I'm not very active on the blog right now so I'm a bit slack, I think I need a break and my head is empty as well. I don't like writing too much about the following record either, somehow I came across to this four piece from Rouen and this is their first 7Inch on Ponce Pilate and it's a nice two song goodie with female vocals. A second single followed but this one isn't remotely charming but what I recommend to you is a Compilation called Débarquement 77 which was released via Mémoire Neuve in 2020 and this nugget features fourteen unreleased tracks by eight interesting French bands from the years 1977-1980, including two by Oenix.

FORD'S FUZZ INFERNO - Eternal Circles Of Fuzz EP 2023
Well dear Friends, let's come to the fifth chapter of the grandiose duo Ford's Fuzz Inferno and it's a strange beast in the Dutch ‘fuzztopian’ Punk discography and to be honest, I don't even know what to write here anymore. All of Mr. Hans & Mr. Patrick's releases are extraordinarily brilliant and the level is consistently high and their musical ability just won't diminish. Excellent FuzzPunkRock as it should be for Fuzzies and believe me, I really mean that. As soon as the first note sounds, my body vibrates and turns my basic mood into a positive network of cheerfulness and lust, not that I'm a negative person, but I'm a skeptic and like to question and Ford's fuzzy sound is a real door opener for every pissing situation, can you follow me? The two gents know exactly what they are doing and they do it with dedication and common sense, and I'm a bit late with this slab, because in May they've already added the sixth chapter, and also important to know, their label released the first Compilation (the Compulsive Agitation EP in an edition of 400 copies) but more to this in the near future. I won't quote a review here this time, look for it yourself and I recommend you to read all the other chapters of the Fuzz book and enjoy the sunny warm Sunday with it.

CANAL TERROR - Live In Bonn 1991
Now to a band, which I appreciate very much and support me in difficult times, then as now, with their great songs from Zu Spät, the only album by Canal Terror on Aggressive Rock Produktionen and in my opinion a real German Punk Nugget. So this fucking live album was recorded at "Schöne Bescherung" - Festival 26/12/1991 @ Biskuithalle/Bonn and line-up on this unforgettable evening were Tommy (vocals), Dominik (guitars), Volker (bass), Wolfgang (drums) and almost all hits were performed, including two tracks from the 2nd best German Sampler Soundtracks Zum Untergang 2, and all these are best ingredients for an entertaining and happy evening... I know that because I was able to see the band live, and the four on stage are no bores and I think, this beauty historical audio document comes across brilliantly into your house, everything else is seven of spades.

GENETIC CONTROL - First Impressions EP 1984
Genetic Control were formed New Year's Night 1984 in Montreal, the result of a drunken jam featuring Mike (vocals), Rob and Rob (guitars), Dougo (bass) and Mike (drums). After a three month break, they changed the line-up a litte and Polio Elvis (vocals), Duke & Teen Hunk Rob (guitars), Dick (bass), Lewis (drums) recorded then their great and only vinyl EP First Impressions (500 copies) which also was released by themselves (they recorded songs for an album, but there were no master tapes made, as the band opted instead for just a cassette recording, as they could not afford to pay for the multi-track tape, a decision the band and many fans have regretted over the years, so unfortunately only this 7Inch were made. The band was supposed to go on tour with the album in 1985 but shortly after, failing to release their LP, they disbanded. The EP shot up high among collectors and that eventually led to Bootlegs and an official re-release on Return To Analog in 2021 with bonus cuts (limited edition of 500 numbered copies as well). Also interesting is a CD compilation, Brave New World, on Sonik's Chicken Shrimp from 2005 which also comes with interesting pieces. You see, Genetic Control made not much records, but remain with an excellent impression, and aren't definitely soap bubbles and you can book them for a few Compilations invites as well.

NEW ROSE - Circus Of The Human Race EP 1986
Swedish five piece from Ljusne, Hälsingland and this 7Inch has four solid rocking numbers and is the debut of New Rose, Anders (vocals), Maths (guitars), Ingvar (bass), Peter (keys), Roger (drums), on Slam Records. An album followed (In The Land Of Overnight Daylight, 1988) plus a flexi 7inch (split with The Pedaç Moped, 1989) and I guess after that the band broke up. Musically played decently, melodically and the keys are not too dominant and sound at the right time without getting on your nerves and as far as I know, there aren't Compilation invitations. I think, there are far worse ways to waste ten minutes of your life, New Rose aren't one of them.

INTIMATE - Tomma Ögon EP 1982
An older rip now and this is the only 7Inch by this Swedish four piece from Västerås and the band consisted of Jonas (vocals/bass), Henrik & Marin (guitars), Lars-Åke (drums) and this little dittie was released by their own. The four lasted between 1979-1982 and they did about twenty gigs in mid Sweden and broke up just after the Single had been released. That is the only information about the four and musically rather unspectacular, but the four songs are definitely worth listening to, even if they hardly reach the wild-rough Punk standard of the Swedish bands from back then, which is probably due to their sadly bloodless sound, is the whole thing harmless. But hey, that was also part of it and Intimate certainly made some friends happy and can now be rediscovered here, and the mention in Peter Jandreus's Encyclopedia is proof enough that they were important for the Swedish Underground scene! They are also found on a Compilation tape Drömmar i Faksimile from 1982 on Modernes Pop Records.

