inches, and all A and B sides are immortalized here, I don't have to go into more detail to make this material appetizing for you because I think many of you have one or two records and you know exactly how hot the band is. This CD exudes energy and pure catchiness and the gents have been active since 1976, including some long breaks, and I think, it's time for another tour. So dear ones, now I'm going to do a little housework, and maybe I'll come back with more cool stuff. Stay tuned!

- Great Thx to Nolti -