FEAR - Fuel To The Fire 7'' 2019
It almost borders on ignorance, but now, after so many years, the first Fear entry and this two-track goodie was recorded in Brooklyn on June 19, 1992 and pressed on vinyl for the first time by Atom Age Industries/Fear Records in 2019 as a limited multi-color edition. Info: Fear is an important four piece + formed late 1977 by Lee (the band's only constant member) and bassist Derf in Los Angeles and helped define the sound and style of L.A. Hardcore. The band is known for their controversial lyrics, which are, at times, sexist and/or homophobic, though this is usually meant more to be shocking than it is to be taken seriously. Following the release of their first single, Now Your Dead/I Love Livin In The City from 1978, drummer Spit and guitarist Philo joined the band and this constituted the "classic" Fear line-up. Six albums were released until 2012, numerous 7Inches (last 2023) and Compi contributions and that they remain active is just as cool. Fuel To The Fire was recorded by Lee (vocals/guitars), Philo (guitars), Will (bass), Spit Stix (drums) and this 7Inch really kick your ass!

CH3 - I've Got A Gun/After The Lights Go Out 1991
Once again Anagram Records, today with a Compliation CD from their The Punk Collectors Series and on stage are Channel 3 from Cerritos/CA, formed 1980 by Mike (vocals/guitar), Kimm (guitar), Larry (bass) and Mike (drums). Info: the bands first release was the CH3 7Inch via Posh Boy Records and the slab received good critical notices, but the band’s limited exposure kept it a modest success. This began a campaign to play every show possible, in any location that would have the band. Interest began growing, the band got better, and by the time Fear Of Life was released Summer 1982, the band was ready for its first extensive US tour. At the time, touring the punk club circuit was a shaky proposition at best. There were lots of cancellations, lots of fights and the band’s constant travel probably contributed to its healthy turnover rate, and the 1983 tour in support of After The Lights Go Out saw Posh Boy Veteran Jay Lansford joining the band. Jay, a former member of the Simpletones and Stepmothers brought a new professionalism to them. Channel 3 was at the peak of its popularity, playing to large crowds, and enjoying chart success in Europe with the I Got A Gun UK release. By the mid eighties, the band was spending more time in the rehearsal studio, experimenting with a five man lineup and stretching out creatively. Airborne , the first release on Enigma records, was a stylistic departure for CH3. Many fans refer to this as the definitive dawn of the “You Guys Suck!” phase in the band’s history. That record’s emphasis on song over speed alienated some fans, but allowed the band to begin playing more high profile shows. Empowered by a new sense of artistic freedom, Channel 3 then delivered Last Time I Drank in 1985, a record that many HardcorePunk fans found not only a shocking display of musicianship, but also a blatant display of disrespect of all things bald, broke, and smelling of clove cigarettes. Never fond of the strict conformity of Punk Rock’s non-conformist manifesto, the band continued to explore musically. The final release of the Eighties was the aptly named Rejected, a curious mix of studio projects that sounds like a weary Amen! after a long and desperate prayer...
The band kept a low profile through the Nineties. Besides the annual Doll Hut benefit show and the rare late night television appearance, the band had all but vanished. But CH3 was not done, they had simply retreated to the basement lab, plotting for the inevitable return with a maniacal laugh! Early 2000’s, CH3 found itself back on the road, and with a new record on Dr Strange Records, the band was back on track and curiously playing to bigger crowds than ever. The last sign of life on vinyl was the Put 'Em Up album (2017) and there will certainly something new, because the band are far from finished!

V/A - This Is Mod Vol.3 (A Diamond Collection) 1996
Third part by this excellent series called This Is Mod by Anagram Records and we listen to six bands and twenty-two songs, among them are a lot of well-known cover versions that make this compilation even more interesting in my opinion. I find that always exciting, because sometimes the implementation is much more attractive than the originals, and also own melodies/ideas are thrown in, sometimes totally fucked-up but not in this case.... and we all know, it's all a matter of taste. Well, if you enjoyed the first two volumes and you're open for that kind style/sound, I say: you won't be disappointed, it's definitely FUN!

LES VERMINES - Lulu's Bollocks Circus 1985
Today a record from the wanted list and it's the second mini-album by the Vermines from Rouen and their debut Bad Childhood (1983) was already a classic, so the second slab is a decent sequel. Unfortunately only eight songs on it, but every one is a real treat, the four know how to write good songs and be remembered. In 1989 follows a cassette with rough recordings called We'll Pull A Fast One On You (listen) and this tape pretty much reflects the concerts of the Vermines, in terms of atmosphere and rhythm. Superb and passionate!
- Great Thx to Reinhard -
